Not surprised they took the purple flames off of Maliketh's attacks. The reason magma wyrm Makar is called Makal is likely because in Japanese L and R are very similar and so it could have been a wrong translation or they changed it because makar sounds better
They are not similar, they are identical. They do not have the letter L in Japanese. When speaking words from other languages, they are used interchangeably.
I had played through half the game on 1.0 because I was too lazy connect my PS4 to the internet. After my wife told me I could find a mighty weapon for my build in Limgrave. I searched on the exact spot she told me but I couldn't find anything. The same happened later again with a Weapon supposedly found near the Witch Village. Then I got the idea to update the game and it was a very different and less broken experience since then! It was really funny because some of the Dragons just fell through the floor and died. I couldn't even fight them or get their drops, but at least I got some easy runes. I still miss my farming spot where I could get thousands of Runes without even fighting.
I played the 1.00 version so i can totally agree it's a completely different experience, a lot of Items and broken or missing, bosses were altered, as you pointed out the ui was changed, there's a glitch preventing you from getting further buffs for +25 weapons, the husks had nothing, oh yeah as you saw they moved the 6th obelisk,i missed something TH-cam messed my comment up and i forgot lol, but i could go on and on, they changed a BUNCH, oh yeah her dialogue messes up the first time lmao i had the exact same reaction "what?" Immediately talks to her again.
This was very eye opening for me, since I played the entire playthrough on 1.0 and eventually updated it later on. I was wondering why I couldn't find locations for certain things that were listed online for the patched versions. Also, because I played offline, I had to use the glitch in the snowfields, since I couldn't do Varre's quest to invade other players.
Here's what i found different in this video you probably missed: Prince Morgott uses 1 holy knife instead of the usual 3, Astel rememberence is Rememberence of the Misbegotten, and Black Blade AoW is called Destined Death Unbound. Thanks for making this video
Here’re some more: Astel had the wrong music, Gideon had Godfrey/Hoarah Loux music (yes, both), Loretta in Caria manor was named Guard Loretta, Placidisax’s big nuke attack didn’t have VFX that accurately reflected its range, Malenia’s waterfowl in phase 2 is missing the orange butterfly VFX, the magic glintblades fired by red wolf have a spiral trail behind them instead of a straight one, the second to last strike at the end of Malenia’s waterfowl (the one before the aoe that sends you flying) looked different, Malenia had an extra voice line when killing you in phase 1: “Now do you understand? I am Malenia, Blade of Miquella”, the player seemed to use the death by poke animation even when not dying of poke (not sure about this one, but it seemed like it), and probably more that I missed (I haven’t rewatched it, this is all what I remember from first time through)
9:59 that move set is also in the game its from D's sword, the inseparable Sword. it can be obtained by completing fia's questline and giving D's armor to his brother.
The banished knight greatsword also has this moveset, but I guess not many people know bout it cuz its like a 4% drop from a "stronger" less common enemy.
As a sound designer working in video games... Regarding the audio and music bugs you found in this version - Audio/Music is always last or amongst the last couple of departments to finish their work in any game production, so it makes sense. Games don't fail console certification for incorrect SFX (or bad balancing, progression etc, for that matter), so given that >99% of players will get the Day 1 patch, this final quality and bugfixing work is often pushed into that patch :)
Didn't have any net at home when the game first released, so this was my first playthrough, then i updated it later that year to see what the difference was, alot of different item names, descriptions added etc.
Exactly! And they fixed his attack hitboxes because they weren’t good, that’s all, nothing drastic at all, but somehow people ignorantly attributed that to the difficulty of Radahn, his move-set was never that difficult to avoid from, yeah he can beat you a bunch of times, but he’s not Maliketh, Malenia, Morgott, Mohg, Radagon in terms of moveset, never was. Though Radahn is one of my favorite bosses in the Soulsborne series, top 5 even.
@@HeyTarnished yeah. Radahn has a big moveset but if you just dodge behind him and stick there, you can avoid most of it. Still a very fun fight though, probably my fav in the game.
It was the damage numbers that changed, nothing else. Also I’m pretty sure the game released at a slightly later patch, so there were a few things that didn’t make it to the base game. He could have been a bit tougher than he was in this video. But yea pre patch radahn was not a myth.
I wish he was that beast tho. When I fought him he was a little too easy, especially when they give you all the summons. He deserved to be one of those big roadblocks
so the ragged armor that Gostoc sells at 3:49 seems to be the same armor as Igons from the shadow of the erdtree dlc, you can get it by finishing his questline. not sure if there are any subtle differences or not but the icons are the same, kind of cool that they had this set in the game for so long and just never used it until now
10:26 Damn, that sword with a glintstone pebble was basically my first weapon my first playthrough. I wanted to try melee only, but after starting the game I realized some ranged magic would help me out. That was the only thing I could figure out how to do lmao
I actually really like those original names for smithing stones, normal to hard to golden to polar to ancient dragon, and then if I had to guess somber 9 was colorless. Much better IMO than just numbering them
I love Maliketh, but I fucking hate the Beast Clergyman phase. I legit wish that he got two health bars because it always feels like he's prime Maliketh for such a short time.
Lore wise, It matches up with his decline. This is not the same Maliketh who defeated the empyrean GEQ and her Godskins without even wielding Destined Death. He's a main story boss, so they had to nerf him too. If he was optional, phase 2 would've had a full health bar.
3:56 Curse you Bayle! I hereby vow! You will rue this day! Behold, a true drake warrior! And I, Igon! Your fear made flesh! Solid of scale you might be, foul dragon... But i will riddle with holes your rotten hide! With a hail of harpoons! With every last drop of my being!
This just reminds me how much I miss all the old skips and cheeses. So many of my runs relied on the Godskin Noble AI break and Niall skip. Fuck those bosses.
I've beat base Elden Ring last week and watching this and hearing you talk about differences in the day one patch and future updates really had me questioning things lmao! I played 1.0 so things either were or weren't in my favor. I didn't even know the boss themes were supposed to be different
I remember pirating it when it just came up and playing the 1.0 version. I remember encountering a lot of bugs, Radahn being extremely difficult and all of the op weapons that were so fun to use
Also mimic tear at plus 10 was trash too when u summoned it it was practically dead with low health and summons were more squishy too in 1.00 at least for me 😅
Big H's death laugh was a nice touch. A warrior who had to forsake his true nature given one last blaze of glory from one of his descendants who proved the whole world wrong, that a man could kill a God.
22:57 Interestingly, that name was kept in polish version ("Przeklęte Farum Azula"). I wonder if there are other script changes that didn't make it to localized versions.
The craziest thing of all is how many of these things I still innately look for. I always expect the second tree avatar in the capitol street or the lightning to chase me on the platforms in faraam azula. It hasn't been there for years but the FEAR. IT LINGERS.
So apparently that ragged armor set was actually used as Igon's armor set in the DLC, wonder if they had the character figured out by then or just had the set lying around

You know, it's probably not the reason, but that thing with Malenia's OST appearing on a couple other bosses to me is reminiscent of Spyro 3. In Spyro 3, the OST of the very first overworld will also play in the third overworld as well as during the final boss fight. I don't remember if the final boss music did exist in the 1.0 version of Spyro 3, but the third overworld music does exist in the files of all verisons of the game. The idea why that was happening in Spyro 3 had apparently something to do with some info tables not being set up correctly for those levels, so when the game can't find the correct tracks due to those incorrect tables, it defaults to the first OST on the list, which is the OST of the very first overworld. The European release (which came after the US release) did kinda hastily patch up at least the final boss music by using the music from the second boss (the overworld track was incredibly off tonally for the boss), but all/most of the music mishaps were only corrected in the last release version of Spyro 3, which were American Greatest Hits and Collectors Edition releases. The Malenia OST thing kinda feels similar, depending on how everything is set up file structure wise etc. Although I think the OST did seem to fit pretty decently with Margit.
Wow. I had forgotten when I first started playing on the disk, I didn’t have internet. I chose the Intelligencer thinking what the hell is that? But he looked cool as an assassin, so I went with. Then after an update he became a Confessor. Now I know why that was the case. Thank you!

The reason magma wyrm Makar is called Makal is likely because in Japanese L and R are very similar and so it could have been a wrong translation or they changed it because makar sounds better
Makar is a russian name also.
Улыбок тебе дед Макар @@TohtoriP
They are not similar, they are identical. They do not have the letter L in Japanese. When speaking words from other languages, they are used interchangeably.
The purple on Maliketh’s attacks was sooooooo cool
fr
using the magic beam against the rotted tree avatar seems redundant? It's resistant to magi and weak to fire, so just use the other attack of SoNaF.
26:52 - "I haven't been into this section of Moghwyn in probably over a year."
*is immediately reminded of why they haven't been there in over a year*
"It doesn't help that colossal weapons take forever to get back up."
Don't I know it 😢
Funny. Right timing + popular topic = video boost :) Congrats!
Its crazy that the Ragged Armor set from Gostocs bell bearing in this version is now the drake hunters armor in the DLC
A portal can get ya there. Even in the unpatched version : )
Here's what i found different in this video you probably missed:
Prince Morgott uses 1 holy knife instead of the usual 3,
Astel rememberence is Rememberence of the Misbegotten, and Black Blade AoW is called Destined Death Unbound. Thanks for making this video
Very interesting. I noticed the Astel rememberance in the run but ignored it since I already mentioned the name change but didn’t see the other 2
Here’re some more: Astel had the wrong music, Gideon had Godfrey/Hoarah Loux music (yes, both), Loretta in Caria manor was named Guard Loretta, Placidisax’s big nuke attack didn’t have VFX that accurately reflected its range, Malenia’s waterfowl in phase 2 is missing the orange butterfly VFX, the magic glintblades fired by red wolf have a spiral trail behind them instead of a straight one, the second to last strike at the end of Malenia’s waterfowl (the one before the aoe that sends you flying) looked different, Malenia had an extra voice line when killing you in phase 1: “Now do you understand? I am Malenia, Blade of Miquella”, the player seemed to use the death by poke animation even when not dying of poke (not sure about this one, but it seemed like it), and probably more that I missed (I haven’t rewatched it, this is all what I remember from first time through)
His name is Margit the fell also… seems like they added “omen” after the update
9:59 that move set is also in the game its from D's sword, the inseparable Sword. it can be obtained by completing fia's questline and giving D's armor to his brother.
The banished knight greatsword also has this moveset, but I guess not many people know bout it cuz its like a 4% drop from a "stronger" less common enemy.
Also the Knight’s Greatsword, which is the longest of the three greatswords with the flowy moveset
i simply love this moveset, is how a greatsword is supposed to be used
@@drsgonborn and it allows for a true combo (jump R1 comboes into an R1). Amazing swords, superior in both practicality and sexyness of the moveset
its just the mirrah greatsword moveset from dark souls 2, ten years ago...
Fun fact: the ancestor spirits in 21:02 and this „waterfowl like“ attack at 32:24 is at the newest convergence mod version 1.4.1 too. Thats cool.
Congratulations, your video has been blessed by TH-cam algorithm!
Didn't have any net at home when the game first released, so this was my first playthrough, then i updated it later that year to see what the difference was, alot of different item names, descriptions added etc.
Post Elden ring DLC who sees that this ragged set from 1.0 is the same set as Iggon’s set in the DLC…. Pretty interesting imo
My boy didnt know how OP Rennala's Staff back in 1.0
Not in spell buff, no no no. As a weapon.
Proof that pre-patch Radahn is just a myth. The only moveset difference is the projectile speed lol
@@HeyTarnishedall them others took 2-3 tries at most, Radahn had me ready to break my controller after 5 hours
Very cool showcase! I thought I fever dreamed up some of this stuff but its cool seeing the differences and how much was actually changed!
"Destined Death Unbound" is a cool name change. It makes sense too in the main story.
Wish they kept that in the final release.
so the ragged armor that Gostoc sells at 3:49 seems to be the same armor as Igons from the shadow of the erdtree dlc, you can get it by finishing his questline. not sure if there are any subtle differences or not but the icons are the same, kind of cool that they had this set in the game for so long and just never used it until now
The armor of the biggest chad...
My favourite Elden ring update: the one where they added the word omen to margit’s title
Very interesting to see the ragged armor being taken out of 1.0 and being put in as DLC armor
Good to see the ragged armour is used for igon
10:26 Damn, that sword with a glintstone pebble was basically my first weapon my first playthrough. I wanted to try melee only, but after starting the game I realized some ranged magic would help me out. That was the only thing I could figure out how to do lmao
you skipped almost everything in leyndell, but it's the most changed area, basically every single enemy is different
yeah, it is weird to make a video solely to highlight the changes but then he just skips whole sections
@@aliq45He has 3k subscribers and this is a stream vod cut up to make highlights, I don’t think it’s a huge issue
@@ayylmaotvcriticism is valid, it IS an issue and a good error to consider avoiding in the future lmao
0:51 truer words have never been spoken
Igons armour is just the ragged armour, they changed unobtainable armour so you can't drop it but Igon's is also not leavable.
I think the ragged armor from gostoc ends up being igons armor in the DLC after you kill bayle
Banished knights greatsword uses that lordsworn moveset still in current path. It's very good
That ragged outfit looks really good… I want it
My first playthrough was on 1.00 and I still have the armor
@@TheguyfromJurassicpark3 What do you play on? Do you think it would work on Xbox?
I'm on ps4
They actually moved this armor set to the DLC from Igon
The ragged armor is Igons set in the recently released dlc, pretty sick
Noticed that too. FromSoft is allergic to wasting assets, and I say that with admiration.
10:44 Makal makes sense cause in Japanese the " L " becomes "Ru" which makes it Makaru. But guess they hadn't changed it in translations yet.
I just realized that the ragged armor you found is igons armor
Ragged armor is Igon's armor!
I actually really like those original names for smithing stones, normal to hard to golden to polar to ancient dragon, and then if I had to guess somber 9 was colorless. Much better IMO than just numbering them
LARGE HARD Smithing Stone made me chuckle
Kind of reminds me of "Very Large Ember", but more... suggestive.
Damn who would have thought gostoc sold Igons armour set.
I remember back in the earlier versions each of the rune items had a unique name, like the rune [1] was the pauper's rune
Coming back from the dlc, and the “ragged armor” became igons set 😂
Whoa the ragged armour is Igon's set from the DLC! Crazy that they had it in the game from the 1.0 version.
3:56
Curse you Bayle!
Fuck those bosses.
yo is ragged armor igons set in the dlc??
yep just checked lol
I've beat base Elden Ring last week and watching this and hearing you talk about differences in the day one patch and future updates really had me questioning things lmao! I played 1.0 so things either were or weren't in my favor. I didn't even know the boss themes were supposed to be different
As someone who bought Elden ring, and didn’t update it for a long time, the first version is the one I’m used to
I miss being able to get the smithing bell bearing two in Liurnia
It was such a pointless change. I don't even know where to find those smithing stones.
The ragged armor is igons armor from the dlc now!
02:16 originally, that song was made for margit in the beta then they decide to give it to malenia.
Just watched after the DLC released, didn't know Igon's set was in the game at launch 3:49
Damn, this vid is popping off on your channel. It's about to get a million views eventually.
*Malenia's music on almost every boss*
"I am Malenia, Blade of Everyone"
I remember pirating it when it just came up and playing the 1.0 version. I remember encountering a lot of bugs, Radahn being extremely difficult and all of the op weapons that were so fun to use
I’m pretty sure the ragged armor is now Igons armor in the dlc
Also mimic tear at plus 10 was trash too when u summoned it it was practically dead with low health and summons were more squishy too in 1.00 at least for me 😅
4:02 wtf this is Igon’s Armor 🤣🤣
yea it has been in game files for a while along with some other armor that we get in the dlc
4:04 from the future I come the ragged set is Igons set from the dlc
Omg the ragged armor u got around the 4 min mark is new armor in the DLC its Igons armor
Big H's death laugh was a nice touch. A warrior who had to forsake his true nature given one last blaze of glory from one of his descendants who proved the whole world wrong, that a man could kill a God.
ur voice and dialect reminds me of Roderika, engaging in some spirit tuning by any chance?
Elden Ring fans when they hear a british person lmao
22:57 Interestingly, that name was kept in polish version ("Przeklęte Farum Azula"). I wonder if there are other script changes that didn't make it to localized versions.
I like the Ragged set. Kind of sad they removed it.
The craziest thing of all is how many of these things I still innately look for. I always expect the second tree avatar in the capitol street or the lightning to chase me on the platforms in faraam azula. It hasn't been there for years but the FEAR. IT LINGERS.
You forgot to show the flash bang that was the Bandai logo lmao
So apparently that ragged armor set was actually used as Igon's armor set in the DLC, wonder if they had the character figured out by then or just had the set lying around
3:19 calmest fck i've heard after dying in a game hahaha
Fromsoft will do that to you 🤣🤣
@@painwithoutsuffering i do enjoy fromsoft games including elden ring, but man, NG+7 hurts my mental health and controller everytime i miss dodging - everything hits like a truck hahaha can't stop raging sometimes specially at the t-rex looking mf dogs in caelid and gelmir
4:00 yo igon's armor 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥
Wow. I had forgotten when I first started playing on the disk, I didn’t have internet. I chose the Intelligencer thinking what the hell is that? But he looked cool as an assassin, so I went with.
Then after an update he became a Confessor.
Now I know why that was the case.
Thank you!
