As a Vietnamese living in Japan. I always abide by the rules of Japan and never would I try to make any change in this country. If something needs changing, it’s Japanese people who would make changes themselves. All I’m doing is to be a good person and to be grateful for what Japan has offered me, for the hospitality and tolerance of Japanese people despite the fact that my Japanese sucks. I don’t know why immigrants in France can’t even do that. If they don’t like how things are in France, they can just leave. How selfish, ignorant and self-centered could you be to make a whole country change to satisfy your needs?

As a Ukrainian I feel an unexplainable gratitude towards Europeans who gave us homes and financial support during our hard times! And whenever I see a fellow Ukrainian misbehaving I feel truly ashamed and obligated to call this out. Because the best thing we can do as refugees is to try to understand the new culture and adjust us to the new system. In our homeland we are rulers, but we are guests here and have to behave as guests.
And from my personal perspective I absolutely don’t understand some others migrants/refugees behavior. If you want to rule and make changes, go to your homeland and do it. Don’t disrespect and destroy European countries that gave you everything your own country would never give you.

If my teacher in high school was calling black kids in my class the N word to teach freedom of expression, how would that be received here in north america? That teacher would most likely get fired but not murdered. I think there may be a lesson in there for both extremes. Yes you should be allowed to say whatever you want without getting murdered for it but also there should be consequences to saying stuff that's out of line (especially in school). Then again.. it's just a fucking cartoon of some imaginary made up figure that someone CHOSE to believe in. Is it really on the same level of offense as calling black folks the N word? Not even close. I dunno. It sucks to have your faith mocked but at the same time, get over it. That goes for whatever faith you may subscribe to. I was devastated when I found out santa wasn't real. The West invaded the East, stole its wealth, supported any dictator in the East, supported Israel, and closed eyes about killing Muslims in Kashmir, Burma, China, Palestine, and it has hundreds of TV channels that insult and challenge Islam day and night. Are these reasons not enough? In the emergence of extremists and despite all that Islam is the fastest spreading religion in the world; Do not believe what France says about freedom and equality. Every day they invent a new law to make French Muslims who were born in France live in hell; Do you know why because they are afraid of the spread of Islam in their country and all this that happens from angering Muslims is just a step to displace French Muslims for fear of increasing their numbers

It was my dream to go to France. I was in Nice when the terrorist attack in 2016 happened. Nice was absolutely a paradise city, so full of life, so vibrant, beautiful, colourful, I have never experienced any of that joie de vivre in any other place I've been so far. I remember a little girl happily playing with the water fountain one day before the attack and everything seemed so calm and heavenly that it made me cry. I didn't know that the exact place would be the setting for massacre the next day but maybe I had a strong premonition of the suffering that was to come. The next day I decided at the last minute not to join the crowd at the festivities as I felt unsafe and I remember seeing one policeman tense and worried so I guessed things were not right. I will never forget that night even though I did not witness anything. I often feel sorry I am alive while so many people and some children have perished. I don't know what I have done to deserve to be alive instead of them. Such an unbelievable tragedy. Nevertheless, I have met nice Muslim people there, too, always willing to help me out and the minorities in general were very obliging. Some of the victims of this blind attack were Muslim. One was a middle aged lady and another a child. I keep all the photos of the victims. Nice will never be the same place. I will never see it with the same eyes as before. But evil exists everywhere, in all countries and ethnicities. It is a sad world we live in. I wish hatred in any form could stop.... only peace and love should prevail.

Humor is a coping mechanism, and a way to explore the bigger issues. One of the prices payed for that freedom is hurt feelings, which I'll gladly pay when it "offends" me.
The fact that there are terrorist attacks on humor means that it has hit on something that absolutely should be explored further. Not going deeper means that a huge issue is allowed to remain. I don’t understand why it’s so hard for some people. You don’t go there to make the locals abide by your rules when you’re the foreigner.
Edit: Before people keep misunderstanding, I have changed my stance slightly. I wish that we could keep some of our own customs but it's also good to respect the home country at the same time and find middle ground.
Edit 2: The more recent replies kinda prove my point of why the govt has to do this lol, this is why some people don't take religious people seriously but I understand it's just the loud minority. No hate towards the decent religious people.

I am French and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get a lot of hate for this, but honestly from what I've seen it looks like many of them are actually trying to make us hate them.
First of all I know that it's not the case for every muslim, and I'm sorry if I offend those who 'behave well', but I'll be speaking based on my own experience. I have no problem with people having different religions. But I witnessed several muslims making a speech in public saying stuff like "Coran is the only thing that is true, I will rule the world and control you all". Every single male Muslim I ran into either looked down on me, or judged my outfit, or clearly tried to hit on me while I'm a teen and they're in their 40s. I also get judgemental glances from women even when I just wear a skirt. They want to wear their hijab or burqa, fine, but the problem with this is that you could literally be hiding anything under this. So in the context of such terrorist threats, you just don't feel safe. Having different cultures is fine but when you're in France you can't actually recognize the country's identity. I know it sounds really negative to say this but all our culture is being wiped out and because of extremists you don't feel safe, home anymore. So yeah. I'm sorry to be proud of my country. I'm sorry to feel threatened by extremists. But most importantly, I'm sorry many of you treat France that way even though we welcome y'all.

Besides, call me a liar if you want but no, that's what happened to me, many muslims hit on me, whether you like it or not, a muslim guy literally followed me from college a while ago. And there was indeed a guy in the bus who kept yelling "The Coran will rule and y'all will be our instruments and will have no choice but convert". Whether you agree with France's idea of secularism or not is totally up to your opinion. However, the French people have every right to defend themselves and not be told what to do by a group of outsiders who were graciously offered a place to stay in a time of need.

Imagine being given an opportunity to live in the heart of Europe and instead of enjoying the beauty of European culture and become a part of peaceful society you just violate everything you touch from historical buildings to women.

The ,,beauty" of europe and peacefull society... yh yh what a lie. I m born in germany and face racism on a daily basis just because of my middle eastern looks. I m studying mechanical engineering, i speak the language better then native germans and i still face racism on a daily basis. Sorry but i see nothing beautiful there. Just some hypocrits who feel superior then others and try to pinout the behaviours of others while failing to reflect their owns. A continent build with blood. Build with resources stolen from other countries but they are still the ones who try to lecture others about humanity. The ones who have the highest record auf caused deaths in history. Who keep destroying the world by selffish money driven behaviour. What a joke
