519 Kustomz freshly acquired 2022 Tesla Model Y EV donor vehicle introduction. Plan is to get right into the 4680 battery cells to see what we can learn,
Have you considered fabricating the frame from aluminium? The original Tesla ‘frame’ is aluminium, of course the body is too. I really want to build a custom SUV out of a Tesla using all aluminium but I know alu fabrication is a specialized skill…
@@519Kustomz I will say that is a BEAUTIFUL frame! I’m used to the old ‘kit car’ days of cut and splicing 2x4” tubing! The good welders did a spectacular job, the bad ones were unsafe and pathetic…
Tesla the Ford Galaxy you did did you use the complete model 3 pack with no modifications ? and is the new project is way smaller that you can't use the model Y pack complete ?
Im just finishing a video on the next project. It uses a chopped down model 3 pack, the video will explain it. These 4680 cells are for the project after this one.
Do you think 4680 is a game changer? means does it reduce battery pack size and weight drastically (or at least significantly). how can the buyer make sure if they get 4680 in the Tesla Model 3 they buy? is it that 4680 is only for Model Y and not Model 3? Thanks.
I wouldn't call it a game changer, It is much more of a manufacturing refinement. Currently the 4680 is only available in the Model Y, and it needs to be manufactured in Texas. Also I believe it needs to have the Model Y AWD designation. The Model Y dual motor is the 2170 pack. I think they needed the new AWD name because the Gross Vehicle Weight is different, but I don t remember the actually sticker weight. The GVW is likely the easiest tell tale sign it has the 4680
Adding comment here to improve algorithms. Cool content!
I'll take all the help I can get. Thanks!!

Yeah it was a consideration. The cost is really what was the deciding factor. It would be possible for sure.

@@519Kustomz would it make more sense for you to create a custom enclosure for that product instead of chopping down a M3 pack?
