Slovenia is the most under-rated country I have been to in Europe. The food (think Burek), the nature and, the architecture (in Ljubljana) were so amazing! My favorite part was probably the people who were so friendly and curious, and not tired of tourists like so many other touristy small places. I am planning on doing a slower Euro-trip this summer and spend a month each at 3 of my favorite cities in Europe, and I want to spend a month in Ljubljana 😊😊
Travel On Fire žganci are made from buckwheat flour mixed with other flour types, they are boiled in water for 15 min and then crumbled on a plate, I usually add some milk and sugar (or honey) because i like them sweetened. Kranjska klobasa is a sausage and it is the best sausage I’ve ever had.
Traced my wife’s genealogy back several generations We went to Rakek and found a distant cousin. It was difficult for us to return to Texas after spending time with the people of Slovenia in most incredible country you can imagine. It is a very magic place. I shall return soon. I went to Slovenia three years ago on a holiday from England and I stayed in Kransja Kagora the ski resort village. It was in the summer months and was really hot. Originally it was only going to be for a week stay but ended up staying a fortnight. It was one of the best holidays I have had and loved every minute of it. So much history and beautiful sites to see.

Slovenia is the ferfect getaway destination for sure. I will never forget hiking in their national park in the morning (with snow under my feet), and then swimming in the sea later in the day. And nobody knows about it... Maybe it's for the better! :-)
Was in Slovenia in May this year. Loved the people, the food, and everything I saw there! I relied on public transport and the weather wasn't exactly favorable - rained almost every single day that I was there. So couldn't see much besides Ljubljana, Bled, Piran and Postonja. I'd love to visit the country again and go to Bohinj and Logar Valley and so many other places! Such a tiny country with such diverse landscape! Loved loved loved it!!

As a Slovenian I can say that Slovenia is incredible, you have everything here (mountains, sea, lakes, caves...) also people here are friendly but some (mostly old people) don't speak English. Make sure to visit it one day.

dude, that place is amazing!!!! This was the only place in the country where I met a Slovene who didn't speak English (everyone else in Slovenia is totally multilingual, omg, chapeau!!!!). He is the farmer at Kekceva Dezela and I spoke to him for 5 minutes. WITHOUT language. I will never forget that encounter. (Obviously, I turned the place into a horror story for comedy's sake. In truth, it is perfect for school groups to hang out and be amazed at nature and cattle. Totally safe.)
I was there four days ago. With my wife .we are looking for mushrooms. Kekceva dezela is a play for children. We have famous stories about Kekec who was children hero. by the way i am living in Kranj.

I rented a car as I love to travel independently. For tours, it's worth asking at Ljubljana's tourism office who were very helpful to me www.visitljubljana.com/en/visitors/tours-and-trips/ . Roads are easier to drive than the European average. Travelling is super easy as everyone speaks English. (But it depends what your criteria of hard/easy are.) I couldn't believe how underrated this country is as a travel destination!
