I love how Norwegian trains just keep on going even in snow drifts, here in the UK a heavy frost and the train service in thrown into complete disarray, with cancellations delays and breakdowns. Well done Norway.
I've gotten the impression that Brits are in a sort of denial about winter. Although winters are generally less severe in the UK than in the Norwegian highlands, snowfall and freezing temperatures are hardly unheard of. Yet UK architecture and infrastructure have a reputation for beeing unprepared for winter. I guess they kept a stiff, albeit shivering upper lip, and muddled through. In Norway, the stubbornly unprepared were likely to die off.
WOW! This was truly amazing, watched the entire journey in one hit! I have never seen snow in person, it looks so beautiful and the scenery, simply amazing. Love the little houses here and there & I imagine the the people inside, reading a book or just looking out the windows with a cosy fire burning. Would love to live somewhere like that, it looks peaceful. Thank you for posting! 🤗🤗
My favorite video to sit and relax to. I watch it often. Also I can't help but notice all the houses and cabins off in the distances. What is it like to live like that so far out there, i wish I could live in seclusion like that. Beautiful.
+Pete Rice Norwegians love their cabins :) Finse which is the highest situated station on the bergen line is 4009ft (1222m) above sea level. This used to be a very active community. It was a way of life. Now Finse attracts people who wants survival training, skiers and kiters. The winters there can be very treacherous.
Thank you for the information. I was wondering what people did there, especially in the winter. Even in the summer it seems pretty bleak. Love your videos...you make an effort to provide us with tidbits such as elevation, signage meanings, etc.
Hi, A week ago we went through Hurricane Michael in the Florida Panhandle and had massive damage and destruction on our farm, but that was like a walk in the park in the summer compared to this Norway train ride. This was scary. Norwegians, must be amazing builders and totally fearless.
Back in the 1800s(*), and the early 1900s, yes. Less so today(**), with modern comforts. *) In the 1800s, Norwegian fishing was largely done by rowing boats, sometimes in weather as hostile as this train ride; except high waves in stead of tracks, and sometimes in the dark. Workplace fatalities were more frequent back then. **) Am Norwegian, and couch potato.
just watching the line. the thought of charging along and get total blinded by a snow drift. plunging into a black tunnel before the screen has cleared. then the snow covering the head lights. something you must get used to. sitting watching a screen in a warm house with no respectability is easy . Having the controls in your hand and a long train full of people is defiantly different. Doing this in a whiteout is different, demanding and tough. Doing the same at night when many of the location markers disappear must be a thing where training and experience is paramount. Thanks for doing this as It is so good. Amacf

The Bergen Line was a crazy project from day one :D It was incredibly ambitious :) and the managed to do it. We will never see a political ambition or effort like this in this country ever again.
Did this ride in Jan 1967. It was an experience when our knowledge wasn't as extensive to leave Bergen wet a slushy in our shoes and an anorak and climb into temperatures of just on minus 20 with snowflakes inside the triple glazing on the train then getting off at Ornegerget 32.51 blink and you miss it, just snow and the railing, for the youth hostel below. The train did not stop, moving at a crawl through this unstaffed halt to avoid a stall. Bags and passengers jumped out onto the snow then a clamber down a pretty steep slippery slope. Bags went separately on a powered cable basket down to the youth hostel which was welcoming and warm.
I've never that beauty of nature. I've naver been to Norway too. Thank you for this video. This help me to watch this beautiful view of there. Thanks a lot
Breath taking...like watching peaceful mono color film. I walked by Bergen station in late Jan. 2017, sadly I didn't have the time to ride the rail. And in January, there was no snow.. i remember it started to snow after my departure. I have to see the snow in Bergen.... well, snow maybe a common and somewhat annoying sight for those who accustomed to it. For someone who has never seen snow in his life, it remained uncrossed out in his bucket list.
I loved operating in the snow. Acceleration & Braking was about the same as when it was dry. Plus nothing beats going down the Main Line in a snow storm & watching the snow vortex’s swirl around the cars.
This is the 3rd time watching this one for me, it’s great for insomnia, it’s so relaxing & enjoyable & I find it impossible to think of anything else while watching. Thank you.

Relax ? mdrrrrrr
korea
Nickiamx she you meant
Nickiamx in that case but I don’t think so
Do you commenters have some reason for not taking her at her word, i.e. she drives the trains & places the camera in the cab to record the trip?
This is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, ❤️, America.
When I can’t sleep or anytime I watch, it puts me at ease. Thank you , 🐮 .
I'm glad you like it
Train Therapy...so well done! Thank you...
A very hypnotic video indeed. I love how you start from the lower lying area where it looks to be raining to higher up in the hills/mountains where the snow is covering the rails.
Beautiful Thank you for taking me on a wonderful three-hour journey I have no words I love Norway good for your country I hope one day to visit you soon beautiful Truly enchanted a video that enchanted me an infinite crossing there was a moment when you passed in the high mountains with the snow that you could not see anything the train tracks seem to fly with you on your railway as if it were up for me crossing the snow but it was beautiful thank you so much thank you so much for this indescribable emotion 👍❤️😉💯That point in the high mountains where the tracks are no longer seen you looked like Superman flying away over the snow was beautiful 🧔&🐶
Fantastic, love the way the train goes over the snow and no railway lines seen..
That was the most captivating two hours I've spent in a very long time. Thank you.
Je découvre fin novembre 2021 immobilisée au milieu de la France depuis 18 mois. Quel voyage quel dépaysement quel mouvement !! Fascinant captivant. Magnifiquement poétique sur un écran ! Merci.
Thank you!
I MUST SAY...THIS IS VERY VERY VEERRRRYY RELAXING.......I live in NYC and this right here...I CAN DIG IT!!!!😎😎😎🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊
Thank you. Glad you enjoy it!
In the UK, a few snowflakes brings the whole network to a halt, as does rain, wind, sun, leaves...
same in germany
No it doesn't. Stop exaggerating
lol facts
In the UK almost anything stops the trains. Snow, rain, slugs, lunar phases, unexploded farts...
burps, barfs ...
Truly peaceful, apart from the donkeys, I mean train horns. Lol
¡QUE PERICIA DEL MAQUINISTA!, IBA DE MEMORIA YA QUE LAS LINEAS NO SE VEN EN MUCHOS TRAMOS, Y ESE BELLO SOL, TAN GRANDE.... ME ENCANTO TODO, ¡GRACIAS!.
looks weird going over snow seeing no tracks or prints visible of any kind
Try it.
Good taste.
If you live in america then move to alaska. No need to add more non norwegians to their country
Oh look, a comments section, Been wanting to say something ever since I started watching. Awesomely Beautiful Videos!
Thank you! Glad you like them! 😃
Amacf
we enjoyed this wonderful journey in norway . takk skal du ha .
Glad you enjoyed it, tusen takk!
Never saw train journey from this vantage point. Many thanks!!
I just genuinly love Norway (And trains)
Over 5.5 years since I first saw this video and it still thrills me to go from some rain in Bergen to a guy shovelling snow off the front of the loco. Stunning.
Hehe, glad you enjoy it :) Thanks!
You can adjust the speed of the train by changing the video playback speed. :)
Thanks genius.
@@wind-solar thank you for thy pleasant reply. Indeed I am a genius, dear friend and gardener.
Now I'm sad that it only goes up to 2x speed.
Good point, but not the velocity, just the speed. To change the velocity you would need to change the direction the train is going.
@@ericromano4028 For next time, you can download the youtube video using whatever method you can find on google, then play it in VLC or really any media player you have on your computer and ramp up the playback speed using that program. Cheers
Wonderful images!
So cold everything goes to Black & White
Thank you for showing us your world!
B-)
Besides being hypnotizing, it makes you think at the amount of work and effort necessary in order to build this railroad...
The stop is till there and the hostel is still active :D
Reaches my lost emotions. ..a breathtaking video, thank you.
Those long tunnel bits are so relaxing. The combination of dim light and deep humming sound
I've never that beauty of nature. I've naver been to Norway too. Thank you for this video. This help me to watch this beautiful view of there. Thanks a lot
The wheel slip we hear, sounds like it makes the journey of these sections fun.
This feels surprisingly freeing. The speed in such conditions is amazing
Thank you for watching!
This is the 3rd time watching this one for me, it’s great for insomnia, it’s so relaxing & enjoyable & I find it impossible to think of anything else while watching. Thank you.
Whew, breathtaking!
I love how the snow gets deeper with higher elevation , great lesson here in meteorology and geography, many thanks, subbed !
Those go into the light moments coming out of the tunnels are something else.
13:44 starting rails disappearing covered by snow
55:17 storm getting worse - 59:04 after tunnels
1:06:00 snow plowing train
1:09:51 sun shining? or UFO
1:21:51 weather looks better than before. Scenery lovely.
1:34:20 Paraski (Parachute Ski) guy on right flat spot.
1:55:28 Norway!
That's actually a kitesurfer :)
The literal Snowpiercer! 😂
Fascinating video, beautiful country.
Greetings from England! 🏴😊✌🏼
Thanks a lot, glad you enjoyed it :)
Didn't even know I was into this kind of stuff
once u get hooked on trains theres no going back
Puts me in mind of my past herding freight trucks thru the snow
That’s what she said
I feel the same way. I just discovered this last night. I'm only a few minutes in and am now questioning my whole life.
This is the GOOD side to technology and I love it. An amazing journey, rhank you! ❤
I have been watching so many of the Norway runs that I am starting to become as familiar with the topography as a native Norwegian.
Reminds me of my job as a driver with a rail testing company in Wyoming and Montana one winter. Not as many tunnels but a lot of snow and subzero days.
Surreal; I cannot stop watching...from Brooklyn NYC USA...thank you...
Ever just felt like a place was your true home even though you’ve never been there?
12345678901234567890 12345678901234567890 you know it.
Winnipeg.
I live in Australia. Six years ago I flew into Bergen. Looked around and realised I'd come home.
I’m disabled and in poverty so it’s not really an option for me, but I feel like my soul belongs in a place like this.
Thanx for amazing upload.
I just finished a 2 hour long walk on my walking machine in 34C heat. This video didn’t only keep me cool, but also put me in trance, so I walked and walked with no concept of time. I have never walked this long time. Not only was it good physically, but my mind got it’s fair share of wellbeing as well.
Wow, I feel good now, relaxing with an ice cold beer😎. Important to rehydrate 😁
This kind of vids will be my partner on my walking sessions. I can recommend this.
WOW! You go, Chuck! So glad my video is so captivating! ❤️
по снегу вообще необычно как будто летишь по белому коридору. Здорово получилось. Спасибо.
That was one wild ride! I've seen some of this, but never with such brutal weather. I don't doubt the safety for a moment, but it's also nice to be able to "ride" it at home. Thank you.
I wish I could have shown this to my Dad. He passed away last year. I'm pretty sure he would have loved it.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
I have been on this train ride many times but, have never seen it from the drivers viewing. Fantastic to see.
welcome to the norwegian montain range where the Golf stream meets the montains
Cool job to have. Beautiful country.
Paul Moss I think I would fall asleep during the job. Such a nice huuuummmmm.
Nice horn as well
You have to continually prove to the system that you are awake, or alive, by regularly pressing a button. If you don't, the train will automatically stop.
I grew up in a small town and I loved the sound of the train that went through it. I discovered your channel Thanksgiving night. A perfect ending to the day.
Awesome! Thank you!
It's certainly great fun to take a train through such a beautiful landscape and through the snow. :)
Brings me back to the days on Grand Trunk Western. Different scenery but winter on 427 and 428 Detroit to Battle Creek Mich.
Never ever experienced such a lot of snow on any Railway track at any video. So beautifull to watch the surounding landscape and those tiny little homes in the middle of now where!
When the train passes by the "Snow Blower Engine" at 1:06:00 it looks like it has a face from the Thomas Tank Engine childrens show LOL!
I wished people would put more of this type of video's out there. I really enjoyed this. Thank you. I watched all I had time to.
