    I think part of why Luke is so powerful in Legends is because he is mostly self-taught, and doesn't think something is impossible, because no Jedi is telling him that it can't be done. He achieves things thought to be impossible because he stopped thinking things were impossible.

      That was the main lesson Yoda taught him. " Do or do not, there is no try" Yoda
      "I don't believe it!" Luke
      "That is why you failed" Yoda
      Luke was taught there was no limit to the force, while Anakin was always restricted .

      @@mewtwo389 I believe it wasn't the Jedi's last chance, the whole time it is the force. Jedi are (for the most part) willing servants of the force. Sith/Dark Jedi believe they bend force to their will but (again), I believe they are also unknowing slaves to it. Whenever one side of the force grows too strong or has "cleared the galaxy" of the opposing side, the force will create one who can at least begin to return the itself back to balance. I also think that the Force operates at close to a galactic time scale.

The statement you put out was actually from the legends version of Vader where he lost a large majority of his midichlorian count. Instead in disneys canon, Vader never lost his midichlorian count , he just never reached his potential due to the mental strain he put on himeself over padme dying by his hand as said by palpatine. He also went on to become the greatest duelist in history even surpassing yoda and sidious in terms of raw power and dueling. Rotj Vader was stated to be Anakin/Vader in his peak as said in the new canon. Most likely, if he had managed to turn Luke than Vader might have been able to get a hold of himself and become the most powerful force user in galactic history. Palps was scared of Vader in a sense that he felt that he had to be put down before he could make his move to take his throne hence the multiple attempts on vaders life.( if Yuu don’t believe me look it up)

    When it comes to raw power, Anakin wins. But Luke's connection to the Force was in a sense, purer than his father's. Anakin's time with the Jedi, all the trauma and rules hindered him, while Luke's power grew more freely and uncorrupted by dogmatism. Being older when he started training, he had more freedom of mind and individual jugement. Overall, Luke is just a more balanced individual which in the end made him stronger than Anakin in the long run.

    Actually, Anakin was reduced to 40% of his potential, not 80%, according to Lucas.
    Lucas said Vader, post injury, was about 80% as powerful as the Emperor, but his full potential would have been to have been 200% (twice) the power of the Emperor.
    80% vs 200% is 40% of potential.

      In the same interview, Lucas stated that he once had the potential to be twice the power of the Emperor, before the injury.
      Ergo, if the Emperor's power level is x, then post-injury Vader is 0.8x, while pre-injury would be 2x. 0.8 / 2.0 = 0.4, or 40% as powerful as he could have been.

      @@Vuk3 I don't recall the exact quote sufficiently to recall whether Lucas meant Vader was 80% right after Mustafar, or if that's where he peaked out.
      Granted, there was always the potential to grow stronger, and Vader was always hoping to find a way, but being limited in the suit stifled growth, not to mention much of the power of the Emperor came from his KNOWLEDGE of the Dark Side - knowledge which he kept from Vader. Palpy was always trying to keep Vader from gaining the upper hand, partly because he was disappointed in his loss on Mustafar, and found him unworthy of the full teachings.

    A few key points I would like to make to demonstrate that the skill gap was a bit bigger with Luke easily dominating all criteria of combat and the force while Anakin/Vader is significantly better at pretty much everything else
    Luke:
    - Luke mastered all 7 forms (technically 9) forms of lightsaber combat as they were all rediscovered by his NJO at time he had the rank of master. He also invented strong, medium and light style AND mastered the 3 rings of defense. Overall he simply knew more
    - Luke used Djem So. This was particularly mentioned in the ROTJ Novelization which showed that Luke was learning as he fought and intrinsically was able to match his father's Djem So
    - In the ROTJ novelization it was also stated that Vader was not conflicted for the first half of the fight and was actually resolute about killing Luke MAINLY to foil the emperor's plans. This only changed after Luke disengaged repeatedly and flipped up to the higher platform (just before Vader's saber throw), with Luke dominating the entire fight while holding back and not even wanting to fight really (hence why he repeatedly disengaged)
    - Luke's attunement is also much higher than any other jedi or force user, which is how he was able to fully become one with the force via technique EARLY in his life, becoming a being of pure force power several times
    -Luke's hand to hand skills cannot be understated. Shattering Abeloth's ribs with a punch, kicking out the leg of darth Krayt, AND headlocking Abeloth to where she was screaming in fear and pain all while BOTH of them were draining his force power to empower themselves... nutty
    - Luke knows shatterpoint and (by the time he reached the rank of master) Vapaad which cannot be understated
    Overall he GREATLY surpasses Anakin/Vader in saber skill
    Anakin:
    - It cannot be overstated that Anakin is BY FAR the greater mechanic, engineer, and arguably pilot when compared to Luke. Anakin building his droids alone dwarfs most displays in SW as far as engineering is concerned, and his overall ability to repair pretty much anything speaks for itself. And while I think Luke is a fantastic pilot, Anakin can fly literally anything better than professionals and outshines Luke in versatility and manueverability as a pilot
    - Anakin's leader skills and knowledge of war is virtually unparalleled. Be it as a general or be it as 2nd in command, the guy has experienced 27 years of military service MINIMUM by the time of ROTJ. He is comparable to (and exceeds most) old republic jedi and sith

Vader/Anakin had all of the potential in the Universe and it got derailed due to some misguided decisions. So the Force theoretically corrected itself in the forms of Luke and Leia. Essentially giving itself two extra go's with the twins; should one of them turn to the darkside. Vader didn't seem jealous of Luke's immense potential. Rather proud that his son had the same potential. Just goes to show the audience that Anakin would've been a great dad had Palpatine not been in the way. A good father always desires success for their children and Anakin/Vader as twisted as it was showed glimmers of that. I think the only way to answer this question is by getting George Lucas to direct a What If? Episode of Star Wars specifically on a fully realized Chosen One vs The Surrogate chosen one.

      I just freaking thought of this. You know how on Mortis the father wanted Anakin to take his place but wouldn’t. And once anakin lost to obiwan the force used Luke and Leia to be the light and dark side and ultimately anakin became the father 😳😳😳 I may be thinking to far but it just came to my head lol

      @ryakenn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@TwistedRevan actually not a bad interpretation of it. I like it... Maybe Luke or Leia could've taken up the mantle that Anakin left behind had they been given the same opportunity 🤔... Obi Wan & Maul believed Luke to be the Chosen One. As I said; Luke is a Surrogate Chosen One. Basically a substitute for Anakin. And I feel like Leia is kinda the wild card. Same potential as Anakin or Luke. It would be symbolic to have Vader as the Father and Luke as the physical manifestation of the Darkside and Leia as the Light....interesting thought.....I can only imagine how bad things would've been if a newly crowned Vader would've raised both of them in the Darkside....😳😳

      No doubt. And Anakin’s experience as a slave left him emotionally stunted, impulsive and angry. Luke basically grew up in a working class household. His fam wasn’t rich but it was healthy and stable. He also inherited a lot of Padme’s personality traits. Padme was a rich kid, straight up, but she was never afflicted with affluenza. She was genuinely selfless, warm, compassionate & patient. And she didn’t regard her royal and political obligations as a burden. Anakin had the highest potential with the force but with the loss of limbs he wasted it. Now as Vader he reached a higher level than he would have as Anakin but that was because he had to learn how to use the force without limbs.

      So I've heard this before. Does anybody have a quote from Lucas himself indicating that the loss of limbs diminished Vader's force potential? So did Luke losing his hand also diminish his force? Why does a body limb or loss of it diminish force potential? So if limb size diminishes force potential, how can a being as small as Yoda or Grogu have so much connection to the force? By the "standard" being that losing limbs or size of limbs diminishes force connection, then Yoda and Grogu shouldnt be that powerful at all.
      I dont believe that loss of limbs diminished one wit the force abilities of Luke or Vader. As Yoda said, he himself being small in stature yet he was powerful with the force. I dont believe body size or appendages had anything to do with connection to the force.

It makes him arrogant and to a degree, lazy. When you can rely on raw talent to get you through you do so as opposed to learning perfect control. Luke, like Goku, had to fight, train, and learn. I heard from a different video about Luke that Luke reaches like god level status in power. He masters all forms of saber combat and starts fighting sith gods. Like he surpasses anakin in terms of sheer power easily towards later legends material

  • @likeluptid
    @likeluptid 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I can answer that without even watching the video. The disabled war veteran whose very close association with so many other Jedi exposed him to the unique perspectives, wisdoms, and techniques that he no doubt added to his own repertoire. Anakin was already proficient with the Force some 14 years before Luke was even born. His experience in war and association among his peers is monolithic in size, compared to anything Luke can dream of. And he let Luke know that in Empire Strikes Back when he did to Luke exactly what Dooku had earlier done to him, to Anakin. Anakin lost a lot when lost his legs and arm, and he's nothing at all as Vader as he was as Anakin. But he's still much more experienced and wiser with the Force than Luke, except for that mistaken thinking that the Darkside makes you stronger. Luke would never stand a chance.

      @@luvmarr7224 According to George Lucas, and I HEARD him say it, Anakin's connection to the Force diminished the moment his limbs were amputated. Besides the fact that he very directly says it, it's very much implied in the very first Episode, "The Phantom Menace," that mitichlorians exist in all life forms, and machines are not alive. Bionic limbs have no life. That's logic easy to a 6-year-old.

    Anakin never “turned” to the dark side, he always was using the dark side. His force sensitivity was always powered by dark side energy. He was basically conceived by the force in favor of the dark side. Luke had just as much potential as anakin but had the light side flowing thru him as naturally as the dark side flowed thru anakin. Just cause someone has dark side energy flowing thru them tho, dosent make them evil. Dark side users can still love or feel the full scale of emotions other people can. He turned from the monster that he became to save Luke which was a selfless act that ultimately “saved” him. But even when he was a Jedi, you see nothing but the dark side flowing thru him even if he didn’t recognize it as such. The force conceived anakin and made his connection to the force ALMOST entirely connected to the dark side because he had to destroy the Jedi order which has completely currupted the light side of the force. The Jedi were to caught up in their own arrogance to put 2 and 2 together that bringing BALANCE at a time when they have dominated the force for so long would mean their ultimate destruction
    It would be interesting to see full powered anakin as the most powerful Sith Lord fight a full powered grand master Luke skywalker. It would be like palpatine vs yoda on steroids

    Anakin had 100% more potential but it was all burned away after his duel with Obi. After a few short years he was able to beat his dad with only basic training from two masters and reading Obi's journal. In legends only Abeloth was vastly more powerful.

    Ok so great vid btw I definitely agree with all the points you made.
    But if Luke And Anakin we’re to duel one another I feel like Luke would come out on top. Not because he was more powerful, but because of being level headed unlike Anakin who was more brash.
    Another thing to add if Anakin was fighting for someone say for example Padme or Obi Wan his anger would most likely over power and overwhelm Luke. Similarly how we saw in Return of the Jedi how Luke used his anger to defeat Vader. However he was able to come back and maintain in the light.
    It is important to note Anakin had way more potential then Luke being the chosen one and many people think it was Luke, but I’m reality it was Anakin because he did in the end bring balance to the force.
    But aside from that if Anakin were to meet his full potential he would beat legends Luke no contest being the chosen one.

    Around the age of 23, when both were about to choose to either fall to the Dark Side or denounce it, I'd say Anakin was a decent chunk more powerful, though both Vader and post-RotJ Luke were far more powerful than these two were.
    (Yes, I accept the canonical way Vader ended up, because the loss of potential in the Force through cuts and burns doesn't make sense to me. The Force isn't just a number of cells)

    In both legends and canon I'd say Luke was more powerful, more skilled, and a better person. However if Anikin hadn't been injured by Obi-Wan shortly after becoming Darth Vader I definitely think Darth Vader (uninjured) would have been more powerful in the force and a better fighter than Luke. It would be interesting to see a what if scenario though because if a few things changed it could change everything. Who knows what a more powerful Darth Vader would inspire Luke to achieve. They might have even just become more powerful equals.

    From experience of having twin children, I believe Luke would've turned out exactly as he did...what I've learned from observation with twins is a difference from children born single (even those with existing siblings)...they have always been part of a "unit" & sharing similar to Luke never appearing power hungry as well as the opposite characteristics of the Sith (wanting power for themselves)...I believe THAT was the force correction a lot of ppl miss, splitting the "chosen one" into 2, sharing from birth...even if it's subconscious it's still there...Luke & Leia were born as a balance of the power of the chosen one & like their father b4 them, they brought balance to the force in their own ways...1 in the political arena & 1 in the arts...

    There is no “analysing” the fact is IF and again that’s IF so this is based on fact, anakin is a being of the force. Luke being his son makes him extremely strong, but anakin is made of pure midichlorians he is quite literally able to see the future… nothing is stopping full potential anakin

  • @R8FKL
    @R8FKL 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    When looking at some basic facts, you’ll come to realise the answer is obvious.
    Anakin’s Kyber Crystal is blue and Luke’s is green. A wielder with a blue crystal is lightsaber-dominant, whereas a wielder with a green crystal is force-dominant. In terms of strength in the force, their maximum power-output and capabilities were stated to be identical, but there is a clear difference when it comes to who would realise this potential and who would not.
    It’s one thing to be able to do something, it’s another to actually do it. Luke’s reliance on the force over Anakin’s reliance on his own physicality would put him above his father in fair duelling potential. It’s like using a starship as an on-world-only taxi, exclusively (can be the best taxi in the world, but it’s not really what it’s built for).

  • @InfinityOrNone
    @InfinityOrNone 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Legends has it as Luke, but I honestly think canon is much more interesting when it comes to this question. In canon, when it comes to the raw strength of his connection to the Force, it's no contest *at all* as we see Anakin/Vader do things like holding hundreds of tons of water in place, something Luke can't really compare to. However, Luke is much more skilled and flexible, having access to all sorts of specialized techniques and being the only character we really see to fluidly mix Force abilities and lightsaber combat, rather than needing to consciously switch from one to the other.
    Anakin/Vader is like a jackhammer, able to crush through pretty much any obstacle he can hit. Luke is like a handgun, not quite as strong in a total measure of power but able to deliver his strength in a more concentrated way at a much greater distance.

    Anakin

  • @haider_205
    @haider_205 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The first and most common argument for this question is that Luke and Anakin were equals. With George Lucas supposedly stating that Luke's potential in the force was equal to Anakin's. Though this doesn't make sense biologically as Anakin is the Father and Luke should have half of Anakin's potential.
    Really midicholrian counts don't make much sense in Star Wars if you think about it. A great example of this would be Palpatine. His parents weren't force sensitive at all and yet he was born with an extremely high force sensitivity even higher than Yoda.
    So the most reasonable answer would be that both FP Anakin and Legends Luke would be equal.
    However there is another argument that says otherwise, really depends on the way you interpret it. It is stated in this video here: th-cam.com/video/QTpbhoEIlWY/w-d-xo.html
    which I highly recommend, it's basically a list of Jedi from weakest to strongest in legends.
    The argument revolves around when Luke fights Abeloth.
    In the novel where Abeloth makes her debute, Luke himself states that Abeloth is a dozen times stronger than he is.
    Now we know that the Ones of Mortis kept Abeloth imprisoned until they died. In the novel it is mentioned that when Abeloth transformed into the monsterous creature, that the Father had to come in and save the Son and the Daughter from her and the trio fled to Mortis before imprisoning her behind the Maw cluster.
    This kinda implies that Abeloth is stronger than the Son and the Daughter however it is actually possible that the Son and Daughter were actually much stronger than Abeloth was and were only really scared and petrified after seeing their mother transform into a monster. I mean wouldn't any of us be terrified if our family members turned into some kind of weird tentacely Lovecraftian monster? We definitely would be.
    The Son and Daughter would also constantly go back to the Maw cluster to ensure that Abeloth didn't escape and if she did attempt to then they'd put her back in the Maw and the cycle continued until the Ones were killed in the Clone Wars show.
    When on Mortis and pretty much amped to his full potential Anakin can do this
    subdue both the Son and the Daughter, who if stronger or let's say even equal to Abeloth, should be a couple times stronger than GM Luke. Which in short means that Anakin at his peak can subdue and defeat beings a couple times stronger than Grand Master Luke and potentially even Abeloth. Which puts Full Potential Anakin at literally GOD tier and just outright stupid levels.
    However it is also possible that Luke if on Mortis could do the same thing and really this theory is quite stretched out if you think about, but IS POSSIBLE.
    So by this logic FP Anakin would be a dozen times stronger than GM Luke.
    Anakin wins this. At Full Potential, Anakin basically had the ability to tear the fabric of his universe. He would’ve surpassed Abeloth, the Father, and the Whills. GM Luke barely defeated the avatar of Abeloth. GM Luke is right below his full potential in my opinion. I feel like he would’ve had an easier time at full potential as that puts him on the level of either the Son or the Daughter.
    Anakin wins, no contest.
    Anakin at his peak would have replaced the Father as the leader of the Force Family.
    The Father was able to control the Son and Daughter and could probably defeat the Mother, Abeloth.
    Luke had to get a lot of help to defeat Abeloth.
    This is not downplaying Luke by any means, but Anakin is the chosen one for a reason. He was literally made by the force to stop the Sith after Plagueis experiments tried to control the Midiclorians.
    Anakin Skywalker at full power would win after the most monumental fight in all of Star Wars history.
    A bit of background about Abeloth - Abeloth was originally a human mortal who accidentally found herself in a dimension where she met the Father, the Son and the Daughter - a trio of immensely powerful Force Wielders who represented the Force, the Dark Side and the Light Side, respectively. They obviously transcended any Jedi or Sith, simply because they are personifications of the Force itself.
    The Son was constantly at war with the Daughter, representing the never-ending struggle between Dark and Light, until Abeloth was somehow able to reconcile the two. She became the Mother and maintained peace between her children, until she began to age and realized she would soon be separated from her family.
    In desperation, she drank from the Font of Power and bathed in the Pool of Knowledge, and morphed into a horrendous, monstrous entity that wielded power surpassing even that of the Son and the Daughter. She overpowered them both, and was apparently going to kill them both until the Father intervened and locked her away.
    ( She bathes in the Pool of Knowledge and drinks from the Font of Power without permission from her family. The Mortis entities soon discover their beloved Mother morphing and surging with uncontrollable Force energy. They realized that she has become an absolute monster.)
    Now, the only three beings in all of Star Wars to ever overpower the Son and the Daughter simultaneously are the Father, Abeloth and, yes, Anakin Skywalker. Anakin cowed the Son and the Daughter in a similar way to Abeloth in the Clone Wars episode “Altar of Mortis,” indicating that both are nearly equal in power.
    (Anakin - overpowers the Daugher and the Son while the Father watches on in awe.)
    However, Anakin was supposed to be the Father’s replacement, implying that the Chosen One at full power was probably equal to the Father, who was somewhat stronger than Abeloth. This, and the fact that Anakin was the Chosen One - which technically meant that he was destined to bring balance to the Force and defeat any being that challenged the balance - and so he would be “destined” to defeat Abeloth as well. In conclusion, Anakin should be able to defeat Abeloth as the Father was able to do so - albeit his relative lack of combat experience may make it a more difficult task.
    In short, Anakin wins - in a magnificent, bloody battle against Abeloth. So Full Potential Anakin is stronger than Grand Master Luke.

    Well if Anakin never turned to the Dark Side, Luke never would’ve seen the true affect of how much the Dark Side corrupts someone and never would’ve tried to stay anchored to the Light to save his Father. The Dark Side would’ve been more tempting without that insight and filter.

    Yk what’s funny with Luke and anakin Luke made the same mistake as anakin just didn’t cost the entire Jedi. Luke saw a future of kylo ren and went to kill him only making the wrong choice pushing him farther into that vision he had. Anakin saw a vision of his wife dying and by manipulation made the wrong choices pushing him further to the dark side. The only difference is Luke used his judgment poorly and let it get to him anakin was trying to prevent his wife’s death and got manipulated
