Something i've been wanting to do for a long time, and thanks to some scripts I made to assist me, is now easily possible! Get some ham and a frying pan on your computer because it makes a very effective stove while running all 16 instances of supermodel 3 :)
Haven't seen anyone else attempt this yet and it does indeed seem the game officially supports 16 players! Just wonder if anyone has been mad enough to actually buy 16 cabinets though. Game runs at about 30fps (half speed) on my 8 core cpu (and keeps it pinned at 100% too). This isn't possible with the old netboard emulation and only works with the new simulated netboard (the old one can support 12 players, after that it falls apart completely, not to mention the worse performance) - เกม

well. I've tried playing online with a friend using radmin VPN, and it kinda worked.
we did have a major freeze and some lag, but in the end we did manage to finish the beginner race course.
it was really fun. its just a little anoying to set up with all the ports. (not to mention windows firewall blocking the emulator. we had to use allow an app through windows firewall or something because my friends emulator was just blocked, even when we allowed it with the windows firewall popup. fixing the firewall problem took 30 minutes. windows moment 😩)
Can you imagine an arcade that has 16 Daytona USA 2 arcade machines? That would be crazy.
16 player? holy moly, thats amazing.
i hope sega one day release daytona 2 on console or pc and add battle royal mode, i would pay for that

I have a fresh rig with an i7 10th gen with loads of ram and a 3060 ti wonder if I could get all 16 players at 60 fps
This was running on an i7 7820x and a 1080, I think it was mainly CPU bound. Worth a try though.
Very cool! My 10 year old i5 starts to slow down once I'm up to 4... Quick question for you: How do you get all your Supermodel windows to open up in the right place like that? I normally have to faff about with the options in the task bar once it's actually started to get them to display side-by-side.

@@MrThunderwing I had no clue this video had so many comments only found this just now going through my old videos haha 😅, I made a little script that sets up the configuration files for supermodel network wise, then starts each instance calculating where they should go based on the screen width and window width, the only thing it cant do is change the machine numbers in the nvram as I believe sega checksums it and I dont know where the checksum resides.

although you might be the first playing the game with 16 players, i actually am the first person on TH-cam Playing the game with 4 player simulated netboard, although i did use 4 computers to make it work. (using a ring network over a star network is weird man, especially that you have to specify all the ports and IP addresses or else it won't work. and then you have windows firewall sometimes blocking the emulator, even when you allow it, and then you troubleshoot for like another 30 minutes until you figure it out)
i'm gonna try and make a 6 or 8 player setup in the future, but Imma use linux for the majority of computers. because apparently it's not extremely hard to compile the emulator from source and making it work on Ubuntu. and although it works you have to manually download all shared libraries tho. no idea why, but at least it works. (yes, i used 1 pc with Ubuntu and another with Windows 10 and they both successfully connected with one another. and the emulators didn't even have the same SVN build, lol)

Hey I did this today on my ryzen 5900x and rtx 3070 and all 16 ran full speed!! Now I just need 15 friends xD

it's probably very high. i think all of those emulators are running locally on the system, as where i used multiple computers.
Apologies for the late response, i7 7820x + GTX 1080, its mainly cpu bound though
