I love that you included ALL dialogue and not just cinematics. It is frustrating when you pause for a looooong time on one word sentences like "Fine." and so on tho lol. But thank you for the upload!

Just wanted to thank the uploader real quick. As hard as i tried, i couldn't handle the card system. But i still wanted the story. I watched both Soras and Rikus cutscenes, and i appreciate you for uploading this and allowing scrubs like me to have a loophole to avoid the card system in this game. xD Thanks again!

I tried the PS4 Remaster as well and also realized I still couldn't deal with the dumbass card system. Thank God there are cut scene summaries online. *lol*
I got used to it I enjoyed beating the game for the most part, but I just couldn't go through Riku's story all the way I was done with the game, so I just watched his cutscenes

I like how in their second meeting, Riku never belittles Repliku, or questions his actions. He simply picks up his blade (looking a bit sad), knowing he has to fight.. Because if their roles were reversed, he would probably feel the same way. And then he tries to comfort him as he's fading away... There's just something about that that speaks to me. One of the many reasons I love Riku.

Riku's story was so much more bearable. Sora was so time consuming and difficult.
Sora's home did got temporarily destroyed. If ya played the first game, you probably have seen how sad he looked like before starting his journey with Donald and Goofy. He's not confident and cheerful 24/7, but he sure stays positive by saving other worlds and finding his friends

The first game was Sora’s story, this one was just busy work for him. Though it was a nice little story about never forgetting your loved one’s. The story of the first game mostly continues through Riku. Though that’s probably because he had loose ends.

@@angelazaplotinsky1791 Yeah... But it was more out of sacrifice to save a friend. And in Kingdom hearts 2 Riku was himself formed as Ansem but he took absolute control of Ansem's form. So therefore, chain of memories basically explains how he was able to have absolute control of his darkness.
1:02:25 I love this part so much, this guy felt betrayed enough to align himself with darkness, only to find he was the one falling to the darkness, and suddenly, everyone he knows, everything he loves, is gone, and he is alone. He is now surrounded by people who taunt him and persuade him further down the dark path, as he struggles to keep his head above water. And even after everything, someone as pure and innocent as mickey mouse, still gives a shit about him. One of the more heartwrenching/touching moments of the series if you ask me!
@The Pikachu Brothers Well, to be honest, at the point of the series we are now, Riku has quite a lot of emotional supports; people have joined in the "lets cheer Riku up" community. Most of them brought by Sora. Riku is quite an interesting character, as much I hated him in the first game, he comes a long way to become a better person, and his development is very interesting.
Sora probably would've given a shit too, but he was busy playing with Marluxia :P it's good that Micky was there for him.

1:02:05-1:02:42 and 1:17:33-1:18:13 are my FAVORITE parts in this entire thing! Like, I'm still real new into Kingdom Hearts stuff, and I'm trying to know more stuff in terms of characters and stories, and these two parts I mentioned are two of my most favorited touching moments. I didn't have to see too much to know that Riku has been in a lot of pain and loneliness in the darkness. To see Mickey Mouse, of all characters, still give a shit about Riku and come right for him, despite everything, is super touching. It's the Mickey I grew up knowing and loving as a character. Caring, loving, selfless, and probably one of the best friends a person could ask for. That's especially true in the second part I mentioned. Like, Mickey wholeheartedly believes hell come through for Riku, even if Ansem were to win. These two points here have made my heart melt and kept a little faith in friends for me.

Same, in my opinion Riku is one of the only "somebodies" that is worth any time in terms of story, (the others being the master of masters and the foretellers). The only other characters I feel warrent attention are the Nobodies, and Vanitas.

Never played Riku's story mode but it nice to watch the cutscenes and understand what happened before KH2.
Absolutely insane that such an integral part of the KH story is locked behind the horrible card gameplay of what was originally a GBA game. KH2 only makes sense with CoM knowledge.

I slogged through Sora's campaign and then went on to watch this video at 2x speed, thank you for your service in uploading this. What an absolute trash fire of a game, pity the story is both pretty interesting and vital for the series.

Riku's story is way better than Sora's, by far, though it never made it worth playing CoM more than once (well, I did twice just because I wanted to play the PS2 port after the GBA original). Thanks for uploading the cutscenes so I didn't have to slog through the PS3 version just to watch the cutscenes in HD.

It wasn't until I got to Riku's side in COM that I went from casually watching to actually being into KH. I loved how the game portrayed his battle with darkness, how he cast away everything and became empty, walking the road between-- yet in the end, chose to keep himself that way. There was no purging the darkness or purifying him. He carries that trauma and owns it for himself. It was like: yes. KH just did something with Riku's arc that I feel like 70% of other series would mess up. That's when I knew that the KH series was going to be something special
@MyLazySundae Skipping COM does leave a lot out of Riku's story arc. I love the way his struggles in COM contrast with his resolve in DDD. He's indeed a very interesting character. In defense of Sora's character, I do see hints of him possibly going down a darker path with the whole "without them, I'm worthless" bit but we'll have to see where Nomura takes it.
This is a lot like what NieR does with it's different branches and different perspectives on the same events
"Riku" emo anime character at best. Has the power of darkness/damn near possessed by it. Choose to follow a road out side the norm using that same darkness for good reasons. His companions are a Creepy bandaged old man who is racist to nobodies, whom also is the original heart of Rikus darkness/Ansem(his nobody) "not letting Riku know that though" and Micky mouse, who is the King that is never home and one of the best keyblade masters.........great Character that Riku is.
Making Mickey one of my favourite characters was one of Square's greatest feats.

I just realized as much as Riku hates Ansem, which is understandable, he should at least be a little grateful towards him that he indirectly kept him alive. There were a bunch of fights that Riku got in where if he didn’t have Ansem’s dark mode, he would have either lost or gotten killed.

There really should have been some developing thought for this hybridization and what it would mean for the lore. From hear on out Riku's arc was just about saving Sora, and the developing philosophy between integrating these two sides was forgotten about. I guess the light/good dark/bad dynamic is more feel-good and simpler, but still,
might have given more interesting character development for the characters

Honestly feel bad skipping out on playing the game myself, since I do have it, but kh3 is coming out days after my birthday and I wanna buy it for my birthday so... Shame is only minor XD

Couldn't get through the first hour of that frustrating gameplay, don't feel bad. Stories should be enjoyed regardless of playing, though I understand it doesn't feel right that you didn't have to do the work but what's the point of suffering its a game
Don't play this play the one on the gba the card system makes more sense there
