- It's time for episode 6 of Ahsoka (aka Star Wars Rebels Season 5). Rosario Dawson is back as the titular jedi (or technically not a jedi anymore) Ahsoka Tano and is joined by the live action counterparts of characters that we grew to love (and hate) in Rebels as well as some new ones. Mary Elizabeth Winstead is Hera Syndulla, Natasha Liu Bordizzo is Sabine Wren, David Tennant is Huyang, Ray Stevenson is Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno is Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto reprises here role in The Mandalorian as Morgan Elspeth, Lars Mikkelsen is the quietly intimidating Grand Admiral Thrawn and Hayden Christensen as the legendary Anakin/ Darth Vader.

Same... Also, she killed a lot of moments not only this one tbh. Like, from her point of view, SOMEHOW, Thrawn is SADISTIC- lmao! HOW.... WHEN tf Thrawn is sadistic?!! In the books, comics, the Rebels, and even in this show, he's always completely opposite! 🤯 His strategies are always based on pure logic, not on sadistic tendencies. He's always neutral in his mindset, that's why he's so special! and that's why he's not driven by anger, fear, hate... So, obviously, he doesn't enjoy harming others as sadists do 🤦♀ In fact, he doesn't like unnecessary violence... He's not a Tarkin ffs!!! Lol.
Seriously, it's the most non-accurate judgment of this character I've ever heard... It's insane. 😔
The Sabine hate is getting really annoying, especially from people who haven't even watched Rebels. It's like people don't understand that in stories characters are supposed to make mistakes and be flawed in order to drive the plot forward. It's them realizing those mistakes and learning from them that make great character arcs. It would be boring if characters just made the "correct" decisions all the time. A major aspect of Sabine's character is how deeply she feels for her family and how she would do anything for them as established in Rebels. So to learn that all her family on Mandalore has died, it's pretty understandable she would be desperate to find and save Ezra, who she sees as her brother/ best friend. She just wants to be reunited with what little family she has left.
Actually Sabine "Natasha" is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and is also trained in Wudang sword-fighting. She starred in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny"

What's with these Negative Nancys? I mean, we all see things differently, but it seems to me that they're looking for something to complain about. Courtney is just plain snarky, for...comic relief? 🤨
Sabine did what she did because of Ezra and how much she loves & misses her friend. She wasn’t thinking rationally but emotionally. She didn’t have a plan, guys. She was desperate to find him…reason enough to do what she did.
you're correct.... she made the decision only a teenager or child would make. Risking her whole galaxy for some dude. I don't care if it's her best friend. this show has made me not care about her at all! Sabine is the worst character I've seen in a show in a while. Ezra is the most mid character I've ever seen in a show in a while. This episode made wanna wanna stop watching Ahsoka. I don't care about Sabine and Ezra, half the scenes are mad corny although the visuals are stunning and editing is well paced. I don't care about them enough to even give Sabine the benefit of the doubt. terrible writing in regards to her and everything surrounding her.
@@deadislanderFunny how Anakin risks the fate of the whole galaxy in order to save his wife and people don't hate him as a character. Funny how you don't blame Ahsoka for Sabine's shortfalls. Remember, characters are just as flawed as actual people and if you expect Sabine to make the right decision all the time, you're blinded by some skewed perspective of reality. If Anakin can redeem himself, surely Sabine can too. Please stop criticising her and try to understand her.
@@deadislander You're heartless. I'm 50, and I'd go save Ezra because it's the right thing to do. You don't leave loved ones behind. And even if Sabine does help Thrawn return, at least she also helps Ezra return, so we're just back one for one, another admiral and another jedi, sounds good to me, totally worth it.

@@deadislander That's endlessly debatable, but even so, Ezra is needed by the many. The Jedi that got rid of Thrawn is a pretty big deal. To bring him back at the risk of bringing back Thrawn seems fair, especially if you're Sabine.
Mate I’m sorry but this girl on the right is testing my patience so much. She just comes off as being so smug and arrogant. Like we get it you think you know it all about the characters when you actually don’t. She didn’t even know anything about rebels in general. The fact that she questioned why there’s a star destroyer there tells me everything I need to know. Last weeks reaction was great because she wasn’t. Either she needs to get off this reaction or just go to another show.

Everyone complaining that Sabine isnt acting like a Jedi, completely missed out when Ahsoka LITERALLY said she wasnt training her to be a Jedi, but to be herself. She isnt a jedi, at least not now. Enjoy her journey and dont get mad at her for not being a Mary Sue.
I do want to say that courney did kind of kill the vibe for me with her constant negativity toward Sabine. I know shes just dissappointed beacuse Sabine isnt great at everything she was in rebels, but still it botherd me. Still going to watch going forward beacuse i love her and seeing these reactions!

My only issue with the show is the Sabine character. Unlikeable and zero chemistry with every other character on the show. Terribly written character, who is written to be stupid and she brings the vibe of the show down in every scene.,. The only reason she's not dead is because of plot armor. I imagine the only reason she exists is because they plan to make her an eventual Dark Saber wielder.

After defeated twice by Jedi's trick on creature (Bendu and Purgill), Thrawn had learned in a hard way that never underestimate Jedi abilities. Those two Jedis were not raised in era of war like Ahsoka. Imagine if he found out Ahsoka history and experiences. Thrawn with his fully planning manner naturally would be extra careful by learning everything about her.
And as an extra measure, he asked for help from figures that could be the equal opponents of The Jedi, The Night Sisters.
Baylan is like Barriss. Raised in the temple, forced into a war as a contemporary of Anakin but disillusioned

2:25 No, that is an awful take. If Sabine had destroyed the map, she would have been immediately killed. That's no choice at all.
By doing what she did, Sabine created an opportunity to find Ezra, bring him back, and stop Thrawn for good.
Thrawn may have found a way back to his own galaxy with the help of the Nightsisters regardless, so destroying the map was only a temporary solution.
You should expect something like that from that girl because she is clueless and knows nothing about rebels. You can tell because she gave it away by questioning why there was a star destroyer showing up. She doesn’t know anything and I am simply begging the question of why she’s even there.

Ah yes, all but one one person (Andrew) is going to ignore the advice that Huyang (a 25,000 year old droid by the way) gave Ahsoka regarding Sabine's choice, in that it was the only one for her. Let's be real though, Baylan held a lightsaber to that orb for like 5 seconds before anything happened, a blaster shot would of just launched it out of her hand...

It doesn't help that she forgets basic information, like needing massively powerful hyperdrives in order to travel between galaxies. She thought just Thrawn having his Imperial Star Destroyer would be enough to travel between galaxies when they spent so much time covering why that wouldn't work.

Courtney completely missed the fact that no one can travel between these galaxies without the precise hyperspace coordinates provided by the map Ahsoka found (or via the Purgil who know it instinctively).
The other girl seems to be a big whiner when it comes to Sabine.
It has been established that Sabine is weak in the force. So she is doing just fine with the lightsaber.
Her complaining and snarky attitude almost make this reaction unwatchable.
Same, but I’m also looking at it as someone that is letting her emotions get the best of her. Think that moment of anticipation right before opening a present. The closer you get, the worse the anticipation becomes. For Sabine, she’s waited so long to see the one other person that was like family. Remember, Hera has her own son, and Zeb is doing his thing, and Ezra was basically a little brother to her. Wouldn’t you do something similar for your family? I’m not excusing what she did, but I’m trying to empathize with her

@@bob-1980 yeah I am Zero Hour in my Rebels re-watch and if there's one thing that I have learned about the writing across Rebels and into this Ahsoka series it is that is consistent for all of the characters that Dave has created almost like there's some sort of conjoining story arc and actual character development
These reactions are so hard to watch with Miss Negative Nancy/Cortney back spitting acid on everything, especially when she's constantly attacking Sabine for wanting to get Ezra back. It's like she has no heart. And why is she reacting to this show when she acts like she hates every minute of it?

You guys do know that Natasha Liu Bordizzo is an actual honest-to-God black belt in taekwondo and Kenpō? ....Meaning she has formalized weapons training, and actually knows how to use a sword? ....And is actually using her saber 100% correctly in that fight scene? ....In the way that someone without magical space powers that would allow her to flip around like Nightcrawler would? ....Just something to keep in mind as you endlessly, toxically, inexplicably crap all over her? ....Seriously, is this kayfabe? Like, is it deliberate agitpropping to get hate-clicks? This is very unlike this channel. Legitimate criticism or just not liking something because of personal taste is perfectly fine, I get that, and would never question it, but this obsession with hating on every single thing that live action Sabine does is quickly crossing into uncomfortable territory. It feels oddly personal. And after what happened to poor Ahmed Best, I'm not a fan. Natasha Liu Bordizzo is killing it with her performance, as far as I'm concerned. She sounds like, moves like, and acts like an older, more-wary, and more-hurt Sabine, while also still being super-charming with all of her false bravado. Which is exactly what she's supposed to be, here. Sabine's a "burnt cookie." Hard and crusty on the outside, but complete mush on the inside.
Now, we can disagree on the decisions being made with her character: I for one, think they are very much in-character for her, and in-keeping with someone as damaged and traumatized and isolated as she is. But seriously, you're not disagreeing with the way she's written, you're just angry at her. Talk to me after you spend your entire childhood and teens and twenties endlessly fighting for your life while losing everyone you ever loved and even your homeworld along the way, before ending up at 30 completely alone without any real friends or personal connections. Then you can tell me you wouldn't do what she did, here, while you sit with your friends on a couch in LA. I'm sorry if I'm being harsh, but, as someone who is myself rather "damaged," I feel a certain kinship with characters like Sabine. Seriously, do you think she's ever had a "normal" day in her life? She's been fighting in wars since she was roughly 12. Her family effectively disowned her when she was 15. And then she lost most of her adopted "found family" when she was 20, right before her actual family was killed in a literal genocide of her people when she was around 22 or 23. Somehow, I doubt she relaxes at a bar in Lothal City, or is part of the local dating scene, you know what I mean? Her entire existence is made out of trauma and loneliness. I think that level of grief comfortably explains her making some poor decisions regarding Ezra, and I'm willing to forgive her for them. And we still don't know just what Ahsoka did to her. Ashoka herself said she "walked away" from her, clearly at a very bad moment. The Great Purge of Mandalore broke that relationship, and Sabine's remaining faith. We need more context, here.

I'm glad you guys enjoyed the reunion. I've literally read someone say who cold their reunion was. I couldn't believe it. But it's great to see others who thought it was really well done
Sabine had no choice. They even laid it out in the beginning of this episode. To her, destroying the map meant losing Ezra forever. That is losing for her. That did the one thing she can’t do. Her character would NEVER make that choice. She realizes that this isn’t a great deal for her, but it’s a chance.
I think Baylan is true neutral. He doesn't care for any side. He's not a Jedi or Sith. Republic or Empire. But he wants to start a new type of Force user. Kinda what Luke would have been if he didn't go into hiding. He had the same talk of the cycle of good and evil.
Sigh...I would've paid real money to see those two fight.
Love watching reactions to this episode. Seeing people creeped out by the Howler to immediately switch to “Puppy.” They are pretty cute. Just reminds me how people react around pit bulls.

Sabine was ambushed. There have been plenty of times when actual Jedis had too much to deal with.
Baylan can't have a redemption arc because he hasn't done anything wrong. Hired mercenary doing his job. Clearly different kind of jedi with a motivation we dont understand.
The most interesting character in the whole show.
I love how Thrawn went to the Night Sisters and ask them to resurrect all of the dead stormtroopers on his ship to become his Night Troopers Army (Zombie Stormtroopers). Thrawn did ask the Night Sisters at the end of the episode for help by using their Dark Magic once again also the Night Troopers armor are very heavily battle damage and being held together by what looks like red fabric.
I also really like that it looks like the stormtrooper armor is repaired with gold. Which is based on a japanese technique to repair ceramic and porcelain called "kintsugi".
That's actually sick (in a good way), while watching I was wondering how those troopers were even alive
Baylan isn't there for Thrawn - he just hitched a ride so he can find the thing *he* wants. Baylan doesn't care about Thrawn starting a war with the New Republic because whatever he is looking for will wipe the board clean of both. He wants something to stop what he views as the repeated cycles of history. He wants a new beginning, and as he told Ahsoka, 'one must destroy in order to create' - he's planning to burn the galaxy to the ground (figuratively or literally) and rebuild it in a new way with whatever power he's searching for on Peridea.
They don’t read comments, yall. I know this cause pretty much every week we’ve correcting them and they still keep getting the same things wrong
This was a great episode and what's with this negativity towards Sabine?? Like destroy the map, seriously?? For Sabine, this means losing the chance to find Ezra forever and she could have been killed by Baylon immediately as well. Instead she now at least has a chance.
Also, she's not a jedi yet and was fighting well, but even during this there's criticism. It is no fun watching a reaction when you complain about every little thing.
I've been doing a rewatch of rebels as part of a full chronological re-watch and I got to the Mandalore episodes in season 3 yesterday. Knowing how Sabine feels about the ghost crew and knowing her feelings over familial Duty has for me atleast cast Natasha's portrayal in an entirely new light. Not that I disliked the Betrayal from episode 1 but I've seen naysayers such as Courtney level this discourse about how it's betrays her character but it's very much in theme for Sabine herself. And with people forgetting that I think that they really should revisit Rebels because it is key to her character and the rigidity of Jedi principles as shown by Kanan trying to teach her how to wield the darksaber it's just another point to the flat nature of the Jedi Order particularly during the prequel error

I feel like the only person who likes sabine in this show😂 I think she's made some poor choices but that's what makes her human and doesn't make the cliche choices that would realistically get her killed. Mandos never wanted to be heroes they value family and creed the most and that's why she is doing anything to get to Ezra

This is one of the best episodes of Star Wars ever made. First off, the highly anticipated return of Thrawn not only paid off but FAR exceeded our already high expectations. He was already perfect in Rebels, but FINALLY seeing Lars Mikkelsen play Thrawn in live action proves was was born to play Grand Admiral Thrawn! And his “Night Troopers” are beyond awesome. They’re the most intimidating looking army I’ve ever seen in Star Wars. Especially Enoch, he looks like a mix of a Roman centurion and a gladiator.
And Baylan Skoll is proving to be one of the most complex and compelling characters in all of Star Wars. He managed to see not only that the Jedi had fallen even before Order 66 because of how they had become so blinded by their own hubris and hypocrisy, but he sees that the Galaxy can never be governed for long or even properly by either a Republic nor an Empire. So he is looking for a new power that will outlast all of them. It just makes it more tragic that Ray Stevenson didn’t live to see the overwhelming praise he would’ve received.
What really surprised me was the Nightsisters being the lynchpin that ties everything together. Now it makes sense how an incredibly ancient map could lead to where Thrawn was currently, because Morgan was told so in her visions by the Great Mothers, who were instructed by Thrawn. And in exchange for aiding Thrawn, he would take them and whatever their cargo is (and I have a bad feeling I might know what it is) back to our Galaxy.

"Something calls to me...can't you hear it?" I have 2 theories. 1st is this power could be Abeloth, or it could be Zeffonian in nature. There were Zeffonian runes all over the temple where the Night Sisters and Thrawn were. He made the statement about this planet being the land of dreams and nightmares, which again makes me Think Abeloth. The Night Sisters are very eager to get off the planet. Also Ezra has upgraded his hemet collection hobby to instead wearing "Chain mail" made from dark trooper dog tags. One other thing, is I believe these dark troopers to be undead. Their armor has been fixed in the fashion of Kintsugi. Which is applying gold to fix something broke. And they have red scarves wrapped around their armor. They are filled with Night Sister dark majik.
Far away, Ezra and Thrawn were waiting to appear in the flesh.
It takes something really heinous to make Thrawn visibly lose his temper, like casually suggesting the destruction of a unique piece of Twi'lek artwork ("Hera's Heroes"). He takes art very seriously.
I can't see Shin betraying Baylan. She seems completely devoted to her master. Even if she doesn't totally understand his goals she appears to support his actions

Sabine could not have destroyed the map. She certainly could have tried to do so, but baylan took a lightsaber to that thing and waited several seconds before it was finally cut in half. It didn't melt or slagg the innerds were still quite in tact so aside from being irreparably cut in half his lightsaber did almost nothing to it. Sabine could maybe get one perhaps even 2 blasters shots off on the map before baylan either forever pulled out away from her or just force slapped her into a henge liked Ahsoka did to shin. Either way nothing would have happened to the map and baylan would have killed Sabine
I get the feeling that Baylon wants to start some new version of the Jedi Order here in this galaxy, and has no interest in going back to their original one.

Something older than the witches is calling to Baylan, that’s what Thrawn and the witches are running from. Whatever that force is, it has an army and it wants to hop galaxies. Thrawn thinks raising the empire is the only way to stop this force. Thrawn is not the villain, he’s doing evil things for the greater good, what’s coming is meant for the films. It’s that big.
Thrawn is like Sherlock Holmes but evil, yet still civil like Sherlock. He’s so far in the process of thinking, that when someone who’s behind him (like us) asks a question he has to stop and be like “how the hell are you still back there?”

I think you're spot on about the difference between Sabine using a lightsaber and a Jedi using one. It's not the actress, because she's an experienced martial artist, so even if she didn't have experience with a sword, she'd likely be able to learn it quite well. And it makes sense that Jedi can use a lightsaber in a very smooth, choreographed way, since they can feel their enemies and see glimpses of the future.

Kanan is not going to be a force ghost. You have to be a powerful Jedi trained to do so before you die. Yoda had to train for it in Clone Wars, as did Qui-gonn and Obi-Wan.

Thrawn shouldn't be defeated through his subordinates being incompetent. That's just lazy writing.
He should be defeated through his machiavellian assumptions about the world being proven WRONG - Sabine's compassion should turn out to win the day, just like in Lord of the Rings, it's friendship, loyalty, self-sacrifice and pity, things Sauron cannot understand or fathom, that causes Sauron's defeat.
Thrawn is way too eager to dismiss heroic virtues like compassion, love and wisdom. That's what should be his flaw as a villain, and that's what should cause his defeat.

I feel like the troopers are dark magic resurrected. The whole speech Thrawn had in the end scene about resurrections makes me think that he had the nightsisters fill those armors up with some damned souls or some shit lol

I love how all reactors are saying Ahsoka will be there soon. And then what? The place is where Purgill go to die or else Ezra would have found a way back by now. Sabine didn't plan ahead
I would think that they go there to die when it's time for them to die. If they are patterned after migrating animals, then I would assume that they go back and forth obtaining resources until its time for them to join their kin by instinct in the ring of bones. The herd looked like a mixture of old and young ones.
And Of course Sabine didn't plan ahead. Aside form Morgan, everyone pretty much wasn't sure what they would find on the other side of the galaxy. I think that Sabine made the choice that was right at the time that benefited her and the opposing crew. She still wanted to see Ezra and they wanted the orb to complete the map upload. The alternative would have been for them to kill her and still get the orb anyways. We shall see in the next episode!

Baylan is a graet character, but I doubt he will survive. He has a plan to stop the cycle, but we know how the future looks and it looks like he didn't succeed.

This was such an awesome episode , in fact the last 3 episodes have all been amazing each week getting better and better . The cinematography was so well done the shot of Thrawns Ship looming menancingly was so great , the music was so chilling and creepy as Thrawn walks in , Lars Mikkelson is totally knocking it out of the park as Thrawn he is so calm and collected which makes him even more menacing than a character who is ranting and raging , the makeup and effects on Thrawn look so great too . Thrawns troopers look really horrifying and really scary especially Captain Enoch ( Watching the ep with subtitles the Troops are called Night Troopers does that mean they are ressurected troops like Murrok was as Thrawns forces are depleted as said later on ) The Nightsisters look great too really capture the look from animation so well .
They really cast Ezra well with Eman Esfandi he really captures the character and mannerisms really well , the only criticism I had was Sabines and Ezras reunion was very underplayed I though Sabine would have been happier . Ray Stephenson as Baylan is so fantastic , his delivery of his lines is fantastic . Ivanna Sakhno is great as Shin She can give so much emotion with just a look , I have to honestly say they are my two favourite new characters , so sad Ray is no longer with us when he is on screen he is so captivating and the pair of them are really fascinating
Would loved to have seen a spin off series about them sadly not to be .
As great as seeing all the Rebels characters in live action has been great we were all waiting for Thrawn and they totally did not disappoint
Sabine meting the goofy rock Aliens gave a real Leia Ewoks vibe .
All in all a fantastic episode cant wait for the last two now .

She is, but it's coming from a lack of understanding about the character or the overall world. I watch with a friend who never watched Rebels or Clone Wars shows, but kind of got the nuance of what her character is like just based on her being a Mando (He watched all of the other live action shows).
@@hellooomarc2750 I start to think she doesn't understand Star Wars / the Jedi at all. If Sabine's decision isn't the decision of a Jedi does this mean Obi-Wan isn't one eirher in her eyes? He spared Anakin twice, also I hate when people don't take emotional connections between characters into account for a decision. I don't believe, or better hope, that they would make a different decision if they were in Sabine's place.
I like the fact that Ezra looks like his father now and the animated adult image of him. Great detail in casting. Can Sabine please give Ezra his lightsaber back now and focus on being a Mandalorian? This training her to be a Jedi thing just isn’t working. She’s just SUS as a Jedi. She has no sincere interest in doing so. We have two Jedi’s on the scene now, Ahsoka & Ezra, I’m good with that.
