Around the boss arena are some elevated ruins Southeast from the church. If you have an ample supply of darts/arrows/patience, you can fight the tree sentinel without it even landing a scratch on you. Be aware that the sentinel can occasionally get on the platform, so have your horse at the ready. The ruins can be seen at 6:10 for clarification.
You can also cheese him from the walls of church of Elleh. Just get on top, wait for him and fire away. He doesn’t even come near as the area is u reachable for himm
Killed him right out of starting area. Took about 4 hours between him and the dragon. I found an attack I could bait him into while I was on foot and it out him right next to me which allowed me to get 2 hits safely or 3 with a little danger. For this fight I did very little dodging. I found the most open spot I could find, then ran in one direction and then doubled back in the other direction and repeated that. Then what I did was bait his charging sweep attack. If I had a little space between him and me already and then started running in opposite direction, he would sweep attack before arriving to me and then would finish charge right in front of my character which lets me hit him 3 times. Then I just double backed and repeated this until he was dead.
@@uterotourettes15 Nah, its two mini bosses you run into early. You're most likely intended to come back to them later but i dont like giving up so easy and tried to do things the hard way.
I was level 9 when i killed him. I spend 7 hours of game just for him, and at end I read it that the best option is to avoid him till level 20-30 and now im level 25. 💀
As someone who struggles on games on easy mode, it took me 15 hours and 350+ deaths. A man who has beat tree sentinel at level 1, has expirenced something no man should ever experience. Ive seen some shit 😢
It worked well for me with timing and anticipation. There’s a window where if you start the attack animation early enough normally right before the horses head meets yours then you can hit him and be well out of range. Fight him like jousting in medieval times 🤣🤣. Idk if that made any sense
So I killed the tree sentinel within the first 2 hours in of the game. How I did it was I found out you can stand on a building right in front of the first merchant and the sentinel can’t get you. You can jump up on the corner and just shoot him with arrows. It took about 50 arrows but I killed him as the samurai and he was actually the 4th enemy I killed in the game.
This is my first souls game and I've been playing for almost a week. Its been a really cool experience so far and im proud of myself for defeating this guy in 2 tries after defeating night's calvary (i think night's calvary was way harder, took me 10 tries)
I just beat him at level 14. simply wait at the church entrance on torrent and wait for him to make his rounds towards you and then turn to go back towards the bottom of the hill. when he gets about 3/4s the way, charge torrent and charge up your strong attack. if you did it right, he will turn towards you clock wise, his right. land your blow while aiming left and hit the back of his horse or the legs. continue left until you get to the ledge, turn left and head up towards the dragons and when you get up the hill, head towards the church. he will get stuck coming that way and revert back to his patrol. repeat carefully until dead.
The rotted dog summon, worked great for me. He's extremely weak against poison that the dogs bites inflict. After that just run and he'll fall in about 2 minutes.
I fought him early game with the prophet class, I was wondering if I was really that bad at the game, because omg was that a struggle, only my Pyromace did okay damage to him and because of the starter armor literally 80% of his attacks were insta kills
Well, I might not use it for my current build since I'm going full str for my first playthrough but if I make a str/faith build in the future this bad boy will definitely be on my to get list. And halberds in souls games have always been solid
@@DeivixLV Well, I'm just going full str at the moment. I'm using the banished knight greatsword that drops from the black knights in stormveil. Well I change my shield around a bit since I just like good fashion and mostly 2 hand. I also have a crossbow since those are pretty dang handy in the left hand
Faith Str is op for this, I went with this weapon, and using the Special boost literally makes it so you chunk down bosses, the amount of Damage you deal is insane
You can actually lure him to the entrance of the starting point. Then go indoors, he can't pass the door but tries to hit you through the wall. Stay in safe distance and kill him with range attacks. Slow but save approach. If he resets, just do it again. His LP doesn't reset.
I had about a 3 hour session of trying to kill him last towards the end of my suffering I finally got his move list down to a science and then finally I killed him learning his moves and how to dodge them at the right time is crucial if you want to fight him up close
ESPECIALLY in second phase when his horse starts doing that shockwave attack. Shit comes down almost instantly and has such a ridiculous reach that the only thing you can use is the I-frames of your dodges.

as a brand new souls player, i've been loving the Vagabond with the starting halberd & shield, i found that greatsword and i've been heavily debating if it's better or not. The Halberd staggering enemys almost every single hit is so good, took me about 9 trys to kill the Tree Sentinel and got the Golden Halberd now. is it worth building towards using it? or are greatswords a better pathway? Really looking for some advice as i have no idea what i'm really supposed to build into as it's my first ever go around of a souls game let alone Elden Rings. I'd like to say so far I've tried the lighter sword you start with as well and i did not enjoy the faster speed of the weapon since it losses so much damage if that gives any hint towards my preferences. Also i've never played co-op yet nor really have plans to as idk anyone with the game and don't overly want to deal with PvPers randomly
In my personal opinion having played dark souls games a lot you should go for great swords over halberds because the movesets are better but that’s just my personal preference. Just try out both and decide which one is better
I feel weapon choice is personal preference, the only situation you would hear others would be when your choice is VERY weak. Since this is a open world i would sugest you to explore before deciding, since you will find new weapons and enemies that may change your focus in combat, you are free to change mid way.
I will advise you invest in a fast swinging weapons like a sword. Souls games require you to be agile on your feet, dodging, blocking and slashing down your enemies bit by bit
If you struggle with him even with Torrent, try a simple bow)) This weapon might be your main carry against early bosses. Just use an attack after dodge - it is super quick, so he is not able to block it.
I believe Elden is just as fun taking it slow and exploring in whatever way you want. Once you get the gist of the game you get a sense of what kind of things you want to do. I play mage because I was having a hard time learning melee. Now that I'm mid game, I'm excited to go melee when I make a new character.
It takes about 18 minutes from starting the game to do it this way, or at least that was the length of the un-edited recording. Better players can do it in much less time though, i really struggled to parry him on foot myself.
I killed the spider enemy you first encounter, I chose Confessor class, so I was able to heal, you get a great shield and a sword. He wasn’t too bad, just avoid that scream attack. And the Tree Sentinel, he was harder, I got through the first phase without too much trouble, straight out of the gate on foot, the 2nd phase was a little tougher, but you can sneak up behind him and whack him a couple times then run to cover. I think the Confessor class is one of the best classes for noobs because you can heal with magic, you get like 2 flasks worth of healing per full bar of magic. I thought the stealth spell would be cool, but have yet to use it, I hoard most of my magic for healing. I’ve played all the Souls games, so I have a bit of experience. Honestly though never finished 1 and 2 but I’m playing 1 right now on Steam Deck.
Beat him on foot...was hella hard since his hitboxes are sometimes wonky but after an hour I managed to get a hold of it...most of the time I got killed by the environment..."well" placed rock or tree is by far worse than any boss.
There were some Berry things I picked up each time I fought him (immediately after leaving start) I had 26 of then by the time I killed him. My advice for beating him out the gate is obviously be familiar with his attack pattern, and stay on his right side, (away from weapon) focus on his mount, I was using the halberd and jump attacks seemed to stagger him after 3 good hits to his mounts face. By about the 17 time mark I was kinda kicking his ass unless he managed to land a single hit then proceeded to stun lock me to death, that mount side bump attack was the cause of the majority of my deaths. By the time I beat him I had 2 out of 4 flasks left.
I just got elden ring n this dude was a great opening boss . He really taught me ifrsme dodging . I had to level up to fifteen n it took me a bunch of times to win but it was fun nonetheless.
Been playing for a few hours now and been loving it, yet I try to limit myself from fighting bosses on the horse cause like shown the in video it can be real cheap xD, so I try testing my skills on foot, died so many many times and finally got him down, I started as the samurai and the katana is real good, I dont use shields so it gives that extra pack of damage tho I do have to roll alot xD, the unsheathed ability is so dang good, The only boss in the game i truly cheesed was the first on in the tutorial, hits like a truck and you only get one chance, had to restart so many times and used the bow strategy, beat it and got that wicked weapon and sheld, this game is so amazing

How do you keep Torrent from disappearing? I tried this method but the horse keeps disappearing randomly and I have to keep re-summoning him. It's like he's afraid or they put in a soft patch to prevent this strat.
@@aftamath86 I figured it out, crouching while on the horse dismisses him. I rebound crouch to a different button I wasn't using for the fight and destroyed him.
An easy tip is to summon skeleton ashes. then mount on a horse and(if you are able to get Highland axe get it for sure) with highland axe go into war cry mode. then in the first phase try to stay on his left side(on his shield side) and try to spam with an axe. then just zone him out and strike when he will have a cooldown on his attack(I was striking on his horse's ass so he couldn't get me with his axe) and just finish him off. worked perfectly with me :D. the thing is that skeleton ashes are good that they don't die fast. when they die they resurrect if their bones did not get destroyed and wolves would be a problem because he is strong enough to finish them off with one swing, and sentinel would also have his attention on those skeletons more than on you. I got his axe on level 21. pretty pretty easy :). if this didn't work out I'm sorry but it worked perfectly for me.
Anyone still struggling with this there’s an even easier 100% garunteed way to beat the tree sentinel - use torrent to jump onto the highest wall of the church of Elleh equip a bow and 99 arrows and melt this boss without any spec or skills required he can’t attack you back or hit you and just stands and stare while you chip away and kill him

I'm Astrology I stood on the nearby square ruin, summoned wolves who got to 75%. LoS an issue so I didn't cast spells, about 20 seconds of hitting on the walls he walks away but never resets. Got a few shots in then he runs back. Took 4 flasks but no damage to me. Easy mode
My first soul game and I started fighting this boss with the first weapon on foot until I realised he's too strong. Your guide helps. I will try it today 😅
This was a great tutorial because i dont play this game but since i dont have internet its given me nothing but time and this is an awesome weapon to add to the collection as one of my first cool weapons
exactly but there is a easier way at the fight .... just wait him to drap the axe pressing run than come back and just stay rounding him pressing RB(weak attack with the dual hand long sword), memorize when he is gonna push youback with his horse and run aways again, repeat ! After te patch things are harder ! i still sugest to put everithing in strengh and make the game til the castle demands you a better weapon ! now with all the runes spended(suggest hero class) go back and fight the damn sentinel you already will have the damn 30 points strengh needed btw. there is also the parry system but it's harder to memo.

Also I'm a mage buid so I was running back and hitting him a few times. He had a magic shield that shoots magic spells back at you at random times. It's so frustrating. Thanks for the tips Danny I'm about to go murk this dude rn
Just gotta memories his moves man I beat him at the start of the game with a deprived class
@@kungfubudgie5170 yeah I see now magic is not the move lol I gave up after awhile but I'm about to go beat his ass rn. I'm trying a hybrid build. I wanna 2 hand a massive sword and have a staff for magic. Whittle them down with magic then go for the kill blows with my sword
@@tineursic9481 I finally got the bastard lol I did exactly what Danny did. Just charge my heavy attack and hit once and run. It worked finally. It felt so good beating that mf. Good job on your battle. He's not an easy boss
Best way to do it bro is attack once and the roll away your main thing is to focus on the bosses move set so you learn 🙂
2 hours ha pathetic i spent 5 hours on him and i'm still going
Actually you can use landscape to kill him easily. Go on top of the building nearby near edge grab shield and some spear and stab him in head. You must be careful cause he can jump, but if you are in higher corner he will not land on top of building. Use relief, just like sekiro
Relief?
I did it! Took about 15-20 tries and 40 or so minutes with your strategy but on my final run I took no hits to myself although my horse took two. Thanks man.
Hello. I'm here to say you that i am on my 65 try. I'm always stuck on taking his 75 percent of hp, oh god the second phase when he does that shit with shield, lord have mercy, this shit oneshots me
I beat him after I got out of the cave.
It was a pain in the ass. It was pain. At some point he was so low on hp. I literally had to hit him two times - then my game froze and crashed. I wanted to die in that moment.
Just fought him thinking I HAD to fight him lol, took like 30 tries but I beat him and it was just blocking and rolling.
Very difficult but what helped was roilling to the rightside because his sword is on the other side, once he is 50% hp you rol to the left side because he hits with his shield, and some blocking with his weird shield dive attacks.
Yeah man I knew it took me around the same, but I refused to cheese him with the horse. It was fun though, whenever I failed I knew it was my fault so I never felt cheated (although the hitboxes are a little messed up).
Beat him on horse.
Parry was extremely difficult for me.
Congrats on 2 million! Been here since 500,000, loves your guides and clear exhibit of passion to these games and your audience. Keep up the great videos!
From carrying me through Skyrim now guiding me through Elden Ring, Thank you kind sir.
What dragon😳😳😳😳
Btw It took me 3 hours Too, that damn Spell parry
Yo I that I was the only one lol I baited that same attack ez cheese lol
The bosses take 4 hours to kill in this game? wtf
@@uterotourettes15 Nah, its two mini bosses you run into early. You're most likely intended to come back to them later but i dont like giving up so easy and tried to do things the hard way.
@@UnboundTsukuyomi took way too long for me to figure out how abusable that attack was lol
I was just struggling to beat this guy this morning. And the great sword in the chest at the ruins? Totally missed that 🤦♂️ Thanks!
Epic video. My character is Astrologer. I stood on top of the wrecked building nearby and just shot him with magic pebble bullets til he died.
All the overworld bosses can be cheesed pretty easily that way. Work smarter not harder lol
This is my first souls game and I've been playing for almost a week. Its been a really cool experience so far and im proud of myself for defeating this guy in 2 tries after defeating night's calvary (i think night's calvary was way harder, took me 10 tries)
Thank you sir. Still a pleasure even after all these years.
How do you even get that though
@@beckettgalloway7155 for real
I fought him early game with the prophet class, I was wondering if I was really that bad at the game, because omg was that a struggle, only my Pyromace did okay damage to him and because of the starter armor literally 80% of his attacks were insta kills
Well, I might not use it for my current build since I'm going full str for my first playthrough but if I make a str/faith build in the future this bad boy will definitely be on my to get list. And halberds in souls games have always been solid
What weapon and class do you use?
@@DeivixLV Well, I'm just going full str at the moment. I'm using the banished knight greatsword that drops from the black knights in stormveil. Well I change my shield around a bit since I just like good fashion and mostly 2 hand.
I also have a crossbow since those are pretty dang handy in the left hand
Faith Str is op for this, I went with this weapon, and using the Special boost literally makes it so you chunk down bosses, the amount of Damage you deal is insane
His horse bump attack pops me off my horse instantly
You can actually lure him to the entrance of the starting point. Then go indoors, he can't pass the door but tries to hit you through the wall. Stay in safe distance and kill him with range attacks. Slow but save approach. If he resets, just do it again. His LP doesn't reset.
Bro he ran around and got me 😂
Beat him in 10 tries using ur method your a genius forever subbed
I had about a 3 hour session of trying to kill him last towards the end of my suffering I finally got his move list down to a science and then finally I killed him learning his moves and how to dodge them at the right time is crucial if you want to fight him up close
ESPECIALLY in second phase when his horse starts doing that shockwave attack. Shit comes down almost instantly and has such a ridiculous reach that the only thing you can use is the I-frames of your dodges.
@@venerablebrothergoriate5844 Damn i just beat him yesterday after coming out of the elevator thingy. For the second phase i just played really safe instead of going for 2 hits i went for 1, and prepared to get out of range with 2 rolls out of his shield slam attack. Took a good 3 hours
Such an awesome guide. This game leaves you lost from the get go and there is no direction of what to do and story and where to do like I never know where I am in the story and what level is where and it’s like wtf? This is my first souls game which you can probably tell. But yes, thank you so much for this guide. Need more.
"accept to be her simp" lol
I wasn't going to get elden ring. But I decided to get it and here is my favorite TH-camr for skyrim guides making elden ring guides
Yeah I was stubborn, spent 3 hours after leaving the tutorial area to kill him. Wasn't worth it, but couldn't leave until I killed him lol. His shield AOE mad him such a pain.
I have footage of that shield pound hitting me from a mile away 😅
I was with you with my skyrim days. Im with you with my new adventures with Elden Ring. Thou arth awesome. Much love from Manila brother.
To enjoy the full attributes, you need 30 strength and that’s a lot to grind
Holy shit at the final resting point I went through the gates and boy did I get a surprise 😭
big bro was waiting for you up there 😆
I just beat this enemy but didn’t look up any strategies prior. It took probably 5-7 tries but I pretty much used the same tactics you did. Was super stoked to finally beat him
Show off, took me about 40 😂
This guy was the first average playthrough humbling that most players got (not counting the tutorial boss)
as a brand new souls player, i've been loving the Vagabond with the starting halberd & shield, i found that greatsword and i've been heavily debating if it's better or not.
Hey me too new souls player. I love this kind of big boss fighting games from my childhood.
I feel weapon choice is personal preference, the only situation you would hear others would be when your choice is VERY weak.
Since this is a open world i would sugest you to explore before deciding, since you will find new weapons and enemies that may change your focus in combat, you are free to change mid way.
I have a +6 golden halberd it absolutely destroys anything scary quick except the tougher areas but it’s still incredibly viable.
I will advise you invest in a fast swinging weapons like a sword. Souls games require you to be agile on your feet, dodging, blocking and slashing down your enemies bit by bit
Been playing this for 2 days and stuck on this boss. You’ve earned a sub.
Game not even out 2 days yet
@@rbbl_ Came out on the 25th. Today is the 27th
If you struggle with him even with Torrent, try a simple bow)) This weapon might be your main carry against early bosses. Just use an attack after dodge - it is super quick, so he is not able to block it.
Haha what noob i kill in level 1 and not use invocation
ESO!!!! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH RN. This tutorial helped me so much. THANK YOU ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’m here bc of Kai Cenat 😂😂😂😂😂
@msftap worddd,same here😅😅

I believe Elden is just as fun taking it slow and exploring in whatever way you want. Once you get the gist of the game you get a sense of what kind of things you want to do. I play mage because I was having a hard time learning melee. Now that I'm mid game, I'm excited to go melee when I make a new character.
Been watching my friend play through elden ring and he got this boi down within like an hour or two of starting the game
I decided to fight any boss I see till I beat them, so naturally I beat him before I even got my horse, took me 2 hours tho
Have followed your guides for years. Love how you explain stuff. Very informative. Thanks ESO.
Just tried this strat and though I got him down farther than ever, he still kills me. Tried it about 10 times and still couldn't kill him.
Every time I try to flyby attack him he just magically stays right on top of me then just two shots me
This worked a lot thank you😂 But yea this does take a little time to get use to but once you got it u become unstoppable
I Love your video Thanks a lot
Beat him on foot...was hella hard since his hitboxes are sometimes wonky but after an hour I managed to get a hold of it...most of the time I got killed by the environment..."well" placed rock or tree is by far worse than any boss.
His hitboxes are not wonky.
Horse bash is annoying tho
@@mellamosteve331 His shield crush is wonky... sometimes it hits you even if you are far away from him...
@@Dan_Dos_ It's an aoe attack you're supposed to jump
yo thanks bruh, and the lone wolf ashes made this process a whole lot easier since it distracted him while I was healing or attacking
I killed Agheel in less than 8 tries. This boss is harder for me that the massive Dragon and I have to respect him for being a such a tough SoB.
Finally beat this guy. My Lone Wolves helped quite a bit as well. Thank you.
Been playing for a few hours now and been loving it, yet I try to limit myself from fighting bosses on the horse cause like shown the in video it can be real cheap xD, so I try testing my skills on foot, died so many many times and finally got him down, I started as the samurai and the katana is real good, I dont use shields so it gives that extra pack of damage tho I do have to roll alot xD, the unsheathed ability is so dang good,
The only boss in the game i truly cheesed was the first on in the tutorial, hits like a truck and you only get one chance, had to restart so many times and used the bow strategy, beat it and got that wicked weapon and sheld, this game is so amazing
I remember watching this guy when I first started playing fallout new vegas brings back so many memories second I realized that I clicked on one of his videos I haven’t watched this guy in years it was a nice sense of nostalgia
As a souls veteran i refused to advance at all without beating him at the start. Took me about 50 min but i did it.
Elder Ring is my first souls game its day 3 and I havent beat him yet how do you get past his second phase attacks?

I’m not sure what I would have done without this video 😂 thank you plenty

I just started Elden Ring n was like wtf I can’t kill this giant horseman lol! 😂 thanks for the advice I will use it
I really want this for a str faith build. I was planning on using great swords but this halberd looks really cool.
Took a few tries with horse but I FINALLY GOT HIM 4 FREAKING HOURS OF TRYING THANK YOU SOOO MUCH
I found the best and easiest way to beat him finally for people that hate him I just posted it
HEY GUY, YOU HELPED ME BEAT THIS BOSS! IM FOLLOWING YOU NOW!! THANKS!!
How do you keep Torrent from disappearing? I tried this method but the horse keeps disappearing randomly and I have to keep re-summoning him. It's like he's afraid or they put in a soft patch to prevent this strat.
This is the issue I'm having!!!
@@aftamath86 I figured it out, crouching while on the horse dismisses him. I rebound crouch to a different button I wasn't using for the fight and destroyed him.
It will disappear when it gets staggered or when you press crouch button .
Kai shoulda watched this 😂😂
Finally defeated him today, what a great boss
3:13 simp lol?
got hooked on your channel when you played Skyrim. Now i'm hooked again watching you play Elden Ring haha
Anyone still struggling with this there’s an even easier 100% garunteed way to beat the tree sentinel - use torrent to jump onto the highest wall of the church of Elleh equip a bow and 99 arrows and melt this boss without any spec or skills required he can’t attack you back or hit you and just stands and stare while you chip away and kill him
BATTLE BROTHER! nice to see you posting some guides as always! Cant wait to dive into this game but cant decide to get it for my ps4 pro or wait for my eso apex pc to get here soon.
Easy mode
I just went samurai and use mighty shot it works and i aint complaining
First time viewer and used this to beat this goldust looking fella. Thanks can’t wait for your next uploads
My first soul game and I started fighting this boss with the first weapon on foot until I realised he's too strong. Your guide helps. I will try it today 😅
Just beat him thanks to your tutorial. It mightve taken me 100 attempts but I did it!!
This was a great tutorial because i dont play this game but since i dont have internet its given me nothing but time and this is an awesome weapon to add to the collection as one of my first cool weapons
He has a blind spot near his body. I beat him before the mount but lost all the runes because I didn't know you lose runes after dying😭
That ability for the golden halberd can be obtained from a dung beetle and used on any halberd
Just bought Elden Ring last night and got through the tutorial. This vid is great since that Tree Sentinel killed me about eight times last night.
exactly but there is a easier way at the fight .... just wait him to drap the axe pressing run than come back and just stay rounding him pressing RB(weak attack with the dual hand long sword), memorize when he is gonna push youback with his horse and run aways again, repeat !
I made life harder by beating him on foot. Didn't know where to get the horse back then. But now I feel proud!
Haha same here
Thanks for the vid, I didn’t use the horse but I was having a hard time and searched up a guide and found this and when you said you gotta make sure you two handing your weapon I realised I had been trying by one handing the whole time with the same weapon. Great vid tho
Lure him into the church where the shop is and get him in between a pillar and you and he can’t really hit attacks :)
Thanks for this video again! Gonna try it tonight !!👌
