My daughter went to Montana State to learn to be a farrier. One of her side jobs was helping to take care of Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner's horses. Then she managed a ranch with 100 rescued race horses. Now I have farrier equipment in my garage and I finally understand how it works. Thanks!

So where my horse is currently at I CANNOT get a ferrier out to trim. This video was SUPER helpful and now i know what points to look for in the trim so i dont over do it and I can diagnose any problems with their feet because all 3 are rescues from formerly abusive homes.

Those who don't then the horse don't know you and could be a little apprehensive to what the ferrier want. The horse always goes first and a slight cuddle with it first helps a really long way and especially to the next time because the horse will absolutely remember you as the good person then.

No, brother I'm not a Catholic. If you would send me your email address I'll tell you why. What I tell you comes straight out of the Bible which was written by the twelve Apostles of Christ. The Holy Spirit Baptized the Apostles with cloves of fire above their heads and gave them the word of God, they preached and wrote down the word and it is where our bible came from. History says Christians were burned at the stake because the Romans didn't want the true word of God to be printed but it was printed just the same. The bible tells us what we must do to be saved. It also tells not to add thing to the word of God or leave any of it out. If we leave any of Gods word our he will leave us out of the Book Of Life. Rev.22/19 .Catholic's have added so many things to God word and also left out things they didn't like. Did you know the Pope is over every Catholic Church in the world and when he die's they just appoint another Pope. The true word of God tell us Jesus Christ is over all things concerning the Church which is his Body. Christ Church isn't a building, it is made up of Christians that have believed and obeyed God word and were Baptized into the Body of Christ. I doubt it you will find that verse in a Catholic Bible but you will find it in Ephes. 1/22-23 in the KJV Bible. I will send you some information concerning the true word of God if you want to read it. Does the numbers of members of the Catholic Church sound like a few people to you. The God said only 8 souls were saved when God destroyed the world by water and only a few will be saved this time when it is destroyed by fire. jamesmcqueen1933@gmail.com

    • @someman7
      @someman7 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@jamesmcqueen6038 Hey, can you say what your biggest gripe is with the Church? You've brought up a lot of things, and I would like to address a lot of those but we'd have to do it one by one. So could we please focus on something you find most important first and see if what you were taught by Protestants about what the Bible and Catholics believe can really be confirmed or not? I mean you should hear the other side, right? I'll see if I can help you with that, as I've heard a lot of Protestant arguments, and read and came up with counter-arguments as well. Peace be with you
P.S. I do want to address one thing right now though. We have the same Bible, except the Protestant one is missing 7 books of the old testament that Luther delegated to "apocrypha"[sic] in the 16th century, and then others took it out as uninspired despite it being used by the Church and mentioned as a part of the Bible in a non-authoritative 4th century council. So of course we have and believe that Jesus' is the head of the Church and we do understand it to be His mystical body. We just believe that the Christ gave the "some apostles, and some prophets, and other some evangelists, and other some pastors and doctors. For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ" as 4:11-12 of the same Epistle says.

The 7 books your talking about were written under the old laws, we don't live under the old laws anymore. if we did we would have to kill animals to have our sins removed, we would have to stone people to death for working on the Sabbath day. God sent us a New laws to live under and obey. He send it by his Son Jesus that came to earth and Gods word became flash. When Christ was nailed to the cross the old laws were done away with. We now are told to worship on the first day of the week, to come to gather on the first day of the week and break bread to remember Christ died for our sins so we want have to kill animals to have our sins removed . No where in the New Testament are we told to kill our animals to have our sins removed. We are told to be Baptized for the remission of our sins and we will receive the Holy Ghost from God as a comforter that will live inside us to remind-us of the things Christ said. We are also added to the Body of Christ when we are baptized into his Body. We can't get to God unless we go through Jesus Christ first. God put his Son over all things concerning the Church which is this Body. Ephes 1/22-23. Jesus is not over the Catholic Churches the Pope is and he is a earth man just like me with no more power than I have to save anyone. When he dies they just appoint another Pope. Jesus Christ has died once and lives again and is over the one and only Church which is his Body, it is not a building. People Call the Church of Christ a cult because it follows and obeys the true word of God, God tells us to be baptized so we are baptized, he tells us to break bread upon the first day of the week and we do that also, We don't use musical instruments, we sing making melody in our heart just like the bible says. No where in the new Testament are we told to use music instruments. We go to Church to hear the word of God not for entertainment. We don't add things to the word of God and we don't leave any of his word out. Rev. 22/19 says if we leave any of his word out he will leave us out of the Book of life. Ephes. 4/5-6 there is only one Body, one faith , one Baptism not two or three. I don't expect you to agree with me because you were raised a Catholic from a baby. I Understand Catholics sign a paper that they will raise their children Catholics. There's not anything in the KJV bibles that tell us to do that. Also all the smoke they put over things and speak in Latin happens to be things the Catholic's churches have added. God didn't tell us to do those things ether. NO harm done Brother I love you as a brother and will pray for the both of us. God Bless You. Drop me an email sometimes jamesmcqueen1933@gmail.com

A note to trainers and owners: 1) when looking to buy, make the hoof shape and quality part of the selection process, and 2) make sure you do a trot out, either on the barn aisleway or other close hard surface before the farrier leaves so a hot nail or a quick can be spotted and fixed, while on the premises!

Don't forget to mention biotin supplements. Had my horses on them for 20+ yrs plus good foot management practices; e.g., daily hoof cleaning and lube of coronary band, plus on my horses, resets at 5-6 weeks). It's easy just focusing on riding, but the rest of the stuff daily leg, hoof inspection, body scan, gives you the edge on knowing what's normal and what's not!!

Loving the videos! Learning a ton being newer to the farrier world. Do you always place hoof packing under a pad?

I'm going to add my bit to Kat King below - you are an equine hero! Even the best farriers over here in the U.K. drop the horse's feet without much warning - if you complain, they say "get someone else, as I'm not going to lift 10 x 4 feet every day." How's your back? Do you think you might change your mind in a few years' time?
Of course, I realise that you were making a video during this shoeing and some of the prep was already done but you put in a fantastic amount of adjustment work until you were happy - excellent stuff! Liked the gouge work to seat the clenches (that's what we call the nails after they've been clipped and folded ) very neat - I've seen feet over here that look like Swiss cheese! The only thing I'd caution is your method of hitching - I'll have to take into account that you're in America and look like a cowboy - we more or less universally use thinned down baler twine as a shear point between any rope or standing ring so the horse can really break away any time it likes but few do. It's mostly as you say - they only react if they've had bad experiences and are settled if there's other horses to look at. (I had a hands on nasty experience of a horse crashing down due to being pressurised into box loading - everybody in the yard, the "experts" that caused the problem were the fastest to leave - left it to me to sort out the poor animal who was thrashing on a concrete floor and the loading ramp. Touch and go for a while but both the horse and I escaped without injury.
Did that little mare come to you from a veterinarian referral or just the owners? I ask this as the two radical growth lines in both hooves look suspiciously like a bout of laminitis - especially as your x-ray revealed a partially dropped pedal bone.

I just watched this on youtube on my tv. Had to get on my phone so I could express my gratitude and how impressed I am! I have seen a lot of run of the mill farriers but you are incredible. Not just your work that is more than impressive but, more importantly, how you treat the horse! When I saw the way you were considerate and set the horses foot down, not just dropping it, I nearly cried. You just seem to be a good person! Thank you for not making me cringe while watching! I am not able to ride now so horses are no longer in my life but watching shows like this helps me go back in time. I was always present when my horse had anything done, farrier, floating etc. thank you again.

Another trick, Mr. Olsen, if you have an older horse with arthritis in its hocks, my CJF uses a Mylar Hammer to hammer the nails in. It's strong enough to nail the nails in, but soft enough that it doesn't send a lot of concussiive force up the leg, like a metal hammer does. It's just something to keep in mind for sensitive horses that react to the metal hammer driving the nails in. Your friend, the Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦

..she's got that fever ring and that "tell tale" brusing on the wrong...she sank, but "what from" is something everyone should be asking---just the one foot...very strange..but a "founder' never the less..

Do shoes and leather pad retard the, full work of the frog? I know very little about this business. I am a knife sharpener and welder by trade.

That was a very impressive video! Thanks for the education. When you say, "thin-walled," is that a permanent condition of the hoof? Or is it a symptom of over-trimming that has the potential to grow back?

Thank you for taking such loving care of your horses. I was watching another vlog (from another country and another culture) working with donkeys’ hooves and they kept yelling at and whipping the poor animals. I won’t watch that vlog again!

I wouldn't worry about the shoe nails rusting or breaking down, they aren't in there long enough to really make much difference. Also, I didn't see you relieve the white line pressure before nailing on the shoe, if you don't, then you can actually cause discomfort, you don't have to really remove much of the sole on the horse its mainly to keep the white line from contacting the shoe or pad. Not really criticism since we all have our different ways of doing things, but its a tip I picked up from someone who had been in the business for almost 30 years.

Don't know a thing about horses or their feet, but I can tell when someone knows and cares about what they're doing. This video was very interesting and informative.

Very nice wirk. Knowledge that helps the horse's need with caution. So little distance between helping and harming. You are kind to the horses, treats, pats, pitting the foot down gently, etc. Makes a good experience for the horse now and less angst in future.

this horse got the shoe job deal with all the works..no skimping on the detailing. good job! My grandad used to do his own horseshoeing. i always had to watch from behind the stall wall. when i was young didn't understand why. one day i watched him shoeing the back hoof of one horse and learned real fast how dangerous a horse's kick can be. Grandad went to the hospital with a broken nose. what was most curious later was seeing their bond was just as strong as before the kick. Grandad was mature enough to admit he effed up by not paying attention to the horse's mood with that same hoof being a bad one. he admitted he should have had a farrier do this specific shoe but the local was out of town and this horse needed immediate attention. Grandad finished the shoeing before he saw a doctor himself a day later. work animals before yourself eh. the humorous part of this was watching the horse stand there swishing its tail and eating oats like nothing had happened as Grandad finished shoeing the horse knowing the kick was his fault and chuckling to himself.
