  • As a small business owner this video means a lot to us, a lot of our good friends are owners of Mopar franchise dealers in small towns. FCA doesn’t want these small dealers, they want big dealers off freeways that sell tons of cars that are all cookie cutter and all look the same. Give us unique and special every time. They do not care about the little guys and this is what this video is about. This is an appreciation of the little guy trying to stay alive in an environment that does not want them to.
We tour a dealer in Kansas and find lots of goodies. Also we get to see his Lil Red Express, 1969 340 Cuda, and M37 tow truck.

I miss living in Hays, KS! Then in Schoenchen, KS, a town of barely 200 people. It was perfect.

Reminds me of the dealership I worked at while in high school they were a dealership from 1936 until they took their franchise away in 2009

A lot of good dealers got the shaft in 2009, was a great excuse for Chrysler to close down a bunch of dealers they didn’t want with no repercussions.

In the 80's when I was 14 I got a job at a local Chrysler dealer as their car washer and general helper..The parts room was loaded with great old stuff even then I was a car guy(okay kid) and loved those old signs, oil cans, car parts...It also helped that 3 of the mechanics were hard core drag racers and had tons of Hemi and 440's all over the shop, they built a newer add on in the 70's and kept the 1940's shop for their personal rides...
That Chrysler dealer was in business since the 1930's and still is today they still have their original sales office, shop etc..Town of about 30,000 so that helps also not that far from larger areas.

I know two people who sold their dealership franchises to megagroups. BIG check.

Big reason why these places are disappearing

In my area the last 15 years most dealers in my area are owned by the same 4 groups..Doesn't matter the brand they buy them all, even used car dealers they gobble up..Making it harder for the little guy to buy cars at the auctions as they can afford to jack the price up to run us out of business..

When my gruncle died they crushed everything behind the dealership, including a 53 Plymouth my grandfather had been storing there. There was a D-500 in that yard. 🤬
