    Your videos saves money for my parents medicine. Yesterday my mother (72) took a "pill" of Oslo-Aal drive and her blood pressure stabilized. Father fell asleep from it... So, thank you. :)

    Great view of Elisenberg Station (usually I only get a peek out the side) and the Siemens German-style exit signals on platforms 1 and 2 at Lysaker. Now I'll have to see if you've got video of the style of signals on the Gardermoen Line, especially Lillestrøm.
    At 16:50 just after Skøyen the signals to the left of your track have a more rectangular target than the normal modern one on your track (but not the big rectangles of the Gardermoen line); is this a new standard, or a one-off?

    @nixinity3267 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hello, HinduCowGirl.
    It was nice to see that you showed us the train from the inside and how you started it up. Can you possibly do more of like a "freecam" video, so we can see the interior of the train, and how you drive it? :) Can you do more of these kinds of videos? :) And maybe you can commentate over it, if that's possible? I really enjoy those kinds of videos, and not just cabviews. This was just an idea and I hope that you can take it into consideration.
    Nixinity.

    Very very nice. Thanks for your work. I'll sure come back for some more cabride footage. It would be really nice to have a subtitle pointing out the names of the stations or landmarks. That way all the foreign folks can gat an idea where the train is. But then again it could be too much editing, and it won't keep anyone away. Jeg snakker lite norsk, ha det bra.

    Love your videos - have spent many late nights enjoying them. Was a little concerned at the sequence at 4:55 coupling onto your train. The worker on the ground seems to be putting himself in between your locomotive and the train as you approach. This seems a little unsafe by United States railroad practice. Can you comment?

    • @KuntalGhosh
      @KuntalGhosh 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its common throughout the world. In United States u guys have different types of coupling.. us couplers locks up automatically , but fot the most part of the world passenger train coupling is done with a chain and a tensioner... The guy was in between the loco to save time and its safe enough , unless the loco pilot just rams the coaches and maybe crush the guy but most of the time this doesn't happen.

  • @koppadasao
    @koppadasao 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ouch! They're still doing it... walking in between the rolling loco and the stationary cars. Well, don't give'em a hug...

    • @MrOpenGL
      @MrOpenGL 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's the way you have to do if you want to couple passenger wagons with a chain coupler.
      If you just put the coupler on without first pressing the buffers with the locomotive, as soon as the locomotive ceases to power and starts braking (especially if using dynamic/regen braking) the poor passengers will be jostled around :D

    • @koppadasao
      @koppadasao 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually it's a practice that's been abolished serveral places because of the risk of giving the worker a deathly hug.

    ...just watching that lovely video I have noticed that while train moves on "train mode"(with passengers),in addition to normal green signals,all shunting signals on route shows also "proceed" (equivalent to green light). Is that a normal procedure of signalling at Norway Railways? Iam asking as it is not on British (where I live now) nor Polish (I came from). Greetings from London

    • @RailCowGirl
      @RailCowGirl  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are not turned off in the tunnels. It's a combination of shutterspeed/ISO and aperture, as well as the bad headlights on this engine.

    (2) What do people do in the winter (thinking of the Christmas day video, from Voss to Ål) with many isolated homesteads?
    (3) What a beautiful countryside Norway has.

    • @RailCowGirl
      @RailCowGirl  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      (1) yes, it cuts the travel time in half.
      (2) those "isolated" homesteads are cabins, and Norwegians are all about their cabins.
      (3) You should come here and experience it. Hiking here is exceptional :D

      Namaste! One more question: the signs that require you to honk your horn sometimes have an obvious reason, but there are many where there is no visible reason to honk, and others where there are homes close to the track, but no sign to give a warning. I'm missing something here, but what?
      The Norwegian Tourist people should give you a reward for your camera work!.

    Hi! Does an electric locomotive generally have gears and if so, how many in the EL18, please?

    • @RailCowGirl
      @RailCowGirl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are no gears. Everything is controlled through the frequency in the magnetic field in the engine :)

    • @Hallands.
      @Hallands. 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      HinduCowGirl Ah, I see, that's good engineering. Tried to look it up and NSB has a lot of data on the EL18, weight, power, top speed and asynchronous, three fase engine, but I stilled though - since there's a lot of mass to accelerate from zero - that gears might be needed. Didn't know the frequency can be controlled. Thanks for your uploads, love them. 😄🍀🍀❤️

    Amazing as all your videos are. Love the season changing beautiful fall trees. One question "How do you know to pick up passengers at stops if nobody getting off that stop before you get to the stop and see them ? Ok so maybe dumb question I am in USA we don't have these type of trains or any near me. We have subway cars in other east coast and west coast states but nothing in Kansas City Kansas, except the loco Amtrak train which seems to be having tons of wrecks these days lol. We need the type you have there. Awesome trains. Safe travels ahead God bless.

    • @RailCowGirl
      @RailCowGirl  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey SlyCat,
      Not a dumb question at all. We have a schedule we follow. It tells where to stop and when we are supposed to be there. Some stops are marked with an X in our schedule, which means on demand. We only stop on those station if the conductor tells us that there is no one getting off, and we have to be sure to be able to stop if someone wants to get on :D
      Well, the latest Amtrak accident seems to be BNSF problem, since they have yet to install PTC (Positive Train Control) on their rolling stock. It's horrible either way, belive me, we are watching all these accidents happening left and right. There has also been an increase in accident here in Europe as well. Mysteriously it happens as things are getting privatized... one can wonder if it happens due to reduction of safety standards to cut costs and increase revenue.
      A very very very dangerous path to go down.
      Stay safe and God bless :D

      Then the train stops due to lack of engagement with the SIFA-system.

    Holy cow, girl! You're a train driver, yourself, aren't you? Oh, it says so on your channel. I began to suspect something prof halfway into the second video, and now you're busted! Love your videos. 🍀

    • @RailCowGirl
      @RailCowGirl  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I am :D What gave me away? Hehehhe :D

    • @Hallands.
      @Hallands. 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      HinduCowGirl I began wondering at the second video I watched.
      1. Camera steadily centralized
      2. No small talking.
      3. Posting a video without mentioning the route, let alone the country.
      4. The matter of fact titles
      But you had me guessing like crazy until we reached the first town on the first one where I asked: Where! (Could it be Japan? No, the houses are wrong! Switzerland? Again, none of the characteristics houses? And your username threw me too. Sweden? Nah, rails too smooth for the mountainous regions and farmhouses too well kept! Germany? Austria? Norway?)
      Anyway, none of this will happen with enthusiastic train buffs on their vacation.
      Then I watched my third video of yours and you entered the cabin and routinely switched on the engine and picked up various wagons, you were sooo busted by Sherlock Holmes reincarnated - although my ego deflated significantly when I saw the last page of your channel. You already told us up front... 🐘

    • @RailCowGirl

      HinduCowGirl Kind of you to say so, but Sherlock would have checked the cannel info first 😔

      HinduCowGirl How did you come up with your funny username? Any relations to India? Cows, err, I mean farming? Anyway, it's very nice - like everything else on your channel.

    • @RailCowGirl
      @RailCowGirl  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can see the speed limit on the trackside signals :) triangles with numbers :)

    • @ironfoxzone2252
      @ironfoxzone2252 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      HinduCowGirl yea i know but it would be much easier for the viewwer if there was a constant speed edited on the screen. like on dulevoz's videos (check him out he does cabview videos in serbia)

    • @RailCowGirl
      @RailCowGirl  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There are 140 speed changes one line. It would be a massive job going in doing that each time.
      From Bergen to Voss:
      30 - 105 - 130 - 100 - Arna - 80 - 100 - 75 - 50 - 60 - 50 - Trengereid - 130 - 75 - 50 - 60 - Vaksdal - 100 - 70 - 100 - 60 - 55 - 85 - 65 - Stanghelle - 80 - 100 - 80 - 60 - Dale - 70 - 130 - 120 - Bolstadøyri - 80 - 70 - 80 - 110 - 130 - 80 - Evanger - 75 - 85 - 90 - 70 - 40 - Bulken - 40 - 130 - 90 - 60 - Voss....
      It would be a massive job, and I would not be able to keep posting each week :( As with Dulevoz, who does not post each week. It's a balance. :/

    Here is another question for you on this video: th-cam.com/video/m7rWhCqsh2I/w-d-xo.html What loco/DMU do you think this might be? BM73, class 93 or DI4? Thanks for your help in advance.

    • @RailCowGirl
      @RailCowGirl  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Dana Mack this is the EL18. The video is from the national broadcasting company called NRK. It was the thing that kicked off the whole Slow-TV epidemic 😂
      You see the Type73 to your left. That type does not service the Bergen line anymore, due to the conditions in the mountains. It was too light.

    • @DanaMackstormdog94
      @DanaMackstormdog94 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am astonished that the guy coupling the Locomotive to the Coaches steps between them when the Loco is still approaching the Coaches. This would not be allowed in U.K. on safety grounds and he would run the risk of dismissal. While you are a very good fully trained driver, in the best ordered situations, accidents can happen.

    [8] Cab view Trondheim - Bodø [Saalbahnhof] NSB class 93 DMU pub 6.21.13
    Cab Ride Norway : Trondheim - Bodø (Winter) Nordland Line
    Is my presumption of a class 93 probably correct? From the way the cab is closer to the ground led me to think this. Thanks in advance for your reply!

      +Dana Mack this looks more like the DI4 :) The cam would be much more to the center on a type93.
