    I'm using this keyboard for like 10 years. This was a birthday gift i think. The best gift I ever had and still using for this day

    There's something about that Yamaha Grand Piano tone. It sounds nothing like the real thing, but I've heard it on numerous local jam sessions and live gigs. The PSR keyboards are super ubiquitous all over Asia! And that piano tone just cuts right through the mix.

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes I agree. There's too much preachiness about perfect reproduction of tones for guitar, piano, organ etc. If it sounds good just go with it!

    • @HubertEtAlice
      @HubertEtAlice 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yep, this grand piano tone has became a standard by itself. You can find it on every PSR E2xx, 3xx and 4xx since the E series exists and also on numerous other Yamaha’s. You have the much more realistic Live! Grand Piano on the DGX line (which also has the far more realistic Natural! Grand Piano since the DGX 650), as well on the PSR EW 400 and 410 and on the NP-V 60 and 80.

    When trying to use a sustain pedal are there certain pedals I should look into getting specifically for this keyboard or would most sustain pedals work fine?

    hello the E223 keyboard is the same as the E323? what differences do they have?

    Only thing that is hard is that it's not full sized and the keys aren't weighted... but it has some other great features.

    Did this come out the same time as the DJX? The screen and presets are very similar but it sounds crisper overall.

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree about the crisper sound. There are some familiar XG sounds that they both share but no they have separate sound sets.

    Would you know which keyboard is better the Yamaha PSR-275 or Yamaha psr-e223?
    Thanks for the video. 🤗

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's close, but I'd choose the PSR-E223 because it's a bit newer and it works so well with a sustain pedal as seen in the video :)

    Hello, I have a question for you about the zoom G1 four processor , I watched your review on it . Do you know if it is possible to change the list of strings in the built-in tuner ? For example, add drop c, drop d, and so on . Or, you can edit existing ones in the list . ( I know that there is a chromatic tuner, but it is much more convenient to have several ready-made ones )

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't believe it can do that, no.

    Recently bought a old cheap e233 (ypt230) which is almost identical to this one. I’m trying to find out how to use it with my small synth setup. Can’t really understand how the midi works on these keyboards. Basically I’d like to use keystep to sequence it, I can’t obtain anything but grand piano sound (doesn’t matter which channel I send midi).. does anyone has any tip for me?

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like all your channels are set to grand piano. Change the instrument in the software and the keyboard should comply.

    • @dearvice
      @dearvice 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gearfacts now I’ve found! I setup « program change » on the BCR (instead of CC control); this can change the voice of the Chanel. For example I play on Chanel 8 from keystep any recorded sequence, and I setup an encoder on the BCR on Chanel 8, PC from 0 to 127 and I can switch all voices. Like this I can « live » sequence the PSR! Next issue: I’d like to deactivate all chanels already assigned to all the other gears (because if one of my synths is also on Chanel 8 they’ll play together). Any idea how to deactivate a MIDI Chanel? Thanks to anyone who could help!!

    I have a question. Do we need to get it connected with sustain pedal to get the sustain effect? Or does it already has the built-in sustain function inside of it, that enables us to dial it in without necessarily connect it with sustain pedal? I'm considering to get this one for practicing

  • @HubertEtAlice

    Hi, nice vid. I have the feeling that the older PSR E keyboards such as the E223, the E343 and the E433 for instance were of a better build quality than more recent models.
    For instance, this is a real shame that the newest PSR E273 doesn’t have any digital connection whatsoever (no midi, no usb), so no computer connectivity at all, which is a shame for kids.
    In the same fashion, the E343 IMHO has the best keybed of the PSR E line ever.
    I am strongly hesitating to buy the E463 because although it has far more features than its predecessors the E423 and E433, I have the feeling that the DAC’s of the newest model are of lesser quality than those of its predecessors... what do you think...?

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ooh no, the DAC was one thing that particularly impressed me. The samples sound startlingly professional. Converting midi songs to digital audio (although tediously slow) is also seemingly lossless. I know that's not strictly DAC but yep, no worries there. I think the biggest concern is the lack of realism in the sounds in comparison to its competitors. *Manipulation* of sounds is where it excels.

    • @jadenpina3989
      @jadenpina3989 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Why do you think the older models had better built quality? Was it because Yamaha put more thought into the older ones?

    • @HubertEtAlice
      @HubertEtAlice 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gearfacts Hi Thanks for your advice. I still have a concern about the keybed of the E463 as compared with the E423/433 but, well, you can’t have everything, can you?...

    • @HubertEtAlice
      @HubertEtAlice 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jaden Pina No, not more thoughts, the conception of the newer models remains basically the same. I think that later models are just less well built because of economical concerns such as lowering the costs etc., but then, it is probably the same for everything: washing machines, cars, computers... For instance, first and second gen iPads were built like tanks and made to last decades, which seems a bit absurd for digital products which are already obsolete when they hit the shelves.

      @@HubertEtAliceHi,...Hi... I have to agree with you, at least in my experience. I'm voluntarily retiring my PSR-E423. In my Casios, I've found..: XW-P1, PX-5s, CTK-900, a beautiful keyboard... CTK-5000 already inferior. About sounds you can of course argue. Everything taste thing! As they say: Oldies but goldies!
      kind regards
