  • Demo work continues on the parking deck, making the old Sears building nearly completely visible from above. A small portion of the deck remains attached above the loading dock and entrance.
If some of you are wondering why work is slow on the parking deck, the process they are using allows the excavator to break up the concrete into small, easily manageable pieces. This also frees all of the metal rebar, allowing the scrap to be separated onsite and the site to be cleaned as they tear down the deck. In this video, the excavator is breaking up a section of decking and one of the support beams. It appears a similar approach will be taken with the mall itself. Crews inside have so far removed most electrical equipment, the carpet, ceiling tiles, most debris left behind by vandals, as well as fixtures and furniture left behind by stores. When it comes time to knock the mall down, all that should be left is steel, block, bricks, and concrete, perhaps some drywall depending on how extensive they gut it.
A large pile of metal is outside near Entry D, which I suspect is the shelving from JC Penney’s back rooms. Another WMPD surveillance tower was added around back near Entry E. Please, stay off the Century III Mall property. Let the mall go in peace. Don’t ruin it for all of us.

I used to lift weights in that parking lot.
Now I'll just have to go be awesome somewhere else.

It is sad we can longer live in a more relaxed way. The internet has caused all of this. We are slaves to our phone computers and have to be on call 24 hours a day. You are even tracked no matter where you are stalked while searching for products you have to purchase online because there is and will never be another option. I'm glad I'm old and will not have to live this type of future.

I heard of someone who got fired from his job for not answering a 2 AM phone call from his boss. He had his phone turned off overnight and was fired when he reported to work at his usual 8:30 AM time. He worked at an office, and was NOT in a line of work that justified this call(such as paramedic or police officer).
