    Hello friends! I'm back with another bedroom makeover! This one was not free, but the $27 it cost for paint, plus a lot of work, was worth it! Inspired by a quilt my great aunts made for me, I've painted, restored and installed Victorian wormy chestnut and oak trim and accessorized with things I had for what I think is an authentic farmhouse bedroom. This is not a pinterest or trendy farmhouse room, but what a farmhouse bedroom could have looked like 50+ years ago in any humble farmhouse in America.

    Hi everyone!! I can't wait for you to see this bedroom makeover!! It took me three long weeks to restore and install trim from the old house, paint then style everything. I feel like I've achieved what I believe is an authentic farmhouse bedroom - not trendy, but a room that literally takes me back in time.
    If you have questions, there is a blog post linked in the description box above with all the details, and you can leave any questions here as well:-)

    I just found you from Farmhouse on the Boone. I absolutely love everything about this bedroom. The cabinet above the dresser with all the old medical liniments and old tinctures and salve bottles made me replay it over and over looking at them. I'm an old retired Nurse that absolutely loves stuff like this. But that cabinet is outstanding, I would love to have one like this. What a blessing. The Hob Nob lamp is beautiful, I collect lamps. Lol the crystal doorknob with the brass door plate is just stunning and the doors, Wow just wow. Of course the beautiful quilt sets the entire room off. You are quite talented. Thank you for sharing. I will binge watching you tonight. God is Good.

      Thank you so much for those kind words Jenny☺️☺️ Oh wow the cabinet was a labor of love to restore, and the contents I just placed back as my grandparents left them, and what treasures to see their names, etc. ☺️ So happy you came by☺️☺️

    Your room is like an antique jewelry box made of rich old wood and inside that wooden box is your quilt sparkling like a hand cut gem of great value! Your painstaking work shows the love you have of family and memories. What a cozy and charming home. Oh how I love your videos they remind me that we can always go home! Love from Michigan

    Oh Anita, I absolutely enjoyed this video tour of your bedroom makeover, as I do all of your videos! I love authentic farmhouse! Like you said true authentic farmhouse is made up of the things that you have and things that have been passed down. thank you for sharing your makeover♥️

    As always, Anita, you do it all up just so perfectly. In your quest to not just decorate with what's trending, but more about your desire in keeping things meaningful in your decor from the generations of your family, you always draw me back and into memories of simpler times. The coziness and warmth that you intentionally bring to a space with family heirlooms of every kind, including all of the old wood/trim, is so endearing to my heart. It just makes everything so much more meaningful as you allow me/us to walk through all of the spaces in your home. (I'm amazed at the treasure trove of all the old wood you have in your barn!) I'm always excited when I see you have something new to share b/c yours is one of my favorite homes. Thank you for always helping to quiet my own heart in focusing us on "the old paths...and finding rest for our souls" whether it's in your home or your surroundings outside. Btw, it's a fun video and still in awe of your skill set with wood, etc. xoxo

      Oh Roxie, your kind words are always so encouraging, and I’m truly thankful❤️ It makes me happy to know the videos bring some peace in this chaotic world we live in. I have to look to those “old paths” as well to find some rest.
      I love restoring the wood and am determined to make sure it is used and appreciated☺️☺️

    I re-watched it trying to see where you dealt with the rosettes as I was really hoping to see about any techniques for sanding them or making them more cleaned up and uniform to accept a stain. I'm currently restoring my hundred something year old front door that was buried under eons of paint and stain.

    • @WhisperingPinesHomestead
      @WhisperingPinesHomestead  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My rosettes just needed to be brushed off and cleaned up which I did with a dry brush then I scrubbed them with water and a brush. Once they were dry, I brushed on, then wiped off oil based stain just as I did the long trim pieces. I mentioned in the video that I sanded - showing a plinth block and longer piece, but I didn’t need to sand the rosettes. The mixture of stains is what made all the pieces more uniform.
