Ok for people who struggling, make sure to pack some fire based cards and some healing magic. Start off by attacking when HE'S attacking. So wait until he plays a card and make sure to counter it with a attack or you won't get a hit in at all. For ice moves: when hes about to freeze you, look at how his arms getting ready. Right before he moves his arm, dodge roll to avoid getting trapped in the ice.
I agree I get about 3/4 of zexens health taken out and then he defeats me. Update: I finally defeated him both times, fire magic, dodge roll and a whole lot of physical attacks helped, Lethal Frame is your best friend with this boss fight.
@@robertdelrosario8080idk what weird sleight luck I had, but somehow I just ate through him, forgot to save, and then got killed by larxene on my first playthrough.
@@goergebobicles1351 I'm so sorry about that. If I recall, you don't get to save just after beating Riku before facing Larxene. I quit Chain of Memories because of Riku's stupidly OP attack and watched a walkthrough on how the game ended.
This was the fight which finally taught me the purpose of 0 cards lol, I knew they were important but I could never figure out why... Turns out they helped me massively by breaking most his sleights. ALSO SCREW THIS FIGHT IT TOOK ME WAY TOO LONG
I know the feeling, I've beaten R:COM a few weeks ago and this boss fight in particular gives me freaking PTSD lmao, if you're still stuck with him, bring three or more 0 cards to counter every sleight he throws at you, that's how I managed to beat him.
@@martinb5734 Yep. I did that and spammed the Sonic Blade sleight. It makes ground meat out of bosses. I just needed to move the story along. Thank goodness the story is interesting.

That’s where I’m at too. I was just prioritizing CP over sleights and everyone keeps saying you have to get sleights to beat the higher bosses…. I’m learning my lesson.
If you can’t beat ‘em, cheese em. Constantly, and I mean CONSTANTLY spam sonic blade. Have 3 hi-potion cards to reload, and vexen can’t do a thing about it. He may try to hit you with ice needles maybe, just glide over it.

@@GermanDragon221 yep. It works. You just need to time it right and watch how his hand moves. For twilight Town, during the big sword move, use glide to avoid the first 2 hits before he hits the ground.
Okay so I recently got into the KH series and I was going through this game and this boss is a BITCH. I couldn't beat it till I found this video and my suggestion is, use. Sonic. Blade. Literally the best attack against him if you have the CP for it (I had 733 CP used but I had a total of 750 available) I basically just kept spamming sonic blade till I ran out of key and used hi-potions and rinsed and repeated till he was dead and honestly it worked a little too well. I hope that if someone sees this comment I hope it helps then because this boss is so unforgiving.
I beat Vexen, and I see that shield ice he can moves then he stop moving his arms up and before ice will trap inside sora get freeze I have to dodge roll. Then I don't use Donald magic card ice but I use goofy tornado level 3 card hit that Vexen I have four card left run out I finally I beat him.
You can dodge his frozen attack. Do not ever use sleights unless you really need to. Wait until he plays a card then hit him before he finishes. Make sure your AC range is 6-9. Or 7-9 totaling 30 or 35 cards.
Piece of trash boss, smoked him with Lethal Frame and Firaga after several attempts, part of it is luck I swear Edit (post-2nd fight in Twilight): Literally this dude is so cheesable now. I made a deck with 3 "0" cards as safety to break his sleights. The rest of my deck was Fire. Spam Firaga from a distance, yet look towards him so it homes in from afar. Then use Mega-Ethers (and Cure if need be) to recharge your Fires.

Vexen , already as a shielder before it becomes very popular and the apex of all weapons (it’s not) in the recent times.

I was raging so hard with this boss. Had to go back, grind and then assemble a deck which allowed me to spam sonic blade through the whole fight.
That tactic works with every boss all the way to the last one who can fly. That one brought back the rage.
How do you clear a slate you have queued up and send the cards back to your hand?
If you go into settings to change the controls, it should tell you.
L2
Make sure to pack magic cards! You should be good if you use fire and lightning
I found him harder than I did in the original. Then again, I was overleveled in the original.

The first card you use in a sleight can not reappear unless if you use a hi potion or elixir

Larxene: Lightning element
Vexen: Ice element
