people have no idea how it's easy turn sigma engine VCT-TI engine in a similar beast like V-tec honda, ask Catheram for further detail, mine with tuned cams, 4 inline kawasaki thrhottle body full exhaust, chip tuned easily hit 150 hp on dyno bench... amazing that fuel consumption legal speed and keep calm, are still good.... plus gearbox and chassis of this car even if it's a lightweight station wagon mine, hold very well speed... this car looks like have some difficult to handle over 5000 rpm in every gear like if the phase shifter doesn't open up. Stock mine reach almost same speed with much less time and ten times more angry over 5000, with a true kick in feelin...
@@arminmc1809 just a remap did +25hp this engine has strangely a good gain compared to other atmo which only gain between 7 and 10 hp I did this at a proffesional in france if you want you can go to their site which is bnperf and they show you how many hp you pull with a stage 1 on almost all models and brands so you can compare
@@arminmc1809 because it's an EURO 4 heavily restricted as family engine, when it born with some features they free into Fiesta ST, same engine about everything around 140 hp from stock
I've driven a 2006 Focus C-MAX with this same engine for 7 years. Good engine for short rides on city but when I needed to overtake on highway, i must always go on 4th or also 3rd up to 6,5k rpm. No mechanical problems, but some electronics (the ECU blew up after a stormy day).
it's clear you have to check if VCT-TI is working properly... even if C-Max weight much more, only going fully loaded up to a big slope i need to shift down to 4th gear...

This car feels very well at higher speeds. The steering is precise and the chassis and suspension is stiff enough with a great feedback. In my opinion it is safe and controlable at all time. But the engine is so boring and didn't satisfied me because of its weekness.
@@fatherandsontrainingyou5232 1.6 is more reliable but if you drive long distances then 1.8 diesel is better. If I could go back in time i would have rather bought a vw with 1.9 tdi engine. If I had to buy a ford focus i would go with the 2.5 ST but they're a little bit more expensive. Ford focus is a good car if its in a good condition. Check for noise that might be coming from the engine or transmission bearing, check the brakes, be sure that the clutch isn't slipping (common problem), check the turbo for the diesel one because turbo failure is common aswell with the 1.8 diesel. Another thing is that my focus needs sooooo much oil. every month one liter and its not fuel efficient at all. My father has a Hyundai SUV and my brother a Mercedes S-Class and both are more fuel efficient, which is hard to believe. Otherwise the Focus ST170 is cheap and good aswell. But always check the condition of the car because most people don't sell their cars in perfect condition.

Do you have an exhaust leak? If it's near the o2/lambda sensors it might cost you engine performance. Regards

bad...130 at almost 4000 rpm in 5th gear...focus mk1 1.6 16v has at 3800 revs 150 km/h,so is much better at highway speed

I look to buy one 1.6 or 1.8 diesel.. They are cheaper than golf, toyota, or honda, a lot cheaper so it is in my budget sight.. What do you recomend?
