I think it because Lady Gillian Anderson was seen a lot in last big trailer, and Misters Oldman and Cavill got more screen time in this trailer so they feel new. Nothing more in it. Love them all.

This space battle surpasses most movies LOL Faking the 30% shields down to appear more damaged and then putting the shield back up when the kingship fired the main gun was such a juicy tactical detail. This game is already looking like a freakin masterpiece.

@@zantano1425 I have watched scifi and loved scifi for 30 years... I watched the whole video. The reason I find it boring is the pacing is off...everything moves to the same beat, the music changes pace but the actions do not. Half the time the "Sky" is empty with little to nothing going on in the background for large parts of such a large battle. The FPS gameplay looks little weak as well...sounds and looks like you are shooting a BB Gun they could with making that sounds on those weapons "harder"

Probably the most stacked cast for a game ever. Seeing the behind the scenes with Cavill, Hamill, Anderson, Strong, and THE Gary Oldman will probably be as awesome to watch as playing the game itself. So far, looks like that over a decade of development may have paid off.
'Very Cinematic' Yeah... way too much sitting and watching, nowhere near enough playing. I want this to be good, but as for the film sequences I am reminded way too much of his 'Wing Commander' film. The pacing is... awkward.

That environment at 1:15:30 as he's riding up the elevator is giving me some major Crysis sandbox vibes. Looks to be the same level from the SQ42 vertical slice back from 2017 after that ship canyon run going from orbit to planet. Haven't been this pumped for a PC game since Crisis and HL2. SQ42 is going to be a GPU seller for sure.
A lot of the Crytek devs moved into CIG, the company behind SQ42 and SC (look at Foundry 42 in Frankfurt). Star Citizen's engien was Cryengine for quite some time too.
@@jordano4794 We don't know how on the rails SQ42 will be. Probably very on the rails. Maybe 7 or 8 years ago they planned to give you multiple ways/paths to solve certain missions, but not all missions. No idea if that's still the plan or if it was abandoned. Nobody outside of CIG knows. But it's not a sandbox. That's what Star Citizen is.
I've been gaming for over 40 years. I can remember playing the original Elite and X-Wing, Wing Commander 3 and 4 and of course Elite Dangerous for the first time. I will never forget those moments. This gameplay reveal has made me look forward to a game that I've not felt for a very long time. I can't wait!
I tempered my expectations a long time back. Not seen anything playable beyond a buggy tech demo since I bought in over 8 years ago. I've been through 6 graphics cards and 3 PCs and 2 new email addresses since the first release date was missed. Hopefully they'll pull it off, but all the budget and time spent making repeated hype videos FOR YEARS without a playable game has made me hugely cynical.
Imagine one day you are at the bar after a hard day of work. You take a sip of beer and the Director yells "CUT". Then you realize Gary Oldman was playing you the whole time. That's how good of an actor Gary Oldman is!
The crazy thing about this isn't just how great it looks and sounds, but so much of it is fully physicalised - all those ships have fully working systems and interiors, the lack of loading screens, etc. At this point, I don't care how long it takes, it's obvious that there is an impressive product to look forward to. How many epic games got so close to being great only to be shoved out the door to satisfy quarterly profits. Let this one cook - we haven't seen anything this ambitious for a generation and probably won't for another (unless it's SQ42 ep2).
Keep in mind the Vanduul talking is a complete constructed language (same as for other species), created by the same guy who created the ConLang for the Borg. Quite cool stuff.
Borg didn't have a ConLang...? I'm not completely caught up on my Trek, but the most popular ConLang out there is still Klingon, so are you referring to Marc Okrand? Borg spoke in a choral English voice.
@@veliostv9089 Ah, yes, looking up that name and the Klingon Wiki has a quick mention on Britton's involvement in one of the newer movies as well as SC. However, Marc Okrand is credited with having created the Klingon language when working on the original movies.
Ya I noticed some people are shitting on the narrative/dialogue but personally I am ALL FOR a "classic sci-fi" story that just does good guys vs bad guys with some campy dialogue here and there. Just heroes and villains. Everything tries so hard to have the "dark truths of society" or the "everyone is shades of good and evil". It's honestly refreshing to just have a good ol sci-fi/fantasy narrative pop-up again. What's funny is it might actually be because this game is a byproduct of the time it was originally conceived. Who knows if this is the story they would of chosen TODAY, but it incidentally feels fresh because it's a story that was conceived over 10 years ago lol.
Hopefully! Star Citizen is infamous for not being a complete game, it's the most controversial "game" out there and this is from the same studio. Hopefully they don't screw it up again, their reputation is already as bad as it gets without getting shut down.
There is no salvage mission in SQ42. It's a combat story. Think Rogue Squadron form the X-Wing books and games. This will be a story driven, mission driven single player campaign. All the fluff is still going to remain in Star Citizen. SQ42 is not open world but gives us all the lore of SC. WW2 in space.
3:50 That theme is *KILLER!* They have to release this song on it's own. Bagpipes, taiko drums, horns, snare drums, string, all of is just so good! All its missing is a powerful choir and you have the absolute power of the theme of HUMANITY.
It's a Geoff Zanelli (The guy behind Pirates of the Caribbean) masterpiece. Him and Pedro Camacho, the other composer for the project, are making gorgeous pieces.
I am 57 years old and an original backer of this project. I have never in my entire life been so riveted for over an hour. Thank You! Well done people!
Actually when I pledged I bought two starter packages. My daughter was 8 at the time and I got her into it by flying her around so she could shop at the different landing zones. She loved the paper doll inventory, though she was and still is unhappy about the number of female clothes and hairstyles! Soon she was flying around doing missions to pay for said shopping, then she got big into PVP and now she is at the Air Force Academy learning to be a pilot... Some would say that is sad due to how long it has been. I look at it as hundreds of hours of quality time together and helping her define who she wants to be, for $80.00. Not sure there is another game out there that could have provided that.
What's great about it that's it systemic, it might seem railroaded because it's a very cinematic section of the prologue but this feature will come to Star Citizen as well.
I feel like it wasn’t as cinematic as halo infinite’s opening scene was though tbh. But then again the team for star citizen I don’t think is as well versed in the cinematic aspects of it all

@@grahortarg9933 wow, most games are "level of tech demo" with this kind of generalization. With this kind of generalization, you can even say GTA 5 didn't have anything going for it other than the new water physics which was the only impressive thing about RAGE's iteration. You could even say RDR2 was simply additions of PBR+volumetric clouds and the rest of the features aren't necessarily even additions to RAGE but programmed states like carrying a living object, then some kind of check for collisions to "throw them away" and let Euphoria handle ragdoll like it already did in GTA 4. Even then, NONE of these games introduced any new gameplay loop and most of the gameplay you did was travel point A to point B, and the only fast travel you had was just several campsites to pad the whole game so you don't skip the rest of the game by fast travelling. 12 years and 600+ million for a triple-a studio with in-house mocap, an online service game and a single player game, yes.
12 years? half a billy? damn it looks good but i hope it does well. could be a flop. lots of actors

An interactive movie spectacle with no depth. Very much so.
I became a backer when i was 15 with all the money i got for Christmas dispite the fact my pc made of hand me down parts couldn't even run what they had to play at the time, I've never second guessed it. After i started making big boy money i would hop in every few years to see the changes. Star Citizen still isn't my thing sadly, was never big on MMOs but just seeing this gameplay demo is definitely worth that 250 I spent all of those years ago. This is definitely more my speed and i absolutely can't wait to get my hands on it.
I dived into PC gaming this year for Star Citizen, but there is still so much work to be done. It's worth being patient because it really is such a beautiful game. Can't wait for Squadron 42.
From everything I gleaned from the citizen Khan this year I think they're probably going to have 1.0 out next year. 4.0 is supposed to be the final patchCycle for the public test universe. After 4.0 comes 1.0 live.

Highly doubt 1.0 will happen before SQ42. After 4.0 releases live theyll likely spend time patching that up to a solid state while mainly focusing on polishing Squadron 42.
@@omnizenn4559 We will see but they're going to want to have both sides Of the project completed close to the same time. So beta in 3 years and 1.0 in 5 years is my guess. But always hoping for sooner.
Correct me if I'm wrong but , weather the game is good or not , those have to be the best damn actor recreations in a game ever , I could've confused this with a movie in some moments , and judging by the character model glitching, it's all in engine live cuttscenes not pre rendered ones , wich makes this even more impressive, although it's probably why it's taken so damn long
@@Ticoriko Yeah and later in the game it gets crazier, they even let you decide if you want to watch the cutscene or experience it in first person. You can always "wiggle" out of cutscenes and be in control except mandatory cutscenes like in the intro.
Yup, the game engine has been built to support the cutscenes (eliminating the need for 3rd party animation teams/costs) among other crazy things like no load screens which is a big contributor for the project development taking so long.

Building a pc cable playing that game is not that hard. It honestly doesn't cost much more than the new playstation 5. Especially considering that graphics cards now have HDMI ports and you can plug it straight into your big screen TV. you can run it on a decent rig like a Ryzen 2700 or better CPU, a 2000 series gpu, and you must have 32 gigs of Ram and a fast SSD. The final game will run like 30 to 40 Fps on that on high 1440 better if you turn it to medium you can get 50+ fps more then playable. If you run at 1080p you will get 60 fps+ easy on that same old rig.

It'll run on low graphics tho from any computer with a GPU from the last what will be 10 years at it's release tho. Considering they were thinking of bringing it to consoles too.
probably the most impressive thing about the game is that basically everything you see happening outside of cutscenes is all in game mechanics and animations etc that will be available in the multiplayer. It'll be a true "If you see it you can do it experience"
It's insane when you think about it. While they're definitely doing some extreme culling; Every ship (some 100s of meters in size) have fully modelled and detailed interiors with NPCs. The planet in the background is fully generated with dense flora, fauna, settlements/cities, etc. The background clouds are fully volumetric and traversable.
