I feel like that thing about The Actor/Tim Breaker/Jack trying to find his lost love while Door kills all the other versions of him in parallel universes sounds like a possible plot for Quantum Break 2... I hope one of these days they randomly announce that they finally bought the IP from Microsoft.
@@HiddenMachineGaming it goes off the rails a bit towards the middle of season 2 because Lynch left the show over creative differences and it shows. But he came back towards the end so try to stick with it. Honestly the film fire walk with me and season 3 is where the really Lynichian stuff is.
While watching this it just occurred to me that the “Poison Pill” was having to partner with Microsoft to make QB, thus shutting it out of the “canon” RCU. However I love how Sam just explains it all away with it a hand wave and tells us it’s all related even when it’s not.
I used a barcode scanner to scan the clipboard Sam is holding in the "Time Breaker" episode, and i got a link to "Nikey Jordan" shoes, which are the ones Sam himself has been wearing at conventions. Just in case anyone hasn't discovered it yet. Not big, I know, could just be Sam saying "Just do it" in regards to theories. So regardless, nice Easter egg on Sam's part.

I think trying to figure out the difference between “Dark Place influencing the Real World” and vice versa is almost a moot point, thanks to the Dark Place being a non-linear ocean; Today-Alan could clairvoyant his way into some knowledge about Tomorrow-Earth, then accidentally scribble it down and somehow pass it to Yesterday-Alan, who then typed it up and suddenly the Dark Place and Our Place end up nicely synchronizing.
16:45 I freaked out in that scene! I was expecting "Alan" do the Dylan dream sequence monologue. Especially the part when Dylan talks about Door and the police.
I'm convinced that the dark place isn't just a realm where Alan is trapped, but where all of these games and characters have always resided for the sake of our entertainment
39:42 Agree. You are not the only one. Sam has been able to involve us in a way that time doesn't exist. Everything is happening at the same time and things are overlaping. Its an extension of David Lynch Inland Empire movie, but the forth wall doesn't exist. I'm waiting for a next videogame in which we the player physically have to do something that will affect the game.
Like Doki Doki Literature club where at one point you are directed to first manually rewrite some of the game’s files and even to delete the game files, and there is a character who is aware of being in a videogame and knows when you turned off your computer.
Honestly I don’t care how Quantum Break is connected and made canon to the RCU, but just that it is. And its been confirmed, and Im so hyped and excited about that. Sam Lake is a great story teller, and I look forward to enjoying what they have in store for us.
Hatch is door, faden for how Beth faded into time, we don’t gotta discuss Tim, and the next big bad is hopefully gonna be Paul serene as Chester bless! Just imagine the plot twist being that his organization planted the AWE for ordinary and maybe created AWE for the lake in bright falls.
To me, American Nightmare was just another spin on the loop. Alan does say in AW2 that the Dark Place has tricked him before, made him think he escaped and returned to Alice - but it's an illusion and he can never be sure.
You know, given Jesse finds Alan as her "brother" in North Star.. did he ever definitively state he was an only child? It'd be crazy if all this time that Faden/Wilder was Alan's sister from the "real world."
I think the funniest thing about the Number One Fan sequence is how all the "haters" are screaming meta insults that have in fact been (often jokingly) directed at Sam Lake. It's honestly hilarious.
I've got a feeling episode 3 is something bigger. It gives me the same vibes i had when playing control and realizing the world was much bigger than we thought. Also need to know if we are still getting the free dlc that they talked about before the game was released.
I’m curious what will happen if Microsoft ever does decide to sell the rights to QB to Remedy? They’ve very much built this new era around tiptoeing and getting close to the line but not crossing it so if they did have the opportunity to purchase the rights I wonder how they would do it? Straight up acknowledge the events and characters or just keep doing what they’re already doing? It’ll be fun to see if that ever happens On another note I truly think Shawn Ashmore is going to play a huge role in Remedy and its games going forward. That line from Sam in Time Breaker about Shawn becoming a superhero and jumping between realities is a hint for what’s to come. I feel like he’s going to become the glue that holds the RCU together or at least plays a huge role in making it somewhat make sense. Idk I’m probably wrong but I can’t help but feel that Tim/Shawn is very important to Remedy’s future plans
Personally speaking, outside of a direct sequel to QB, I don't know if anything else Remedy would do would be all that different from what they are already doing. They don't seem all that interested in a full dimension crossing team up type story, instead they seem more content to make those connections on a more subtle level. For me it's kind of similar to how Larry David chose to do the Seinfeld reunion episode as a meta story in an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. It's a little more tactful of an approach in my opinion, but who knows what might happen eventually! To your second point, the line about the superhero is also the same language that was used when discussing Quantum Break nearly a decade ago. Remedy is seemingly always open to the long game, so I do think there's room for them to continue with their plans for whoever it is that Shawn is portraying.
Honestly, I am here for this theory. I think Shawn will do a lot of other games with remedy in the future. He has done a few other games and has been really open about being really into videogames in the past. He beat max Payne on the set of X2. I think he and the Remedy crew get along really well and I think he will be the celebrity face of the connected universe.
OK so I need help trying to understand 2 contradictions in Alan Wake 2 the first one is While the plaque in the entry hall of the Valhalla Nursing Home states the building was built in 1965 for Finnish filmmaker Thomas Zane there are a number of indicators the building is far far older The date 1887 is lettered on the roofline above the main entrance which would be consistent with the manor's Victorian style date marks like this often note a building of historical value A newspaper clipping in the basement indicates Thomas Zane had purchased the old manor house outside town which means the building existed well before his and Barbara's arrival in Bright Falls So that's one thing that contradicts it's self I just put it dawn as Alan's story changing things but what I need help with is the second contradiction I need to know if you think this is a mistake made by Remedy or if it's on purpose cus it will mean something in the story So I was playing Alan Wake 2 and in the Valhalla Nursing Home Pat Maine says in 1991 a 15 year old girl called Norah Hesberg drowned in the old bunker, In 2014 Barry Wheeler buys the building near by and turns it into the Valhalla Nursing Home Then after Tor gose into the overlap if you go to the front porch where the old people are and talk to them a woman will say I think Tor and Odin got this place cheap cus a girl drowned and the place is haunted this confirms the building was turned into a nursing home years after the girl drowned But the problem starts when I went through the overlap cus in the bunker there is a newspaper that says, The local girl Norah Hesberg age 15 who went missing on Saturday of last week was discovered dead in the sealed underground bunker near Valhalla Nursing Home in Bright Falls The girl is said to have drowned in 1991 multiple times in the game and this newspaper is talking like it was only written a week later so how do they know the building is called Valhalla Nursing Home when it wouldn't have been named that until 2014 Is this a mistake by Remedy or was it done on purpose cus I think it is a mistake cus the first contradiction with the age of the Nursing Home adds something to the story it shows Alan's story is changing things and cus the building is older than originally thought there could be something special about the building but the newspaper adds nothing to the story its just weird how the newspaper calls the building the Valhalla Nursing Home when it wasn't named that yet
24:42 Did you check all possible combinations? Where did you get that map? That's insane the multiple permutations of outcomes depending on decisions...a proper Caos Theory. Does the TreeMap resemble a butterfly? But yes... everything connect to Alan, which makes sense because he is the creator of the history. So, Alan is unable to scape from the Dark Place...so, its looping to him bringing the heror to him. Plus, he "doesn't know" yet who is Door and how he is playing with him. Something he learn on "the mask" chapter.
Great point. I think he's already aware of/open to the concept, but from what we see of him in the Dark Place, it seems as if he's not yet fully realizing that it's happening around him at that moment.
I am actually getting tired of multiverse stuff. Right after the MCU movies everyone has been doing this multiverse stuff. The only thing we know 100 percent is that Control and Alan Wake are the only actual connected games as they are the only two games that directly have the characters show up in each others games. The real Jesse Faden shows up in a quick shot in the Alan wake section of Alan Wake 2 and Alan Wake shows up in control. And the FBC shows up in Alan wake 2 as well. We really don't need yet another franchise with another multiverse. I really wish Remedy would stay away from using the tired already played out multiverse stuff.
This is how I’ve been feeling too. Nods and what if scenarios are cool and all- but if the connected universe stuff is ultimately going to be used for elaborate Easter eggs, I don’t know… seems a little underwhelming. The big fear however, is that all of this is gearing up towards an Endgame Scenario- with a Marvel team up to take down the Master of Many worlds. I hope Remedy does something more interesting than that.
I think the Lake house DLC is gonna tie into control 2,set it up kinda like they did in the AWE DLC in control. that being said i hope they do the Max Payne remakes before control 2. so they could tie it all together that way.
I know this sounds crazy, but I've figured out The Dark Presence. It is literally Doctor Casper Darling. We can see as he slips into madness in day 665. He reaches out. He creates Thomas Zane. An artist. We see huge Darling influences everywhere. Including his theory on many worlds. They very fundamental time works and reacts as Doctor Darling thinks it will. They both fail and they so they incorporate the idea of themselves together. The birth of Alan Wake. A story about an archetype. A writer. Someone that uses both art and logic to weave a narrative. We see 665 as a major point in the game. Events often happen at 665. Literally a joke from Doctor Darling. Neighbor of the beast. The dark presence is Doctor Darling going mad searching for a way to escape. Reaching and creating characters. As we see events in the Dark Place don't happen linearly. Doctor Darling actually created The Dark Place when exposed to Hedron AND it had always existed there. We have casual loops feeding on each other to gain traction. "Thousands have gone missing withing the labyrinth of me." "This is the ritual. To lead you on. Your friends will meet him. When you are gone." The ritual is leading Alan on. His friends will meet HIM. When you Alan is gone. Doctor Darling reaching out trying to reach his friends in the FBC. The Dark Place is another reality created by Doctor Darling as he descends alone into chaos.
I've always seen the dark presence as an amalgam of the sense of frustration and failure of all artistic types, Dr. Darling is a scientific artist in a way. I think every champion of light adds to the power of the dark presence. Wake, Zane, Darling, Dylan, the Old Gods... Possibly more. And in a way each sows creative seeds in the timeline to create or brings into better focus the essence of each other.
I've never seen anyone else talk about this, but does anyone know why that when Shawn ventures through realities that he takes on the appearance of that other reality's version of himself? Outside of making each level within the game have more distinct looks overall, it seems odd for that to occur.
Remedy deserves to get to “tow the line of what’s copyright infringement” rockstar pretty clearly doesn’t give much of a shit about the ip anymore and they aren’t the original creators of max Payne, more just publishers helping out a talented but also limited at the time remedy. Honestly laws around copyright like in examples like this prove how the law is twisted and only takes away from the actual artistic creators and gives the power and choice to the bigger companies who really don’t care about art and only monopolize ips to get more money off of merchandising deals and letting whatever smaller team they find take a crack at making a new game(that’ll probably be a remake) so remedy 100% shouldn’t get flack for the use of Alex Casey/Max Payne because they are his FUCKING CREATOR. If you defend rockstar you’re literally a part of the problem for artists who want to just make and use their own art and are either completely misunderstanding the argument or mischaracterizing it.
I hear you, but I don't think anybody is defending Rockstar or giving Remedy any flack. The best thing Rockstar has done with the IP is agreeing to fully fund the Remedy developed remakes.
@@Woombi 100% confirmed! Remedy is developing a Max Payne 1 and 2 remake that is being funded and published by Rockstar. It's going to be on the Northlight engine (same as Alan Wake 2) and just recently entered full production.
@@HiddenMachineGaming oh sick that’s pretty cool of rockstar I guess. Still wish they’d give back the ip to remedy but this is the next best thing though. Can’t wait to play it.
I expect it to further bridge the connections between AW and Control. Some leaks are out there, interesting stuff, but avoid them if you don’t want anything spoiled.
@@HiddenMachineGaming understood..but then the exact ways to go into the dark place is not defined...one of the ways is the threshold. Also its strange how everyone who goes in the dark place or the multiverse meet Mr. Door
@@HiddenMachineGaming also I had some doubts 1. if both Cauldron Lake and FBC are a place for AWE then why are they both so different? Like why dosent the hiss exist in Cauldron Lake. I mean sure they have some similar qualities like controlling people's mind(Cynthia & Dylan) but still quite different 2. see a dark place being a simple entity cant have motive like controlling the world. So in my opinion Zane is actually the one who is doing it. How do I conclude this? See Zane was already more famous and more capable than Wake coz he also was a movie director. So if dark place was a reality why cudnt it achieve its goals with Zane? IMO Zane himself must have created the dark place and all AWE. also there is no accounts for AWE before Zane. What do u think
i noticed something change in remedy after control... they embrace everything come out from their community as lore as fact as fan fiction etc.... they choose goes in their own way and listen to their fans at same time too....and they even mocking ppl with idea majority of community says no its not true....in rose episode most ppl in community never thinks about maybe mr scratch is twin brother of alan wake and they wanted to inform us you can think about it too even we never wants going in this path in our main plot ..okkk dont let idiots say you are wrong ...thats why in last episode we will going in all phase of video game or movies creation...first is idea imagining then writing second one is sketch like 2d game we played next one is comic book full sketch second is level design design with low effort other act create places based on real life enviorment or visual in your mind then hire ppl for voice acting playing role etc and last one director make it real in one type of media...sam lake really loves his community and adore all of us
sorry for my ignorance, but I have a genuine question. Is Control and the FBC “real” or they’re like all fiction created by Alan in the Dark Place? this gets me so confused after playing AWE dlc
The FBC is real. Alan was able to catch glimpses of it to put into his writing, maybe in part due to his connection to Alice and Hartman and their later involvement with the FBC.
After Episode 3 I'm genuinely convinced that Sam just has been into the multiverse.
Regarding the "both wilder and more serene" stanza of Tom's poem in Alan Wake: Obviously, now, post Quantum Break, the poem has retrospectively become a reference to "Beth Wilder" and "Paul Serene". But, it jumped out at me, due to my linguistics brain, that that the reference is MORE than just recontextualising the words "wilder" and "serene" assurnames.
The words "both" and "Beth" are what we linguists call a "minimal pair", in that the words are identical save for one different sound in the same location. In this case, the non-identical sound is the vowel nucleus of each syllable: "o" and "e". Everything else is the same.

I’m curious what will happen if Microsoft ever does decide to sell the rights to QB to Remedy? They’ve very much built this new era around tiptoeing and getting close to the line but not crossing it so if they did have the opportunity to purchase the rights I wonder how they would do it? I feel like he’s going to become the glue that holds the RCU together or at least plays a huge role in making it somewhat make sense.
OK so I need help trying to understand 2 contradictions in Alan Wake 2 the first one is
While the plaque in the entry hall of the Valhalla Nursing Home states the building was built in 1965 for Finnish filmmaker Thomas Zane there are a number of indicators the building is far far older
The date 1887 is lettered on the roofline above the main entrance which would be consistent with the manor's Victorian style date marks like this often note a building of historical value
A newspaper clipping in the basement indicates Thomas Zane had purchased the old manor house outside town which means the building existed well before his and Barbara's arrival in Bright Falls
So that's one thing that contradicts it's self I just put it dawn as Alan's story changing things but what I need help with is the second contradiction I need to know if you think this is a mistake made by Remedy or if it's on purpose cus it will mean something in the story
So I was playing Alan Wake 2 and in the Valhalla Nursing Home Pat Maine says in 1991 a 15 year old girl called Norah Hesberg drowned in the old bunker, In 2014 Barry Wheeler buys the building near by and turns it into the Valhalla Nursing Home
Then after Tor gose into the overlap if you go to the front porch where the old people are and talk to them a woman will say I think Tor and Odin got this place cheap cus a girl drowned and the place is haunted this confirms the building was turned into a nursing home years after the girl drowned
But the problem starts when I went through the overlap cus in the bunker there is a newspaper that says, The local girl Norah Hesberg age 15 who went missing on Saturday of last week was discovered dead in the sealed underground bunker near Valhalla Nursing Home in Bright Falls
The girl is said to have drowned in 1991 multiple times in the game and this newspaper is talking like it was only written a week later so how do they know the building is called Valhalla Nursing Home when it wouldn't have been named that until 2014
Is this a mistake by Remedy or was it done on purpose cus I think it is a mistake cus the first contradiction with the age of the Nursing Home adds something to the story it shows Alan's story is changing things and cus the building is older than originally thought there could be something special about the building but the newspaper adds nothing to the story its just weird how the newspaper calls the building the Valhalla Nursing Home when it wasn't named that yet

"Thousands have gone missing withing the labyrinth of me."
"This is the ritual. To lead you on. Your friends will meet him. When you are gone."
The ritual is leading Alan on.
Take a shot every time u hear "echo of"
I tried this and I died
You've more or less echoed my sentiments on what I believe is going on in the Rememdy shared universe.
I've never seen anyone else talk about this, but does anyone know why that when Shawn ventures through realities that he takes on the appearance of that other reality's version of himself? Outside of making each level within the game have more distinct looks overall, it seems odd for that to occur.
I’m still not sure what to think of that.
How about list of alter names in comic book section in third episode? Dylan as alt version of Jesse? And Tom and Scratch alt versions of Alan?
There’s so much to dig through there
Excellent day!! You and Dean/Gaming uploaded Video. Any future Discussions together?
Nothing planned at the moment, but I feel like we are destined to cross paths again
@@HiddenMachineGaming Well, Alan rewriting reality
Мagnificent, thank you!
Thank you!
@@HiddenMachineGaming is that even confirmed yet I thought that was just a rumor?
@@Woombi 100% confirmed! Remedy is developing a Max Payne 1 and 2 remake that is being funded and published by Rockstar. It's going to be on the Northlight engine (same as Alan Wake 2) and just recently entered full production.
@@HiddenMachineGaming oh sick that’s pretty cool of rockstar I guess. Still wish they’d give back the ip to remedy but this is the next best thing though. Can’t wait to play it.
Thoughts on The Lake House dlc?
I expect it to further bridge the connections between AW and Control. Some leaks are out there, interesting stuff, but avoid them if you don’t want anything spoiled.
The army of haters will never not be hilarious 😂😂
lol I love that part
@@HiddenMachineGaming facts 💯💯 and awesome video BTW always hyped for these types of videos
Thank you!
🔥🔥
I have a genuine question...why does the dark place exist? I mean how was it formed?
I think these questions will be explored more in the Lake House DLC. The FBC has been studying the topic and that story thread is sure to go somewhere
@@HiddenMachineGaming might be..but I think Lake House wud be more focused on Dr. Darling
@@sagnikdas5982 Darling was the head of research, it is looking to me like his research somehow sent him to the Dark Place
@@HiddenMachineGaming understood..but then the exact ways to go into the dark place is not defined...one of the ways is the threshold. Also its strange how everyone who goes in the dark place or the multiverse meet Mr. Door
@@HiddenMachineGaming also I had some doubts
1. if both Cauldron Lake and FBC are a place for AWE then why are they both so different? Like why dosent the hiss exist in Cauldron Lake. I mean sure they have some similar qualities like controlling people's mind(Cynthia & Dylan) but still quite different
2. see a dark place being a simple entity cant have motive like controlling the world.
Perfect video 🔥🔥❤❤
Thank you!!
i noticed something change in remedy after control... they embrace everything come out from their community as lore as fact as fan fiction etc.... they choose goes in their own way and listen to their fans at same time too....and they even mocking ppl with idea majority of community says no its not true....in rose episode most ppl in community never thinks about maybe mr scratch is twin brother of alan wake and they wanted to inform us you can think about it too even we never wants going in this path in our main plot ..okkk dont let idiots say you are wrong ...thats why in last episode we will going in all phase of video game or movies creation...first is idea imagining then writing second one is sketch like 2d game we played next one is comic book full sketch second is level design design with low effort other act create places based on real life enviorment or visual in your mind then hire ppl for voice acting playing role etc and last one director make it real in one type of media...sam lake really loves his community and adore all of us
sorry for my ignorance, but I have a genuine question.
