      One of the most important things you can learn from this education is all the different kinds of professionals AND their limitations. They are definitely not all the same in terms of knowledge about menopause or ability to help you achieve your goals.
      I always tell women who have consultations with me that the document I send them puts them in a position of knowing 90% more than most doctors.

    I had never heard of an Integrative Medicine Physician. Wow! Zero training in nutrition in medical school?! This sounds wonderful. I would love to see a physician like her. Unfortunately, I checked with my insurance and they don't cover this kind of medicine. I wanted to see an Osteopath, who is at the health center I use for all of my medical needs. They said they would only cover a chiropractor. I'm really disappointed.

    Hi Barbie, love your videos, I have learnt so much.
    I have a question, are you suggesting that you keep taking hormone replacement (in what ever form) until your symptoms of menopause stop? My experience in the UK is that once you haven't had a period for 12 months you are considered menopausal so no longer need to take hormone replacement. Many thanks

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have it all wrong. Think of it like this:
      Before you ever begin transitioning into menopause (pre-menopause), you have estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone functioning normally.
      During peri-menopause (which is the transition into post-menopause), all these hormones start decreasing. That causes all symptoms of "menopause" to begin. That can last from 2 - 10 years.
      Then, once you've gone for 12 consecutive months with no period, you reach post-menopause, which is when you're run out of hormones. You're finished with the transition, but you still have symptoms of menopause, and you will never produce them again.
      BUT, your body NEEDS estrogen to function normally. The most critical time for needing estrogen is in the first 5 - 10 years of post-menopause. Without it, your body is in a state of estrogen deficiency.
      There are different views and practices for how long to take hormone replacement, some based on need and some based on personal preference or comfort zone. Some women take it only for the first 5 - 10 years of post-menopause. Others take it for the rest of their lives.
      Your "understanding" is completely off. Why would you need to take hormone replacement when your body is producing hormones?. And why would you stop taking them when your body is no longer capable of producing them?
      The word "replacement"is just that: replacement of what your body cannot produce itself.
      So, hormone replacement is what post-menopausal women take to accommodate for the fact that their own bodies cannot produce hormones.

    Hi Dr. T,
    I take a juvenile pleasure in being the first to give you a thumbs up on some of your videos.
    Speaking of 'doing everything', I've had my Femring now for approx. 6 weeks. Tomorrow, I see the ob/gyn to have my Mirena replaced. I might have some labs drawn, too. I've seen reviews from Femring users. Most say that they perceive the decline in 2 months, and 1 ob/gyn reported that she prescribes it to be replaced every 2 months. She is herself a user and has also found that she can't go 3 months on it. I'm wondering - is there a way to supplement? Might I get a shot while still wearing the ring into month 3? I don't know what complications my insurance might throw my way. If I can't have a new Femring every 2 months and have to go 3, would it be overkill to get a shot to cover me for month 3, keeping in mind that I'll have a new Mirena ? Or might I supplement with something like the Evamist? What do you think?
    Some of these things are difficult to phrase. I always value your responses. If I hear from you before I head off to see my dr., I'll be better positioned to make my inquiries.
    Thank you.

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the asme situation! My Femring runs out after two months. My so;utio is just to change it every two months instead of every three months. Yes, it's a little more expensive, but I sure appreciate the steady feel of hormones in those two months.
      I think it's better to change sooner than to supplement with something that may make it more difficult for you to know how much estrogen your'e getting.
      I think your phrasing is perfect. I love your comments. Keep them coming!

      Yay! Thanks for letting me know. I actually see my dr. tomorrow; I'm glad we 'talked'. At 5.5 weeks, I'm already sensing the decline. I especially feel the difference in my sleep. :(

      I realized there is another option that many employers offer...flexible spending accounts...where pre-tax money can be used for such treatments with a doctor's note. For example massage for back problems, etc... just a thought.

    I would like to have a consultation with you please how do I go about this please and thanks 😊

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Here's how a consultation works:
      1) You would schedule a one-on-one consultation at my website, MenopauseTaylor.ME, choosing a time that is convenient for you. I do consultations on Skype, FaceTime. Facebook Messenger, What’s App, and the phone. (But very shortly, I’ll have my own video platform embedded in my website.)
      2) I would send you an email to confirm that you are scheduled for the stated time, and invite you to send me as much information about yourself as you please. You can make it brimming with details and tell me about your reproductive life, any gynecologic problems you've had, your symptoms of peri-menopause, and your symptoms of post-menopause. You can include all your fears, concerns, and goals for your menopause management. You may also send me any labs, mammogram results, bone density results, etc. that you would like me to include in designing your protocol. If you want to adhere to a certain category of management options (herbs or diet & lifestyle, or whatever), you should tell me that. I will give you a 5-day deadline for sending all materials, and will not accept anything after that date.
      3) I'll get busy creating a document that gives you all the education you need to understand absolutely everything, points out the pros and cons of each option, and tailors it all to YOU, using the information you have provided. The document will be loooooong. Most are over 30 pages.
      4) I will send you the document by email 72 hours before your consultation. You will benefit greatly by reading it in advance. Light bulbs will go off like crazy, and if you're like most women, you'll feel that you've already gotten your money's worth.
      5) During your consultation, we will review the document and address any issues you want in order to fine tune everything and determine your best options. I'll tell you exactly how to find the right kind of professional, how to have the conversation in order to get what you want, and the nuances of things like guidelines and insurance. I leave nothing unaddressed.
      6) You will go to a professional of your choosing in order to get the actual hormones or whatever you choose to use.
      7) After the first consultation, I'll hold your hand (forever if you want me to). In other words, you'll be able to schedule mini-consultations (30-minute, in addition to full consultations) whenever you need to. I'll keep records of your situation. Most women schedule mini-consultation whenever they go to the doctor and don't understand what he or she said, or why. I translate. I make sense of everything. Most schedule mini-consultation whenever they have a new test and they want me to explain the results. And all schedule mini-consultation whenever their situation changes and they need to re-weigh and re-balance their options.
      The time you spend with me will make everything about working with any other professional so easy. And they will love the fact that you have an actual education rather than a bunch of misconceptions that you got from the Internet. If your initial hormone regimen is not right, you'll want to consult with me before going to your doctor. I can prepare you for what to expect and what to request.
      So, that's my role. And nobody else on earth does this kind of thing but me. So, I hope you schedule a consultation and let me hold your hand (figuratively).
      I hope to meet you soon!

    "You work together with everybody!" If woman has prolapse there are SO many alternatives to surgery "Slice & Dice Barbie" ( Who has NEVER given birth, meh !!!) KEGELS are sooo good if you do them correctly & they can strengthen so much, not just the Pelvic floor! Self esteem for women, & a sense of empowerment for women as a whole! I 'm not saying that in some cases surgery is not necessary but for heavens sake KEGELS should be taught PROPERLY to ALL WOMEN!!! Note the body language of both women in this interview.... MB is all gesticulating & all over the place whereas the Integrative MD is soft & relaxing in her Body Language.... MB makes the statement all the time ( Even her Book the title says "YOUR WAY" ) MB IF you read this how about instead of interviewing Menopause focused Practitioner's other than those in your "Traditional Model" you give them the opportunity to do a presentation or answer your subscribers or viewers questions? maybe put out a "Questions you have about menopause for my upcoming "Women's specialist?" for example I have ( I could be wrong? ) never seen & are just as applicable to women who have given birth but to an entire Demographic that has been "left behind" PLEASE check out "Kegel Queen"
    It's not just MD's who are "Qualified" to give sound & empowering advice to women at any stage of life but so many other "Women's Health Practitioner's" who often have far more experience in the "real life" of women trying to cope with their changing bodies at any stage of our journey. I raise my Hat ( & MB you have MANY you can raise to these unsung Heroes to Women's Health! ) OPEN your mind to beyond the "Traditional Medical Model Sister's!!! MB is doing what she know's best but there is sooo much more that need's to be contributed to this VITAL education & empowerment of Women!!! MB you have opened the door, you have the opportunity to bring so much more perspectives to Women's Health than just Menopause because it's starts DECADES BEFORE for overall women's Health, empowerment & education.

    I just HATE the word "non compliant" it is such an asinine word! SO traditional medical word! Bleh ! I like the way the integrative Dr replied "It's about readiness" the MB jumps in "Oh absolutely!" Changing one's approach to life is an ongoing process at Menopause because what use to work prior to menopause doesn't "comply" ( wink wink ) anymore & that's where taking the time & the feeling of building that relationship with your Integrative Medical Practitioner specifically with Menopause in this case comes in. Unfortunately I find MB tends to "take over" or phrase questions in such a way that make it somewhat skewed in the Traditional model rather than allowing the person she is interviewing the time to explain adequately & thoroughly what the "Integrative Medicine Model" is & how if differs from "Traditional" ( one assumes "Big Pharma Gazillion $ industry "HUGE EYEROLL" ) with solid answers that are not defined by MB who has NO KNOWLEDGE of what Integrative Medicine actually is!!! So MB should LISTEN & LEARN !!! To me it's about utilising the Bodies amazing response to holistic care & for Women to be listened to, respected & understood not undermined by the "Practitioner" THEY CHOOSE. Don't get me wrong I think many of MB videos are very helpful but it is clear she stands firmly with BIG PHARMA. MB is NOT impartial.
