I’m an absolute sucker for awesome training scenes, and this might become one of my favorites! Not only does it feel like so many classic samurai films, it also proves that Ahsoka isn’t training Sabine to be a Jedi, but a better version of herself.
As for the Senate committee, as much as I hate the old trope of “there isn’t enough evidence to support your crazy theory”, how many times throughout modern history has this happened, where a majority government officials either don’t believe or don’t WANT to believe a long believed dead or weakened enemy has come back? Still seeing Jacen talking with Mama Hera about AUNT Sabine made my heart melt!
Also, Ahsoka going out into space to fight starfighters with just her lightsabers is exactly the crazy ass thing Anakin would do with Ahsoka if you’ve seen Clone Wars!

What Ezra said in his message to Sabine also very much applies to Hera. They may not be actually related, but Hera is very much his Mother. you can feel it when that senator tries to tell her he's dead and you need to get over it. MEW's response there was just so visceral! she did such a good job of that.

actually Ahsoka's ship is a modified T6. It's meant to be a Jedi diplomatic ship. (it's modified cuz they aren't actually supposed to have shields or weapons which Ahsoka's ship clearly does.) the ship courtney was thinking about was the B-wing. though its understandable since the same people designed both ships and they are rather unique.

The comment about Luke going back for his dad because of his connections, and that leading to the Emperor's death, vs the way Ahsoka is doing things makes sense when you think about where Luke ended up in the Sequel Trilogy. He tried to train his new Jedi the same way the old Jedi did, and it ended up failing, just like the old Jedi did, because he didn't teach people how to deal with emotions, he just tried to get them to disconnect from everything. Ahsoka doesn't want people to be the old Jedi, she wants them to be the best version of themselves they can be, and if that includes connections, then they just have to figure out how to deal with that. Ahsoka herself seems to be dealing with that regarding Sabine.

The Ship that was introduced in rebels that Courtney mentioned was the B-Wing, which, whilst having a similar ability to maneuver the fuselage around the Cockpit like Ahsoka's ship, is a different ship. Ahsoka's ship is a T-6 Corellian Shuttle, predominantly used by the Jedi during the Clone Wars.
The B-Wings that eventually got built can be seen during the battle of Endor in Episode VI.

i am sure that Hera will be joining them before the jump to the new galaxy. there is that famous line of her from the trailers "once a rebel always a rebel. i can easily see her saying that in response to a line like "didn't the council tell you not to come here?" She has too many connections to it not to get involved. Ahsoka is her friend and the first person Ahsoka reached out to. Both Sabine and Ezra are basically her kids. and as a general, she knows the threat that Thrawn poses. She more than almost anyone knows how patient and dangerous Thrawn is. There is no way she doesn't show up for the fight, council approval or not.

To subvert expectations I hope Hera does join in as you've felt is necessary for the story and then gets killed. Leaving Jacen orphaned and becoming jaded for it.
Why take the story in this direction due to your fan choices? Because...
    1. To show how serious the stakes are for the Empire due to the fear of become extinct. Just like the Jedi and Republic once were.
    And...
    2. To harken back to Yoda's words even more on why wars not make one great:
_Ready, are you? What know you of ready? For eight hundred years have I trained Jedi. My own counsel will I keep on who is to be trained! A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind._
*(to the invisible Ben, indicating Luke)*
_This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away...to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph._
_Adventure. Heh! Excitement. Heh! A Jedi craves not these things._
    *(turning to Luke)*
    _You are reckless!_
*(Luke looks down, searching his feelings. He knows this to be true.)*
So in Yoda's defense: _You're too old! Yes! Too old to begin complaining!_

Shortest episode so far but still a marginal improvement from the previous two thanks to the faster pacing and less dead silence. Enjoyed the early scene when Ahsoka trained Sabine. Her being the worst Jedi candidate according to Huyang is correcting the Mary Sue label from Rey. Better to watch Sabine struggle early on only for her to get better as time goes on. Better than Luke refusing to train Rey.
The music from Kevin Kiner of Rebels fame is starting to grow on me since I like old Japanese traditional music. Very relaxing. Sabine training felt like a Karate Kid/Cobra Kai scene. More Miyagi-Do from Daniel LaRusso than Johnny Lawrence's style of training. Ahsoka is paying homage to Kurosawa and the many Japanese influences they had on Star Wars.
I'm starting to think current Ahsoka is a cross between Mr. Miyagi and Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back. Mr. Miyagi hardly ever raised his voice. She did start showing more emotion in the space battle. More concern. The most Rosario Dawson moment in it hearing more of Rosario's real voice and tone. Great to see Jacen Syndulla and Mon Mothma in this.
Mon was in her mid-40s in Andor (5 BBY) which is also when Rebels S1 starts. She's about 59-60 now in Ahsoka's time (11 ABY). It seems from Hera's words that Thrawn is going to be a huge threat. Bigger threat than what Moff Gideon brought. Coolest scene was Ahsoka in that space jumpsuit. It didn't look ridiculous. They pull it off nicely. It could've looked stupid like Moonraker or Leia's Mary Poppins scene in The Last Jedi.
I thought seeing those star whales was a visual treat. Reminds me of The Phantom Menace's underwater scenery but the scene looks prettier. When Ahsoka's ship landed in those red-leaved trees, it looked like the start of Star Trek Into Darkness. So Marrok is pronounced Ma-rock? Like saying Morocco without the co. I thought it was Merrick or Meh-rock like I thought it was pronounced Sa-bine but it's Sa-bean.
I streamed Dial of Destiny twice yesterday. I still think it's the worst Indy film but I'll download it once the Blu-ray rip is out because I prefer mp4 over mkv and I'm a completist with all my favorite movie franchises. I watched Last Crusade after DoD. Made me realize life is too short. Sallah is in his mid-40s in Crusade. Then 34 years passed and he's a grandfather.
I can tell a Shin vs. Morgan duel is brewing. Shin says sarcastically, "Morgan, congratulations. You almost got them." There's going to be a fight between these two. Overall, I thought Ep 3 is a little better. Not leaps better but it's progressing enough nicely. The special effects in this are spectacular. It looks better than the OT SEs, Prequels, Sequels, and way better than The Flash.
Ep 3 was short and that's probably the biggest complaint and not much of Baylan in this but you can't please them all. If it's too long, it's boring. If Ahsoka talks too much, she's annoying. If she doesn't say much, she's boring. Everyone will whine about everything. I'm starting to dig Hera more and more. I liked her in Rebels from the 10 episodes I saw from it. We forget Mary and Rosario already worked together in Death Proof (2007).
I've looped the first two episodes of Ahsoka like 2-3x last night after seeing them twice and this series is slowly growing on me. I'll loop Ep 3 a few more times. I'm thinking because I have nothing else to watch that I'm getting more invested into these characters. It's still not as good as The Mandalorian S1/S2 and Andor yet but I can see Ahsoka being at least better than Obi-Wan and is already better than The Book of Boba Fett.
At least Ahsoka stays focused on the titular character and the supporting ones in Rebels a majority of the time which Obi-Wan failed to do last year half the time.

    Mando S2 > Mando S1 > Andor S1 > Mando S3 > Ahsoka > Obi-Wan > TBoBF
It's hard for me to compare The Mandalorian vs. Andor. I believe Andor is written better but it's a very slow burn and perhaps the characters are not as charismatic as the ones from Mando.
Andor only has 12 episodes while Mando has 24 and had 16 after S2. Andor has the advantage of having less bad episodes. It's not guaranteed Andor S2 (final season) will be good or end up disappointing like Mando S3. I remember enjoying Agent Carter S1 but hating S2.

That’s what I’m talking about. The plot is spoon-feeding the audience with no real problems to solve, or intervening complications. It all just falls into their laps when the plot needs to move forward. Meanwhile then scenes are slower paced and drawn out (which I don’t mind, I like character development).
So we slow down for the conversations and stoic awkward silences, but need to rapidly move the plot forward by making everything easy peasy lemon squeezey.

My only concern with the show is because it's not moving too fast like the Mandalorian season 3 that it's going to follow the other Disney tradition of spending 5 & 1/2 episodes setting everything up then trying to wrap it all up in the last 15 mins.

I know it isn't likely to happen, but it would be cool if a Tuscan Raider found his/her way into space with one of those Book of Boba Fett lizards and helped Sabine connect to the Force in a different way. Maybe we could learn why Boba Fett and Mando were able to so easily connect to a group of people generally feared and ostracized by other cultures. We may also get an insight as to why different cultures are aware of the Force but interact with it differently than the Sith or the Jedi.

regarding Sabine's force sensitivity. I want to point out something that Sabine has said in both this episode and the last while talking to Huyang. in this episode she says "i don't feel the force ... NOT LIKE YOU." and in the previous episode she says she doesn't have the skills or the abilities with the force ... NOT LIKE EZRA." both times she qualifies her statements. if she isn't force sensitive then there is no need to qualify it. she should have just said I don't feel the force. period, full stop, end of sentence. adding the qualifier "not like you," means I do feel the force, just not the way you are able to.

I’m actually glad Sabine struggles with the force, because she never was strong with it. If she had moved that damn cup I was ready to call BS. I have no problem with her developing her latent force connection over time, maybe making her a better fighter (combined with her mandalorian training). I think this is setting the stage for a explanation why she’ll be able to at least hold
Her own against Shin later on and why she lost the first time, to show her growth and improvement.

@@WickedWorldzNE if sabine is eventually able to user the force like other jedi it wont be something that she can do this soon. i think the reason she lost to shin so easliy is that she is extremely rusty. i think after ahsoka walked away from her, i think she joined the lothal self defence force and has been flying around with them. (given that porter guy is spectre 21, she knew him by name, she has a rank of commander that they addressed her by, and she was kinda dressed like a pilot. also she had her mando armor packed away and her helmet just looked so abandoned in her room.) given that it was probably years since she last fought like that she did pretty good.

@@sakisaotome6753 She lost to Shin, because obviously Shin has been training for a while and has an affinity for the force, where as Sabine is out of practice and has latent abilities. She lost because the Dave Filoni wants you to see her growth when they face off again. It’s character development 101. It’s why the “good guys” tend to lose the first fight, train harder, and come back and win. If the good guy wins right away, the story is just over. We know there will be a round 2 and it isn’t going to be as lopsided as round 1.
Yeah it’s pretty obvious that all the Ghost Crew became high ranking officers because of their part in the rebellion. And Yes, she tucked her Mando armor away because, well, they were pretty much wiped out of existence. She obviously felt lost and abandoned after the Ghost Crew parted ways, and the loss of Kanan and Ezra, plus Ahsoka walking away. This doesn’t diminish her other skills, and I’m not saying she’s incompetent. But I’m sick of the “Mary Sue” roles and I am glad that after roughly 13 years of no training she wasn’t adept with the force. It makes more sense and feels more real.

@@WickedWorldzNE I dont actually disagree with anything you said there. What i was trying to say about Sabine's losing as badly as she did is the flip side of what you said. Yeah shin has obviously been training hard and so her skills are top notch. what i was getting at was that after everything that happened in sabine's life that you mention in her post she seems to have just given it all up.
So the skills she displayed in rebels with lightsabers they withered on the vine. maybe she had been keeping up with it initially after ezra left and certainly while she was Ahsoka's padawan for however long that lasted. but once Ahsoka left her, i kinda feel she went into a funk and just gave up on all it. her lightsabers skill went down, possibly her shooting skills went down as well. the one place where she still seems to shine is her flying & tinkering.
all that said, i will once agree with pretty much everything you said. I love that she is gonna have to struggle and work for what she is doing.

I think Tyrone Magnus makes a valid point about the dryness and boringness of Ahsoka. Even if you watch Rebels, none of the characters are really that interesting. I know SW diehards praise Kanan Jarrus but I really don't find him interesting. Neither with Ezra Bridger.
I guess no cast will ever match the OT cast of Vader, Han, Yoda, Obi-Wan, Luke, Leia, Chewie, Artoo, Threepio, Palpatine, and Lando. Prequels, Sequels, and Disney+ series never really matched the greatness of the Original Trilogy cast.
I rewatched Ep 3 and Shin and Marrok are terrible fighter pilots. They had all that time to shoot down Ashoka including her in a space jumpsuit outside the ship and they still kept missing like a Stormtrooper. Shin and Marrok need to learn to be a better fighter pilot and shoot down aircraft like Pete Mitchell AKA Maverick. Marrok does sound like General Grievious.
John Campea makes excellent points about the stupidity of characters in this show. It's mostly towards the senators especially that Asian guy who was in denial to what Hera was saying. It's as stupid as grown adults having a hard time chasing little Leia and Obi-Wan hiding her underneath a trench coat.
Dave Filoni is really going to dangle Ezra and Thrawn like carrots at Rebels and hardcore Star Wars fans until the very end.
