The unsung benefit of electric bikes like the varg and surron's gaining so much popularity is all the hooligans are getting them and no longer making a shit load of noise in the middle of the night 😄
I love the stealth of them especially if you don’t have many spots to ride, the ability to just cruise the neighborhood without disturbing anyone is amazing!
@@KevinSornig It's Stealth is totally underrated. It literally opens up a whole new world of places to ride. The places I've been able to take mine and not upset people would surprise you. IC bikes tend to really upset people just from the noise alone.
@ they pretty mind blowing to see in the flesh , I still remember when I first went in to look at one I had an idea of what I thought they look like from pictures but one thing you can’t see is how slim they are . And so clean with no pipe and cluttered engine area
I don't actually own a bike, but if I get to that stage of a midlife crisis, I'd probably get an electric bike. That Stark looks mighty good on paper as a weekend toy, not that I have 14K for a toy.
I’ve owned around 10 gas motorcycles, but I recently bought a Zero SR/S, and I don’t think I’ll go back. It handles like a 750-1000cc sports bike, has instant torque, and still gets a range of around 100 miles at highway speeds, even with full throttle. Charging takes about 7 hours with a standard wall outlet and less than 1 hour with a fast charger. With an MPGe in the 300s, it’s the closest you can get to free travel, with almost no maintenance. I agree that the price is steep, but if you find a used one that’s a couple of years old, you can get a great deal as long as the battery degradation is minimal. This is a solid choice, and I would highly recommend it
I’m glad to hear from someone who’s made the switch themselves! That’s truly impressive and like you said it’s basically free travel which I never considered before. I would like to go ride some of these bikes to get a real feel of the power. Ride safe!
The E-bike scene has blown up and you’re right, no registration, no license, no money in gas. Pretty solid transportation for the young bucks out there.
KTM exc 300: 104.6kg without fuel Stark Varg EX: 120kg would it lose 25 kg it would be 10 lighter than the exc. both stock out the showroom as listed on eigher webseite
I have a talaria Mx4 and it has its limitations. But, golly if you can make it work it’s the best thing I’ve ever done.. my work is 24mi round and Cruz around block, store, ect another 5/6 mi 3hr chg. As long as I stay within 36/38 mi I’m fine. And they are quiet!. Still will have a gas for real travel. But around town. It’s great.
I had this debate I own 2 street bikes and a dirtbike . Honestly I kept saying I wouldn’t get electric until I tried one and I had to buy me a talaria sting r it’s fun and just different but I love that I have a variety of motors to choose from
I have owned 60+ motorcycles from a cb1100 to Supermotos to a bmw hp4. Now I just ride my talaria. Gas bikes are dead imo. Most of my riding friends are done too.
Electric dirt bike that you can trailer to where you're going to enjoy it, hell yeah. Electric tourer, adventure or sport bikes make no sense until we get ranges up beyond human comfort and charge times down. That will only happen with significant improvements in battery tech which have been stuck in the perpetual "next year" for almost a decade... You can safely ignore electric bikes until this changes. Maybe 2030 is achievable but anyone who tells you "soon" got sold on a hype train - enjoy ICE in the meantime
I agree, we’re getting closer but until the charge times decrease and the range increases most of us are better off with a gas bike. They do have some appealing characteristics, but it doesn’t make up for the long charge times and limited ranges.
I can see that, especially since charging stations probably aren’t anywhere close to those areas. And waiting 8-11 hours for your bike to charge ain’t fun at all.
Why is it that so many people that i know regret getting a electric motorcycle? Why is it that electric motorcycles companies going bankrupt like Energica for one? Its because electric motorcycles suck! Sure they got some serious torque but the range sucks. Can you imagine taking a 4 hour trip that turns into about 7 because you have to keep charging your bike for about 30 to 40 minutes. Oh, what about a iron butt? No way could you do one of those. No thanks to electric motorcycles. I will take gas any day over them. My guess is that most people that enjoy classics will stay with classics. Hell, you can even get some of them to accept tech. No way are you going to shove electric bikes down their throat. Nope not going to happen. Electric motorcycles are just a fad and they will go away very soon.
I see where you’re coming from and I agree for the most part. I think electric bikes fit a certain group of people and they’re specific tools for a job. I agree that they’re not gonna replace my gas bikes. But, they have come a long way. And yes a lot of electric motorcycle manufacturers are going bankrupt and I think for good reasons, but some of these brands I think are here to stay. Either way i still think gas bikes are the way to go, but who really knows🤷🏻♂️
You know, back in the late 1800s when ICE cars were becoming popular, people in general hated them. They are noisy, dangerous, they go too fast, they pollute, they are for the obnoxious rich and boisterous, they’re a fad. Look at where we are today. There’s always the skeptics. They live in the past. Wake up. We can’t relay on oil forever. It’s either we run out of oil or atmosphere. Or both.

@ that’s one of the things drawing me to get a Surron or a Talaria, virtually zero noise and still a lot of power coming from those e-bikes.
I’ve owned about 25 gas bikes and now have a varg , it’s by far the best bike I’ve ever owned it’s so smooth and tunable for any situation.
Love to hear it! I’m trying to find a dealership near me that has them so I can go check one out in person!

That makes me want to go try one out even more lol

I don't see anyone switch, but do see some youngen just by pass all the added hassle the get license and rock surron or something cheaper.

Stark needs to shed 20-25kg before it’s a no-brainer for me. In the meantime it still with my 101kg ktm 300
KTM exc 300: 104.6kg without fuel
Stark Varg EX: 120kg

I’d love to get one just to have to mess around on. Those Talaria’s are really nice, I wanna test one out and decided between that and a surron

If I had the ability to own multiple bikes right now I would 100% have a Stark, and like you said it’s nice to have a variety of

Good then i can buy them for cheap since no one wants them. Their is no way in hell i will own an electric car or electric motorcycle.
I trust you on that one. Those Talarias are nice bikes

In my rural area, nobody owns electric except fat tired bicycles.
I can see that, especially since charging stations probably aren’t anywhere close to those areas. And waiting 8-11 hours for your bike to charge ain’t fun at all.
Why Are So Many People Switching to Electric Motorcycles?...Er, are they really? I very much doubt it, scooters maybe but real bikes I don't think so
Some people are, I’ve seen a lot more around my area but it still has me wondering if it’s really worth it.
