Loss of gloss is normal when you apply these type products to a highly polished surface. Even though they don’t claim cure time, if you take another gloss reading 48 hours later the gloss number usually goes back up. Good video.
While it didn’t add gloss, I will by that turtle wax just for the feel! Nothing in the world after that final wipe and running your hand over that cool slick surface.

very cool bought the Meguiars after your last video and I must say its truly insane the gloss.. also the trigger on that meguiars is pretty misty too unlike the regular ones
How about putting the new TW Minute Wax against the TW Pure Shine? The Minute Wax is $9 and has flerasol(?) sprayer. And how about comparing the Walmart Platinum Series Twist Loop drying towels against a similar towel? They are 87/13 but they feel similar.
The McGuires Ultimate detailer is amazing. I buy them for the sprayer tops alone - they spray so nicely and an even mist. Plus 24oz bottle for $12 is good value
bought it last week but have not yet tried Meguair's Ultimate Detailer at the same time got Adam's and have given Adam's Detailing Spray the pink stuff a try and it looks good. In August 2023 at Advanced Auto Parts they have 50 percent off you get any Meguiar's Ceramic spray and Ultimate Detailer is half priced.
Lol just bought the newer TW quick detailer, smells good, awesome atomized power sprayer trigger. Haven't even watched the video and I already know this is going to be an real review.
Get Mequiar's, it produces a darker enriched color tone, don't have to worry about overspray because spray onto microfiber cloth, and it is cheaper by $6. Hydrophobic is pretty much the same. Durability IDK. Mequiar's will look like many of your other spray bottle products with an oblong shape vs Turtlewax oval/circular bottle. Could be better off with Adam's Detailing Spray because these here don't really make your vehicle glossier or shine as proven with the light meter. Thanks, Josh for the comparison and results.
The Forensic Detail channel has long ago proven that while visually some of these products look like they enhance gloss, that based on meter readings they actually lower the gloss level as per the meter. Which makes sense. If you're adding a product in between the layers of paint and the sensor, it acts as a light blocker. However the meters can't account for Human visual perception...
Malco showroom shine has been around for a long time it's great my experience with putting it on vehicles has been that I can actually see a color change to the paint when I apply it
yeah that's normal. polished virgin clear coat is usually glossier than anything. there are some coatings , waves the do improve shine and increase gloss meter readings but it'll take a few hours to micro level n cure first. also because almost all coatings sealants waxes have done kind of pigments in them that absorb light instead of reflect it.. this is why just polishing the paint gives biggest increase in gloss over anything else. great video Josh. you're the man.!

Ultimately I went with the turtle wax because you can apply it over any coating, even streaking aside it seems meguairs has more polishing agents in it which could damage coatings, although i don’t know that for a fact. I will admit it does leave a glossier look though which is too bad
i like the idea of the extra protection with the turtle wax since i live out here in vegas and no matter what i do to pop my gloss its all for nothing since an hour outside and i have half the desert wortth of dust on my car dulling the gloss anyways
The difference is almost unnoticeable on my white car. Paste waxes, carnuba, synthetics, they all make a screaming shine. Polishing is demanding. Mercedes clear coat is very hard. I did Turtle graphene yesterday. It feels smoother than glass. Half of the hazies disappeared.
Thank you Josh and greeting from Australia I've now made up my mind I'll definitely order the Meguiars one online and shipped here simply because I do have some slight slight swrils in my car's paint work that can only be noticed in intense sunlight I'm very happy that they thought of that making a paint super glossy and filling in light swirls 2 birds one stone.

Yea I think because it has a layer of something on top of the paint it is effecting the reflection back in to the sensor of the meter. So even though it’s better visually, the meter is having issues picking it up
Really appreciate this review. I love Meguiars products and was really concerned about applying their Insane Shine Paint Glosser over my ceramic coat due to their warning of streaking. Thanks for testing that part its given me confidence to try it out.

@@richscott2483 I havent tried much of Adam's stuff besides the wheel and tire cleaner, it's great. But since my comment I've been using the Meguiars Ceramic Detailer and the Insane Shine with awesome results on a burgundy/red car.
I’m not sure how gloss meters work internally, but I presume it has something to do with measuring reflectivity as light bounces off the paint/panel and hits the sensor. Also, I wonder if the filler ingredients of gloss enhancers/waxes/sealants/etc cause light to refract (shift/bend) which may explain the decrease in values. To the naked eye a treated panel may appear “glossier” but that could just be the result of looking at it from various viewing angles whereas the meter/sensor is very concentrated. Like I'm just trying to think of possiblities but if they measure the time for a light to bounce back or the intensity of light bounced off a surface and what percentage of a dispersed light is returned into the sensor vs how much is lost, then it feels like adding depth to the reflection may actually result in a lower number. I bought a black 2021 used 4runner that is currently not ceramic coated but will be by the end of the year. In the meantime I have been using Chemical guys Butter wet wax. Would one of these or even the other spray you typically use work with the wax? If so I assume it is better to apply wax then the protectant sprays?
Butter wet wax provides lots of shine but doesn’t last long. Maybe a month. There are spray wax sealants than can last 6 months plus + turtle wax seal and shine is one excellent product at any price point. Typically I like to wash and prep my car. Use a good wax something like turtle wax ceramic plus graphene paste wax or flex wax. Then seal the car with a sealant. Those should be good for 3-6 months. Then when I wash my car by hand once every 2 weeks or so I will use a spray wax to “ top it up “ and when I see the water beading start to reduce significantly I do it all again. Sounds like a lot but if you commit 2-4 hours a month you car will look great on a regular basis for a long time. I don’t watch sports for instance I’m a car guy just think of it like the time it takes to watch one football game a month you can care for your car.
@@imjoshv do you think the Pure Shine would perform better if a Turtle Wax polish was used. Thanks and I love watching your work. Greetings from Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬

Interesting! Thanks I’ll check that out. Again the gloss number from a gloss meter don’t mean everything. In my previous test p and s dream maker have the biggest gloss enhancement by numbers on the meter but had the least visual effect to the eye
Well logically adding another layer of product for light to pass through should reduce glossiness on a level surface. Seems like these products would work best on a surface that hasn’t been polished in awhile.
@@bobstorr4986 I saw a podcast with the Turtle Wax R & D guy, & he said the TW product used here can be layered and will increase the gloss over time. That’d be an interesting test.
They definitely look better visually but I think the light sensor in the gloss meter is probably picking up that something is on top of the paint and it’s distorting it’s reading. For me the visual impact is the most important. I did a test with these two and some other products as well and one of the products had the highest increase in the gloss meter but to the eye it was the least impressive

Turtle wax is Pish, fact !
Great teview
Thanks
Mists like furniture polish
Pure Shine not worth it. Not enough gloss and not enough protection. Stuck in a middle ground where it doesn’t really do anything great.
24 hours cure time is required
Man, between this, Chris Fix, and Pan the Organizer, I might actually learn how to do something constructive and not waste a bunch of money.
Get to the good stuff already lol 😆
could you say again 50 more times
These products are getting paid off a name 😂 how did you loose gloss 🤔
They definitely look better visually but I think the light sensor in the gloss meter is probably picking up that something is on top of the paint and it’s distorting it’s reading. For me the visual impact is the most important. I did a test with these two and some other products as well and one of the products had the highest increase in the gloss meter but to the eye it was the least impressive
Inconclusive
I’d like to see your opinion on the new Turtle Wax Minute Wax.
