    Hi Masood, your video give me confidence to try on my 2004 W220 S500 with 170k on it. Hopefully it will have new life! I plan to get a kit from FCPeuro with 3 control arms: upper, lower, and torque strut. It got a squeaky sound all the time, and when pushing down on the front end, I tried to find out the source but saw many bushings bad so better replace them all.

    • @masood-tv
      @masood-tv  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Khoa Tran, you will do just fine. Many are afraid to work on cars. But with the right tools and instructions - and some bravery, it does not need to remain as the domain of professionals. My advice is that you watch the video on large screen a couple of times in entirety. You are a brave man. That is the first step. The rest falls into place easily. Just be prepared and safe. Nothing matches the satisfaction you will get of your own hard work and a renewed luxury ride. With best wishes! Masood.

    Nice job! I was told by MB Parts Dept that if your control arms werent damaged you can just replace all bushings. They say generally replacing parts is only due to various accidents. It also depends on the year of the car as well, if there is a replaceable bushing kit.

    • @masood-tv
      @masood-tv  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Smoke Staxx - thank you. There used to be bushings for the W220 control arms, from what I vaguely recall, that are no longer being produced. So, we are left only with the option of purchasing brand new arms. Some brands are much cheaper than OEM. Lemforder ones are probably the best option though a little pricier. New arms though greatly enhance and restore the riding experience.

    Perfect video and tutorial.
    I have done few jobs on w220 by following your videos.
    Can I please ask you where can I get ball joint separator like yours?I am in UK and I got fat short once,about 3 if them and non are good for the w220.
    I end up using shock to separate joints arms.
    Your work looks nice and easy with that separator.
    Anything on amazon you can suggest for me.
    Thank you and keep educating us with your videos.

    Can you advise on this process? I have a 2008 MB S600 with what appears, if I see it correctly, to have the W221 suspension. I have been told by the MB garage that my "lower spring link arms" need replacing with ball joints attached. Your video appears to show this but I am NOT sure if ALL S Series suspensions are the same. Are they? Thank you and if you have a video on an S600, great. Thank you.

    • @masood-tv
      @masood-tv  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi David, yes it is different for your year. However the concept is the same. Just be sure to research and get the exact part for your car. The tools are the same as in the video. The procedure is also very similar. Don't be apprehensive and just do it. Purchase the manual for your model from emanuals.com for less than $30. You will save tons of money and more rewardingly the satisfaction of doing it yourself.

      @@RICHFILMSTV - just dont panic. It can be done if you have the tools. Give it some thought. I am not sure where you are stuck - removing the control arm or installing a new one, or which end of it. If it is the control arm and if at the wheel, removing the strut will give you room to work on the control arm. Be patient and think thru it.

    • @masood-tv

      Hi David, if you mean the shock strut, look for two recessed torx bolts towards the bottom of the shock.

    • @masood-tv
      @masood-tv  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am so sorry you are running into this issue. You have to make sure you are using the correct bit (a 5mm hex socket) and that you insert it all the way in first, then turn gradually and slowly taking care not to shear off inside of the bolt's head. Many run into this issue. It does feel very tight and you have to be patient. The bolt should not snap. Worst case, you have to take it to a mechanic and have it operated on with a cutoff tool. Good luck.

      If you own a cutoff tool, you can do it yourself (of course after trying it the normal way I prescribed first). Just cut off around the bolt area until it loosens up...If you live near a Harbor Freight store, they sell cutoff tools for a few bucks which have many other uses.

    I have 2006 W220 4matic s430. Do you have any video for the suspension as I want to change my front end suspension (lower/upper control arms etc) but can't find videos on it (my understanding is that lower arm control is different in 4matic suspension). It would be great help.

    • @masood-tv
      @masood-tv  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey snoop dog - you are right - the lower control arm is different on the 4Matic S430. I don't have a video but the concepts are very similar. If you have another car or if you can do without your S430 for a couple of days, get in there and remove them on one side. The get the parts then. If you can remove, then you can definitely install new arms.

      @@snoopdog6426 - Sure, I will suggest 3. FCPEuro.com is the best since they warranty even wear items. Autohausaz.com is my next choice for MB cars. Pelicanparts.com is another good option. Add parts to all three and compare the final figure including taxes and shipment. Pick the cheapest or go with FCPEuro because of the warranty.
