I would disagree with your assessment of the SU-122. That thing has T-34 armor at BR 2.3. That thing is bouncy as hell, even more so than the KV tanks later on. The gun is also very good. The 122mm HE round is able to overpressure most targets with the HEAT round having very high penetration should the need arise.

I think you are underestimating or misunderstanding many of these tanks. The KV-2, SU-122, SU-152, and ISU-152 are fabulous (especially the tank destroyers - which are some of the best in the game). They have HE rounds that demolish any tank you shoot at. The reload is really not much of an issue if you play second line like you are supposed to. The PT-76B is also great once you get the HEAT-FS. The armor is bad, yes, but when you are sneaky and make use of your stabilizer, you rule. The ASU-85 isn't trash, you just need to be careful. The early T-34s are not bad at all, especially the 1942 model. The T-26 family can actually be quite fun, especially the T-26E. The Rank II SPAA vehicles can be incredible against planes, especially the BTR-152A. Lastly, the T-10 was greatly undersold. It's really a good tank, both the A and the M.
you dont even need to load HE , since it can be unreliable and requires you to aim on tank roofs or sides of the tank. If you just loaded the APHEBC, you can go through Jumbo UFP up to 3km, and still have sufficent high explosive power ( 1kg TNT filler in the round), your shots wont be stopped by trees and you can shoot anywhere on any tank and you will penetrate and kill it. no need to aim for a weakspot on the jumbo with the HE rounds (mantlet)

I use the premium Thunderbolt for CAS (which is godly) and the Yak-3 for air superiority if needed. This lineup absolutely claps in every sense of the word and doesn't really have a weak link at all. The star vehicle for me is the KV-1 ZiS 5. You can be a complete and utter bastard in this thing. Once spaded it is very mobile for what it is, while being very tough to penetrate for the enemy. Even guns that can go through struggle if there's a slight bit of angle about it. Top fun if you ask me.
Russia has a lot of tanks to fill all BR but theyre northing special. The only tanks that are woth are t3485 t34100 t55am t62am shturm Khrizantema t80bvm and 2s38 as AA, Cas P47d and SU25 the rest are... Always a step below everything else since you only get uptiered constantly. and except p47d and su25 theres nothings cas worthy except KA50/52.
The su 122 is basically a sherman 105 without a turret it's very powerful. Also the pt76 is very good, you have a stabilizer so you always fire first and heatfs pens everything and does decent damage
Great video but i won't agree with one thing. T-64B and weak armour. I see you probably don't have it spaded (especialy don't have ERA). Well, I have it almost 90% spaded and I would say, before I researched the ERA modification I could agree about armour part, but for me, for some magical reason after getting it, T-64B became tanky as hell, boucing a lot of shots even on uptiers, strange considering that contact 1 has only 5mm effectivness againts APFSDS (and yes i was boucing APFSDS).
Why bash the stabilized Heatfs boat known as pt76 when It has good qualities such as: + fast reload 6s + 2 plane stabilizer + decent speed 44kmh + 200mm pen Heatfs In tier 3 Sure it has the same survivability of a milk Truck but that doesnt stop you from making panthers cry.
actually Kirov was killed by a Trotsky supporter, because Kirov kicked him from the party or some shit, if Stalin did have Kirov killed he wouldnt had attended his funeral,or referred Kirov as his best friend, or the For Kirov or something poster
Just go forwards and the game will take care of everything for you, from killing tanks at full speed while unstabilized to bouncinh the most bs shots ever
For me the KV-2 is the tank that I bring out when I absolutely have to kill a ground target as hard as possible. Shoot the lower half of the turret of anything that has a turret, watch the HE overpressure through the roof and kill the crew.
suprised over that you didnt mention the obj 268. also the su and isu152 are easily the most feared tanks at their BRs.. APHEBC can pen Jumbo and Panther UFP up to 3km, and the ISU has good armor , and due to its boxy nature, you can angle it very effectively and bounce tigers and sometimes even panthers. and the OBJ268 which i mentioned, has the same round as the SU and ISU 152's except much higher velocity, allowing it to pen tiger 2 UFP point blank range (if its unangled) , which is extremly strong. and its armor can stop british 20pdr (84mm) APDS to the cheeks. litterally every brit i encountere always shot me there, thinking they have the perfect "kill everything" gun...
Minor incorrect fact, in tier one, the BT's did NOT have a smooth ride, it was very much the opposite. The reason the Soviets bought the model was because it was very fast.
supplementary info -Even though BMP-3's turret and BMD-4's turret seems alike, they use different turret and hence have different ATGM loading speed. -ZSU-37-2'S radar can't be folded, making it more eash to spot in ground confrontation. -khurizantem at 8.3 have proximity fuze missile, but Strum S at BR 9.3 does not. -T90A is the only modern soviet vehicle with time fuze HE shell. it can be as useful as proximity fuze in some situation. +theres very capable vehicle (practically upgraded T-72AV TURMS-T) Named T-72 Mordena. it have wide angle thermal2G for commander, and have western monolithic penetrator shell(TANPA) with 509mm pen andhave 30mm auto cannon with ap(65mm) and HE(3mm) belt. It's mobility and chasis is rather lack luster, but it have shit ton of ERA(developed with cooperation btw slovakia and NATO) which provide certain level of defence even against KE shells. and it have smoke dicharger with 12 shell per spray, providing significantly larger angle of cover of sight. It's my favorite vehicle and donna Y he skipped it.
You got the khrizantema and the shturm backwards, khrizantema is 9.3 ground radar and no he-vt missile shturm is 8.3 with the he-vt missile and the t-72m2 is an event vehicle not in the tech tree
Su-122 and Kv-2 are perfectly adequate. I don't know what you mean regarding "only destroying someones barrel or tracks" - overpressure's been in the game for a while, definitely before this video, so...
Ik im a bit late but roughly when this vid came out i was playing rank 3 ussr and i found the pt76 very enjoyable and it slotted into my 5.7 line up preaty well Ofc playing with apcr kinda sucked but with the tigers it was bearable until i got to heatfs then i knew i was like god as most shells just went right through me (as they say best armour is no armour)
I usually have massive success with the su-57, that little juicebox kills all, respect the pouch. Also on the t-64a, fun fact: it has better cheek armor than the m1a2 abrams in game, it has pretty consistent ~850mm protection against kinetics.
Uh are u tripping the abrams has 1300mm effective I checked the armor t64 a only has 900 to 950 so uh myth busted there also you can angle abrams turret to negate even atgms especially bmp2m and the sides are also very good because the turret
@@lilzenongene well I looked at it it’s about 3000+ on the little parts of the turret t64b has a weak turret compared to abrams plus you have to look at who can angle their turret angling is more better than sloped because it’ll make a difference in battle I have tanked over 50 shells in one game with abrams also to mention didn’t die I didn’t even hull down because when I angle abrams the turret becomes immune and the hull well yeah extra fuel tank protects me from literally everything
@@lilzenongene it could just be m1a1 aim because it has composite screening in that turret of its but yeah you have to look at angle in turret not slopeness
I believe that u did not mentioned some of the worst trash on propose; like the BM-8-24, tough at least u could say to "avoid it at -all- any cost" . Also I just traded my T-10A for a Leo 2AV.
As someone who started playing two months ago with USSR as first nation, it often feel at times as if I am playing a new game on the second hardest difficulty. Currently I am at Rank 4 and my biggest opponent is USA tanks whom I don't seem to be able to penetrate with T-34-57 and KV-85's, whilst getting oneshotted myself quite easily through frontal plating.
you know what they say, this is clearly a skill issue. just make sure to side climb. of course, as a US main, just flank. most of my teammates are clueless lmao.
don't know how it actually performs in game since I haven't unlocked it yet, but the t64a seems to actually have an impressively strong turret, being impenetrable to almost anything at its br
Great video, I was at 7.3 back in 2017 when I stopped and when I just returned was wondering what to expect. Looks like 8.3 is going to be worth it. Cheers!
Ok you can call the Stalin series of tanks either JS or IS is fine. It depends on you pronounce Stalin's name. If pronounce it like this "Joseph Stalin" then its JS, however if your pronounce it like this "Iosif Stalin" which is closer to the Russian pronunciation its IS. Neither IS or JS are wrong and can be called either or depending on how you pronounce Stalin's name.
CONCLUSION: performance is made by a good player, soviet tanks are OP but newbies think they are immortal and spamm them and die, making soviet reputation bad
Su-100 is not "slightly upgraded Su-85M" but Su-85M were made because soviets didn't have enough 100mm guns by that moment so they put 85mm gun in Su-100 hull
a hilarious bit on the t-72A gaijin compared it to the Abrams in their thunder show series. they said the t-72a won in every single way possible and then said it wasn't a fair comparison because the t-72a was 9.3 vs the Abrams at 10.0. Not seeing any bias in this they decided to put the Abrams against a 10.0 Russian tank and it lost again
@@joshhanklonI suppose of anyone knew anything about Ukraine’s policies and nationalistic movements since 2014, they would say “they (Ukraine) asked for it”.
Tbh I prefer the is1 over the is2 solely because of the fire rate. If the shell bounces or you just misjudge distance you pretty much just have your floppy cock in your hands while you wait to be rushed
Imma have to disagree on the pt it’s pen is good and the heat doesn’t usually let me down and for some reason the shell actually over pressures for me unlike the 90mm on the higher rated light tanks
I suck at war thunder, and I was gonna grind the American tech tree but I got so mad after getting deleted so many times in Sherman’s so I decided to grind the Soviet tech tree I will definitely use this so I won’t get deleted
Why have you omitted the KV-122 in rank 4? I have bought a good while ago because it was cheap. At that time I did not like the heavy tanks, and it has a long reload and its armor is not great, but since then I became a better player and I started to like it much. At 5.3 it sits at a pretty low BR and it usually one shots Tigers, Panthers regardless where you hit them....
I’ve played this game since it came out, and my biggest advice is to definitely watch these videos and learn the maps as best as possible. Especially the maps you commonly see, you can greatly exploit most new players or even ones that just don’t pay attention. It’s the knowledge that out beats the firepower in this game. Russia is still OP though so play Russia lmao
Ngl, I say the 96 a P is a little better. It has better horizontal and vertical speeds, and armor that seems stupidly trolly some times. And the slightly better engine, which it's like 20 hp so isn't crazy. Better round for no reason. You lose the citv but I always forget to use it anyways ngl
Problem is that China has a pretty lack luster 9.7 line up. You could say that German 10.0 with the new PzBtl is now the most dominant, but 9.7/10.0 Russia is still pretty strong. You should make some WT vids if you want to grow your channel
@@SAKOSNIPER hm, I do agree with that with China. I just mean more one to one^^ I recently caved in for the 96P and I just honestly feel dirty using it. It's vertical speed just feels really nice to me compared to the turms
As a new player whose finally researching the T-50, I agree that the T-26 makes me want to hang myself. Getting away from the T-26s and you already got through 1 challenge.
*The PT-76B has one of the best gun stabilization at 5.3, It has HEAT shells.* *The ASU-85 has a laser rangefinder, HEAT shells, and stock it can pen 245mm.* *If used correctly, these tanks can be a menace, otherwise, you have a skill issue.*
T-64A can easily be penetrated by 105MM DM23 which is quite common at the BR. The T-64B having bad armour though? That bastard bounces 105Mm DM33 easily with the ERA package.
Just using 7.3 bmp, obj 906 and zsu-57 to grind the tech line, skip all the early cold war t-54. Then buy a BMD-4, with BMP-3 to finish all the rest. Sovet early cold war is totally SXXT. No stabilizer, no RF, no smoke, no NVD and of cause no thermal.
I'm at 5.0 for USSR, a problem I face is getting up tiered, I'm getting bearly any research and spending more sl then I gain on repairs, gonna switch tech tree, any ideas?
I disagree with your assessment of the PT-76B. You are correct in that it's slow and unarmored but if you play it sneakily like a tank destroyer, the HEATFS it gets can be ultra deadly
The t64bv with its era nothing it faces can reliably penetrate it especially if you force a shot, even in a full uptier it only faces the extra 4-5 10.3 tanks that exist resulting in unnoticeable change in performance. It eats top rounds consistently and can survive multiple atgm hits with its era. But the major thing is that it faces 8.3 with the 3bm42 round, which melts through anything, uptiered or not.
I've been loving your deep review of the entire Tech Tree in War of Thunder is very funny and of course Very informative keep up the good work I hope you do well in the future because these videos are very good
I disagree with you about the PT-76 and ASU-85. PT-76 is fast, amphibious, has scouting, and is stabilized. ASU-85 has a good rangefinder and an incredible gun, and the reload isn't bad. Otherwise pretty accurate. Good job!
Man I cant wait to watch this video so I can have an idea to play one of my favorite games, War Thunder. I sure do hope this youtuber wont make multiple jokes about a war that is the reason I am playing games to escape from.
At Top Tier best OP line-up is: Turmus-t, KA-50, Mig21. You will always comes out with profit and there should be no match where you come out with 0 kill unless you are just downloaded the game..
Wheres the t-60, t-70 and t-80 light tanks? The t-80s are infamous with their 3s reload time, and being a 1943 tank it can pen basically everyone at its 2.0 br.

I have it spaded and it’s a beast
T64BV is a gem
When they finally make to we’re contact 1 armor can’t bounce apfds rounds russia top tier will get cut in half.

Why bash the stabilized Heatfs boat known as pt76 when It has good qualities such as:
+ fast reload 6s
+ 2 plane stabilizer
+ decent speed 44kmh
+ 200mm pen Heatfs In tier 3

As a russian main i reckon your comment is spot on, also having german mains usually not on your team is a great advantage
5:53 can we just appreciate the absolutely insane accuracy of that shot.
For me the KV-2 is the tank that I bring out when I absolutely have to kill a ground target as hard as possible. Shoot the lower half of the turret of anything that has a turret, watch the HE overpressure through the roof and kill the crew.
Really appreciate the work/effort you put into your videos. Games like this can't get enough informational content like tutorials/guides and such.
"we covered the T-10-A in the last segment". No, no you didn't.
suprised over that you didnt mention the obj 268.
also the su and isu152 are easily the most feared tanks at their BRs..

-Even though BMP-3's turret and BMD-4's turret seems alike, they use different turret and hence have different ATGM loading speed.

Angle, turret wiggle, press W and shoot at the not strong part of enemy tanks?
I guess this vid was made before Overpressure became Busted, or before the PT-76B actually became pretty usable
The asu-85 reload speed has been buffed to 8.3 seconds and it’s one of the best tank in my 5.3/6.3line up right beside the IS-2 with the better ufp
don't know how it actually performs in game since I haven't unlocked it yet, but the t64a seems to actually have an impressively strong turret, being impenetrable to almost anything at its br
It's BR 9.0, which usually means it fights BR 9.7/10.0 vehicles due to all the new premiums. It is pretty strong in SIM, and downtiers tho!
Not only at its br its turret is immune to everything in the game due to a bug. Not even dm53 out of l55 can deal with it
Important question Rang 7
T-A90A -> 2S25
T-72B3-> 2S25M
Correct
And
T-80U and T-80BVM are the best Russian panzer correct ?
I don’t know why but I love the Pt-76 I had a 9 kill game with it when I got it.
The T64BV (V) its with the era have a good armor.
there are also no light vehicles on wheels so players either use the BTs or the milk truck or BTR152
Great video, I was at 7.3 back in 2017 when I stopped and when I just returned was wondering what to expect. Looks like 8.3 is going to be worth it. Cheers!
27:40 wasn’t expecting the n-word 😂
Ok you can call the Stalin series of tanks either JS or IS is fine. It depends on you pronounce Stalin's name. If pronounce it like this "Joseph Stalin" then its JS, however if your pronounce it like this "Iosif Stalin" which is closer to the Russian pronunciation its IS. Neither IS or JS are wrong and can be called either or depending on how you pronounce Stalin's name.
CONCLUSION: performance is made by a good player, soviet tanks are OP but newbies think they are immortal and spamm them and die, making soviet reputation bad
Su-100 is not "slightly upgraded Su-85M" but Su-85M were made because soviets didn't have enough 100mm guns by that moment so they put 85mm gun in Su-100 hull
the su-100 was made after the su 85?
a hilarious bit on the t-72A gaijin compared it to the Abrams in their thunder show series. they said the t-72a won in every single way possible and then said it wasn't a fair comparison because the t-72a was 9.3 vs the Abrams at 10.0. Not seeing any bias in this they decided to put the Abrams against a 10.0 Russian tank and it lost again
Funfact:
Bucket was used to refill the tanks with gasoline/diesel.
Germans used it the same way.

A bit off the topic but i truly do think that T-80U turret is way prettier than B one while T-90A is my favourite tank by far
I’m just looking at this as a noob like ‘I just like big Stalinium tanks that go boom with cool looking armour’
Great Tea-bias as always Sako! Looking forward to Italy and Britain if you do them.

T64's have great armors especially T64A's turret armor is great frontally and even side. What do you mean weak armor?
T-64A can easily be penetrated by 105MM DM23 which is quite common at the BR. The T-64B having bad armour though? That bastard bounces 105Mm DM33 easily with the ERA package.
Just using 7.3 bmp, obj 906 and zsu-57 to grind the tech line, skip all the early cold war t-54. Then buy a BMD-4, with BMP-3 to finish all the rest.
Sovet early cold war is totally SXXT. No stabilizer, no RF, no smoke, no NVD and of cause no thermal.
In rank 3 T-34-57 (1943) is really amazing premium as it has glitched ammo rack and can't get killed by it
