The first game was Sora’s story, this one was just busy work for him. Though it was a nice little story about never forgetting your loved one’s. The story of the first game mostly continues through Riku. Though that’s probably because he had loose ends.
I love that you included ALL dialogue and not just cinematics. It is frustrating when you pause for a looooong time on one word sentences like "Fine." and so on tho lol. But thank you for the upload!
Just wanted to thank the uploader real quick. As hard as i tried, i couldn't handle the card system. But i still wanted the story. I got used to it I enjoyed beating the game for the most part, but I just couldn't go through Riku's story all the way I was done with the game, so I just watched his cutscenes
1:02:25 I love this part so much, this guy felt betrayed enough to align himself with darkness, only to find he was the one falling to the darkness, and suddenly, everyone he knows, everything he loves, is gone, and he is alone. He is now surrounded by people who taunt him and persuade him further down the dark path, as he struggles to keep his head above water. And even after everything, someone as pure and innocent as mickey mouse, still gives a shit about him. One of the more heartwrenching/touching moments of the series if you ask me!

Most of them brought by Sora. Riku is quite an interesting character, as much I hated him in the first game, he comes a long way to become a better person, and his development is very interesting.

Like, I'm still real new into Kingdom Hearts stuff, and I'm trying to know more stuff in terms of characters and stories, and these two parts I mentioned are two of my most favorited touching moments. I didn't have to see too much to know that Riku has been in a lot of pain and loneliness in the darkness. To see Mickey Mouse, of all characters, still give a shit about Riku and come right for him, despite everything, is super touching. It's the Mickey I grew up knowing and loving as a character. Caring, loving, selfless, and probably one of the best friends a person could ask for. That's especially true in the second part I mentioned. Like, Mickey wholeheartedly believes hell come through for Riku, even if Ansem were to win. These two points here have made my heart melt and kept a little faith in friends for me.

Because if their roles were reversed, he would probably feel the same way. And then he tries to comfort him as he's fading away... There's just something about that that speaks to me. Same, in my opinion Riku is one of the only "somebodies" that is worth any time in terms of story, (the others being the master of masters and the foretellers). The only other characters I feel warrent attention are the Nobodies, and Vanitas.
At the very least it was cool that you played him and Sora in 3D and that their story was going on simultaneously rather than Riku's story being locked behind finishing Sora's. The two make badass partners, as we all know from the Xemnas fight in KH2.

It wasn't until I got to Riku's side in COM that I went from casually watching to actually being into KH. I loved how the game portrayed his battle with darkness, how he cast away everything and became empty, walking the road between-- yet in the end, chose to keep himself that way. There was no purging the darkness or purifying him. He carries that trauma and owns it for himself. It was like: yes. KH just did something with Riku's arc that I feel like 70% of other series would mess up. That's when I knew that the KH series was going to be something special
@MyLazySundae Skipping COM does leave a lot out of Riku's story arc. I love the way his struggles in COM contrast with his resolve in DDD. He's indeed a very interesting character. In defense of Sora's character, I do see hints of him possibly going down a darker path with the whole "without them, I'm worthless" bit but we'll have to see where Nomura takes it.

Wow, people were right about how good the Chain of Memories story is. I'm finally ready to re-play KHII. It's been a long time coming I could never beat the notorious water boss as a kid and then I screwed my disc up. I'm finally going to finish one of my favorite games of all time! :D

wanna say thanks. I beat this game years ago, but got the ps4 edition recently. I struggled through Soras campaign, got the theme and jsut checked out on this. playing this game three times was enough.
Riku's story is way better than Sora's, by far, though it never made it worth playing CoM more than once (well, I did twice just because I wanted to play the PS2 port after the GBA original). Thanks for uploading the cutscenes so I didn't have to slog through the PS3 version just to watch the cutscenes in HD.

@@RealCGH True, people have access to most of them but there's still that barrier of wonky gameplay in some games. CoM is the infamous one but BBS and DDD essentially had a similar combat system rather than 2's gold standard

I just realized as much as Riku hates Ansem, which is understandable, he should at least be a little grateful towards him that he indirectly kept him alive. There were a bunch of fights that Riku got in where if he didn’t have Ansem’s dark mode, he would have either lost or gotten killed.

1:24:06 this take was so interesting, and there doesn't feel there was any resolution for Mickey on this point, like the plot point was forgotten about. There really should have been some developing thought for this hybridization and what it would mean for the lore. From hear on out Riku's arc was just about saving Sora, and the developing philosophy between integrating these two sides was forgotten about. I guess the light/good dark/bad dynamic is more feel-good and simpler, but still, might have given more interesting character development for the characters
"Riku" emo anime character at best. Has the power of darkness/damn near possessed by it. Choose to follow a road out side the norm using that same darkness for good reasons. His companions are a Creepy bandaged old man who is racist to nobodies, whom also is the original heart of Rikus darkness/Ansem(his nobody) "not letting Riku know that though" and Micky mouse, who is the King that is never home and one of the best keyblade masters.........great Character that Riku is.

I never understood all the hate this game gets. Personally I really liked the card based gameplay once you adjust to it. I only felt it was a bit on the easy side especially the Riku story.

wanna say thanks. I beat this game years ago, but got the ps4 edition recently. I struggled through Soras campaign, got the theme and jsut checked out on this. playing this game three times was enough.

Ansem in Chain Of Memories GBA he was not the first boss in the game but rather as the Final Boss for Riku

Riku's story is way better than Sora's, by far, though it never made it worth playing CoM more than once (well, I did twice just because I wanted to play the PS2 port after the GBA original). Thanks for uploading the cutscenes so I didn't have to slog through the PS3 version just to watch the cutscenes in HD.

Absolutely insane that such an integral part of the KH story is locked behind the horrible card gameplay of what was originally a GBA game. KH2 only makes sense with CoM knowledge.

@@KellyJoule i just finished the sora side and decided to just watch the riku side. CoM is definitely not my favorite gameplay style but i will admit towards the end of the game i figured out ny play style and finished the last 4 bosses pretty easily

@@RealCGH True, people have access to most of them but there's still that barrier of wonky gameplay in some games. CoM is the infamous one but BBS and DDD essentially had a similar combat system rather than 2's gold standard

I just realized as much as Riku hates Ansem, which is understandable, he should at least be a little grateful towards him that he indirectly kept him alive. There were a bunch of fights that Riku got in where if he didn’t have Ansem’s dark mode, he would have either lost or gotten killed.

1:24:06 this take was so interesting, and there doesn't feel there was any resolution for Mickey on this point, like the plot point was forgotten about. There really should have been some developing thought for this hybridization and what it would mean for the lore. From hear on out Riku's arc was just about saving Sora, and the developing philosophy between integrating these two sides was forgotten about. I guess the light/good dark/bad dynamic is more feel-good and simpler, but still,
might have given more interesting character development for the characters

"Riku" emo anime character at best. Has the power of darkness/damn near possessed by it. Choose to follow a road out side the norm using that same darkness for good reasons. His companions are a Creepy bandaged old man who is racist to nobodies, whom also is the original heart of Rikus darkness/Ansem(his nobody) "not letting Riku know that though" and Micky mouse, who is the King that is never home and one of the best keyblade masters.........great Character that Riku is.

I'll play Rechain again once I get a PS4. I beat Sora's portion and did the beginning of Riku's story & his was more fun to play through right off the bat so I'll come back to even though I watched his cutscenes.

But I really love Riku's story here! It's his turning point from arrogant smartass to cocky badass who decides to flip off those above him :)
I never understood all the hate this game gets. Personally I really liked the card based gameplay once you adjust to it. I only felt it was a bit on the easy side especially the Riku story.

@@alexlamazza3200 Yeah, but you never play/watch/read something just chronogically, but in the release order first. KH 2 was made to be played without you knowing anything more than kh1 and chain of memories, so watch 358/2 days before ruins part of the mistery of the game
