I really want a limited, 10 episode series about Vaders first year, getting his red lightsaber and hunting survivors, showing his pain between missions and so on
Vader built C-3PO as a child with scraps. Vader has so much resource and is still a genius. It’s reasonable to expect him to perfect his suit and abilities
So he did get the opportunity to upgrade his suit to something more state of the art but it's revealed that he may not survive the operation and so rejected it. As for minor fixes I don't think he had the opportunity as the suit was made substandard as punishment for failing to kil Obi-Wan and after the offer to improve the suit he acknowledges that the failings of the suit helped draw out his hate and anger giving him better connection to the dark side.
You are mistaken, yes his suit was like a living hell but he chose this to embrace his pain. He wanted to have pain to remind and at the same time distract him from what he had done, from what he once was. Darth Vader was Anakin in denial, a child unwilling to face what he had done but at the same time wanted to use this pain to feel his dark side to escape his feelings. He truly was lost. He had at least 3 opportunities to upgrade to a suite that would bare no pain but give him superhuman strength and speed but he chose the hard path. Showing that Anakin was always there; suffering... The book litterly says that sidous wanted vader to be in pain as a punishment. I’m sure your right cause I’ve read that he also wanted to be in pain as well but what sidious did also is true.
You are right. He had an opportunity to get comfortable, more advanced armor but he didnt take it. He wanted to feel the pain from Mustafar and that ultimately fueled his power and his rage.

Vader could have at some point, but really, the best thing that would have really helped would have been a cloned body and learning the essence Transfer from Palpatine. His lungs and insides were burnt up good too.
And remember that Yoda told him that Fear leads to anger, Anger leads to hate and Hate lead to suffering, He feared that he would lose his mother and Padme which ended up happening which lead to his anger towards the Jedi for not letting him help them, then to the duel on Mustafar when Obi Wan cut off all his real limbs minus the robotic one he felt betrayed by the very man he looked up to as more then just a friend but a brother in which he shouted out "I hate you" meaning all he had was nothing but hatred towàrds Obi-Wan and now as he put in the suit by Palpatine all he could do was suffer through the pain that the limitations had on his suit
Considering all the shit Vader constantly goes through, it's amazing he was still as powerful and feared as he was. It really does make me wonder what Anakin would have become had he been a little more clear headed on Mustafar. Whether he would have sided with the light or dark, or neither doesn't really interest me as much as just how powerful he would have become. I feel like I've heard or read somewhere that even his prowess in the force was handicapped because so much of his actual body was missing.

Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader, by James Luceno, has always been one of my top 5 'Legacy' novels. This posting did a Wonderful job of explaining and visualizing the pain and torment that Vader was forced to exist in, mentally as well as physically. Great job!
I can’t believe it Palpatine didn’t have recorders and cameras and transmitters etc put in the suit so he knew 100% everything Vader was doing saying and hearing
@@ash_j_williams i respectfully disagree that vader could have detected a wifi linkup between his synthetic eyeballs, earballs, and GPS. All of it is data gathered from outside the suit then transmitted by wires, fiber optics, etc....into Vader's nerves. All it would take is a SINGLE rerouted wire going to the back of his helmet, digitally recorded, and then transmitted when the suit sees vader is distracted or asleep or walking into the bridge of a destroyer. He could probably detect the Force (made by living things), but unlikely detect wifi, laser transmission, or even radio waves. Additionally, palpatine could have used a BIOLOGICAL transmitter, like he did in Heir the Empire where he planted a "beautiful" color reactive tree in the courtyard, but really, the tree just changes colors when it comes in contact with transmission vibrations, or sound vibrations, or something like that....but the point is that tree is technically a BIOLOGICAL microphone that Palpatine put a transmitter pod on a delay in the potted plant by the roots. The conversations or messages would be picked up by the tree, make "pretty colors for the coutryard," transmit to the roots, transmitters picks up the signal, saves it, uploads it to a spy network/probe droid later that day or weekend or whatever, when no one is around. In the book, this is how the Emperor was able to gather information from his political enemies in the senate when they'd meet to talk strategy. They would sweep the room and ourtyard for mcirophones but never picked up a MECHANICALmicrophone, so it was considered "safe." With this kind of tech and innovation, Vader would have a hard time knowing if, and when, his Desperate Vader Reality TV show as being transmitted to Palpatine's Netflix account.
I imagine he learned to focus and ignore some things and made alterations as needed so he could and would be an effective commander, Sith. And even still living being. As I imagine if he can't adequately see or so much as hear an discern enemies from ambient noises in almost overwhelming levels he'd made for a pretty easy target even for a pretty strong Sith in his severely injured natural condition otherwise. In addition to all the mods mentioned in the vid
Folks don't understand Sidious.. Vader wasn't some vital part of Sidious plan after he become emperor, he was a trophy. An amusing thing to remind him pf his success. If Palpatine really need Vader he would do everything in his power to give him the best medical treatment and a suit that would actually function properly. He didn't at least not until Vader finally understood his position and accept his place as Sidious trophy. Whe Sidious offer him a new and improved suit he declined, because he knew this would actually make him over confident and would quite possible be his demise... Think about Vader as Batman, Batman isn't the strongest super hero from the League, but he compensate by being prepared for every situation. If Vader accept the new suit he would ended up like Iron Man who rely way to much in his armor, and without it even some common thug can put him down.
they need to make Anakins story in stand alone series but has to be dark, as if Star Wars fans wouldnt lap it up, lets be honest this is what all fans really wanto see, not sure Disney can deliver the darkness required for such a story!
the OLD Disney could MAYBE do it. Old Disney gave us 101 Dalmations....which has a villain who wants to make a fur coat out of PUPPIES. Up until the last 15 years, I've often thought that has to be one of the most sinister motives of a villain...EVER. But....the newer disney couldnt hurt a Jiminiy Cricket, so i doubt we'll get it.
The lore behind Vader is so fascinating, it's no surprise why he always tops the best villain charts. George Lucas crafted a story for a tragic villain but one so detailed you not only feel sorry for him but you also hate him. That and how Palpatine knew Vader/Anakin was more powerful than he was so he intentionally kept him weaker. It's scary to imagine just how powerful Anakin could have become.
Darth Vader is the most feared amongst all sith Lords not even the emperor was feared as much as Darth Vader the suit is so terrifying that you know this person in it is dangerous ...

Anakin Skywalker literally suffered for months as he transitioned from Jedi apprentice into the Sith lord Darth Vader. He had blame others for his own consequences that he had inflicted on himself (Obi-Wan Kenobi because of their fight on Mustafar, Padme Abdallah for she would not run off with him as he grew darker in his nature & Yoda for his unique wisdom of long ages).
I wish there was a “darth Vader” game. Which took place at his peak. Exploring the galaxy and hunting Jedi down. level up system Leveling up his skills with the force. And different combos. Boss fights. Could even have side quest of him building his lightsaber amongst other things that palpatine would want you to do. It’s a dream
If vader was phsically able to use the same lightsaber skills that he (anakin) did against obi wan, then he would've destroyed literally everyone, even Luke
@@willstar1238 not Luke, Luke had the same potential as Anakin and I think I’m right in saying that Vader/anakin never intended to kill Luke, he let Luke beat him in ROTJ. Luke and Leia was Anakin’s redemption, the last thing he could do right, Vader knew this.
Vader despised his suit in the begining but as time went on he began to accept and embrace his pain, he understood that his pain gave him power like nothing else could.
Because he didn’t know the Essence Transfer technique that Palpatine used to make himself immortal. If a clone had been made (in legends one was actually made but it was inferior) Vader wouldn’t have been able to transfer his soul to it. Palpatine never properly trained Darth Vader, instead giving him more or less the same level of training as Maul or maybe Tyrannus. He purposely kept Vader weaker because he wasn’t stupid. Giving Vader his old body meant that Vader would have become more powerful than Palpatine even without the full training. And even then, Vader was still a threat. Palpatine never believed he would become a serious student of the Force. As a Jedi he studied the bare minimum. As a Sith he learned all manner of techniques on his own without Palpatine. Because he could no longer rely on brute strength. But on knowledge, wisdom, and proper training. In the end, he was more of a threat in the suit because his limitations pushed him to further himself. In his original body he was so weak Obi Wan could nearly kill him, due to his arrogance and because Obi-Wan didn’t just learn the bare minimum, he was already at master level during that time. He started finding holocrones and hiding them. And in his free time he would study. He may or may not have found old Sith books. It’s never been confirmed. And what techniques Palpatine did teach him, Vader took to insane levels. Vader would just concentrate on those techniques and make himself better at them. Which bothered Palpatine more than he wanted to admit. He was always afraid Darth Vader would actually overthrow him. Which is why he plotted against Vader as much as Vader plotted against him.
@@Cuban20 Impressive knowledge mate!! i watched a few storys about the force transfer but i didnt mean it that way (vader was defintly not able to). my idea would be rather simple, just pay the kaminos to clone him a body (obv more than capable of doing so) and transfer all bodyparts he needed (shouldnt also be a problem with med tech of their time). i dont get it why he didnt at least swapped his lungs, as this was his greatest weakness.....
@@alenhasanovic4232 Thank you my friend, I don’t actually know enough to answer that one question. There are only two possibilities I can think of. 1) Palpatine banned Vader from any kind of surgery. Remember the suit Vader wore was an inferior model. Palpatine didn’t want Vader being strong. He wanted to punish him for losing to Obi-Wan. So he purposefully ordered the droids to give him an inferior model. One that would heighten his disabilities instead of aid him against them. It may also have been a preemptive move to limit his power. Basically Darth Sidious was watching his own ass by attempting to make his apprentice weaker than him. He intentionally made the suit heavier and susceptible to electricity. So if one day the need came, he could simply use Force Lightning to kill him. Where other models had built-in insulation against electricity. So it’s not a stretch to think he banned Vader from any kind of cloning operation to get new body parts. It was part of his punishment and a way to limit him. And 2) He may not have survived In the new cannon, when Sidious realized how important and powerful Vader had become, he actually changed his mind. And decided to try and make Vader stronger. He wanted to give Vader a new and improved suit. But he has parts that are always attached to him. And there was a possibility he wouldn’t survive the suit transfer surgery. When he offered this to Vader, he declined the surgery. Stating he now liked the old suit and how it put him in constant pain and forced him to push himself further. Because that way he wouldn’t get lazy and weak and lose his touch. The old suit for all its limitations was vital to his training and his anger which gave him a stronger connection to the dark side. But I digress, Vader may not have survived any kind of surgery as far as we know. Maybe it just wasn’t plausible. What we do know is that Vader did actively try to regenerate his cells to regain his old powers back. The regeneration pod you see him in, in Rogue One was meant to stimulate his body’s natural healing and self regeneration. In the old cannon his chamber was meant to do that. So he was definitely looking for ways to repair himself. If it had been possible to do the surgery on Kamino with his own Clone DNA, I don’t think even Palpatine could command him not to take it. So if he didn’t have such a surgery, it probably wasn’t viable. At least not for him. In Legends, a rogue faction of Kamino Cloners made a Darth Vader clone. It looked just like Anakin and had all his memories even being Darth Vader. But, he came out mentally ill. The computer in Kamino gave the clone a suit meant to imitate Vader’s armored suit. Instead of a light saber, it wielded a weird flash light. Vader killed him and he called out to Padme before he died. I think it has something to do with Anakin being a raw creation of the Force. Maybe cloned parts were dangerous for him. I mean, how do you clone someone who was created by the Force? That’s bound to go bad somehow. And while this is Legends Material, it would provide an answer as to why he wouldn’t have had a clone even to scavenge for parts.
@@alenhasanovic4232 Yeah If I remember right even some of Greivous' tech was better than what was used in Vader's suit and Greivous' tech was old. Partially as a punishment and partial to fuel him and make him stronger (to a point), the suit was design to have him in constant pain. Though after after Palpatin realized how far Vader had pushed himself and how strong he had really become, maybe he should have given him a new suit that removed all the pain. Don't really know how that would turn out though because no pain equal less power but a good suit giving him full freedom of movement and even stronger arms and legs plus other gadgets that Vader might hide in the suit as he modifies it.
@@Cuban20 I wonder how much Sidious trained Tyrannus. Since Dooku was already one of the most powerful Jedi (Plagueis feared him). Think Dooku would be top 3 pre and during the phantom menace with Yoda and Windu. He only needed Dooku for his political presence. He was already strong, so Sidious didn’t really need to train him, only turn him. Wonder if there is any lore on Dooku’s training under Sidious.
Always wondered why Vaders lightsaber skills were so damn slow..cause he actually sucked due to his suit, but his power overcompensated for his handicap, makes sense. Always seemed to overpower people through the force or physical strength.
Can you imagine the releif he felt every time he took off his suit and was floating in his life support capsule? After super long days with his burned skin and wounds, inside a metal uncomfortable armour, causing him constant pain. Like having cooled water on your burned skin...

This was a great novel for Vader development, I thought the descriptions of the pain Anakin was in during those early weeks was particularly effective.
I reaaally like this type of video. Facts but well curated facts, so well actually that I couldn’t help but feel bad for Darth Vader when his story was being told.
In one of the books it said when Darth Sidious saw that Annikin had lost both arms he wanted to abandon him because you needed both flesh arms to conduct the siths blue lighting, the way he had .
No matter how many times I see the beginning of Rogue One where Vader holds the rebel to the ceiling with the force and then cuts him in half with the upward swing it's just as badass as the first time. That, to me, is how Vader should have been always portrayed, as much more brutal than he was. Just a straight up unconquerable force of nature.
The Emperor even told Yoda during their fight in episode 3 at some point Anakin would even surpass him, so keeping him imprisoned with his suffering is the only way the Emperor would be able to control him, but at the same time, Vader was the absolute ruler of the Galaxy with only the Emperor above him. He could of upgraded his suit decades ago!
It's amazing to think just how incredibly powerful vadar would have been if he had defeated obi wan then palpatine and reached his peak dark side form, he really would have been unstoppable even surpassing nihlus and his world destroying capabilities, even imagining what his abilities would have been if the suit wasn't made to hinder him but to enhance him, like letting him use force lightning, although the constant pain of the suit did feed his anger and therefore made him stronger with the dark side so maybe it was better for his power as is
The most sorry I felt for Anakin Skywalker was during Mustafar when Obi-Wan cut his arm and legs off and he got burned to where he was almost unrecognizable, if I was in his place I can only imagine that it would take me many years to get used to the suit and everything that was used just to keep him breathing
In canon he was able to actually modify his suit which u think makes more sense because if they went by legends continuity it would be hard to believe he would barely function
Totally awesome Darth Vader is without a doubt the most popular villain of all times. The information in this video is super intriguing, What an epic story that needs to be told. The torturous first year of the dark lord. I would really welcome more information surrounding the relationship between Anakin and Ahsoka, the eventual split.
I never understood this, why did Vader never go and get a much better improved suit? Nothing was stopping him, is it because he wanted to feel the pain all the time?
I was just thinking that. Listening to James Earl Jones and the dude that plays Anakin, its like where did he learn how to talk so dignified and intellectual?! Lol.
He didn't stop being the chosen one he brought balance to the force before the Disney adaptation he destroyed the Jedi and the Sith and in the end died therefore creating a neutral balance between the two that are no longer anything.
This is pretty cool. After all these years I finally did a whole SW marathon including Obi Wan and Rise of Skywalker..didnt read any comics but did watch everything including the cartoons. Always wondered why he was so angry and how he was so powerful. Makes sense now
I always felt so bad for Anakin/Darth Vader led a stray then imprisoned physically and mentally. I loved this style of video. I want to see a video like this about Darth Bane and Darth Revan
i think vader didn’t modify his suit because he thought he deserved the pain it brought him because he himself admitted he hated himself more than anyone in the galaxy, aswell as if he mastered everything while in this uncomfortable suit, then he would be better than all as he does everything perfectly in this uncomfortable huge suit
Only as a force-user they can use Telekinesis, or the energy-field of their universe, Mace Windu is a Jedi(as a role, his alignment is different). The lightsaber with the real-life actors(the blade has no shadow for Mace Windu.), yet in the clone wars Lady Tano's green blade did cast a shadow(when she sliced two B-1 battle droids.)

You know what would have been funny? If in addition to the stuff you described in this video, if Palpatine had lined Vader's suit with sand as a sick form of humor, because we all know how Anakin/Vader feels about sand.
that is a great idea... just not in disneys hands. vader would be sidelined by 3 female dark side force users and he would explore his homosexual, trans-racial bullshit that Disney cooks up to further destroy the story of anakin/vader
If it werent for the purposely detrimental suit, Vader would've definitely been able to betray palpatine at some point and establish himself as the new Master of the Sith.
With the resources available to him I would have thought that the initial inferior tech mentioned in his suit means that there was better tech available. So that he could have been easily upgraded. There is mention of better arm pistons. I would have expected all the audio stuff would have been upgraded to a tech level beyond what we already know how to do. And the interior lining would be totally comfortable as soon as he could get it done Accepting inferior tech should not have been even a consideration with his resources.
Yea Shryne ended up eating about a mile of torn of wood from their lightsaber fight, Vader used the force to impale the guy with like millions of splinters big and small.
I get that Sidius originaly designed a flawed and painful suit to punish Vader fo his failure in Mustafar... but wouldn't Vader have the time, resources, and autonomy to maybe get his suit replaced with a better one later on?? I mean he is the No.2 guy in the entire galaxy.
Has anyone else ever wondered what would have happened if the Tusken Warrior HADN'T MISSED when shooting at "little Ani" whilst driving in the Pod Race?
I imagine the feeling of waisted life, the utter contempt for himself at moments. The conflict at times i would imagine might be doubt toward his goal and the thought that he must continue regardless.
To imagine that he survived the pain whole 22 years (died at 45, became vader at 23 i read)…is mindblowing. Like If I was at his place, I would kill myself. 😵 I’m just so sad how life can change in a glimpse. Ahhh 🥺.
If Anakin was truly a tinkerer, he would be constantly improving his suit and would engage some of the resources of the empire to do so. I find it hard to believe that he would be satisfied with constant pain and awkwardness describe here.

Vader’s all about struggle and perseverance. That’s what makes him such a formidable presence.
Screaming to be freed. Thank the force for his son luke. 🙏🖤
The book litterly says that sidous wanted vader to be in pain as a punishment. I’m sure your right cause I’ve read that he also wanted to be in pain as well but what sidious did also is true.
What a beautiful comment. Nice 👌
You are right. He had an opportunity to get comfortable, more advanced armor but he didnt take it. He wanted to feel the pain from Mustafar and that ultimately fueled his power and his rage.
He could’ve upgraded and enhanced the suit behind Palpatine’s back pretty easily, he’s a very good mechanic and tinkerer
@End Qualified Immunity Now! What did she say that was wrong?
Loved this, I feel like his first year was exactly what I expected. Training while coping with depression

Lame
More like the Robocop remake.
Anakin Skywalker could've been healed properly but Palpatine being the cruel sadist he was wanted to suffer constantly as a reminder of his failures. According a recent revelation in an interview George Lucas said that Darth Vader could survive without his suit but that it would leave as a pile of nothing.
Wow I'm surprised he didn't take his life
How? Bacta doesn't regrow limbs. That's why Luke had the cybernetic hand.
@@richkenyon548 But the SW universe also has cloning and genetic-engineering so I can't see why he didn't have a new right hand and wrist cloned before being surgically attached.
@@nicholasmaude6906 unfortunately, since Disney did the whole legends thing with all the previous lore and I haven't watched everything or read the comics yet, I'm not sure what's Canon now, but in legends, the emperor hid away all the cloning technology. I imagine that it is still going to be the case in Canon, so Luke probably wouldn't have gotten to use it. Vader could have at some point, but really, the best thing that would have really helped would have been a cloned body and learning the essence Transfer from Palpatine. His lungs and insides were burnt up good too.
Not even Anakin
Holy shit
Considering all the shit Vader constantly goes through, it's amazing he was still as powerful and feared as he was. It really does make me wonder what Anakin would have become had he been a little more clear headed on Mustafar. Whether he would have sided with the light or dark, or neither doesn't really interest me as much as just how powerful he would have become. I feel like I've heard or read somewhere that even his prowess in the force was handicapped because so much of his actual body was missing.
If he was level headed he never would have made it to mustifar in the first place. He had already committed genocide at the Jedi temple. More then likely if he was level head he would have helped stop sidieus. Then walked away from everything all together. Realizing that the jedi had been controlled by the sith for decades. And where just as corrupt and full of bureaucrats as the sith

Even if he did I'm sure Vader would notice and crush them with the force
They would sweep the room and ourtyard for mcirophones but never picked up a MECHANICALmicrophone, so it was considered "safe."
With this kind of tech and innovation, Vader would have a hard time knowing if, and when, his Desperate Vader Reality TV show as being transmitted to Palpatine's Netflix account.

There's a scene in the 2017 comic where he's floating in a bacta tank with the suit laid out on a table in front of him and he's using the force to manipulate tools to tinker with and improve the suit.

Imagine if Anakin was given a non-bias armor, something not designed by Palpatine....
Much better duelist but not as angry
00:24 Anakin had nothing but sorrow in his eyes.
Padme Abdullah was truly the last straw for Anakin
Padme
It's not his fault for being manipulated by Palpatine......
@@fellowasp6768 I only mentioned the people that Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader put the blame on when he should have blamed himself.
Yodas wisdom of long age is the dark side, no more, no less. To be reborn as Grogu diagonal to time can´t be accepted.
And despite all of this, Vader was still the most powerful being in the galaxy.
*abeloth intensifies*
Vader despised his suit in the begining but as time went on he began to accept and embrace his pain, he understood that his pain gave him power like nothing else could.
the only thing that i dont understand, why tf hasnt he cloned all his damaged body parts and replaced them, there was plenty of time for that
Because he didn’t know the Essence Transfer technique that Palpatine used to make himself immortal.
And
2) He may not have survived
In the new cannon, when Sidious realized how important and powerful Vader had become, he actually changed his mind.

Definitely
You know what I just realized Vader was still wearing his burnt/scarred Jedi suit an internal/external reminder of what he once was
The Emperor even told Yoda during their fight in episode 3 at some point Anakin would even surpass him, so keeping him imprisoned with his suffering is the only way the Emperor would be able to control him, but at the same time, Vader was the absolute ruler of the Galaxy with only the Emperor above him. He could of upgraded his suit decades ago!
Crazy how he had all these hindrances and still proceeded on be the most feared and powerful being in the galaxy
It's amazing to think just how incredibly powerful vadar would have been if he had defeated obi wan then palpatine and reached his peak dark side form, he really would have been unstoppable even surpassing nihlus and his world destroying capabilities, even imagining what his abilities would have been if the suit wasn't made to hinder him but to enhance him, like letting him use force lightning, although the constant pain of the suit did feed his anger and therefore made him stronger with the dark side so maybe it was better for his power as is
I like this format and I appreciate letting us know where it’s being pulled from(canon, legends).
We need a video on Lando !!
That last battle where he told him who he was is so intence
You would think he would have the suit completely rebuilt within the 1st year
In canon he was able to actually modify his suit which u think makes more sense because if they went by legends continuity it would be hard to believe he would barely function
It’s crazy to think he was as skilled as he was when he had all of this going on.
I feel like the way vader talks and the words he chooses is not at all how anakin would talk at all it's literally like they're two different people.

Anakin basically put himself in jail since every waking moment as vader was hell. Its crazy he was still able to fight with such lack of sleep.
This is pretty cool. After all these years I finally did a whole SW marathon including Obi Wan and Rise of Skywalker..didnt read any comics but did watch everything including the cartoons.

This is so disturbing and sad. God. If I were Vader I would have gone insane from the physical and mental pain.
Great content!! Masterfully explained
Could you imagine silencing a room just with your presence... Awesome 😎😂
Anakin looks like the Joker in the Thumbnail
They are BOTH victims of society!😅
@@Facade953 very true and I forgot to mention he looks somewhat like Heath Ledgers Joker if you look at the thumbnail closely
It’s simple… we kill the Jedi
To imagine that he survived the pain whole 22 years (died at 45, became vader at 23 i read)…is mindblowing. Like If I was at his place, I would kill myself. 😵
I’m just so sad how life can change in a glimpse. Ahhh 🥺.
If Anakin was truly a tinkerer, he would be constantly improving his suit and would engage some of the resources of the empire to do so. I find it hard to believe that he would be satisfied with constant pain and awkwardness describe here.
Pain is power
@@reece184 I agree that maybe a Sith edict but what does clumsiness get you?
In the new comics he does improve his suit some.
He did make gradual improvements on it over the years
