I am from Mandsaur the place which is mentioned in the report, and let me tell you one Big point missing here: In most of the cases, men of Bachara community force women of their own community ( and family) to work as sex workers as it is easy money for them and they can booze around. They don't want to work and live off their women's income. Women want to come out and live with dignity but their own family members won't let it happen and also crush anyone who tries to help them. The discrimination that happens IS NOT CASTE BASED but is due to these families working as sex workers. You go to any part of India and people do not want to be associated with or want their children to befriend a sex worker or sex worker's son/daughter. Now I am not saying here it is right. It IS wrong, and it IS discrimination, but it is profession based which happened to be the profession of one particular community. There's a big difference which this report missed and created a big misinterpretation !!

Untouchability did exist before but every jaati got its due be it in terms of land or tax exemptions. Europeans did the same thing in Rwanda by creating permanent caste identities by forcefully making tribes identify with one caste that ultimately led to civil war. So me & other Brahmins will follow our jaati dharm but that doesn't mean u don't give the requisite respect to the Harijans. I am from Mandsaur the place which is mentioned in the report, and let me tell you one Big point missing here:
In most of the cases, men of Bachara community force women of their own community ( and family) to work as sex workers as it is easy money for them and they can booze around. They don't want to work and live off their women's income. Women want to come out and live with dignity but their own family members won't let it happen and also crush anyone who tries to help them.
The discrimination that happens IS NOT CASTE BASED but is due to these families working as sex workers. You go to any part of India and people do not want to be associated with or want their children to befriend a sex worker or sex worker's son/daughter.
Now I am not saying here it is right. It IS wrong, and it IS discrimination, but it is profession based which happened to be the profession of one particular community. There's a big difference which this report missed and created a big misinterpretation !!
So you are trying to say that you know better than what the people living in the community are saying. There is blatant Caste Discrimination being done here and there's no excuse for it. Shame on you for trying to justify it.
First of all, I did not justify the discrimination if you read my comment; I said it is profession based not caste based. The term used by the report is wrong. Secondly, I can surely say something about what happens 40 kilometres from my home, and what I am seeing from childhood.

This is our 21st Century India? I really don’t know what to say? Where latest brands of latest Mercedes Benz and iPhones are goes out of stocks overnight. Many movies like Mardani, Simbha, Darbar and so on made on such topics but people just watch it for entertainment and forget. Untouchability did exist before but every jaati got its due be it in terms of land or tax exemptions. Europeans did the same thing in Rwanda by creating permanent caste identities by forcefully making tribes identify with one caste that ultimately led to civil war. So me & other Brahmins will follow our jaati dharm but that doesn't mean u don't give the requisite respect to the Harijans. Caste exploitation started with the British Zamindari system and it would end if reforms are done in agriculture sector & India industrialises.

Caste is not a problem in india but also in nepal . In nepal 2,3 months ago in lockdown a boy and his friends were killed because the boy was dalit and he loved a higher caste girl and also the whole village of the higher caste girl helped to kill the lower caste boy. Can you also make a caste documentary in nepal. Some nepalis say caste is not a problem but in most villages it is still a promble in big cities like pokhara and kathmandu in school there is no caste discrimination but in undeveloped villages dalit student are kept outside the classroom and higher caste are kept inside. The girls belonging to this community go far and wide for their 'work', as far as Mumbai. They visit their families atleast once a year on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, bringing various expensive gifts for their brothers who eagerly await their homecoming.
Girls having plain looks can't get to the greener pastures, they are left behind to strive for their livelihood. These type of girls unfortunately have to stand on the highway looking for probable customers. These girls often end up being treated badly and more often than not get a raw deal from their customers.
There is hardly any caste dimension to the whole affair, most of the customers hail from improvised rural backgrounds. The majority of customers include truck drivers, peasants, menial job workers, farmers, mechanics, etc.
If the caste altogether matters it would be noteworthy that the customers are mainly OBCs, Muslims, and yes Dalits itself. Less than 10% of the total customers per annum hail from the so-called upper caste triology.
Yes, you are right. Everyone is blaming all upper cast Hindus or the whole religion itself,when mostly it was the result of corrupt past generations and now they are pretty much themselves responsible for their current state.I have seen many lower cast government officers who forget their own community after getting rich, they do nothing for their own people and still these people want to blame the whole religion on the basis history of past centuries not even current century, where everything is changing and improving.
