      thx I was wondering why we didn't see the fan...I guess we'll have to wait for actual use benchmark to know if it's enough, on the Z390 plateform the PCH becomes hot unless your case airflow is VERY good, since this one is supposed to run hotter, wait and see

    • @Luredreier
      @Luredreier 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@fredEVOIX Don't worry.
      Basically the VRM on this thing is so overkill that it doesn't need a heat sink at all.
      And that heat sink is *seriously* overkill for the VRM and chipset both.
      (There's a heat pipe running from the chipset to the heatsink of the VRM, so the chipset is essentially cooled down by the full VRM heatsink and it's the chipset that's going to heat up the VRMs not the other way around.)

    Thank you for standing behind Gigabyte, theres people out there who think Gigabyte is worse than MSI, and for me, someone whos been following hardware for more than 15 years, that just blows my mind. Gigabyte has gone down a lot in the years. The msi statement isn't exactly false. Just look at the aorus master board or its z270, z370 and x370 boards. They are pretty much riddled with bios breaking bugs and or vrm issues. Meanwhile msi has caught up a lot and you have boards like the msi godlike z390 I think it was and the x399 creation.

    Z390 was the big turn around for Gigabyte. I love my Aorus Z390 extreme board. Fantastic quality and features. Pricey but if you want special motherboard they have it going on. I’m a long term ASUS fan and I love what I’ve been seeing from Gigabyte lately. Grabbing one these for my Ryzen system. The light show isn’t nearly as impressive on this though as my Z390. I’ve always liked this stealth kinda look though so I still appreciate the design here a lot.

    Very happy to see you've got this one, Tom!
    This is definitely the board I'm getting. For one, it's entirely passively cooled (no fans!) which is a hallelujah moment in and of itself, and besides that it really does check every box I can think of. The only negative I see before-hand is that it's going to cost a small fortune. Doubtful I'll care. :)
    Let's hope Gigabyte's BIOS revamp is a good one, as that's traditionally where they've been behind everyone else, pretty much. I read through the manual and what is shown there looks fairly promising, so please do show us how the new BIOS looks once you get to the review.
    Oh, and Tom, can I please request that you test this with 4 DIMMs populated? I'd really like to put 4x16 into it, not sure how well that'll work, clock-wise.. Thanks in advance.

    • @Luredreier
      @Luredreier 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trust me, water is a complete and utter waste on this thing.
      The VRM on this thing doesn't even *need* a heatsink, it would cool perfectly fine even on LN2 overclocking on air just passively from the surface of the VRMs alone.
      The heatsink really isn't there for the VRM, it's there for the X570 chipset during PCI-E 4.0 workloads.
      With this thing being the only x570 board I know of so far with passive chipset cooling (through that heatpipe up to the heat sink)
      Your CPU is going to melt long before the VRMs or chipset is going to get lukewarm if you stick to water or air...
      And quite frankly I'm considering this board for a 100% passive build (no case fans, CPU fans or GPU fans) in part because of that.

      This is easily the best board, nobody can compete with this for now, especially since this is the only board with passive chipset cooling. However, Gigabyte's software is probably still a mess, but if you can tolerate it, this is the best choice. Honestly, it might even be cheaper than its competition looking at previous Gigabyte boards. Not that it's not expensive though, probably still costs a ridiculous amount. Crosshair Hero/X570 Master/MEG X570 Ace are probably the best choices, with the X570 Master being the best of the 3 in terms of VRM (Same VRM as the Xtreme)

    It COULD be an ASUS killer IF Gigabyte spent as much time and R&D into building a decent BIOS like they did with the rest of the board.
    If their BIOS is just the regurgitated Z390 BIOS then it's gonna be a waste of great hardware. Being serious here, Gigabyte really needs to work on their software side of things, it's lacking way behind the competition in many areas.
