Adding more evidence to Luffy’s connection to the sun god is that thanks to him, all the people that had their shadows removed by Gecko Moira were able to bask in the sun again.

honestly if Oda wasn't a mortal and he had way more years to live and always healthy, i can really see him writting One Piece for 2 or 3 more decades, in contrast to the 5-7 years he hinted that it will take him to finish the Manga because he really can't drag things more than that even if he wanted to.

I have been reading One Piece since it started release in Germany some 20 years ago, for the bigger part of my life actually. I find your videos to be incredibly helpful recapturing all the stuff that has happened in all those years. Unbelievable that one human being is planning und creating this vast world and everything fits so niceley together.

This year, I've made my M.A. in Religious- and Cultural Studies and one of the things I've learned is that some categories we use regarding are fluid, complicated and often do not have a universal definition. The category "God" is such an example. One of the reason why most fans of One Piece never considered "religion" to play a huge role in the series is because what we see often does not apply to the dominant "western Christian" understanding of religion.
For many people, a "God" is a celestial and transcendent being. Often something abstract and non-anthropomorphic. However, if we look at history and other cultures, a "God" can be many things. It can be some sort of species, being a member of a tribe or family, living in a specific place, having a biography and human like personality. Like the Norse Gods for example. Or they could be actual humans, often sovereign rulers, worshiped as Gods. My professor always says: "the first gods, were dead kings".
The Japanese term "Kami" is often translated as a "god". And while it may refer to celestial being, it can also refer to ghosts, spirits and even ancestors of families and tribes. If one keeps that in mind, the use of the term in the One Piece universe actually makes totally sense, regarding the cultural background.
Some classic philosophers like Thomas Hobbes and Jean-Jacques Rousseau even believed that ancient religion were primarily state religions, focusing on the worship of the sovereign ruler. Therefor, religion was throughout history a primarily political matter. In a certain way, the world of One Piece isn't just governed by an elite and privileged noble class. This is basically a cult, the cult of the Tenyruubito. Sorry for the long comment, I am a nerd.
This is an excellent observation and I’ve always believed that the lack of religion in One Piece is because the world government positions itself as god and indoctrinated 100s of generations over 800 year to believe that myth and as a result wiping out all native religions. So, much like you said, there is a religion in the world of One Piece: THE WORLD GOVERNMENT
No the reason is because the heavy budhist themes of one piece, the gods theme works great for Japan with heavy Buddhist history and culture not to mention references to Japanese gods so the west has little frame of reference.
You could literally substitute the words god and king, or chief and us in the west wouldnt see much change if any to the story

Also the fact that many western readers don't consider gods to be able to have more complex personalities and flaws like people. In most abrahamic and/or monotheistic religions God is portrayed as an omniscient all-powerful being that you aren't supposed to question. However if we take the Greek gods we see some that are "good" and nice but still can be egotistical while we can also see absolute power-hungry jerks. So Luffy being the enemy of God and simultaneously being a God doesn't have to be a contradiction if we take into consideration that One Piece has tyrannical Gods like the Celestial Dragon and Enel but also Gods that portray freedom, like Nika/Luffy/Joy Boy. This more nuanced approach can also be extended to people viewed as demons who aren't inherently evil. Like Robin for example. Or even Luffy himself is often referred to as a demon or the son of the devil. Not to mention the fact that he ate a devil fruit.
Also, just aside from this comment, I'm really glad to find another Cultural Studies student on here! I'm not finished yet but I will be writing my bachelor's thesis this upcoming semester! :)

The reason the World Government doesn’t want people to know the true history pertaining the void century is probably because the Ancient Kingdom had something the WG wanted and couldn’t have it
Here’s my speculation:
The Ancient Kingdom had the 3 ancient weapons LIVING BEINGS who COMMAND giant ancient creatures. The WG used their own sub-par technology to make their own COUNTERS to the weapons and over the years some names might have been lost or changed, since we know history is dictated by the victors and not the losers.
Which is why that “battleship” is the WG version and not the actual ancient weapon, it was passed down through burnable paper and not indestructible Poneglyphs.
The reason Roger was “too early” is because all 3 weapons weren’t born in the same era yet, Shirahoshi was still 4 years away, Momo was already born, Uranus could be someone we saw or not, but doesn’t change he fact only Momo was there.
Luffy, as a “Joy Boy candidate”, he’ll be the first one to unite all 3 weapons in the current era, the first time the weapons have all been born in the same era since 800 years ago.
Uranus is probably the egg on Rogers ship, thought to be a Roc which is a mythological hawk that fights serpents and dragons *cough* celestial *cough*. Luffy using Red Roc is another hint at it and it may have been left on Laugh Tale or Elbaf. Oh, and Uranus relates to the heavens so a flying creature makes sense

The egg could very well be a roc BUT a roc fits the criteria to be a “SKY KING”, just like actual dragons existed (or still exist and most likely stay in sky islands) as other said “sky kings”

It makes sense that Luffy is the current incarnation of the Sun God considering he'll be the ones to gather the ancient weapons. Pluton, Poseidon, and Uranus are all names of different planets in our solar system, and obviously, in the very center of our solar system, is the Sun.

Putting Blackbeard as the final antagonist doesn't only make sense when comparing him to Luffy, in our own history, It's said that the pirate era ended with the death of Edward Teach. He was one of the last great and feared pirates, and anyone that came after were too late to make a name for themselves. The British and Spanish Navy's also grew to such a size that pirates just wasn't a big problem anymore. I'd love for a romantizised ending to One Piece where, after the world goverment has been felled and replaced by let's say, a republic that stands for democracy, the era of pirates also comes to an end, with the Straw Hats either seperating to live out their own lives, or staying in one place and living out the rest of their days in peace.

This feels like a good time to once again point out the motif of the Monster Trio of the Straw Hat crew. All three have theming related to a figure in a religion/mythology that has or is prophesized to battle/destroy heaven/the gods.
Sanji has Diable Jambe which means "Leg of the Devil". The "Devil" in this case referring to the Christian Satan who is supposed to eventually wage war on Heaven according to the Bible.
Zoro has the whole Asura thing going on. And, Asura similarly wages war on heaven and the gods.
Luffy's is the hardest to pin down, but it's arguable that he has inspirations from Sun Wukong - a figure in Taoism(?) who wages war on heaven and the gods. The basis for that one being that Oda seems to have taken a lot of inspiration for Luffy from Goku who IS stated to have been inspired by Sun Wukong. It's definitely the most tenuous of the three. But, given all the symbolism of gods being the enemies of this world, it seems on point.

Another proof for luffy to be an incarnation of the fire god is that he could use the red hawk from ace with no fire power inheritated. Maybe his power has been sleeping until he lost Ace and is now getting stronger and stronger.
Zoro, Sanji and Katakuri are examples of people that have used fire powers that have no connection to a/their devil fruit.
