While the battle system can be tedious (especially when farming for experience), it really shines during the battles with organisation 13. It requires patience, good judgement and skilled handling of both the cards as well as the combos. This kind of combat I really like.
I agree, albeit to me it also just in general takes a bit before i feel like i am comfy with the deck i build.. like starting out it was cumbersome not having lots of options
When I was sure that the ps2 was dead, Square Enix released this out of the blue. I got it for Christmas and it prompted me to dust off my ps2 and play it. Marluxia is one of my favorite villains in the series because of how personal it is with him. Unlike Xehanort who just wants to destroy everything. I loved this game both on the ps2 and GBA. First game you can play as Riku; and the combat system isn’t as terrible as everyone makes it out to be. It’s actually pretty easy to get quite overpowered in this one.
Both GBA and remake versions of this game are too easy. I like the idea of the battle system and I like the game, but it's way too easily to exploit. The raids on the GBA version hit the entire screen and if positioned correctly hit bosses multiple times, sleights in general are overpowered on the remake and bosses can't punish since they almost always get stunlocked by sleights.
It was also because you had 360 degree movement with a D-Pad, not exactly the best thing to use for a fight like this. Imagine doing Data Marluxia from KH2 Final Mix with a D-Pad.
Onee Chan To a far bigger extent in my opinion. The COM version is one of my most dreaded game experiences. I was only six or seven years old and it still haunts me to this day. Riku Replica, Marluxia, and especially Ansem destroyed me many times.
kind of wish Square could have used the opportunity to have Riku be a guest party member in this fight. 1 Card = a three hit combo 2 cards = Dark Firaga 3 cards = Dark Aura
I see lots of persons complaining about the card system but i actually like it, it isn't hard if you have the right cards, this game is pretty good if you dedicate time to learn how to play
I know this is a pretty late reply but honestly my problem with the game is that I kinda learned how to play it TO well and made the game an absoulute cake walk on proud mode. It got pretty boring near the end to say the least.
I was so scared that I would keep on failing this boss but the first form I only died 2 and the other forms I didn’t die at all. This was surprisingly easy
Here's how I did it. Open with Genie Jafar to reduce the chance he can card break you, and either a Vexen or Riku card if you have the chance Immediately hit him with a tornado to immobilize and then stun him. Follow up with lethal frame. Rinse and repeat. Rising storm is also very useful against him, and I highly recommend exploiting the window from him being stunned to either heal or pop an elixir.
Better strategy: Use a deck only made of attack and healing cards, and roxas card. Even though Roxas's card will not get you to beat him you can still get a lot of hp down
Joseph Allen same here and Vexen almost made me rage quit this game but after finally getting here I realize how cheap he is compared to other bosses 🤬
I came up with a good strategy while I was beaten relentlessly. The three spinning auras would force him to teleport to me if I get stuck in them, which gave me a gaurenteed lethal frame (most of the time). It took a while to get used to the combat system but it was fun, especially with the boss fights.
Vitaminh D I mean I did manage to get the hang of the card system, but I prefer other KH games where I can just mash the X button down repeatedly than have to use strategy with cards.

And yeah, the worlds exploration is the woooooooooorst.

Maybe you just got bad luck? I noticed when playing sometimes bosses were either constantly on your ass or more spaced out and fair (also the Jafar card prob helped in this video)
I know this was remastered and voiced after kh2 so I can't really complain too much but I'm a little disappointed that Sora's voice isn't the same as the one in kh1. Idk something about having baby Sora for the first 2 games and then having older Sora voice show up for the first time in kh2 is something I would have liked.

I've always hated this game because of Vexen 2, I tried and failed, and tried and failed again and again. I quit this game many times, but just this week I finished Sora's story, and I'm playing R/R right now. I found this fight surprisingly fun and I really liked the music next to Lord of the Castle. Marluxia was insultingly easy to me compared to fucking Vexen and Riku 4. Ars Arcanum is my best friend.

Eh. I thought the Sora x Marluxia fights were surprisingly easy, actually. Just stack a deck with 0 cards, particularly keyblade attack ones, and he should be a breeze. The Riku x Ansem fight at the end of Riku's story IS a bitch to deal with, and will absolutely take several tries to do right. Hammering away at Ansem with duels and looking for openings to get meaningful high cards in is KEY to winning that fight. Good luck lol
marluxia is my favorite character and it sucks he's front man in a game most ppl will never play because the gameplay sucks. he will never be truly appreciated

Done thus part and can honestly say this is a terrible game worse out the lot on the last last bit of the boss and I am struggling so I'm thinking about just seeing cut scene and moving on because won't be long Until KH3 is out and I'm new to this
I could see how you don't like Re:CoM since you're new. After messing around with the card system awhile there's a lot of cool strategies you can make with the right cards. And make boss fights ez.

The Riku x Ansem fight at the end of Riku's story IS a bitch to deal with, and will absolutely take several tries to do right. Hammering away at Ansem with duels and looking for openings to get meaningful high cards in is KEY to winning that fight. Good luck lol

marluxia is my favorite character and it sucks he's front man in a game most ppl will never play because the gameplay sucks. he will never be truly appreciated
Use card breaks . They make the game so much easier just have some 0's in your deck and use them when any boss uses their sleights

@@Tosty3 10 months late, but really the difficulty of this game depends on how much you wish to learn the card system, you can completely break this game with really simple trickery.
Done thus part and can honestly say this is a terrible game worse out the lot on the last last bit of the boss and I am struggling so I'm thinking about just seeing cut scene and moving on because won't be long Until KH3 is out and I'm new to this
I could see how you don't like Re:CoM since you're new. After messing around with the card system awhile there's a lot of cool strategies you can make with the right cards. And make boss fights ez.
@@DEATHxTHExKIDx1 funny thing is I do special card combos like time stop Slash but it annoys me that I can't refresh cards and move at the same time while I recharge the Enemie comes quickly I've reached the last boss and given up just completed 356 days now on the next one
