@@TheTinkeringCatdad as did I, simple mods like a rewire brought my Spectrum up to 120FPS on AAs, pump kits turned my Aeon into the "Nexus Bro", and the Nexus is just peak Springer on a dime~
Hey man I’m looking at drac’s trigger and grip handle how do they feel to you? I have the breach set from worker installed and plan on getting the other half of the set. Kinda waiting to see someone review it before hand though.
The grip is fantastic. Great for bigger hands. Definitely something that you want to attach last, as I consider it to be a semi-permanent mod. The trigger is a different matter. It looks great, but I didn't feel like it was a "must-have" mod. I haven't tinkered with the Worker kit for the Nexus Pro, but I've read chatter about it not playing nice with the Worker metal catch.
@@TheTinkeringCatdad Ah so the metal catch might be a no go. I pretty much got the metal breach set more for the look anyway. As long as it doesn’t ruin anything I’ll get the drac trigger and grip then. I accidentally damaged the worker kit pusher tip but fixed it by filing it down. Actually ended up fixing the sealing issue in the breach that way and now mine has a perfect seal.
Nice video! How hard was it to re-assemble the blaster? I plan on eventually getting one and painting it, I just don't want to have to take the barrel and firing system out, only to find that I can't get it back in, or worse, get it in incorrectly and break it upon firing.
It's really easy to reassemble! Tearing down a blaster to paint its shell is always a good idea. You don't want to risk paint getting inside and gumming up the internal moving parts. This particular model is a great one for painting. The barrel, breech, and plunger can be lifted out as one unit, so there's less risk of any mishaps. Has an easily removable spring too. Tip: Take a picture of the insides when you first open the shell. Use it for reference later during reassembly. I do it with a lot of my builds. Might be days or weeks before I reassemble them, so having a memory refresher is nice.
@@TheTinkeringCatdad Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely take pictures and video of myself taking it apart to make sure that I can get it back together correctly. I've noticed the internals seem a lot simpler than a nerf gun, I once had to take one apart to clear a really bad jam, and it took quite some time to get it back together.
@@TypingWithIsaac Yup! 😂 Nerf sometimes makes their blasters unnecessarily complicated. Some of the Rival ones are just a pain to reassemble. Adventure Force/Dart Zone blasters definitely tend to be a bit easier to teardown and put back together. Good luck with your project! If you run into any issues, feel free to ask!
@@TheTinkeringCatdad Hi! I got my nexus a few weeks ago and and in the middle of painting it. I have matte grey Rustoleum 2x paint as the primary color, and it applies really well. The problem is the detailing paint, which is apple barrel acrylic water based paint. It won't apply to the Rustoleum, it just sort of gets pushed around by the brushes instead of sticking. I'm thinking of going with some paint markers instead, specifically a sharpie oil based paint marker, and then getting a similar shade of spray paint to get some of the larger areas I want to paint in that color done a bit faster. Will the oil marker work, or is there something else I should be using? ( I prefer not using citadel paints, even though most people suggest them. From what I've heard, they're not all that durable and are pretty expensive for what you get.)
I'm not gonna lie; I like Citadel. They're my go-to paints for detailing. I've had a lot of good luck over the years with Testors enamel paints as well. Oil paint pens are a good option for detailing too! I've used a chrome pen and a Krylon gold leaf pen on some of my projects. My best advice is to test whatever paint/pen you plan on using first. I usually use a spare plastic part off an old blaster project that I can quickly spray paint and test my layers with. If I don't have a spare part, I use a decent sized rock. Depending on the paints that you're using, it could take several layers to get the color that you want. Don't be afraid to go over it twice or thrice. Just be patient and let the paint set between layers. Finally, use a good topcoat. Any paint job will chip and rub off eventually, especially with use. A decent topcoat will help it last a bit longer and protect it against the average bumps and touches.
Hi, does anyone know what type of spray paint he is using for the main body? I would love to try it for some cool projects! Btw, that nexus looks freakin’ awesome, just like the DZP MK2!
Glad you like them! I used Krylon Fusion All-in-One Gloss Black as the base layer and Rust-Oleum Imagine Color Shift Purple Sunrise for the main layer. I've experimented with alternative base colors, but gloss black works best.
@@TheTinkeringCatdad hey I don’t mean to sound so stupid, but i want to paint my nexus pro, and I was wondering if this paint will rub off like normal spray paint or anything like thay
That's a valid question! In my experience, any spray paint applied to a blaster will rub off eventually. I put a lot of time into sanding my blasters before I paint them so that the paint will adhere to the plastic better. A good durable topcoat can also help keep paint from rubbing off. These are still just layers of paint on top of plastic though. Any hard enough impact will chip or scratch through those layers.
No, not a spring-powered blaster like this one. You'd probably have to look at a HPA blaster, like the MILSIG M79, to get something full or semi-auto in this form factor.
🤣 I have soooo many memories of hearing those bells and knowing that Sephiroth was about to come wreck my day... Thanks for watching! Glad you liked it!
Not by much, as memory serves. I try to use optics that have some kind of quick release mechanism, so there's no sliding over paint. The Nexus Pro buffer tube is slightly smaller than mil-spec. Most stocks slide on and off easily. Getting the sling point ring on was a bit harder with the paint. Later on, I also added the Worker aluminum pic rail to the front end. The paint made it a challenge, but not impossible.
😂 Not late at all! I used a chrome paint pen. Felt like cheating at the time. Never used them before. Molotow Liquid Chrome Marker Set - 1mm, 2mm and 4mm a.co/d/1zJmnhm
I prefer Slug's Pyrangle grips for my main springers. This particular Caduceus grip was a unique print by Drac. Objectively, it's pretty comfortable for pump priming.
