Thanks for the tutorial I have the perfect layer cakes. I don’t pay to much attention to the exact sizes when using 10” precuts before sewing together since I always press and trim up. I sew all of my 4 patches together press & trim to size and do the same for hst. When making hst with 10” pieces you will never get two 10” hst in return, they will always trim up at 9 1/2” so if they are a tiny bit off it doesn’t really matter. The reason I prefer precuts to yardage is that my all in one cutting/sewing/pressing space is the size of half of an ironing board so for me precuts work better then yardage. When I need to cut yardage for borders or backings I go to my lqs and use their cutting table.
Jamie, I wish I could remember who to give credit to, but I don’t. Regarding the precut sizing. Some companies include the peak of the pinched edges and some measure from the valley edge. I had a similar situation with 2 different manufacturers of layer cakes. Now I always measure all my precuts. 🌻💕🧵 Love the colors in this quilt and the pattern!
I really love this quilt! I have some fabric that would be perfect to make this quilt. It may just have to be one of my next makes! That is for sharing!
Different size happens alot with different mfg. They all use different mfg for die cuts, just like jelly rolls some measure from peaks others in the valley. I would buy both of same brand to try to avoid
Thank you, I just put a small border and the sides and now I have to quilt it. I thought seriously about taking it Busy Lady for them to quilt. Thanks for watching and happy sewing 😊
It's Scrappy Time!! Star Chain Scrappy Quilt Tutorial th-cam.com/video/aiDNBTAyz7E/w-d-xo.html This is the scrappy video tutorial version of the quilt. I also share a block that is not made with scraps. Thanks for watching and happy sewing 😊
I know exactly what you mean. The struggle is real. I bought a quilt kit and it had no extra fabric and the layer cake was almost 10inches. I had to cut carefully and use a scant quarter inch. I will never order another kit from that shop. I will only order kits from FQS
So disappointing and annoying that you can’t trust precuts to be the size advertised 🤬 Having to measure and trim may not be a huge deal on large precuts, but when you have packets of charm squares (or minis) it is a total waste of time and energy. Might as well get yardage which is much cheaper.
Love that it makes a larger block. Will have to give this block a try in the larger size; as I have left over layer squares floating around.

Yes, I do love it when I don’t have to press a lot of yardage. Thanks so much for watching and happy sewing 😊

Pillow case? Table topper? Great idea Jamie, beautiful quilt top
I’m thinking a pillow. It will be a perfect size for an 18” pillow form. Thanks for watching and happy sewing 😊
If you trim your HSTs before you press them open, you only have to make two cuts instead of four.
@@dorothyyoung8231 yes , I used my square ruler and did that on a majority of the blocks. Thanks for watching and happy quitting 😊
Thanks for shring
Love your quilt 💙🤍🩶
Thank you so much 😊
I love the quilt you roll out at the beginning of the tutorial! Is there a pattern for it? Thank you.

Where can I buy the Scrappy Time pattern? Only two patterns show in The Quilting Compound website.
@@glendaporter4362 I don’t have a pattern written yet, just the video tutorial. Sorry, I’m working on it. Have a great day and happy sewing 😊
Would it be easier when you size the blocks
Jacob’s ladder pattern
Yes, I think it’s called that too. Thanks for watching and happy sewing 😊

Jamie, how can I get this pattern? I checked your website but it only shows 2 patterns on it.
I’m sorry, all I have is the video tutorial. Hopefully one day I be able to get one on my website. Thanks for watching and happy sewing 😊
Can you use a layer cake that doesn’t have 2 of each print?
I would say yes, it would be just a little more scrappy. Thanks for watching and happy sewing 😊
Could you trim all the blocks first?
All of the sewn blocks? Or the 10” squares? Yes you can do both actually. I hope that answered your question 🤓
Cut down your ripped block and use it for your label.
