After watching your video, I'm pretty sure now I'm going with the in-channel option to try. I too was weary about the adhesive. Changing it out on my CRV was a pain. Left quite a bit of the adhesive on the door trim to scrape off. Plus I have a 2 week old Tacoma and don't want that to happen to it too. So..... thanks!

The only negative I’ve heard about these are from some users who indicate they’ve had problem with rear ones coming off with the windows down while traveling at highway speeds. That part really doesn’t concern me. There are maybe a handful of times in a given year that I have the rear windows down while I’m driving anyway. These look like a solid product and look very sharp on the Tacoma.

They were the first things to go on mine. The halfway down is to help guide the front of the deflector into the slot. This was the third set I'd installed -- I had them on previous vehicles -- so they went on with ease. My only gripe was that I had to have them send out a replacement set. They could do a better job of packing, IMO, because the first set arrived shattered.

The area in the front that comes all the way down to the bottom of the window, did that get in the way of your view at all for seeing the mirrors or just seeing through that small space on the driver side between the pillar and mirror or bothersome at all? I just got a brand new 22 Taco Pro and can't decide between the AVS or Weathertech. AVS only way to go....they will loosen up in the window tracks and rattle happened on my Ram. Don't even think about taken them out and reinstalling them. Additionally the routered tab that fits in the widow track is so thin it can crack and break off and fall into your window mechanism. Happened to me on a Ford 150. Guess what you have to do then? I put the AVS on my new 22 Tacoma outside the window foam trim on the door frame....just fine. Had this system on my 2004 truck and lasted 10 years before replacing the adhesive. Yea long winded response.

  • @roadeomagic

I'm going to have disagree Rob. I've had these and lost one of them. It just came right out of the channel. Also, they do sort of "rubbing" issues on the window in the long run. I came across Well Visors. They're wider than most, wasn't sure if I was going to like them, but I really do. You can open the window wider and it keeps out all the rain. They secure on the outside with 3M tape but also clips, doesn't mess with the paint on your door. Even though I know you got the WeatherTech, just have them a look see. 😉

I think I did them right. Maybe it's because I haven't waited the 12 hours to let them cure or whatever.@@RobMotive

@richf9608 I waited a couple of days. If you’re in a cold climate, adhesion may be an issue too.

I've had window deflectors on my truck for 2 years now and for the life of me I don't know why. I don't think they make the truck look better and I don't think I use them for their intended purpose which I'm not exactly sure what that is. I use to think they were so I could smoke on rainy days but I haven't smoked for 12 years. So why do I have these? Can someone tell me? lol
