      The thing is that when I had premium I was more willing to rush since I didn't care about the repair costs and it felt I won a lot more games because my team was only defending and when I yolo rushed or tried a really risky flank most of the times it made us win the game.

      For the most part yes I think this is more play to your tanks strengths. Most players only have one playstyle usually aggressive or campy but different tanks work best with different playstyles i.e heavy tanks mostly support/defensive and light tanks a best for flanking and scouting and mediums are well rounded for the most part

  • @LionFace
    @LionFace 2 ปีที่แล้ว +563

    In addition to faster spading of vehicles using the backup, I always used them to save on silver lions for expensive vehicles I wanted to play if I was tight on SL or having trouble in the meta with the vehicle. You only get charged the repair bill if you end up back at the hanger with a dead tank. If you use a backup on a tank and survive till the end of the match, you have no repair bill. If you die twice in the tank, you only get a single repair bill for that tank. It has saved me millions of SL over the years.

    Please add these two
    1. Always pay attention to the map & kill feed.
    2. If you are in a capable fighter in ground RB always focus on enemy CAS. I've been bombed lots of times with lots of planes in my team who didnt even care there are incoming enemy planes

    • @cookiecraze1310
      @cookiecraze1310 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Also that it's better to bring a fighter in a lineup than an AA vehicle for most BR's pre-top tier, even if the fighter is horrible outdated.

    • @mk1interactive944
      @mk1interactive944 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your second point can be eclipsed by listening to the aircraft, it isn't just tanks you are positioning against. If you can have cover or the front of your tank facing toward heli spawns and be in off angles to your allies (ie a plane can't make *one* run on you and another) you will find that you will win more games. unfortunately if you are the best player on the team there is no avoiding getting bombed, at least you can nuke em! :D

    • @mehuna66
      @mehuna66 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@mk1interactive944 you know that tanks isnt that agile and most maps dont provide cover.
      And trying to cover from a plane will expose to enemy. And cover will not provide enough good protection against bombs.
      Best solution is prioritizing intended role of your vehicle. Capable aircraft should engage enemy CAS first

    • @mk1interactive944
      @mk1interactive944 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mehuna66 I never said cover will protect you against bombs. I also said, "If you can have cover" meaning if its an option.
      I do admit however I misinterpreted your second statement as "shoot aircraft every chance you get", I'm sorry.
      I would argue that making it harder to be targeted/destroyed and using you vehicle/s for its intended purpose to protect allies is the best, strategically.

    Good tutorial, (as usual). Thank you for the continued content.
    My additions/elaborations:
    1. Sometimes the best shot is the one not taken, or deferred.
    2. Not only know your vehicles strengths and weaknesses, (armor, speed, etc), try to know your enemies strengths and weaknesses.
    3. Gap - Map - Cap. Before the battle begins figure out where you sit in the BR, (full up/downtier, etc), what is the map, and what kind of battle it is, (how many/where located are the Caps). That will help in your decision making of what to take out and where.
    4. Watch videos, (and support from the creators).
    5. Join a squadron. There is a lot of good institutional knowledge in them and some decent communities.
    &
    6. Have fun. Yes it can be frustrating and grindy, but ultimately these are 1st world problems. It is nothing more than a game where one will experience good and bad gameplay from one's self and others. Shake off the bad and enjoy the good.
    Wishing good games ahead to the community.

    I've been playing since 2014, and I've realized that once you get really into this game Gaijin really prey on FOMO. That being the fear of missing out, and just take it from someone who wasted time in life-draining events for vehicles that aren't that impressive. If it's a personal favorite, and even if not that great in game, get it. Along with ones you truly believe will be beneficial to a lineup you already have, and not just think you may want someday. These last events have been so underwhelming I didn't participate and don't at all feel like I missed out. However, I got the Baltimore during the winter event a bit back and love it dearly and would've really been sad to miss out. Just have fun. As a long-time war thunder player it took me years to realize that fun will carry you through this game and events more than grinding because of FOMO.

    • @vgames1543
      @vgames1543 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Reject FOMO, rise up against Gaijin oppressors. They cannot stop all of us.
      Rarity and the artificial scarcity causing it is anti-consumer and player degrading. Every vehicle should be realistically accessible to everyone in some form.

    I’ve been playing this game since Ground Forces Beta. Here are my tips:
    1. Always assume that the player that kills you is a cheater. Makes you feel unbeatable and pro
    2. Call him out on that in chat and tell him
    KYS. This helps to vent frustration
    3. Don’t play Gaijin events unless you are a unemployed single. They are pure frustration. It is easier to just buy the event vehicles later on if you really want it
    4. Don’t buy newly released premiums. Wait 3-6 months till they have received their first nerfs (if any).
    5. Don’t play this game with the objective to research top tier vehicles ASAP. It is grindy AF. Learn to enjoy spading vehicles. I haven’t reached top tier with any nation after 8 years of playing
    6. Get premium time, it is not really a F2P game beyond BR 5.0ish

      My major tip is to reconfigure keyboard to esdf movement, that way your left hand or secondary hand is always utilizing your typing memory. Thus when you need to hit b, you will hit b, no need to look down at the board. This opens up a lot of keys around esdf that can be used faster and with more precision, since u type a lot and that typing xp can be transfered to gaming. That wasd configuration from doom days is so... old.

    All good until you meet a soviet tank with invisible armour. They can also bounce hits coming at 90 degrees and also their ammo doesn't want to explode. Your shell sometimes also likes to disappear somewhere inside a soviet tank. Soviet tanks engines also like to sometimes go stealth and on top of that if you manage to penetrate a soviet tank ( IF A PLAYER IS NOT SOVIET IP ADDRESS ) then your explosive shell doesn't really want to 'explode' inside a soviet tank.

    Only thing I'd add to that is with backups use them in the Premium zone 9.0/9.7. Rather than 1 spawn deaths, take a backup. Now you won't always need or be able to use it as top tier is very quick and the game can be gone by the time you die. But it's there as an option and you can be more hep to your team.

    My Tip is relatively Simple; every Tank/Plane/Ship you unlock and Buy gets some Free Repairs. Put some Back-Ups onto them so you can not only use them twice in a Match, but also you won't need to pay for the Repairs for the first 10 or so Repairs (do note that you can save a Free Repair if you use a Backup and the Tank is still alive at the end without Damage)

    If you want to research new vehicles or grind sl always use a fully spaded vehicle. Preferably no lower than one rank below the tank you intend to unlock. You get a research efficiency boost on vehicles below or one rank above your vehicles current rank and if your vehicle is fully spaded you put all the earned rp into the new vehicle instead of dividing it between your vehicles modules and the new vehicle. You can see the specific percentages of sl an rp gained from a vehicle at the bottom of the stat card when you hover over it in the tech tree.

    1)Disable autorepair. If you need full roster of vehicles, you get prompt to repair them all anyway. We are looking at big numbers over time here, with 8-15k SL per nation tree a day being realistic without any edge cases.
    2)Remember: it's barely a team game. Yes, you have teams, but you only prevail if you play it as free-for-all with assists provided when it is of any assistance to YOU. This grants you several basic rules.
    2a)Never sit in the first line. Doing so gets you killed or damaged. Let someone else do the dying.
    2b)Extend teammates life time by shooting those shooting at them. If they landed the first shot on your meat shield and he is not dead yet, you most likely won't get shot when you search the enemy (Most players will try to finish off the meat shield), giving you free aimed shot. Properly aimed shot = incapacitated enemy. Incapacitated enemy keeps your meatshield alive.
    2c)Repair your meat shield afterwards, but make sure that you won't be shot doing so. If trying to help will get you in the open - leave the meat shield for dead and retreat back to grab new meat shield.
    2d)If you have 2 extinguishers, DO use one on non-open top teammate, but only if he already spent his own. As cynical as it sounds, players who haven't unlocked their own extinguishers most likely won't be able to do much - their gun accuracy sucks, proper shells/shots are not unlocked, probably non-existent experience with the vehicle.
    3)Get yourself some custom sights. Base sights game uses got atrocious range readings for shots without setting range on the gun.
    4)Playing arcade, learn your anti-air machine gun. Players typically go into suicide dive in air vehicles in this mode, getting a critical hit against such enemies gets YOU a free plane point when they slam themselves into the ground. If your BR range sees a lot of open tops, go to sprinkletown. Enemy will quickly succumb to your hot loads and either switch to SPAAs (Which die to tanks rather easily and are still bullied by planes), switch back to closed tops (Which is least desired outcome, but you still get enemy with one less drop) or quit alltogether.
    5)Have fun. If you don't have fun, stop playing war thunder and play something else, like yourself or Genshin Impact.

    On the last topic, I find having a five button mouse most optimal for War Thunder. This comes in the form of your basic Left and Right mouse button, Scroll wheel Button, and two Thumb Buttons being rightfully labeled from front to back as Mouse 4 and 5.
    I have Mouse 4 set as my range finder for ground RB, as well as Missiles and Rockets for Air.
    And for Mouse 5, I have it for flares in Air RB, and the Thermal Imager, since pressing ] was taking too long, as well as tedious when in combat.

      I agree with the need for a multi-button mouse, it would be useful for other players but for me I have no need of it because I have already memorized most of my necessary key controls like if I switch aircraft weaponry i simply click my page up or page down keys or if I switch flaps I just click the keys without looking
      but there are controls that I have problems with and I think would be solved with the use of a multi-button mouse but my broke ass couldn't afford one even if its second hand because the prices for electronics even for a mouse in my country are so much expensive

    Number 1 tip I can give for ground battles is: listen to (enemy) engine sounds. I almost always have the drop on enemies just because I hear them coming. I seriously feel like 90% of the players just don't pay attention or play without sound. They drive around corners and get blasted back into their hangars because they had no clue. Also - if you want to win - play in squads and most important of all play for objectives. My solo play winrate sits around 65% and my squad winrate is over 90%. Having 1 tot 3 more above average players in a game makes ALL the difference. A solo player can only do so much.

    If you can´t or don´t want to afford a programmable mouse, it already helps to reassign your most used keybinds to keys, where you know the position on your keyboard by heart and hit them without looking.
    By now, I don´t even have to look away from my screen to know which key I´m pressing. I recommend keys aboth space so z, x, c, v, b, n and m (on an english keyboard), since you can hit them quickly with your thumb and over time muscle memory will do the rest.

    A personal tip from me: Reasigning important keys to comfortable positions and asigning some important functions in the first place

  • @JoeDraiser
    @JoeDraiser ปีที่แล้ว

    My tips are:
    1. Dont take points unless it is very necessary. If you cleared the point - just neutralize it and move to a better position closer to enemy spawn. Friendly fresh spawnies will do the work for you on a secured point and get the spawn point they lost. While you can ambush rushing tank from enemy spawn. Taking points is not the main goal. Killing enemies is paramount.
    2. If spawn point is camped - use another one. You would not brake the deadlock in 85% of situations. Use safer flank. I saw many times team killing themselves on a doomed spawnpoint without even a chance. And as a spawncamper - I feel very uncomfortable when you spawncamp and none spawns while whole enemy team is alive.

    I have my most used functions within easy reach of my left hand. Q brings up my map for dropping artillery, space binoculars, r for repair, and things like that. Also, a few important things are programmed on my logitech G502 mouse like for my range finder, I just push down on my mouse roller. For me, I got most tanks and don't worry about grinding - I just play for fun (or for the frustration). I enjoy playing mid-tier the most. War Thunder takes a great amount of skill, unfortunately, a lot of the time, I think you are battling against the random number generator in WT. I know how and where to hit most tanks. I hover in the top 70% of team rankings, so I consider myself a decent player. Often, I can kill a tank with a single hit. Other times, I can hit that same spot from the same distance, same angle, same ammo etc, and nothing. It will bounce or cause minimal damage. I can hit it 5 times in the same spot and nothing. That is the frustrating part of WT.

    Some great tips but one very important thing is awareness and exercising it wear a headset pay attention to engine noises around you in the sound settings you can lower the volume of the engine of your own vehicle to better hear your enemy pay attention to the sounds of guns aorund you and the muzzle flashes you can spot behind cover and dont forget to pay attention to the map and kill feed keep track of where your enemies died what vehicle kileld them and where they could be close to your ally dead body far from it snipping all that will help you know where your enemy is before they know where you are or can shoot you also study what cover can be shoot through and which cant so you dont end up in a bad spot and get killed by a shot that went straight through your cover always remember knowledge is power.

    What I learned as a "beginner" or "returner" (I played War Thunder when it got released) Never ever play on weekends if you want to grind stock tanks or crews! You get in the line of those players who knows only the W-Key and the left mouse button and the pro players. They know every spot and it seems like they know where you gonna be before you know it yourself. This lesson cost me a big drop on my winrate. And yes! For me winning is an essential part of playing games.
    2nd big lesson for me. You fear an enemy tank? Learn the weakspots. Get better and the fear will disappear. My biggest fear was the T-34 ... now this tank is only dangerous on bigger distances (weakspots are small with low penetration).
