TheManiacZach eg: Grumble Volcano and Mushroom gorge. The major glitches NEEDED to be fixed, imo they ruined online races. Also Wuhu Island Loop (Wuhu Loop) and Wuhu Mountain Loop (Maka Wuhu) had major glitches which ruined online. Sometimes they have to fix things

Funny, I see a fun antigravity section, the rain actually makes the road slippery, and it has recieved one of the biggest graphical overhauls of any course in that game before Tick-Tock Clock and the two Rainbow Roads

The major gripes your two have are that the tracks "aren't different enough". They are retro tracks, they aren't supposed to be too different. I'm personally disappointed in how different Wario Stadium DS is and Neo Bowser City is one of my personal favorites in both 7 and 8. I know that these are your opinions and I respect that, but I feel like judging a track based on it being to similar to the original is unfair.

I can definitely agree with DS's Baby Park and 8's Toad's Turnpike, but...Neo Bowser City is something I disagree with. Yes, it does rain on you, but HAVE YOU NOTICED THAT THE BACKGROUND GOT A HUGE REHAUL?! The background and the detailing is amazing! And yet it's #2? :/

I know GCN DK Mountain was never exactly one of my favorite courses, but I was seriously considering it for my 10 BEST Mario Kart Wii tracks...
This list is bullshit. The SNES tracks weren't supposed to change. Sure, they're bland, but that doesn't make them bad. I expected to see more tracks like Baby Park in the top ten because they were completely unnecessary to the games that they were remade in.

Nathaniel Bandy I liked all your choices, with the exception of Toad's Turnpike. maybe if this was a list of the least improved tracks, it having flaws compared to the original would have scored it higher. But, in my opinion, on a WORST OF ALL TIME list, Toad's Turnpike is a much better stage than Mario circuits 1-Infinity.

I know you have your opinions and everything, and I enjoyed the video. But I don't understand how Neo Bowser City, which definitely didn't change a lot but still added some things and looks phenomenal, is over the snorefest that is N64 Luigi Raceway and GCN Peach Beach,.
number 0: mushroom bridge remake in mario kart ds: not only they didn't add anything, but they actually removed all the elements from the original double dash track: the pipe path at the beginning, the left sidewalk and the possibility to go across the borders of the bridge with the boost panels

Yes but when you seenMario Kart 8...HECK even Mario Kart 7, the stages don’t feel that bland. My main problem with Wii’s retro courses is that they all just felt straight up ports of the originals with updated textures and nothing else and by that point just play the original tracks
I disagree with #2. Music Park wasn't changed at all and it's still an awesome track in MK8. Same thing with Neo Bowser City. Neo Bowser City and Music Park are my favorite MK7 tracks.

4) Some lack of knowladge

I disagree with Moo Moo Meadows being on #9. You now can glide a big part of the track. You also can go right at the gliding section to see the cool farm. It would've been better if you could completely go this way through the farm as an alternative way. In my opinion is Moo Moo Meadows more interesting than the Farm
I totally agree except for #2. Nothing changed, yes, but Yoshi Circuit made worse by deleting the shortcut, and not adding an underwater or an anti gravity feature in this shortcut.
Saturda actually there were changes. One was the bad guys like dry bones now cheer you on. I think number 2 should have been Mario kart Wii’s Waluigi Stadium. I like it but Nathaniel said he hated it.
Dan M neo bowser city is not a complete replica. There are bad guys scattered all around the course now. It used to just have buildings.
Nathaniel, I really disagree with Moo moo meadows. Its a fun starter race in Mario kart 8 and I loved they didn't change majority of the track. People wont agree with me but, it is a very fun battle stage in Mk8 and one of the best tracks in that game.

I'd just like to point out some other changes that you didn't mention in this video, as well as a few personal opinions. I'll be typing as I watch the video.
Mario Circuit 2 also added a yellow jump bar after the gliding ramp (located to the left of the barrier blocks) that can be used to cut the final corner.
Another difference between Moo Moo Meadows' original and the remake is that the Monty Moles' trails and holes are no longer offroad, but are in fact ramps. Also, Moo Moo Farm was already a Retro Track for Mario Kart DS, and I'd rather not have any non-DLC repeats until after all tracks from a given game have been used as a Retro Track.
Other differences for DK Mountain are the added halfpipes, and the grassy area by the huge honkin chasm is wider and not as steep, making said chasm less intimidating.
Peach Circuit: To be fair, like Nico said, MKDS was the first game to incorporate retro tracks into a 3D environment, so Nintendo likely weren't sure what to do here. Not to mention that Peach Circuit is the very first track in Mario Kart: Super Circuit, so of course it's going to be very simple. I know that GBA Mario Circuit had many elements added to it, but that was three whole games and 8.5 years later, so Nintendo had time, resources, and experience necessary to innovate. Plus, GBA Mario Circuit was in the 20-11 list, so even that didn't make much difference, it seems.
The Wii version of Yoshi Falls also has a jump on the third bridge. But I do agree, this track didn't bring much to the table, even in the DS version (which I have the hardest time on, anyway).
To be fair, MC3 didn't have you jump over part of the track. Also, I'm calling it now: Any SNES Mario Circuit that hasn't been mentioned yet will be on this list.

My only gripe with N64 Toad's Turnpike is the fact that it's a battle course. WHO THOUGHT THAT WAS A GOOD IDEA?
The anti-grav section in 3DS Neo Bowser City also seems entirely unnecessary.
I actually totally forgot about GCN Baby Park on the DS. Yeah, that's bad. I also hate that the roller coaster got taken out. Granted, it's probably due to the limited capabilities of the DS, but the park just looks even more barren without it.
Thank you for pointing out these other changes. I don't always mention all of them just for time sake and I feel that people would get bored of me listing off every single difference.

Hold up. There is dry bones, paratroopas, and the bros cheering you on in neo bowser city. Also there is a video of bowser on the screen. In the original it just showed the player moving.

0:49 the fact that you picked this Mario Circuit remake out of MC1 or MC3 is pretty odd to me, since this one added a cool glider ramp AND you can find a bouncy yellow thing that gives you a boost while gliding.
How the hell does a ramp make you hate a course? I find it pathetic how you feel it’s necessary to talk trash about the amazing courses all the games have to offer. Especially MKWii. Maybe you’re just so bad at it that you decide to talk trash about it?

Mario Kart Wii is a quite a divided game between the fan base in general and for good reason. I personally love the game but hated how OP the bikes and certain characters (cough Funkey Kong) were. Seriously it really should have been called Mario Bike Wii because the Karts are practically pointless to use both in Grand Prix's and online back in the day due to how much better the bikes are.
Not only that there isn't enough stable tracks for Karts either. Tracks like Rainbow Road, Maple Treeway, DK Snowboard Cross/Summit, Moonview Highway and retro ones like N64 Bowser Castle, DK Mountain, Waluigi Stadium, N64 DK Jungle Parkway are too narrow and make it hard to drift with Karts. Then there is the fact they completely nerfed drifting for the Karts but made it completely OP for the bikes almost to Mario Kart DS level of ridiculously OP.
It can get really annoying because you very quickly realise you ain't gonna win nothing in 150cc and Mirror Mode Grand Prix Cups and you ain't gonna unlock all the Expert Staff Ghost to get your Mii Outfit B due to how slow nerfed the karts are. Then when you played online back in the day, you stood no chance because the other 11 races always used bikes and bloody Funkey Kong. The game forces you to use bikes more because they are far superior in almost everyway which is sad and completely contradicts the title of Mario 'Kart'

I am a MKWII Fanboy, but what did they take away? Hmmmm. Bumpy bridge on maple treeway, lazer spinners on koopa cape. What did they add? Sorry man, but I never had fun with the original Toad's Turnpike. A lot of the time, two trucks would run alongside each other, forcing you to hit the brakes and putting you even farther behind whoever was in first. Plus, having the item boxes shoved into those roadside indents made it impossible to get items without slowing down or crashing outright.
I find that the vehicle sizes in Toad's Turnpike on Mario Kart 8 are perfect in high intensity moments when playing with others (both locally and online) as when you have a lot of players close up and jostling for a position, there's not much room and it's still really difficult to avoid being hit. Just my two cents. XD

In Neo Bowser City, there is an antigravity section at the end. They improved the visuals and added the antigravity section. Also, in Toad’s Turnpike, they went overboard with the difficulty in N64, but they fixed that in the remake

I like the remake of Neo Bowser City. The fact that it's on this list and that it's number 2 triggers me. If I was making this list, I would put N64 Frappe Snowland there because of the ICE PHYSICS

Sean Vasquez they took a course that was unique and effectively turned it into a desert track. It far too beige and really doesn't show the cheese theme.

0:41 it says the original was from MKDS, but Nathaniel says from Super Mario Kart, and the screen shows footage from SMK, but I do distinctly remember this track being in MKDS. There are a lot of Mario Circuits across all the games, so I'm probably thinking of another one, but I'm just pointing out that information error. 😊😊

The main reason I loved Moonview Highway on the Wii (and still do) is because of the many cars, trucks and bomb cars in the way. It was so much fun for me and I really hope they bring it as a retro track someday and DO NOT allow players just to skip over the entire track. I honestly don't see why they did it with Toad's turnpike if the cars and trucks are really as easy to dodge as you say.
I feel like most DS courses on here were made cause they look too similar to their original.
That's supposed to be because they didn't mean to improve on the tracks (maybe a little bit to add for DS stuff and all that) but the main point for the DS retro tracks were supposed to be there because it was originally supposed to give you a look at stages you played in past mario kart stages.
They made them so you can awe at the fact that they remade favorites on older courses.
They only start improving on 7 (kinda) and mainly 8
the only change I noticed with neo bowser city is that the fan at the end of the lap is pushed forward a bit
Great list. I personally enjoyed these tracks mainly because of the improved kart physics, but I do like it more when a retro track has some creative liberties taken with it.
I agree with you on the baby park remake. That track looked like it was deserted because there was no activity going on in the background.
I'm glad to finally find someone who has the same thoughts on retro track of Toad's Turnpike. Like you said, it's too easy.
It's funny that Nathaniel Bandy was so excited to see Neo BowserCity Included in DLC but then puts it at #2 on the worst retro tracks ever

Alright, I'm going to offer my unpopular opinion: Neo Bowser City is one of my favorite tracks, and I love it's reproduction in Mario Kart 8. And I'm going to justify how little they changed about it: The purpose of bringing it back wasn't to adjust it to the new features of Mario Kart 8, it was to showcase an update that was released at the same time as that DLC pack, being 200cc mode. Nintendo wanted to stress how difficult 200cc is if your not in the habit of breaking by bringing back a track with low friction throughout most of the stage and with winding narrow turns, and since the old ice tracks were not gonna fit the bill, Neo Bowser City was perfect for that. It takes on a whole new level of complication when you try to play on 200cc, as the developers were hoping you would try 200cc and the new tracks at the same time. 200cc + Neo Bowser City = a whole new level of difficulty. And sure, like others I thought it could benefit from an anti-gravity section, but I think the track is fine as is.
Neo bowser city is such a good track that they didn't need to add anything
Gonna be honest, when GBA Peach Circuit popped up, I thought it was the original GBA version the first second until I noticed the 3D models. It's still very cool to see an accurate remake of the original though, just with updated textures.
Also, Neo Bowser City is honestly my favorite MK7 track, and I'm glad it was brought back in MK8. I agree they could've updated it more, though.
Ok, I get your points on Toad's Turnpike. I do agree that it's lame to have the cars be less of problem. But it is definitely much better than some of SNES retro tracks on the list
Just noticed on the Marino circuit 2 you said it was originally from DS , not SNES
Ramps are there in DK Mountain because the game introduced proper shortcuts and it was the FIRST game you were able to trick
I know this is technically a collaboration, but dear god...........a top 10 list *(or in this case a top 20)* that has Nicobbq in it that I actually *(for the most part)* agree with? Man, it's been awhile since that have ever happened.
I think part of the reason that DS Baby park was so limited was because of the DS's limitations themselves, the DS couldn't handle completely rendered 3D graphics, which is what the GameCube had.
The issue with DK mountain is that if it was narrow people would complain, but since it's not people complain about it being too wide.
