I just love how all the "Forgettable" Courses are Insanely popular in Competitive play Online.
At least give Bowser Castle 1 credit for being the only retro GBA track in Mario Kart 7.
But that was the biggest problem with it.
Honestly, I don't mind it at all because it's a Bowser Castle, and I can get along with those.

tru cause snes and gba tracks are so unused
And then MK8 F**d it all up by using 4 N64 tracks and only 1 track from both GBA and Snes.
Then again the dlc adds 2 more GBA tracks bringing it up to three which is better than only having 1-2.

Angel Portugal cheep cheep beach was featured in Double Dash as well. And I believe Double Dash is older than MK DS.

SNES Rainbow Road was boring, yeah, but all SNES tracks were. MK7 and MK8 really improved on them, though.

Not gonna lie, I love GBA Mario circuit in mk8. Super circuit was awesome, and I love all the track remakes.

Good list. Except I don't really agree with Mario Raceway being on here. I personally think that to be a pretty fun course, and one of the best Mario Circuits in awhile.

Master Penguin Yeah another one is Mario Kart Stadium, the hardest are Wii U Rainbow Road and 3DS Neo Bowser City and GCN Yoshi Circuit.
GCN Dry Dry Desert should be higher. It is a super bland track that is not fun at all.

I'm glad you put GBA Mario Circuit on this list. That track is so plain and effortless, not to mention the forced anti-gravity.
In MKWii, N64 Mario Raceway is my favorite! I always want to play it in WIIMMFI!

I love the MK8 remake of Mario Circuit GBA. It’s one of my favourite courses in the game because of how it feels to play and all the shortcuts

3:52 And don't feel sorry about putting Rainbow Road on a worst list, because if I'm playing at a difficulty greater than 50CC, I find the lack of guardrails obnoxious, and then there's that ramp at the side of the track that obliterates the momentum to stop you from making the jump, or if you use a mushroom with it, makes you overshoot and fall off the other side. And then there's that random fork in the track that really doesn't need a ramp in the middle of it. Ugh!

I love your channel and Nicobbq's channel! (Mostly because I'm a big Mario fan and you guys make lots and lots of Mario video's)
My personal favorite is MKWii, but both you and Nicobbq had it low on your lists. MKWii is also my favorite game of all time.
This is due to the introduction of motorcycles, 12 players, better online multiplayer, great new tracks, my favorite one being the Rainbow Road (surprise!), and races are both skill based and luck based, so it's always exciting.
You might think that I'm just an oversensitive kid of this generation, but i played MKDD and MK64 before Wii but I didn't like them as much as MKWii.

They should had put MK8's version of SNES Rainbow Road because of it was just a lazy HD port of MK7's version.

Mibbi the oasis was added to "Dry Dry" to emphasise just how dry "BONE Dry" is.
Surprised some folks find the former boring. Lotsa shroomcuts so there's a good chance each lap will vary somewhat from the last. It's also quite challenging to perfect the wavy Pokey section (good place for banana strategy).
There is a crazy shortcut in Bowser Castle 1 witch as a retro track in Mario Kart 7, try the shortcut, it's really cool!

I realized that I naturally stay away from all of these tracks without thinking. great list
I'm not sure if I agree with Donut Plains 3 from MK8 on this list, I actually really enjoy it. There are actually some really cool things you can do in the water sections of the course that let you jump back up at different points. For instance, at the point where the ramp ends and you drop into the water, instead of just going straight back up, you can take a sharp left turn and avoid the S curve in the normal part of the track and come back up on the other side of it.

I'm not quite sure I agree with the placement of Donut Plains 3. I know it's overall a short and simple track, thanks to coming from a SNES game, but I actually love how Nintendo updated it for Mario Kart 8.
In previous Mario Kart games, the SNES tracks that were brought back for the retro cups always looked _way_ too bland, flat, and empty, which significantly clashed with the rest of the games' tracks.
However, in Mario Kart 8, a lot of effort was actually put into making it fit in with the rest of the tracks, by adding some actual elevation and variation to the terrain, adding a lot more props (the fort was a nice addition and nod to SMW), vastly improving the background, and even adding some neat game-play features.
I love that you can actually drive into the lake surrounding the bridges and take shortcuts that way. It really changes the feel of the track without actually replacing a section from the original game. And I'm strangely always in awe when I see the mud at the end due to the reflections.
It's still one of the simplest tracks in the game, but it's short, and surprisingly fun for what used to be a SNES track. I really wish there was at least one more SNES track in Mario Kart 8, just to see how much Nintendo would improve it visually and game-play-wise (they did so well with the other old tracks).

really nice to see Dry Dry Desert on the list, the removal of the fun elements from the original and the addition of the oasis ruined the track heavily imo, might as well ditch the prefix ‘dry dry’ if an oasis is going to be added

You know what should've been in mk8, bowser castle DS.
The course in DS looks great for when it was made, that end part with the moving platforms and the cage jump before it could've been anti gravity. The pole that turns could allow you to get tricks. There could also be a some glider ramps for shortcuts at the end of the track, and there could be item boxes hanging from balloons in the first part after bowser 'eats' you and there would be small ramps that you could trick off to get them. I would've chosen bcDS over either the 2 retro bowsers castles tbh. Maybe mk9 :(

When I played mario kart wii, when I was younger, I didn’t realise you could play without using tilt controls 😂 No wonder I always lost 🤦♀️
I like the Retro Courses from DS, Wii, and 7 rather than 8. They do look pretty generic an uninteresting, but at least they stay true to their original counterparts, even the music as well. But other than that, nice collaboration guys! I'll stay tuned for more later on!

The best part of SNES Donut Plains 3 is putting a banana or bobomb on the narrow part of the bridge. And toss a shell across the bridge.
I love the wii remake of snes ghost valley 2, one of the most fun tracks to time trial in the game
in mario kart 8, the 3rd place thing is pink gold, so when you ever go down in 3rd place, you gotta play as pink gold peach.
I remember one time i was playing the GBA Mario Circuit and i launched a banana peel right at the ramp at end of the anti-gravity section and the banana went flying to the finish line.
Ghost Valley 2 on the Wii was the track I played most in Mario Kart Wii (it is the Favorite Track in my profile information thing) and I still love it. It is one of my favorite Mario Kart tracks ever. I agree with Nico on that one.
GBA MC in MK8 is the definition of how to adapt a retro to different mechanics. I'm already triggered by the top 10 and this is even worse

Mario Circuit GBA is admittedly lacking in theme, but all of the drifts and turns are really engaging and fun, plus the music is one of the best glow-up jazz remixes in MK history.
