I'm honestly REALLY surprised that the SNES Choco Island 2 remake on Mario Kart DS didn't get on this list at all.
A large part of the course is covered in mud and makes your traction HORRENDOUS. Combine that with the hideous visuals, boring track layout, and painfully average music and you have one of the few tracks in the whole series that I always, ALWAYS try to avoid.
Don't forget those annoying bumps that throw you all over the place.
Actually, the snes version was harder for me to complete. Mix that stage with super Mario kart's slippery controls and you'll see why the DS version is "better" in my opinion.
As someone who completely completed Mario Kart DS (all mission and cups 3-starred), I can safely say that that is unequivocally the worst track in the game, and probably the worst track in the series.
I wasn’t a fan of the retro Grand Prix in MK Ds because a lot of the tracks were really boring. Most tracks created for MK ds are awesome though.

It sucks so much that it didn’t get remade a single time outside of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate where the Mario Circuit stage from Brawl has it’s name changed to Figure 8 Circuit

ALG32705 I didn't have issues with it once I practiced a bit. I guess one thing that can be said about it is that you do have to be a lot more aggressive with drifting to make it through corners with speed, especially with the much smaller SNES courses.

@@professortortoise86 No, they don't. It's just that N.B's list was unbalanced, just because most of his choices come from MKSC and MKDS, that dosen't mean they're bad games.
N64 Rainbow Road.
It's really long, only obstacle are the rare chomp, and GUARD RAILS. What kind of self-respecting Rainbow Road has guard rails? The Rainbow Roads are always easy to fall off of, and filled with lots of tricky parts. This one has none of that, it's just a snooze-fest.
+The Flame Runner I feel you. It pisses me off when all the people pick n64 rainbow road on mk8 because imo it's even worse then the n64 version
But the music is great, the track looks astounding, and, it's just cool. The turns are challenging to make, too.

I'm surprised N64 Rainbow Road wasn't on the list... without the unintended shortcut and nostalgia (mostly the soundtrack) that track is extremely boring.

To me it’s just really meant to be a marathon track and a grand finale. Truly feels like you’re in a different world playing that track
Legend has it, Miyamoto can tell all the Bowser Castle Tracks apart from each other by their respective numbers.
They remade Baby Park twice. The bums. I'm still waiting for a remake of Wario Coliseum from DD.
Next game, I guess.
Also, that's a damn good one, and I am generally not a fan of DD.

My favourite is maybe Tick Tock Clock or Bowser's Castle

Figure 8 Circuit is my least favorite track in Mario Kart history too, but for other reasons. When playing online, snakers would religiously select that track, almost exclusively. I did snake too, but I HATED how the track would show up CONSTANTLY on the random selection roulette, several times at once, then got selected, and they voted for it AGAIN on the next round.
One of my least favorite tracks is N64 Rainbow Road. Too long, too easy & too boring. It's better in Mario Kart 8, but they made it too short by being only one lap now.
I think it wasn't TOO bad in N64; if they made it one lap shorter it would have been nice, but the length of the course heightened tension during Grand Prix.
MK8 disfigured the course so much that it's barely recognizable.
In my opinion, they should have made Mario Kart 8's N64 RR have more of the stain glass feel of the original. They should have also made it 2 laps long to make it not too short, and not too long.
rnorred1986 Being 1 lap has nothing to do with it. That doesn't make it shorter, that just means you don't loop. Which is a good thing because you don't have to repeat the entire course three times like most courses

He needs to redo this list because:
1) Most of the choices come from Super Circuit and DS (6 GBA and 5 DS) while the other ones had 2 or only 1, the list should be more balance.
2) Tracks like GCN Mario Circuit shouldn't be here.
3) Lack of actual bad tracks like Mario Circuit 1 from SNES and Rainbow Road from N64.
4) The troll part DOSEN'T make Bowser's Castle 2 from SNES a full on terrible track! Or it should had put higher.
5) Exaggrerated narration.
6) Unnecesaray filler.
7) The humor looks super forced.

I agree that figure-8 circuit is the worst track. I almost never pick that track when playing Mario Kart DS.
I think they did 5 laps on the DS version of Baby Park because maybe they thought 7 laps would be too much for the DS to handle.

+CyanCopperYoshi Why do so many people hate Super Circuit? It was one of my favorites to date. Granted, it was my first Mario Kart, so I'm biased towards it, but what's the hate for?
I get your point about the controls, but crappy tracks? Ribbon Road, Cheese Land, Sky Garden, Riverside Park, Lakeside Park, one of the most difficult Rainbow Roads to date, the ghost courses that, regardless of what Nathaniel says, were actually really good, and Sunset Wilds. It's not my fault that all Nintendo thinks Super Circuit is good for are circuit courses (which aren't half bad) and Bowser Castles (some of which aren't half bad).
And I agree that it does have a couple crappy tracks (Snow Land and Cheep Cheep Island suck). But personally I love Super Circuit as a whole, and even if I take my bias towards it out, it's at least better than Super Mario Kart.

I feel like I love Cheep Cheep Island so much only because it was the first Mario Kart track I'd ever played, and Super Circuit was the first video game I ever played, so it's technically the first thing I ever played that was video game-related.

i'm sorry but i hate Rainbow Road from Mario Kart 64 !.. i mean its ok, but is so long and emptiness. When i'm on the second lap, i already just want to the finish the race, man, a few ramps could help that.. really needs a good remake instead the fucking SNES version

Did you ever notice on double dash, you use triple mushroom and your far up then 3 seconds later, somebody passed you?
Double Dash nothin...that is a staple feature of Mario Kart. Just today I was in an online race. I was actually leading the pack, then one (green) shell hits me and I had to scrape my way back up to 9th before the finish line.
The figure 8 not having any boosters or obsticals makes it one of the best. It is like final destination in smash bros. it's the fairest course and doesn't deserve such a low number

I think SNES Boswer castle 3 is the worst. Those F*cking thowmps blocking the entire road (yet the Cpu's pass through them)
It's fair in the sense that 2 bowsers on the stage can do well. With no special things, only 2 sets of items, and almost no possible offroad and nothing to possibly block you, heavyweights are almost unstoppable on the track. It's unbalanced in a completely different way.
Plus, it's just bad. I'm not sure if you noticed, but there is literally nothing good about the stage. No special turns, no traps or obstacles, no wacky item shenanigans, no secrets, no shortcuts, no movement in the track itself. It is singlehandedly the most tasteless track in the entirety of Mario Kart, being more boring and tedious than every other track combined, and it has to rank up there as one of the most boring tracks in the racing game genre.
Never stop striving for originality!
To be honest, I wouldn't mind seeing Broken Pier, Vanilla Lake I or Figure-8 Circuit remade for a future Mario Kart game, I'm sure they'll be remade to have a ton of detail and to be way better and whatnot

Pretty much every Mario Kart Double Dash course was great fun for my friends and I. Some people hate that game, but I thought it was awesome!

I was half expecting choco mountain DS to be on here, but the reason I was only half expecting it was because it’s actually a pretty cool and unique map
We recently moved and I was digging through box’s and crap and found a barely touched Game Boy Advanced with Mario kart super circuit in it so I played some tracks and I 100% agree on your opinions on all of the super circuit tracks you put on this list!

Overall, I really enjoyed the list. I had to disagree with some choices (I love Cheep Cheep Beach, and I've never visibly noticed the shaking), but it is pretty difficult to choose tracks when most (not all) of them are still fun. Even that choice was understandable, though, as well as others. Thanks for the videos!
I actually like 8 Circuit because I spam the boost button on open road so I’m getting insanely boost, The tank is so OP if you using the boost on every corner and open road, I managed to get 3 Stars on every track from 50,100,150 and 150 mirror mode 😉

SNES Bowser Castle 2: A deplorable course from a design perspective; probably the worst in the series, actually. Sad thing about this is that MK8 would've been the ideal game to bring it back with the Anti - Gravity feature. Life goes on.
GCN Mario Circuit: Aw, it's not that bad. I find it rather pleasant.
DS Baby Park: Pathetic.
DS Yoshi Falls: Intriguing concept, underwhelming execution. I can't help but ponder how cooler Yoshi Falls would've been if it was designed for the Star or Special cup instead. Yoshi Falls sounds like it should be a lot funner than it actually is.
GBA Broken Pier: Funny how having a funky, cool rock still can't bolster the quality of this course from fading into relative mediocrity.
GBA Bowser Castle 3: Bowser Castle 4 makes all the other Bowser Castles from Super Circuit look like chumps anyway. I'll throw this course a bone for having a blue color scheme that deviated from the norm, though.
GBA Cheep Cheep Island: Agree to disagree, I suppose. I think Cheep Cheep Island was a beautiful course, if not somewhat modest to boot. I'd love to see this one return very soon.
GBA Snow Land: Heh, agree to disagree once more! I happen to be a fan of Snow Land. Tipsy penguins, the fantastical strip of coins, that weird alternate path laden with so many speed boosts... but snow tracks have always been an acquired taste, admittedly.
SNES Vanilla Lake 1: A slog to race through. It also looks so damn hideous. Yikes.
DS Figure-8 Circuit: An understandable choice for the worst course ever, although it's absolutely not the course I'd choose. For me, Figure-8 Circuit catches a colossal break because of MK DS's snaking. Snaking makes quite a few courses in that game a passable effort when they would've been a chore otherwise. Figure-8 is lucky enough to slide into that dubious category.
My only problem with figure 8 circuit is that it's not a retro track in Mario Kart 8. Get the Irony?
Saying that Figure 8 Circuit is fun because of snaking is like saying you like raisins when you cover them in chocolate. Sure it's alright, but forcing it to be good doesn't make it good.

I'm still questioning why Figure 8 circuit wasn't in Mario Kart 8.
They could have fixed the track BIG TIME. But I guess since Mario Circuit is already in an 8 shape, they didn't add it.

You know it's not to late to add another track as dlc to the game after all if you count all 16 retro tracks plus the additional 7 you get an odd number of retro tracks in the game 23 but with just 1 more it will be an even 24 so maybe they could give us Figure 8 circuit as a free dlc track and stick it in the shell or lightning cup considering Figure 8 is indeed a quick track to race on it would'nt hurt to stick a 5th in some cup.

Joey Olberding I don't think it really matters to them on consistency/traditions cause they already broke alot of traditions in the series when making the game like mixed Nitro and Retro tracks in the same cup, crossover characters making appearances, Balloon Battle was not the traditional style this time around because they went with tracks instead of arenas, so adding extra tracks into one of the retro cups is always a possibility!
So the worst stage would be a shaky half Ice half desert race, with boos and thwomp. It has for sure an 8 or oval shape, without any boost pannel and you can fall off the road everywhere !
I'm gonna have to say, even though I have multiple least favorite tracks in the Mario Kart series, I am gonna bring up at least one that I don't like that is more recent, and it is the exclusive Nitro Rainbow Road track from Mario Kart 8/ Deluxe. It is just so surprisingly underwhelming. Not only is the track mostly easy (outside of the very sharp turn in the beginning that people can push you off if you are not careful enough) but the shortcut you can take makes the track even shorter and more bland. The visual rainbow aesthetic seems to be lacking in it too because it just doesn't feel as breath taking and beautiful to me. Take Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart Wii for example. Both Rainbow Road tracks had an amazing rainbow aesthetic not to mention were more challenging and fun to race on, especially the Wii's version. That game possibly has one of the best Rainbow Roads in the entire series. I am shocked that Mario Kart 8/ Deluxe didn't even come close to how amazing the Wii's version was considering the game as a whole is more visually stunning than Mario Kart Wii's.

I find mario circuit gcn on wii pretty fun and fast paced. When i am driving, avoiding piranha plants gives me another task.
Strange how you can have the figure 8 track as number one and say it's because it's just a boring figure 8 track, but luigis circuit in 64 is just that too and it wasn't in your top 20.
My reactions to your list:
10. Meh, I don't really see the problem with it besides the dead end road, which was fixed in a MKWii custom track.
9. If there's a track I really disagree with here, it's this one. I honestly enjoyed this stage on both versions it was on, because it was simple enough to be easy to learn, but complex enough to be a blast to play. I actually have it on my top list in both Double Dash and Wii.
8. From strongly disagreeing to strongly agreeing, I guess? You hit everything on the head here.
7. Agree with this one, too. Generally a boring stage with annoying gameplay and only a couple cool moments.
6. Like with Bowser Castle 2, if the Boos weren't there, I would find this track to be a lot better.

10. Wii U Rainbow Road: Huge disappointment. It could have been a sight to behold like MK7's, but it just fell flat on its face. Way too short, and not the hardest track by a long shot. It does look fantastic, though, I'll give it that.
9. 3DS Rosalina's Ice World: A slippery mess that takes a great track design and ruins it. Doesn't look too good, either, and doesn't use MK7's new mechanics much.
8. DS Yoshi Falls: Looks great, but boring, boring, boring. The Wii remake doesn't help matters, either.
7. Wii Luigi Circuit: "Ugh, I have to play this again?" -me in every clan war I played
6. GBA Shy Guy Beach: Kind of interesting, but slow and filled with hazards to make it even slower. The Wii remake didn't help its case, either.
5. DS Figure-8 Circuit: Wholly uninspired and boring. It looks good, but otherwise has nothing going for it.
4. DS Baby Park: This one is even worse because it ruined a fan favorite track, but at least it's still a bit fun, I guess?
3. N64 Toad's Turnpike: The choice that most people will disagree with, but hear me out. The only benefit is that it brought the traffic mechanic, which led to better tracks, especially in Double Dash. However, it's really slow and annoying to play on, really badly designed, and doesn't look pretty to make up for it. Luckily the Wii U remake fixed most of its problems.
2. SNES Vanilla Lake 1: Boring track design, only made interesting with how aggravating it is. Looks bland, too.
1. N64 Sherbet Land: It's slippery, crowded, boring, and very uninspired. Even worse, the Wii remake doesn't help in any of these aspects. The N64 gave us some great tracks, but how did they manage to make one on par with Vanilla Lake 1 ON BETTER HARDWARE?

normally I'd say that the shaking in snow land could be a result of a glacier forming or an avalanche, reason i'm not really certain of this, is because there's nothing happening in the background that could sensibly implie that one of those thing is happening.
