  • In this video we will walk you through a step-by-step install of the ‪@unitronic‬ Catback exhaust install on our MK8 Golf R and give you a comparison to the stock exhaust! Compared to stock this exhaust gives a much deeper tone than the high pitched factory exhaust!

    For the $2000+ manufacturers are charging for minimal sound change, I'll just drop the stock and paint the tips black.

      might even just do a muffler delete and keep the valves and call it a day lol

    There is a video that shows the two cans (alleged resonators), right after the firewall going back, is just two empty gutted cans. Supposedly it is from the RS3, but in that platform uses resonators and/or cats. And to be fair, exhausts need to be broken in.

    Any chance you can include weight & dyno comparisons?

    • @BMPTuning

      That will more than likely be included in the next part as we did a downpipe as well!

    I feel like catback exhausts for the mk8s both gti and R, it doesn’t really change the sound as much compared the the 7.5 or 7. How can we get more of a girthy or louder sound?

    • @piotrwozniak7840

      By changing downpipe

    • @BMPTuning

      It's really hard to actually capture the difference on camera, unfortunately. It's definitely quite a bit louder, but definitely has a much deeper tone, and that's where the microphones don't really let it shine. But a downpipe definitely makes the biggest change!

      They definitely do for the new GTI’s. They don’t have the OPFs like these Golf R’s and last gen GTI’s do.

      @@shawnsabino3226 correct, not in this video! That video comes out soon, BUT our Pt. 3 video for the R series it does have the downpipe on it and you can hear it on the dyno. The sound is a little washed out by the rollers, but it gives a little sneak peek until the downpipe/catback combo sound video comes out!

    Unitronic or milltek road + for the Gti? I’m trying to decide

    • @BMPTuning

      Its really up to personal preference! Milltek offers a little more modularity to get the sound louder or quieter. Thats what we run on our GTI! We have a whole exhaust play list with a bunch of exhaust combinations for the GTI so checking those out might help some!

      @@BMPTuning milltek road+ is louder comparatively but quieter driving normally? I need louder but also with a muffler! Don’t want to go with the basic straight piped catback!

    Considering the cost of the system the difference is minimal. Down pipe is way to go

    • @BMPTuning

      Depends on goals, with the DP its substantially noticeable difference, but Unitronic designed their exhaust to be more of an OEM+ option for folks, there are certainly louder and quieter exhausts on the market for the R.

    Honestly doesn’t sound any different then stock…. Are the valves actually opening because if they are then the sound is still pretty quiet 😂

    • @BMPTuning

      Valves do function as intended, but on the R they are not open/closed only and open depending on throttle/load/mode/etc. - audio is def. harder to hear vs. in person, but the change is certainly more minimal than others on the market.
