    Quick note! Where is the XP-Pen 13.3 review? I ran into some hardware problems when reviewing it, they are sending me a new unit to review, I'll get it up as soon as I can.

    As far as the 27 inch iPad thing, I totally agree that it wouldn't be very useful. However, I really wish Apple would release a display with Apple Pencil compatibility for Mac programs. Basically, a Cintiq or Dell Canvas specifically for Macs.

    1.) Thanks for getting my last name correct! You did what every teacher in grade school could not 2.)Thanks for linking my review! I love your stuff so it means a lot! 3.) Though the wobbly lines were an issue, they were only an issue when drawing slowly, the bigger problem I had was when using brushes where the transparency is affected by the pressure because it paints unevenly. Like there would be blops of darker strokes when I was trying to get a smooth transition if that makes any sense. Whether I was going slow or fast the problem would happen there.
    I thought maybe it was my computer but I hooked it up to a completely different one and the issue remained both in PS and sketchable. Still, aside from that it's a damn fine device.

    I'm pretty sure they just meant a big screen with apple pencil support (could be on a mac, a giant ipad or just as a monitor), which would be awesome tbh.
    also I'm pretty sure there are a few pens compatible with the canvas out there already, it's an older wacom digitizer from what I know, and there are a ton of solutions for hotkeys, even xp pen sells a remote.

    I Feel Like Apple should make their own Drawing Display like an Monitor or IMac but Touch Screen and Uses the Apple Pencil

    Not 27" ipad but 27" touch monitor and has ipad os onboard and also you could plug in your ipad as a second smaller monitor.

    Completely agree with you re: the eraser. It's a big waste of time. I even disable the rocker switch 'cause it keeps doing its thing (whatever I may have programmed) when I don't want it to. And on the matter of a button or keystroke to change from Screen mapping to Extend mode across 2 (or more) screens, I always lose the cursor momentarily: More time wasted. I just keep my mouse handy and use it (while still holding the stylus) to navigate to the other screen... I take it that the drawing experience is nowhere near the iPad Pro with Apple Pencil?

    Aside from this channel and Lawrence, I am not seeing anything on the canvas. Its like no one on TH-cam bought it. Shame, I think it has potential but the price with the VESA gets up there. Would love to try one though.

    Actually i notice a slight wobble in your dell canvas wobble test. Very slight compared to competitors, but IMO, still there. Yet tho I don't know if that was done in PS (imo, most jittery lines) or CSP, as , - and this is my own theory - I believe CSP, even with stabilization fully off, zero, still stabilizes the line at it (unless I've gotten really better with this of inking more than breathing, and now I compensate the hardware jitter somehow, lol...). And now I realize it was not just my impression, csp has the best stabilizer on the market. :) Too many ppl is saying this...
    I am not sure how good could be the newest PS CC surprisingly new added feature (line smoothing). Who knows, maybe improves CSP situation (but I strongly doubt it)
    I've seen several reviews of this dell canvas thing, and IMO, it's a winner. Just... let's hope with the release in January - maybe- of the cintiq 32, then the wondertastic 27 QHD goes down in price, and so, Dell Canvas would go even lower... THAT would be a genius golden purchase... Maybe. For illustration, having that space to work over is such a good thing.

    Hey, thanks for you review. Does the Dell Canvas integrate well with Microsoft Onenote? That will be my primary use for the Dell Canvas, and I'm not finding consistent results online on whether or note it will work with Onenote or not.

    Does anyone know if the Mircrosoft surface dial work with the Dell Canvas? I like the fact that it does not have to be on the screen to use it.

  • @craig8128
    @craig8128 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Brad, could you please elaborate on how you consider the Surface Studio and the Dell Canvas to be two totally different things? (Perhaps I should explain: when I first heard of the Surface Studio, I was quite excited, I thought to myself “this is my next computer!” And I tested one out at the MS store, and there was a lot to like about it ... but then Reality asserted itself: the price, the inability to upgrade. I unhappily decided I was going to have to wait some more. THEN along comes the Dell Canvas and it looks like it’s essentially the big drawing screen from the Surface Studio - and for an additional $1K I can hook it up to an i7 Lenovo with NVIDIA graphics and it’d be an awful lot like a Surface Studio but cheaper and upgradeable. So I guess I’m asking: what’s a Surface Studio got that a Dell Canvas + Lenovo i7 etc doesn’t have?). (I really enjoy your channel!)

    The Dell Canvas uses the same pens and digitizer from Wacom I think they licensed the tech from them. From the other reviews i have seen from Lawrence can draw i do belive he used the Wacom pen on the canvas and vise versa.

    • @thebradcolbow
      @thebradcolbow  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does use the same digitizers and it's really nice. I should have tried my other Wacom pens to see. I'm not sure if it does or not.

      I am hoping to get at least one in soon to replace a dead Wacom Cintiq. My hope is to faze out the Cintiq's and replace with the canvas over the next year or 2. we have about 30ish Wacoms and and only 5 are new enough to be able to use the newest drivers with windows 10.

  • @walterjunior2836
    @walterjunior2836 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    With bezel-less design of iPhone X I believe that Apple could pull out a 15 or 16inch screen for an iPad Pro that’s is not so much larger than the current one. Also, there is a rumor of Apple working on a native way to transform the iPad into a Cintiq. If those two things really happen (maybe a texture screen too) Wacom will have some pretty serious competition.

      GBCAwesome well that’s the downside of Apple , although the Canvas has no support to Mac either. Honestly, I saw so many drivers issues in Wacom forums that I would not blame Apple in that one.

    Question about drivers. I know you have to uninstall wacom drivers to use a huion device. Is it the same from this dell device? If I have wacom drivers installed, do I have to uninstall them to get this device to work?

    Hey im looking forward to buy tha 12.9" ipad because of the screem real estate but on the same time the size it self worries me will it be portable enough for me to carry around since i travel alot?

    • @StalkedByeMusic
      @StalkedByeMusic 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a apple 12.9 iPad that I use for drawing. Its frankly not that portable. If you plan to carry it in a backpack you could make it work, but for shoulder bags it's an awkward size. I recommend if you are going to be using it as a sketching tool and not as a professional tool to go with the smaller size.

    Most of us look at the dell Canvas as a surface Studio without the computer, thus the comparisons. Which is a good thing btw, dial and pen input on a real gpu is a great combo. Meantime I’ve opted for the 15” surface book 2.

    It completely boggles my mind how Apple seems determined to resist adding any kind of touch / multi-touch capability to their OSX computers. I am coming at this more from the direction of electronic music than from art / drawing / design - but it still feels like Apple mgmt is hanging on to some random statement Steve Jobs made 20+ years ago, in complete defiance of reality.

  • @darrenalbertson-digitaldus6227
    @darrenalbertson-digitaldus6227 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah, the whole eraser on the pen is such a lame argument anymore. Come into the 21st century, ppl-shortcut keys and on screen buttons are so much more practical.
    While I too think a 27” iPad Pro is impractical as a "tablet", a larger Cintiq-like touch monitor that works with the Pencil like it does with the Pro would be a dream come true.
