So, not knowing left from right is a neurological difference. Some people may just be lost in thought, but even if I were looking you in the eye, I wouldn't pick up on what you meant. Please don't make fun of us, some of us really can't help it. 😥

One of the things I’ve struggled with is trying to stay in my own space and not compare myself to others. There are a lot of people who have been doing yoga for years and years that make it look so easy. I have to just learn to focus more on my breath and what my body is doing. It’s becoming easier each time I go but it’s definitely a challenge for me. That’s a challenge in my life outside of yoga too, so I understand exactly why it is happening. I love the way I feel after yoga though!

    My 5 tips are :
    1. Find a good yoga teacher.
That was a game changer for me and made me wanna Come back for the next class.
Importent to find one that can show what to do if you cant bend/go that low in a pose, so that you can adapt the pose to where your body is today.
    2. Dont look how deep other can go in a pose, you are not There to compare to other but to work on your own body and we are all different.
    3. Be in the moment, let the Day go and focus on the class/the moment and the feeling, and listen to your body through out the class.
    4. Dont eat before the class and if you have to, eat something Light.
Some poses, you Will really feel you get limited by having a stomach full of food.
    5. Patient.... You wil not get more flexibel because you done a few weeks or months of yoga.
Extra tip.... Try out the different yoga that exist.
There are ones that we often see at the gym which is more of a flow and we Also have yoga where you Also sit 3-4-10 minutes in a pose.

In real yoga, you have to study with a Master Yogi for at least 20 years before you can ever teach and there is a REASON FOR THAT. I started yoga at 18 with a teacher who would become the yoga teacher of the US Olympic Team. I was so blessed to have the best right from the beginning with all my poses. You know why? Because she kept our BODY, BONES, and BACK SAFE with each yoga pose. I brought this knowledge into any class over the next 40 years because I saw no teachers doing it (even if they had been teaching for 10-30 years). This is why at 62, I can do yoga without any back or spine pain because I protected my spinal chord with the "right pressure and tenseness needed from my muscles" to protect each pose. The MESSAGE HERE IS regardless of what teacher, learn from the best and most experienced if you are new to yoga. Then you can self regulate with any teacher.

Although I'm not a total beginner, I have only being doing yoga for the last year after a long break and it was good to be reminded of all the things you mentioned. One that really resonated for me is your tip that if you don't like the pose then it's highly likely that that is the one you need. It is so true! And the tip about holding the poses just a bit longer than is quite comfortable (but not damaging!). Slowly we become stronger. Thanks for this post.

Go through her playlists are you’ll definitely find something. I would start with the under 10 minute practices and you can do a couple of those a day to see what you like. I totally get that, and thanks for your comment! I was just using that particular instance as an example. I can usually tell when a student is confused about their right and left and when they’re listening to their own thoughts instead of my instructions. Just a quick tip, if you hold your index and thumb in an “L” shape, the side that looks like the letter “L” is your left ;)

Same I’m super skinny but I’m trying to eat a lot now (of a balanced diet) and I do some yoga daily. This may help you gain some lean muscle and depending on yoga or an actual workout keep your tummy small while you eat more. I don’t think yoga can actually make you gain weight but using it while eating a certain diet can help.

@@elisesatter1473 no yoga does not help you gain weight. Include weight training or simple body weight exercises that will definately help you increase your hunger and gain weight. Finish your training session with yoga which will help you to relax your body as well as your mind. Comment for more queries

@@elisesatter1473 look up Greg doucette, and it sounds like (I’m assuming anyway) you want to build muscle if you want the best results I’d recommend tracking your calories to eat at a slight calorie surplus(again assuming a lot since I don’t know your goals) 200-500 calories over what you need to maintain your weight, that’s it calories in vs calories out.
