The new Macan S is a really great do-it-all, go-anywhere sporty SUV: I've had mine since May '19 and so far driven over 7,000 miles, loving every minute.
It's my dream car.

I love the Macan! I just bought one and it's been the best SUV I've ever owned to date. Sporty, functional, and handles just like one would expect a Porsche to 🙌🏼

I think the Macan S with the adjustable suspension hight, slightly more off road oriented tires, and skid plate option would be my perfect daily driver.
I develop dual clutch transmission control software for a German OEM.
Quick downshifts are extremely hard. Especially when you are trying to do it on a budget.

You didn't mention that the refresh models do not use Porsche engines. They are all Audi/VW engines. The 2018 model S, GTS and Turbo were the last of the Porsche V-6 engines (the base using a VW 4-cylinder).
The S and GTS is a Porsche engine, the base is not. I’m almost certain of this
SUVs are just soooooo common that I'm starting to like these aggressive wagons like the RS6 more. Never thot that day would arrive, but it has.
RS6 is an amazing car

My wife bought one of these on Saturday (2020) - it's worth every penny. The Porsche dealer experience was fantastic as well.
If you're stuck driving an SUV, that'd be the one to have though I would rather have that RS-6 any day.

I'm looking forward to buying a Porsche Macan in a few years but will probably go with the GTS if I decide on the Macan for the fun factor, std options and higher resale. I will also look at the Cayenne as well and make a final choice. I think Porsche makes a statement no matter which one you buy. Good video and review as usual.

Like this engine in my Audi S4!
The S4 had 17lb ft of torque more and 6 more horsepower. Not big of a difference, but I want the S5 Coupé.
Just bought an audi s3 and I love it!
My Macan has a Audi A4 engine, not as good as the S but when you drive 50 miles a day the fuel economy is great! All you miss out is on speed, the regular Macans 6.2 0-60 isn’t too bad bad the handling and feel is still amazing!
V6s are kinda gross tho.
@Johnson Taylor unbalanced and most of them sound bad. They don't rev as nicely as an i6. They're really just for space saving.

Debating buying a 2020 S but the one I'm looking at doesn't have heated or ventilated seats -- nor does it have panoramic sunroof. Should I look elsewhere? It is a GREAT price, full warranty demo car from dealer. Let me know guys!
So glad it's not all digital especially that it doesn't have the digital cluster and it has all those real buttons in the center console

Nope, the Cayenne does. I'm pretty sure the Macan doesn't have enough/much tow capacity for pulling a vehicle.

I love wagons more than most, but I don't see why people get so bummed about not getting the RS4 Avant stateside when the Macan Turbo exists.
I have this exact car leaving aside a few options. I have the SD pack so the skirts and rear end are all blue but virtually identical. I have taken so much stick for the colour - I have been sent numerous "smurf" related links ! Just jealous I think ! So thanks so much for the love - both for the car (never in doubt) and the colour - more controversial. Circulating this video to all the piss takers.

I’ve had mine (2022) now for 2 months. It’s in Miami Blue and the color really pops along with the 21” wheels. Sticker was almost $92K. Here are my observations:
Pro’s - great acceleration and handling especially in Sport Plus. A GTS outfitted the same as mine would have cost $6k more and I really don’t see the benefit getting to 60 mph only .3 second faster. The 360 degree camera system is really nice with its sensor that activate whenever you get close to something while parking. Also, the PDSL+ head lights are the best I have ever seen. A pro and a con is that the front windshield goes very high to the roof which provides a lot of viewing area but also let’s in a lot of light, brightness and glare. You’ll use the dash visors often. I might add a brow to help with this.
Con’s - the worst of which is the tachometer and speedometer dials. Mine were standard with dark gray faces and lighter gray numbers and marks. Both dials are too dark in daytime and not easy to see the readings. A hood covers over both dials and it’s shadow makes it too dark in daytime. At night with headlights on they are backlit and look fine. If I had known this I would have paid extra for lighter colored dials. I really regret this as this issue upsets me every time I look at either dial. Other cons are limited interior storage room, front and rear camera views are wonky, I don’t like the views of the navigation screens and I wish the gas tank was a little bigger. The ACC sensor in the front grill is huge and therefore noticeable and looks like a big seeing eye! Finally I wish the horn could honk when locking the car with the fob. It would help finding the car in a big parking lot. There is no remote start feature so the fob only allows lock, unlock, rear hatch opening and a panic button.

I too love Miami blue! I actually wanted my Macan to be in that color as well... But someone in my house disagreed with that. As per usual in these situations, my Macan S is now the color we wanted, black! Damn it... Still in love with the car :)

Audi RS6 Avant shout out! That's up there with the E64 Wagon as my favorite, dream team wishlist daily driver.
Been shopping the last few weeks, ended up getting the GLC 43, overall better value for similar vehicles. Of course I don"t have the Porsche prestige but the driving fun is still there.

Great car! I had the pleasure to visit the Porsche factory near Leipzig/Germany (1h drive from my apartment) where they build all the Macans and Panameras. Very impressive. They build a lot by hand and test the cars very well, including a semi-hot lap around their own racing circut right outside the assembly line, they even have an off-road course. So you will never get a brand new Porsche from there with zero km on it or one that has never seen a track.

I test drove this a month ago, terrible turbo lag felt like 1 second.
There seems to be a direct relationship between launch control and smiling!
There is specifically a small coffee cup holder. Right one is specially designed for that.
But can't you take the insert out, and turn it around? Then the smaller cup-holder would be on the left if you wanted it to be.
I love the sound of the 2016 Macan S from the outside. However, i cannot hear it enough from the inside. I tried opening the windows but the wind noise overwhelms all the around. How is the new 2020 Macan S Yuri and Jakub?

my two cents.. I really would like to see doors covering the entire side of the car, Macan is high enough to do that. And, if you can turn heated and 'cooled' seats at the same time, that means they are not 'cooled' but just ventilated.
What do you mean about the doors?
@@dimitrisribery in multiple SUV you can find doors covering entire side of the car, from the roof to the bottom, part. so if you are going through a mud or puddles, there is no dirty bottom part so your trousers are clean even if you touch the car when you leave it.
The Macan is definitely one of the best crossovers on the market!

Just had a Cruise with Porsche True North and while driving around we hit Cliche corner! I was pleasantly surprised we found it :D. Great roads!
RS6 wagon is $100k. If Audi wanted me to buy a wagon, perhaps they should've gave us the real A4 wagon (sorry allroad) and the S4 wagon.

I don't believe the PCM software update to enable AA void your warranty. Unless you have an issue with your PCM, they can flash it back to Porsche original firmware (which you can reload your AA version afterward)
Porsche doesn't stand behind the quality of their vehicles. Transfer case on my 2015 Macan S has failed twice now in only 27,000 miles. This is a known issue which caused Porsche to extend their warranty to 7 ys. Their "improved" transfer case lasted only 2 years 2 months and 9,000 miles. I am out of warranty by 6 weeks and Porsche turns their back on problem and sticks me for $3,200 repair. Don't buy a Porsche w/o extended warranty for entire length of time you expect to own it. #1 rated warranty company - Endurance - won't even sell coverage on Macan. That should tell Porsche and all potential buyers something. Customer experience is far from an expected premium car brand experience.

Low mileage used GTS is the only way to go when it comes to Macans. The rest are way too overpriced compared to their competition.

Your kept saying that the buttons are gloss black. The center console and buttons are matte black, NOT gloss black.

Great review as always guys. I too am very concerned about Porsche dashboard redesign issues. And the sports cars getting TOO WIDE to place on a narrow to medium road at speed.

Long live the analog gauges and everything else that doesn't have all that electronic/tech garbage! It would have been nice if they didn't put that large piece of gloss black on passenger side dash area.

It's a great vehicle. A couple of peeves: There's definite throttle lag in regular mode - and sport mode is a bit too much for city driving. SiriusXM doesn't show previews of what's playing when you cycle through the channels ie you have to actually play a channel to see what's on
Digital screen across the whole thing would be better in my mind. That and get rid of the knob start key. Otherwise it's really nice.
Not a bad little upgrade from the 2015 Macan S I daily drive. I would still wait for the GTS though!
I have trouble seeing the macan for what it is rather than what it could have been. It sounds like a good crossover on its own, but it could have been the mother of all hyper hatchbacks if Porsche lowered it and took out some of the chunkiness that makes it a light truck. Sure, it would look less superficially "outdoors-y", but it would be better at what everyone is actually going to use it for without losing that spacious front-engine practicality. Maybe the result would just look like a short-wheelbase panamera, but wouldn't that be wicked fun? I guess the customer just wants a compact crossover more than a hot hatch with the same amount of space and better handling.
