How lovely! And easy. I’m sure you get tired of making videos but right now this is my only way to get my quilting vibes. My mama has dementia and I can’t leave her to sew. But I can enjoy watching you sew. Thank you for sharing and making me laugh. ❤
Tammy, your situation is tough, I'm sorry. If I'm filling a need for you I'll continue serving up videos. God bless you for taking care of your mama. I hope Michelle will be as kind to me when it's my turn, TFW!!!😃😍🐥
Maybe you could find some kind of hand quilting you could do while being with your mom. I know its hard my mom had alzheimer and now my husband is starting with it. He lost his wallet and he falls a lot. He buys so much stuff and wasteful. He is not bad yet, but I can't control what he does. He wanted to shave his head bald hair was thin and he bought 4 or more of those head shavers and threw how many away. Then he paid $105 for one and now decided to let his hair grow back. I worked in a nursing home and one lady just walked all day. Her daughter came everyday to help feed her.
Oh I love this layer cake line of fabric! So bright and cheerful! Such a great beginner "go to" pattern Di! Thank you for the tape tip on the mat...I too think YOU are brilliant ya know.....❤
I hear quilters gasping across the internet at you “wasting” that inch of fabric! lol. I’m glad it’ll go into the string bin! If you had wanted to sew a few more seams you could have made 2 cuts the other direction and ended up with a 9 patch kind of thing but a finished quilt is better than perfect! Beautiful!
😂🤣😂🤣 and then let me know, right? Copycat Quilter? I thought of cutting it the other direction but also just wanted a little bit of mindless sewing to get me back into the swing of things. Thanks for watching.👍🏼😊♥️🐥
Like this pattern but I prefer total scrappy look. I have bought some layer cakes but I mix them up and throw in my own fabrics. Total scraps just looks so rich to me. I am 77 now. I have a longarm. I had a business long ago but now I like simple patterns with big pieces! Thank. You
Beautiful quilt, I love the colors! I recommend using a stripology ruler for this if you have one for both the initial cutting and then squaring up. It makes this fast and easy. I rarely use any other rulers anymore.
@@sisterchicksquilting you won't regret it. I have more accuracy and can cut faster with it. It saves time and actually makes cutting fun:) I do love the colors on that layer cake, even if it is not available anymore. Such a happy quilt!
Just my opinion but it’s better to mark your ruler than the mat. This prevents multiple cuts in the same place. Also when you use several layers of tape to mark the ruler, it creates a ledge that slides up against the side of the fabric quite nicely! Like the loc bloc rulers do.
I love this quilt! I also wanted to say that although I appreciated all of the creativity used in the panel quilt challenge, yours was my favorite! I have purchased panels that I’ve personally fallen out of love with. Your quilt has given me so many new and exciting ideas to do with them! I actually took them out of my donation pile and am going to borrow your nine patch idea and am super excited to see what happens! Vacations are the best, we have been to the Oregon Coast many times from western 🇨🇦. The transition is beautiful- thank you for sharing the washi tape tip
Hi Di and the Engineer!! I will often just want to do mindless sewing so I grab a layer cake and cut it up and sew it back together. Cute quilt top. Loved the fabric! ❤
Very nice. I know our brains all think different. I would have had to do the 3.5" then the 2.5" so that the would be on an even number (no halves) then the 4"
Thank you for doing the videos. I do love this quilt and how easy it looks to make. I loved your ideas of how you cut it up and stacked the material the way you wanted. What days do you do your videos. I would like to get in on the next one. When I find one. Sometimes it is years or months ago.

I love easy transition quilt pattern.. so so cute. I agree it is the fabric that makes the pattern. Thanks for sharing! Glad you had a relaxing and fun vacation with family! ❤❤ Welcome back!
The Oregon coast is magical, for sure! I'll be making this quilt because this is my season of simple quilts. I decided a couple of years ago to use fabric I've already paid for and not to try to outdo myself with every quilt. It's amazing how many simple, beautiful, cozy quilts I've gotten out of my stash and how many more I can still make out of it! I do love that light/clamp.
I was looking for a layer cake idea...think this will be the pattern. Thank you and Welcome Home to you, Michelle and the Engineer. So glad you had a week on the coast to build memories with family and to regroup for future projects!
Well, not really, this week we're vendors at a local quilt show, then next week it shoudl be done and I'm moving in. Hopefull, right befor your eyes🤓😍🐥
Oh boy! Now if I just remember this pattern when I get moved again (GRRR!), I have several layer cakes to use for that. I never know what to do with the layer cakes after I fall in love with them and buy them! Poor things just languish away in my drawers! I promise to make them. Hopefully, it won't take me more than three months to get settled back in! I love the fabric, and the simple design. As always, I appreciate you sharing your ideas!
This is a nice quilt. Glad you enjoyed your vacation. The Engineer was funny, had to look up troglodyte. Can’t wait to see what you have for us in the next video
Love the Easy Transition quilt. You are absolutely right about it being the fabric you choose, not necessarily the pattern. Thanks for another great idea. Now I have some quick, beautiful quilts to make with all of those layer cakes!
I'm so happy you enjoyed your vacation. Sounds wonderful and relaxing. We're planning on a vacation in CO mountains camping. I can't wait. I havent had a "real" vacation in 9 years.

Di, really love the quilt (hearts, light/dark solid). I find that 2-3 color quilts really allows the geometry to pop. Your Easy Transition would serve as a quick and charming project. Very clever cutting. HOWEVER.... Girl, get yourself a Stripology Ruler (XL) It is an investment, but I guarantee you this: you will save time and fabric (cause no bad cuts). Because you are a business woman, the time that you save cutting is time that you can be long arming for your customers or making your videos--both of which are time consuming. (And of course all of the needful things in life too)
