Thanks for jumping in and solid to hear you snagged a used f500 Elite. The joystick will definitely feel loose since it's a Sanwa and I find they generally feel more on the loose side compared to something like a Seimitsu. I haven't installed any 0.5mm washers but if you go with a 2lb spring (4lb may feel like overkill), you'll notice a major improvement. Friends of mine have also confirmed that it's a night and day difference after putting in a 2-pounder. Let me know if you need anything else!

Wow, that looks amazing. I have a Hori RAP V which I've upgraded with semitsu ls56 and sanwa buttons but they don't allow you to change the faceplate background. Using a screenshot is such a cool idea.
Hey, Pete! I appreciate you checking this out and sharing a little about your own. The Hori RAP V is a solid stick, but yeah - it’d be amazing if that one allowed for custom art. Glad you enjoyed this!
No worries, Dave! It's from FocusAttack. They have an option for uploading whatever image you want (on the specific arcade stick template they provide) and then they print/cut it for you. You've just reminded me that I want to get at an ordering tutorial since there are a number of specifics that you need to check off when ordering a custom print and I feel this would help people less familiar with the process. Have a stellar day!
Loved the video (and unboxing XD), I was wondering about the blue button on the right! I usually go with B/Y/X (Switch's nomenclature) for my thumb, index and middle+ring. Crazy how we all use slightly different configs (and likely not the ones that can be found in arcades).
Thanks so much SPM! I am really looking forward to doing more of these videos in the very near future. Yeah, so the bottom blue button is to fire, the blue button on the right side is the positional lock/focus shot and the blue on the left side is for activating hypers/bombs. It's more of less about the finger spacing and what feels most natural and comfortable on the Hori mini but yeah, I pretty much always use the same setup. Thanks again!
Hello I'm curious why you bought the elite version since you were changing the lever and buttons anyway. personally, I'm buying the elite because I specifically want the gray case, but I don't need the stock sawa parts at all
Great question! When I bought the Elite, I was mostly going for what I thought would be the best option and at the time, I didn't think I'd eventually swap things, otherwise I'd have totally snagged the non elite model. Enjoy the Elite when you get it and thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching! I ordered the print from FocusAttack. I’m aiming to do a tutorial video in the near future since the process is somewhat involved.
Just bought it and glad I got it instead of the 8bitdo over priced one for xbox. Just piggy back controller and it was good to go out of the box. Also picked up mk11 ultimate and injustice 2 legendary bundle for $9.99. Im so geeked.
I appreciate you jumping in to check this out! Stoked to hear you picked up a Mayflash. I just recently snagged MK11 myself but who knows when I'll get around to sampling it. Enjoy the stick and thanks for watching!
Great video Dace! Man that looks so good and it makes me want to customise my Mayflash too, but I'm kinda of stuck as I play fighting games and shumps and so different levers are better for the different genres lol I need too arcade sticks haha
Thanks, Shane! You could do some really awesome things with your Mayflash and I wouldn't be too concerned whether it goes one direction or another. As long as you’re pleased with the end result.
Great work! The Mayflash F500 Elite looks absolutely fantastic. In a few months I'll replace the buttons of my future Mayflash F500 V2. I guess it would be possible to do something similar combining Sanwa OBSC 30 mm, Seimitsu PS-14-K 30mm and Crown SDB-202C MX 30mm buttons, right?
Yeah, why not! I haven’t sampled Crown 202s before but wouldn’t mind getting some eventually. My Seimitsu LS 30 and 56 arrived the other day, so I’ll be replacing the Sanwa stick in this case and seeing how these all compare in the near future. Also, if you enjoyed this one, consider checking out my video on the Fusion by PowerA arcade stick. I did a vaporware style theme and love how it turned out! Thanks for popping by!
Great looking stick and I'm digging the art work. Do you intend on staying with the Sanwa JLF that comes with it? I'm curious because a lot of shmup players prefer Seimitsu levers over the Sanwa JLF.
Thanks, Psy! I wouldn't mind checking out a Seimitsu stick eventually. The JLF definitely doesn’t feel suited for Rolling Gunner specifically (too loose feeling whereas the Hori mini feels perfect). I haven't sampled too many other games with it because the mini is my go-to these days. Thanks for watching!
Probably a FAQ, but where did you order your custom artwork? Or is it possible in any way to make one myself? Because I have a Mayflash F500 Elite and I'm a graphic design student, I'd like to download the scheme myself and print it, or does the artwork require a specific material to be printed on?
Hey Nabbinside, thanks for swinging by. I got my art printed via FocusAttack. They provide templates for loads of arcade stick models and so you more or less use a program to place your image over the template online, then save the file and attach it to the order. You can certainly make one yourself and in that situation, the material would be whatever you want as long as it fits under the plexi of your Elite. I trust this helps! I decided to include the links to make things easier for you. Please see the following: Order page for an art print (specifically for the f500/f500 Elite: focusattack.com/artwork-print-and-cut-for-venom-ps4-mayflash-f500-universal/ So a couple of things to watch for when placing an order. First, they only accept so many custom prints per day so you'll need to make sure the remaining slots is not already at 0 - if it is, you'll need to wait until the next day and order before they run out again. Secondly, you have the option to specify a few things in relation to what they cut out. You'll see these things when you scroll down - stuff like button configuration (some people do the standard 8 button cut-out while others may only want 6), you can choose whether they cut a spot for the LEDs, the start button, and even subtle things like the holes being cut for Sanwa vs Seimitsu (since they are technically slightly different but not by much). I think what I'll do in the very near future is record a short video tutorial walking people through how to set up this order since it can feel confusing or uncertain at first. As for the template and throwing your art on - that will also be included in the tutorial. But for now, I'll type out a short explanation below... -Click on this link to jump to the Mayflash f500 template support.focusattack.com/hc/en-us/articles/207447753-Control-Panel-Templates#h_01EQYEYMTFS3RXS7XWETHNGWGF -You'll see "Venom PS4/Mayflash F500 Panel Template" in red font. Click on this to automatically download the template file. -No go back to the first link I gave you (the one for the art print order item itself). Scroll down until you see red coloured tabs. There will be one that says "Image Edit". Click on that and read the description until you see the name "Photopea" in red font. Click on that word and you will come to this screen: www.photopea.com/ -You will see the option to "Open from computer". Click on this and use the file you downloaded. This will load the template. From there, it's more or less a matter of dragging your desired art image over top of the Photopea screen and place it in the list on the left side where it says "Add artwork here". I'm no expert when it comes to editing programs so this may all be pretty standard for you but if you do have any other questions, don't hesitate to reach out and I'll see what I can do. When you are happy with things and everything is in place, etc. you save the file as a PSD (which is what FocusAttack recommends for accepting custom art print orders). From there the last thing you do is simply attach your PSD file to the order when you are able to place it. You can also check in with FocusAttack to ensure you haven't messed anything up. Also, if it helps and you're not in a rush, I am putting together an ordering process tutorial since a lot of people aren't sure about all of the options to select when ordering.
Thanks so much. I actually don't. It's a screenshot from one of my earlier sessions in Rolling Gunner on Expert difficulty. I'll also have another Mayflash art video going up next week, if interested.
Great question! I have never dealt with LEDs myself, but I've heard it's pretty straightforward. You can technically add them to pretty much any arcade stick provided you have a power source for them. Another thing to consider is how much of the LED lighting will escape the controller so you can actually see the effect. Trust this helps!
I ordered the print/cut service from FocusAttack, and there product description says "Artwork is printed on 10 mil cardstock sheet. It carries 95% brightness and tensile strength of 100 pounds per inch." I didn't read the entirety of the description, though, so there may be additional relevant information you're interested in.
The grey they chose for this Mayflash is absolutely horrible. Doesn't feel retro, doesn't feel modern. Black non elite version looks a bit better. Also grey buttons on grey stick? How did that idea pass the team meetings.
It's pretty astonishing that they went this route because any colour, black, or even white would be preferable to me. I love that the Mayflash f500 FLAT came with a solid-looking purple for the buttons. That's such a nice change of pace.
Thanks for popping by! I can definitely understand it if it was their intention to go for a retro look. With something like the 8bitdo arcade stick, it's full-on retro and very intentional. It's possible Mayflash was aiming for this look as well, though it doesn't strike me as intentional in the same way. @@NipplesOfDestiny

Thanks! I actually only have Switch, so I’m not really in a position to gauge RG on other systems. Let me know what you end up doing with your f500 when you decide on something.
what is the size of the start button? is it 24mm or 30mm?
It's a 24mm. Thanks for jumping in Cogumelo!
@@Shmuptopia do you know if we can use screw in instead of snap ip buttons in the mayflash f500 elite?
@@CogumeloMagico28 Yeah, you should be able to as there is a ton of free space inside. If you go to 12:27, you can have a clear visual of how much space is available.
@@Shmuptopia i just wanted to be sure because it's my first upgrade and my understanding is not alot.
@@CogumeloMagico28 I totally understand! I was in the same boat for a while - wanted to do something but at the time I had no clue where to start, what size parts, etc. Let me know if you need any help at all! Like product size list, how to order a custom print - whatever you need. On that note, I'm actually aiming to put together a tutorial video on how to order custom prints from FocusAttack since the process can feel confusing at first.
Hello, I just watched your video, I find it very creative with the colors and where did you buy all the accessories?? I'm curious if there will be more updates. Say thank you for your answer
Thanks so much for watching! All of the parts were purchased from the FocusAttack website. Are you looking to do a custom project at some point? Let me know if you ever need help with anything.
love it! ❤️
Thanks so much for watching, Aktar!
don't know at point of the video, but just askin how did you get this template man? i have an f700, can't just find a template for it. plan to photoshop it and retain the botton sign on top of the art.
The templates for tons of different arcade sticks can be found on the Focus Attack website. They have a repository and you'll find one for the f700. I'll share the link: focusattack.com/artwork-print-and-cut-for-mayflash-f700/
Let me know if you have any other questions! Also, if it helps and you're not in a rush, I am putting together an ordering process tutorial since a lot of people aren't sure about all of the options to select when ordering.
@@Shmuptopia oh t.y. man, checking website out
No problem at all. @@timdane6132
Do you have a download link for that artwork? It's awesome :)
Thanks so much. I actually don't. It's a screenshot from one of my earlier sessions in Rolling Gunner on Expert difficulty. I'll also have another Mayflash art video going up next week, if interested.
Looks great.
If you want black Get the f700 for a black case 💪
Thanks for checking this out! I actually reviewed the f700 a couple of weeks ago. Really neat model.
Is it possible to add leds and is it hard
Great question! I have never dealt with LEDs myself, but I've heard it's pretty straightforward. You can technically add them to pretty much any arcade stick provided you have a power source for them. Another thing to consider is how much of the LED lighting will escape the controller so you can actually see the effect. Trust this helps!
Very cool, what kind of paper did you print your art out on?
I ordered the print/cut service from FocusAttack, and there product description says "Artwork is printed on 10 mil cardstock sheet. It carries 95% brightness and tensile strength of 100 pounds per inch." I didn't read the entirety of the description, though, so there may be additional relevant information you're interested in.
Beauty eh'. (In Bob and Doug McKenzie voice circa Strange Brew 1983)
I’ll need to look that up now!
Thanks lot bro I just buy it.
Awesome! Enjoy the controller and thanks for stopping by. Let me know if you have any questions.
Believe it or not, slate grey is exactly on point in regards to retro electronics. Everything was either amber, brown or grey. Source: I am old.
