- I decided this was a fun early challenge to do. As soon as I found this guy at the start and it let me try until I won, I just had to beat him before moving on. I don't know if I'll make many elden ring videos, I'm not sure yet if there will be challenge ideas I find fun.

This is my first time playing a souls game, so I saw him and thought hey its a training enemy, I was so wrong.
It’s my first time playing a souls game and I genuinely believed there was a chance he would be friendly. He proceeded to kill me in 2 seconds. I’m at the final boss now and I can definitely say this game has been one hell of an experience
Same I was a samurai and I got destroyed by the tree sentinel in seconds
In a way he is a "training" enemy. He trains you to be more careful, read attack patterns. Kind of like how they throw this real aggressive dude right out the gate. He was a fun sparring partner. And now, I've surpassed him.
@@elliotmcmanamy2119 My first souls game too and I'm using him as a test of sorts for when I'm ready to enter the castle. I'll get some new equipment some upgrades etc. Then I challenge him again to see how well I'm getting.
I never even thought about blocking his blows cause I thought it would be useless
When I fight this boss, he does constant insane combos and doesn't stand around waiting for me to hit him 5 times in a row.

Deadass. I try to find some tutorials on TH-cam but they get some lazy boss that just stares at them. But when I try he goes ham and doesn’t give you a break.
Sometimes you can alter the IA decision making depending in the gap you create. For exemple, when the tree sentinel horse put his legs ups go as far back as possible and he should follow with his charge. Another one is when he poke his spear down, you roll in his direction and it’s basically 3-4 free hit until he just gets out of there because he doesn’t know what to do.

I know I'm 6 months late, but the weapon art on that sword absolutely shreds him.
Square off is ridiculously good. Does great damage and stance breaks enemies extremely fast. Usually 2-3 square offs in a row will stance break a boss.
i thought im "bad to ok" in this game...after seeing this videos i have to reconsider. i fucking suck in this game

I just rode around on my steed and chipped dmg every time he attacked for 10 minutes

You make it look easy. It's my 1st time ever playing one of these games and I'm pretty sure I'm way stronger than you are. this dude kicks my ass....... But I'm working on it the game play to me is just very very slow/sluggish. Most other games do what you want the moment you press the button. This does not. It's taking me some time to get used to it but I am.

I know everything fells kinda delayed but eventually you’ll get used to it
Make sure your character has a lighter load or at least medium to dodge and move faster
Are you playin on a old gen console? Because this is also my first soulslike game and I find it very satisfying the way you can time you’re dodge perfectly with little to no delay

I did this too once or twice, it's a fun challenge once you've gotten okay at the game and know his moves!
This was also the first thing I did when I started playing but it took me like 5 hours of attempts to beat him😂 I also somehow missed the tutorial cave so I didn’t know what I was doing at all
Unreal dedication 😂 this is what it means to be a souls player I guess. This is my first souls game and I'm playing it right now, I had to skip the sentinel because after 30 minutes I thought there's no way I can improve enough to beat it yet
Heavily respect the patience and persistence I'm sure killing him was an unreal feeling
@@nebula8893yeah lmao I was so happy when I killed him and used his Golden Halberd for my entire playthrough. I’m sure you’ll learn that patience though since there are plenty of really hard bosses that take forever to beat😂

You don’t need the halberd unless you want to fight on horses
That halberd is a great strength weapon. Has a lot of damage.

I went into the church and turned around and he was right there. I ran outside and ran along side the wall and he swung from the other side and his axe thing glitched through the wall and killed me
I bought this game thinking, can't be that hard. I got swept beyond belief by this guy.
I figured out a way to cheat kind of and beat this guy no problem I got on my horse and I constantly keep running around him on his RIGHT side and kept to his right side touching him the whole time which makes him not able to hit you and just keep swinging your sword it’s kind of a cheap way to beat him but if you wanna get him out the way that’s the easy way to do it

The armor and shield make no difference. That’s why I did it naked wielding only my sword
is this on easy or normal? i swear some of the hits he catches me with don't hit you.

Damn, I keep just trying to poke him to death with my halberd hit and run style. I can dodge all of his moves in isolation for days but finding windows to get hits in feels really really hard, especially since he can chain a long combo of 4+ consecutive hits out of a standard attack that usually only has 2 unless you manage to roll behind him, sometimes it's hard to tell when it's safe to get a hit in and misjudging can lead to missing a chance and being stuck on the defensive for ages till another fresh window appears or getting shredded by a follow-up you weren't expecting. I haven't tried sword and shield, should probably give it a go.
Can you parry this guy at the start of the game? Cuz when I parry I still take dmg and the man continues his combo, I can block but that ain't fun
He does have some parryable moves. there are like 2 moves you can parry. Keep trying you'll be able to beat him!! GL bro
I'm trying this as a level 5 Bandit, with the Great Knife and only ONE extra flask from my gift... This is TOUGH, the dagger's bleed is WEAK and I think he is really resistant to bleed.
Each hit from my Dagger does like 15 damage.

it's 2024, I just bought the game this morning and I already died more than a hundreds times, I ain't moving forward to the game until I beat that guy and get his weapons
Good try, the first vid I found here which has the same idea as me: actually shields like this one with 100% phy reduction is OP against Tree Sentinel: you block everything seems impossible to block without losing any HP, like 2:36 you blocked 2 heavy strikes in a roll, just using up stamina but no HP loss; and 2:55 even the shield ground bashing, which seems counter-intuitive, but you are actually safe.

Finally after four hours I beat him by clobbering him to death with my club. Man was it hard. I started with 10 vigor so a lot of his attacks 1 shot me.
Phew, the satisfaction is unmatched

I was fighting him all night and still couldn’t win lol. Kept getting stuck on the second phase.

@@Alpheus_09C Yeah that’s definitely true. The first phase is really easy for me now when I could barely hurt him before. I just got to get a handle on his shield bash and slamming move and I should be good. Unfortunately I don’t have the same build as this guy, so if I try blocking it I’m going to be taking some damage anyway. Maybe if I don’t use any of my flasks in the first phase though maybe I can win in a battle of attrition. Otherwise I just got to get good timing with my rolls because the slamming move can hit you even while your running away.

How tf does this guy make it look so easy!? I had to turn the game off. I spent my first 3hrs trying to beat this guy. I damn near might just give up entirely. I’m not good enough for this game… I’m not worthy 😕
Don't give up! You don't have to kill the Tree Sentinel right away. Most of what you encounter in the game can be left for later.
@@canoshizrocks I’m so trash. The only way I can beat a boss is to take them to their “wall” limiter on the map. They will never pass a certain mark and you can just pick them off with magic or arrows while they sit there slowly walking backwards lol I’m so ashamed of myself.
