I should be optimistic after seeing another Vanguard rework, but at the same time CIG also does things that are harder to fix.
I love how the whole trailer makes us think that Gatsby is the owner's nickname or something like that, when in the end, it's the ship's name. Serves to give off the message that doesn't matter who you are, the real star of the party will be the ship. Not you. Not even if you are its owner.

It’s a pretty interesting trailer, you can tell the narrator of the commercial is supposed to be equivalent to nick caraway, the narrator of the great gatsby, really clever on CIG’s part

Well, it's a yacht, not a cruise ship. The only guests that should be sleeping there are diplomats or whatever who are on extended business. Otherwise you're going to use it for exactly what you use actual yachts for: parties and/or business meetings.

Right now though, I could cram the entire playerbase of a server onto my 600i and it wouldn't even seem that crowded, so the 890 jump is definitely overkill for the time being.

If you want to complain about the lack of particular features, the buggy nature of the alpha game play, or that the current flight mechanics are awful I won't argue.

The only thing from the trailer that is actually in the game is the ship, and even that is completely empty.
Well you honestly have not played the game. The ship and all the furnishings inside of it is there. The city planet is there. The ships attacking it is there. The turrets defending it is there. Maybe you can play sometime when a freefly event comes up.

How can this work for my character? Is "lifestyle" a profession? Is it a "mission"? Maybe the owner of that ship will take inside NPCs that wants to take a tour around the verse and party on paying a huge amount of money?
I don't see any other use for this ship....maybe someone else can clarify this.
It's supposed to be one of the VIP Escort vehicles (others being 600i, RSI Constellation, etc). VIPs could be either players or NPCs. You would be responsible for their service and safety and will be rated as such.
@@AdityaWaghmare so basically transporting NPCs from one place to another.... Anyhow, that kind of gameplay will take years more to find its way in the game. So there is no need for that ship any time soon.

I still need to see the game systems that make this particular type of ship worth it. Is this just going to be an RP players ship or will there really be content to make investing in this thing worth it. I mean with cash or uec. I know they’ve said there will be luxury ferry type missions but that’s kind of vague.

Er, not really vague at all. The primary missions you would do with this ship are luxury tours and transport of VIPs.
@@Synthmilk Uh huh and what does that entail? How is that going to work? How much availability will there be of those mission types. If you apply some logical, critical thought it leaves a lot of questions. If you pledged real money for these types of ships how can you know the 890 jump is going to be worth that investment. It's a lot easier to quantify things like trading, combat and mining. Not as clear how profitable ferrying around VIPs will be, what challenges that will pose, etc.
@@GenericName007 It entails creating or accepting the relevent type of missions that fit in the luxury tour or VIP transport categories. It's impossible to predict availability for this other than to logically assume the more affluent the area, the more likely you are to find these kinds of missions. No different to logically assuming that the farther away from high traffic systems you get, the better the mining opportunities will be.
We know the 890 will be worth the investment just like we know any other ship will be worth the investment: because it's a game and we've been told we can make money with it. Just like we know the Orion will be worth it.
If you apply some critical thinking, it's easy to hypothesize the risks involved, it's high value cargo, but of a kind that others would want to capture, so it's unlikely they will seek your all out destruction, and will likely want to board your ship. Rare views will be desired for tours or parties, which means off the normal trade routs, which means inherently more dangerous than a VIP point to point transport run, very much like cargo hauling in general.
We know some of the more specific challenges as they've told us about hospitality gameplay, keeping the guests happy with food, drink and entertainment.
Taking real world examples, luxury transport is a highly profitable business.
All of your questions are easily answered with a little thought.
It's not worth it as a ship, it's a flex in game and is not really meant to be some kind of money maker. If you want to make money in game then industrial and military crafts are much preferred and often heavily outperform origin ships. I personally have a 400i and though it doesn't boast the best shields, large storage and maneuverability of other ships I love the sound design of the thrusters and the ship is gorgeous to me. I would take a ship I love over a ship that makes bank
I love this commercial and the Gatsby reference. The 890 Jump looks opulent and exactly like a ship J.Gatsby would go for in Star Citizen.

yeah, it's always a good idea to think of a game in alpha as complete. absolutely nothing, especially balance, will be done later. i mean why wait to balance a ship's firepower when you can do it before all systems are in place? now that's the real 5Head move!

My money is going to military capital ships but those ones are held back because of Squadron42 even though they have been completed for a while now, at least the Aegis ones. I have no interest in social gameplay in a super yacht.

Sometimes it seems to me, that SC fans really don't know about existense of other games. It's really funny to observe how they admire 7-years unfinished hugely overpriced project without any chance to be finished
I play all sorts of game on all sorts of platforms. I payed $45 for this game and it's been well worth it. I'm able to explore lots of places and board many peoples ships. I can do missions of different types. The game is still not very close to being finished, but I'm having loads of fun.
Obviously the marketing videos get more attention than the game itself.....however….nice work.

/sigh. it's an alpha tho, stuff is literally meant to only be optimized minimally because so much changes during this phase, don't you want to hit beta faster? let them keep adding stuff, then they can work on meaningful optimizations during beta. but i feel u on qol stuff, i just don't expect it at this stage of development.

Guys, this is the flagship of the game and the biggest most expensive flyable ship.. yet right now and for the past 3 weeks, you are unable to store the ship via the ASOP terminal... You basically take it out, fly it, land a ship in the bay, park a vehicle in the garage, store some cargo in the hold... go to store it and it hangs up... eventually it goes to a "Claim" status.. and then that takes multiple efforts and patience to get working ... broken badly! PLEASE FIX IT! On Council site, there are over 50 people experiencing this.

forgive me, but what is the logic you are employing here? the game is still being developed, the game is awaiting server meshing and server-side object container streaming before increasing the player count, and the game has increased in server capacity from 1 to 16 to 24 to 50 in the past. /sigh

@@Dowlphin phoenix is nice. The bar is really cool, better than the 600 bar. My main criticism is there's no nice entrance for guests and the restroom is in the crew area. It has a jacuzzi though, something the 600 desperately needs at this point. A ship without a jacuzzi is not a ship worth flying anymore

As I maybe older than you by 15-20 years I have found that there are so many other important things to be proud of. Like let's say my two baby daughters. A game is... just a game.
i love this ship but then you try to do the whole gatsby thing and get destroyed by the planets guns or B you run out of fuel extremely quickly in amophere
I rly hope in the future you'll really have the choice to take a lot of npc's on the 890J how really use the full interior with nice animations to give this beauty of a ship a sense.
