Is This The Most Desirable 1971 Plymouth C-Body? GC8 Mood Indigo Purple 71 Sport Fury GT!
In this video I get to meet my hero and it's great. The featured car here is a super special car that not many people know about, a 1971 Plymouth Sport Fury GT. These were true full size muscle cars with a U-Code 440 engine and all the fun handling stuff. Have known about this car since high school (a long time ago) and the owner was super awesome and let me document the car. They only made 375 71 Sport Fury GT's but what makes this one special is the paint. For some reason GC8 Mood Indigo paint is one of the rarest colors for 1971 Plymouth Fury's (and it was only available on the Fury model). This is the only know GT in this color and it is just a fantastic color. The owner unfortunately just lost her husband recently and is going to get this car restored. I had a fender here she needed for the car and I delivered it up to her. They say to never meet your heros, that you will be disappointed. This is a case where I have been trying to track down this car since high school and finally got to see it up close and personal.

In this video we share a story that is near to our heart and honestly what keeps us going in this hobby. A friend of ours sent us a text last week that they found a Mopar 727 transmission and he thinks it came out of an A12 car. What Are The Differences Between A 1970 Plymouth Road Runner And A Superbird?

In this video we show you the differences between a 1970 Plymouth Superbird and a 1970 Plymouth Road Runner. The Superbird is based of a Road Runner but to modify the car to go 200 MPH on the high banks NASCAR Plymouth did a lot of little changes that are hard to see and some that are easy. Obviously the wing and nose are in your face but the A-Pillar chrome moldings, the rear window plug and t...

Thank you Tom for sharing my car, Brad would have enjoyed reading all the comments . As mentioned I'm trying to find someone that would be willing to come to my shop to do some body work. Someone that can weld in the patch panels and do a good job. I don't want to send it off to a shop where it's going to sit in the back for 10 to 20 years. If anyone in the greater Seattle area is really good at patch panels, hit me up . I have two or three welders and a plasma cutter, some torches. And a paint booth.

Even did a hounds tooth headliner. 😂 Ew1 and F8 interior. 6 pass 383 hd727 and upgraded rear 83/4 center section with Yukon case fordge yoke for 440 and helical Eaton unit. Super quiet smooth. I used to buy Aspens and Volares at the Oregon State Surplus Fleet auctions. They had thousands of them in their motor pool. They’d run them up to 100,000 miles then sell them. I’d buy them for around 800 dollars and clean them up and sell them for 15-17 hundred. I kept two of them as my daily’s for over ten years, getting both of them up to nearly 300,000 miles before they were completely wore out. About ten years ago I bought a very nice 77 Aspen for 1750 dollars off of eBay out of Southern California with 28,000 miles on it. I flew down and drove it 1000 miles back to Portland Oregon and it ran great the whole way. Hemmings published my story of that car with some nice pictures.

I had a 69 Fury III that had the fully ribbed front drums, made it a real pain to put aftermarket wheels on that car.

Tom, I had a 1970 Sport Fury GT. My '71 had factory Exhaust Tips similar to a Challenger. In hindsight, it was a VERY cool car.... Mine had the 'Gator Grain' Vinyl Top. .

Since I've started watching your channel I constantly catch myself eyeing the background stuff thinking that I'd love to wander through your shop looking around. This vid scratched that itch. Thanks. I don't think you're a hoarder, I think you're a fully committed Mopar expert!! Oh, and Jamie is gonna organize your parts stash? I've seen the video of his shop from when he closed it down...good luck with that. LOL

Mechanic at work had a 71 Fury in the late 80's. Wasn't a GT. It was a good looking car that really ran. His daily driver. I don't recall ever seeing a GT before. Especially that light package. A treat to see.

GT’s are super rare, you never see them.

Maybe people like my videos? I traveled a couple hours to drop off that fender and visit the owner.

Marvin Hughes in Florida had one just like it. He was a big time hemi collector in the 80s.

Marvin was a pretty legendary collector and had some serious cars. He had a vintage NASCAR chassis l, Van Diver car, that was an awesome survivor.

I like the look of the '70 Sport Fury (GT)👍

They are a really great design. The hide a ways make all the difference. The non hide a way 70's don't look as good. The bulge hood looks great too.

@@rocketresto Totally agree. My uncle had a '70 medium metallic green (F8?) with a green vinyl roof and interior. What a nice car it was, and wickedly fast.

Older American here. Back in the 70's I had a well equipped 1970 Chrysler 300, 4 door, with the 440 engine. It was a fantastic car to drive. It was massive. I used to drive it from upstate New York to North Carolina, in a single day, at the beginning & end of each semester. There was nothing like the growl of that big 440 on the highway.

      They fly on the highway.
