This would be the ultimate party boat for guys only! Aaaah, the owner's berth right behind the engine. I guess the rhythmic vibes of the diesel engine helps you fall asleep. _So charming and rustic!_ Also I wouldn't call that a seteé. It's "the place to chow-down". You'd have to be a welder to make any changes to the layout of this boat. The price is awesome, but the boat... LOL, I can't believe you said "the stuff of dreams". I would say "the stuff of strange and bizarre nightmares". It reminds me of being on "The Nostromo" from the first "Alien" movie. It probably has a self-destruct system as well. This boat is a commercial boat, and not made for luxury in any way, shape or form. It's strictly utilitarian. But, for someone with the know-how and proper tools, it could be converted into a tough-as-nails mega cruiser. This boat is so water tight, you could probably sail right through a hurricane - no problem! "Go around the storm? Hell no, we're plowing right through"! The passengers probably wouldn't even realize it if you keep them drunk enough. My first priority would be to build a bar!🍸 🍺 If I had the money in the bank right here and now, I'd definitely buy it!
Want to impress your friends, buy this boat and learn to dock it singlehanded. 40 ton steel boat with a single engine, and I don’t see a bow thruster mentioned? For sure a cool little ship that can go to any latitude.
I love schooners man. I am a bit surprised at her draft, I would have thought it would be less but she probably does incredibly well to windward given her other dimensions.
@@TheOverproof151 I have sailed 3 of them. 2 were like 155' in length and the other 110'. All three (the Dana, the Cook and the Freedom) were berthed at the Harry Lundeberg School.
As someone else has said, privacy would be hard to have down below. I am also wondering about the lighting below decks. It seems to me that day or night you'd have to have lights on down there. That draws power from the batteries if the engine/generator isn't on. Also that oven/stove may have been gimbaled bow to stern but it couldn't have pivoted starboard to port. So, either this boat is very "flat" while sailing or things don't get cooked while underway. Other than those things it was an interesting craft.
Interesting boat and approved to be used for charter is probably the main reason the price is as high as it is. The downside to this boat I think , is the very small helm area and the lounge area downstairs . Love the rig layout and ease of handling . Thanks .
I think you just found my live a board, what a beauty, and speaking as a Cornishman, a good Cornish name too. (Treworg(e)y). Must be a good story behind that name getting to America. Just need the lottery win now....
The boat is all as you say! The price is most likely way below original price but it’s still expensive. Unless you plan to use as a charter boat the sleeping bunks would not be good for a smaller group of 4 to 6 folks. I would also want stand up showers vs wet ones as it has. With the price where it is stated, would only be the starting price but if you started off as a charter vessel you can put off remodeling for private use. It is an awesome and looks to be a very safe and well maintained boat!
Wow I like that I think the Price is Quite resonalble By the looks of it , it looks like its Well Maintained , and thats the Most important thingy You Could Provide your self a Income while you Cruse the World , Love it Thanks For the Tour
Boy she is a big girl ! The interior is basic and simple but it is a "working " boat . It might be a tough charter boat because I think people want it to be a bit fancier . I really liked the engine room and all of the watertight hatches and safety features galore ! Good job with the tour .
This is a proper mini tall Ship ...I like the Portuguese bridge deflector for the deck ahead of the pilot house.. like the build it shouts this boat can withstand a N Atlantic winter storm or passing the Capes.. but would need a crew without some automation of the sails... On a par with Alluring Artics ..Exlorer Yatch Theres a hand rail and step over port side..of the piolet house and starboard could be converted to have a forward swinging door for fast forward access as per Portuguese bridges. Perfect for an explorer family live aboard.. lovely traditional style vessel. At that price compared to whats available new ..its seems a great buy for a lifetime afloat. The steel alone would probably cost more currently. Minor tweaks and you have a superb live aboard to start with that can take you anywhere 🌐⛵ The magnetic compasses say it all ...kitted with big steel ⚽s 😍😉😁 lol. I could also see this become a marine conservation/whalewatch/scientific platform for a maritime studies Group.
The salon could definitely be remodeled if it was a live aboard for two. But for charter looks good cramming them in makes money.. I sure as heck hope it has bow thruster Captain Ron I am not :)
Obviously the boat is not set up for "yachting". The limited space for privacy is not a concern for working crew i imagine. I wonder how many would be required to sail this boat? All the rigging is traditional and would require some hands to hoist the sails. As a scuba charter where do the passengers hang out on deck during passage? Sit on the boxes? I'm not experienced in boats like this one and so please help me understand. I really would like to know. I'm sure I missed something. And the main salon head was a masterpiece for sure. Thanks for sharing this beautiful boat.
I would love to see you guys do a walk through of a Explocat 52. It seems to be the perfect cat. Way beyond my means or that of normal people, but still something I would like to see.
Cool. I like watching these even though i will never own more than a row boat. I like anyone that can make a living creating and maintaining beautiful fishtanks.
Schooners can have up to seven masts, but typically have three: fore, main, and mizzen. The foremast is shorter than the mainmast and is closer to the front of the boat, while the mainmast is closer to the back. The sails on each mast have their own names. The two masts on a two-masted schooner are called the foremast and the mainmast, with the mainmast usually being taller. The foremast is the forward mast, and the two masts can be of equal size or the mainmast can be higher
I recognise this boat as the one I sailed from Spain to the USA via Tenerife and Trinidad back in 1999. There were only a few of these made and I know its this one as I remember cutting down the Bowsprit with a jigsaw in the boatyard. It has gone through a great transformation since then as it was a very basic dive boat back then. Good to see its still floating and looks like it will for many years to come.
Bu ta ful, this awesome find is one in a few that could actually work out for a family for years to come and the opportunities it has to offer opens the doors only limited by ones desires… thanks for sharing it’s one of my favorites too, take care be well and wish I had money like that to buy it, this one really gives someone the chance to change their life and dreams…
I must agree with you sir, this indeed a fantastic SHIP(boat)! I can just imagine the earning potential as a charter, with more than enough berths for a large group.
I think it’s more of a work boat not a sailors sailboat. I’m not sure if the certification is transferable to a new owner. The buyer maybe required to bringing it up to code. That could be expensive. But it’s a pretty boat.

A boat can be for what ever purpose you put it to. In this case it has served as both cruiser and a charter boat. You configure it for what it needs to serve its purpose.
Great steel hull vessel. It would be easy to think 'she' was indestructable, especially from some of the comments but we all know much bigger vessels have founded on reefs and sunk. As for functionality, a omplete refit would be necessary in the region of maybe $100 to $150k to make this a proper live aboard cruiser. Ok as a commercial vessel as is but to expensive with all the refit work needed. Thanks for the tour.
Once Starlink (or another satellite Internet) comes online and is affordable, I’m going to really start looking at boat like this for a new home. I will be able to work remote and sail the world.
A friend and I have been joking about using short-range radio for a networking layer, each buying a boat, and running a small datacenter spread across the flotilla for redundancy. 🤣
Last I checked, The initial Starlink systems will not allow roaming. You register a geographic address / location and you can’t move the system much. Maybe they will allowing roaming at a later time, but no promises yet.
Its probably 4seasons insulated that works both ways and has no portholes currently by the look but lots of ventilation .. air con shouldn't be an issue if it hasnt as you could fit stand alone units in each living area. Plus you can build a seawater heat exchanger system in that engine room. DIYSolar thermal heat ing panels on deck and you can build up shower hot water for use all day .. wind turbines aft ....noise wont be a problem with this beasty.
Wow, so a boat with a limited commercial capability. What I mean by this is the draft is too deep for many places in the Caribbean, but if you moved it up to the inland passage area of Canada, and set it up for taking people out for fishing over a two week period, then I can see the appeal. A lot of work has gone into it, but so much would have to be undone depending on how you want to use it. For a family, while underway, there is only room for one, maybe two, in an area where they would not be subject to wind and rain. Everyone else would be on deck in the full elements. In Florida, not a big deal most of the time. Everywhere else it is a bigger issue. Overall, a nice boat with a confused purpose.
It is missing a cockpit. People would have to sit on the life jacket boxes or on the deckhouse. On a boat that big there should be somewhere with a proper large comfy cockpit with deep seats with back support and outside steering. Other than that, she's nice. I'm not sure I like the lay-out with the circuitous route to the pilot house having to go through the engine room to access it or climb over that giant coaming to get to it - especially if that is the only way to get to the helm! There should be doors built in to that coaming and additional outside steering.
Yes it's in decent shape for its age, but how many hours on that engine since it's last rebuild? Also it's just more Spartan than I would find comfortable.
This vessel is a monster for it's footprint and just an amazing ship for someone wanting to be able to sail but also make a living if they so choose. How much does it cost to go diving for a weekend or a week from a vessel like this? That would have a lot to do with the price as it looked like some electronics could definitely use some updating and as you mentioned solar w/lithium upgrade could be huge. Both in cost and benefit...
On any two masted Schooner the main mast is the larger aft sail and the foremast has the smaller secondary sail. I would have to rebuild the owners quarters and shut it off from the smells and fumes of the engine room. The purpose of this boat would have been better on a catamaran. Schooners don't make good dive boats IMHO, they make excellent tour boats or live aboard vessels if you like mono hulls. I love schooners and fast catamarans!
About $260,000 if it passes a survey. Needs about another $50,000 to make it look real nice including the engine room. And for my own taste, another $15,000 for a bow Thruster and an AC. I definitely do not like the self tacking jib so I would change it for a bowsprit mounted roller furled Genoa and another roller furled jib. I would redo the owner's cabin and the main cabin and I would throw away about 2 tons of junk in the boat. The condition of the sails is unknown. Otherwise I love the old sail ship flavor.
Very nice boat don't know about stove and oven placement kind of a no brainer and the price is way too high have you seen what kind of vessel you can buy for that money it is a steel charter schooner max a smart person would pay because it has been well kept 120,000 max and that depends on the quality of steel and the welder
Look at the opening drone shot and you will see the ladder-like apparatus that lowers into the water from the main mast for launch and recovery of the divers.
Perhaps I am incorrect but I thought it would be, from bow to stern, fore mast, main mast and mizzen. Or fore, main and aft. I would love to know the answer too!
Foremast is the forward most mast (largest or smallest). Main mast is largest, mizzen is smallest. The foremast is the mainmast on a ketch, and the mizzenmast on a schooner.
If I bought it, and I think the asking price seems fair, although I'm confidant that there's room for negotiation, I would retire it from commercial charter duty and convert it to a live aboard for my wife and me. I would completely gut the interior, enlarge the galley considerably ... remodel and expand the salon with a state of the art entertainment center, convert it to dry heads, verify that it has A/C, which I would install if it didn't ... add portholes to the hull ... remove all the dive equipment from the stern and convert that into an outdoor lounge area with sugar scoops if possible ... create aft space for two water craft with a crane ... add many solar panels ... remove and store (offsite) the interior bulkhead doors ... I would also remove the deck mounted bulkheads on either side of the pilot house .... I would clean up the fore deck to create a large lounge area for socializing and tanning .... the possibilities are endless ... I think it would make a terrific live aboard!
Well, not my cup of tea. It is designed to pack people but where are you going to entertain? There does not seem to be a lot of seating option. They could remove the bunks near the galley to offer a social area. The best parts are the heads which look more inviting than the rest of the boat.
Do you guys have content on another platform I will no longer be using TH-cam or anything google but I would like to keep watching your content. Have you thought about DTube
Like it but over 50' foot is more going through the Panama canal. Why didn't America insisted on American free passage through. Before relinquishing control ?
I'm scared of steel boats. I know this guy who bought one that was at the boat yard getting bottom paint. She was beautiful and looked like it had been kept up in A1 condition. The guy got the boat surveyed and it passed. He bought it for $28,000, a steal until he put it in the water and it leaked like a sieve. To make a long story short, the surveyor got off the hook because he testified that it is impossible to know the full condition of a boat, especially a steel boat that has all sorts of nooks and crannies. The surveyor had experts to back him up too. The last time I saw the boat it was 3 years after the sale and it was still at the boat yard. Too expensive to fix, and no one would buy it knowing it's true condition.
0ne I looked at was 65' but had solar wind and diesel generator 200 hp Cummins main drive 100hp Detroit diesel generator. 300 watt solar 150 watt wind hundred gallon black water hundred gallon gray 200 gallon fresh water fresh wgater maker 75 gallons a day.2" steal bow 1& a half keel. 6 water tight doors 7:😮 sleeping capabilities for 9 schooner.
There are plenty of 100yr old steel hull vessels around in Dutch German and British waters....if the steel is right and its been maintained well. As this has a working ship ticket plus its general state of care topside bodes well enough a dive on the hull would soon tell. As for heating its probably pretty well insulated being an expedition vessel with a steel hull or you would see condensation damage.. As for the inside you can set it up as you need - you can tell that from the way she's set up now. Functional and comfortable... nothing looks as out of fashion as a fashion.
Looks nice but for 92K ton, this is really heavy boat and the design inside just different, depend on purpose used for. Personally, I think by it's age this boat will never be sold at the asked price.
This would be the ultimate party boat for guys only! Aaaah, the owner's berth right behind the engine. Oh ! Forgot it had a pilot house and rear healm with wheel gages motor transmission controls. And $ 20,00 dollars on boat Angle.
Like to see you take it out for a sail and make a video. Let see what the owner says.
It's called a salon, not a saloon. This is not a bar in the old west.
Nice boat. Wish you'd have your glasses anti-reflex coated though...
I feel like some wood flooring in the top deck would really bring up the appeal and make it look less commercially
Come check out a Super Maramu on the east coast.
Well, not my cup of tea. It is designed to pack people but where are you going to entertain? There does not seem to be a lot of seating option. They could remove the bunks near the galley to offer a social area. The best parts are the heads which look more inviting than the rest of the boat.
Yea and no seating or cockpit on deck?🤔
It's a Salon...
Not a Saloon
What's the headroom in that galley?
Can u show us ur camera, it was ittybitty.
Cant see the year built and like you said Homey , Rustic but at that price , Homey and Rustic wont cut it
Great ship Randy, that’s not a boat. It looks impeccable on the outside.
Do you guys have content on another platform I will no longer be using TH-cam or anything google but I would like to keep watching your content. Have you thought about DTube
whatssapp crew! IS THIS BOAT FOR SALE ?
Whats that big metal thing on the port side?
It’s a ladder for scuba divers to board the boat easily. It goes deep in the water and is sturdy with hand rails on both sides of the ladder.
Can you crew a ship like that with just two people? Just curious 🤔
yes- its possible

What's the biggest boat that can be singlehanded ?
@@3-DtimeCosmology I think a Bermudian rig + 36ft hull
I can't find the sale details.
Nice, but I don't see anywhere near $349,000!!
Potential for Antarctic tourism?
0ne I looked at was 65' but had solar wind and diesel generator 200 hp Cummins main drive 100hp Detroit diesel generator. 300 watt solar 150 watt wind hundred gallon black water hundred gallon gray 200 gallon fresh water fresh wgater maker 75 gallons a day.2" steal bow 1& a half keel. 6 water tight doors 7:😮 sleeping capabilities for 9 schooner.

Hell: Wish I had the cabbage! She'd be mine!
Nothing like the security of a steel hull. Makes sleeping easier. Lol
Love the water containment construction. Yea! I'd feel real safe on this sweet boat.
$350K is high given: 1) Age 2) Age 3) Age 4) Gaff rig 5) Missing heater 6) Missing dingy
