- It's time for the episode 8 of Ahsoka (aka Star Wars Rebels Season 5). Rosario Dawson is back as the titular jedi (or technically not a jedi anymore) Ahsoka Tano and is joined by the live action counterparts of characters that we grew to love (and hate) in Rebels as well as some new ones. Mary Elizabeth Winstead is Hera Syndulla, Natasha Liu Bordizzo is Sabine Wren, David Tennant is Huyang, Ray Stevenson is Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno is Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto reprises here role in The Mandalorian as Morgan Elspeth, Lars Mikkelsen is the quietly intimidating Grand Admiral Thrawn and Hayden Christensen as the legendary Anakin/ Darth Vader.

I loved this series. Ahsoka and Andor which are on completely opposite ends of the Star Wars spectrum are now my most anticipated Season 2s.
I love the bookend treatment where the first episode of this season began with an Imperial shuttle entering a Republic ship under the guise of ally Jedi but secretly rogue enemies, but then the season ends with an Imperial shuttle entering a Republic ship under the guise of a rogue enemy but secretly an ally Jedi.
That Blade is of Mother Talzin perhaps the strongest witch. She fought against Mace Windu using that blade!!!

BTW, Morgan Elsbeth was played by Diana Lee Inosanto, who is Filipino-American. She is the daughter of Dan Inosanto, who was 1 of Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do students and in turn, taught Bruce Lee nunchucks and Filipino Martial Arts. Diana is a true martial artist who learned from her father. BL is even her godfather.
When I first saw this episode and he shot the tower I was like “Thrawn’s just gonna kill his own guys? That doesn’t seem like… oh yeah they’re dead. DAMN HE’S SMART!”

@@treadlightly76 Star Destroyers are not designed for hitting small targets like people, they are designed for ship combat, they can only bombard a general area on the ground but not hit specific small targets like 3 people because they aren't designed for it. If they were, then the Empire couldn't orbital bombard a planet like Mandalore because it would require weaker turbo lasers. Things like this require trade offs and Thrawn hasn't exactly got the ability to entirely replace the weapons on his Destroyer.
It does bring to mind why he didn’t just break the tower I. The first place

@@mysticsaxophone4181Talzin was one of the strongest witch in the Galaxy. The fact Grievous, Sidious and Dooku went after to kill her, showed how powerful Talzin was. She nearly destroyed Sidious with Savage and Maul.

And if you don't know what I'm talking about I recommend you go and watch a two-part episode from season 6 of the clone wars involving Mace Windu mother Talzin and Jar Jar Binks

Morai (owl) Showed herself she has something to tell Ahsoka.. Abeloth is stirring bringer of chaos, mother of mortis ,,, episode solid 8.8 Series as a whole gets a 9 out of 10 from me... So in this one 45 minute episode Ezra gets a new lightsaber (that looks very much like Kanan’s😢), we learn what caused the divide between Sabine and Ahsoka, Morgan Elsbeth seriously leveled up and gave us one of the coolest and best shot duels we’ve ever seen with Ahsoka, the Night Troopers truly became one of the most terrifying zombie armies of all time, Sabine finally managed to use the Force and become the first ever on screen Mandalorian Jedi, Sabine and Ahsoka managed to send Ezra home at the cost of them being stranded, Thrawn well and truly defeated the Jedi while also showing genuine remorse at losing his most loyal and capable follower in Morgan, Ezra finally reunited with Hera and Chopper (though I’m pissed we never got to see Zeb this whole season), we learn Baylan is searching for something connected to the Mortis Gods, and the final shot is of Anakin watching over Ahsoka!😮💨
I honestly wish this episode was longer given how there was SO MUCH stuff that happed but the pacing was a little fast, I really wish we had more than a minute of screen time with Skoll and Hati. I’m still sad that Ray Stevenson never got to live to see the love he would’ve gotten from fans for this show. Still the last scene of him standing on the statue of the Mortis Gods is now etched into my brain forever.
I still wish Ray Stevenson lived long enough to see the overwhelming love and praise he would’ve gotten from fans for is perfect performance as one of the most amazing and complex characters in all of Star Wars. Rest In Peace Ray, you will live forever in the hearts of Star Wars fans.

Yeah I'm starting to get tired of the relaxed pace leading to shoving all kinds of stuff into the finale. The whole divide between Ahsoka and Sabine should have been resolved in a conversation between them last episode instead of an exposition dump by Huyang this ep. They really could have brought it up earlier in the season and resolved it last episode too.

@@sgrapness4678 Ezra is the only one who doesn't know what happened between Ahsoka and Sabine. Everyone else who is important already knows. It makes sense he would ask because he is out of the loop. It tells the audience as well as a character who needs to know rather than having characters who already know talking about it as a way just for the audience. We got snippets throughout the series, Ezra just got the full story as he should.

The point that father was pointing could be Abeloth a.k.a the mother & her prison. That's what was calling Baylan & thats why Thrawn wanted to get out as quickly as possible. If it's her, the whole galaxy is Fucked up.

many people hate on thrawn for not being more strategic but in all honesty, he outsmarted plot armor so that's a win in my book.

It's frustrating to me that people are not paying attention. Two full weeks ago I noticed when she was fighting the bandits and her determination was cleared in going to find Ezra she did a perfect blast deflection into the face of one of the bandits. She did another couple of blasts deflections when the shadow Troopers showed up in last week's episode. Here when they were ascending the stairs after she buried the hatchet with her master and she was much more calm and at peace she was doing more blast deflections and relying on her plaster less and less. I feel that the moment that she was being choked out by the zombified Death Trooper her mindset was that of failure will Doom the Galaxy I cannot fail and see thousands of people die at the hand of thrawn. And much like Ezra all those years ago when he finally forgave Seebo while he and Kanan were on Anaxis. That final barrier for Sabine was broken down and she was able to access her full potential even if her midichlorian count would have been too low for her to be accepted into the order
yeah you pretty much summed it up^^. I'm not a fan of sabine beeing force sensitive. I think she was already such a good character, she didn't need the force too. But I don't like the constant bullying of her character when she clearly has the abilities. She used the force multiple times throughout the show, you could see her getting better and better. But some people don't want to see that i guess
Flash referenced Rebels for the Mortis gods. That tells me he hasn't seen the Mortis arc in TCW, which is wild cause that seems like right up his alley.
The reason the daughter doesn't have a statue is the same reason they showed her animal spirit in the scene right before. She died to revive Ahsoka, anakin has now seemingly taken on his role as the new father, and the son is out there, and maybe the mother too.
Maybe? Abeloth is literally luring Baylan Skoll to her lair to free her.
The daughter lives on in Ashoka ... she gave her remaining life essence to Ashoka ... Morai is a spiritual guide for the daughter/Ashoka ... also morai is the daughter as well ... its deep and confusing and I love it

the actress that played morgan said the fight between her and rosaria for mando took like 17 hours of practice to do but fight here took several days! so it was way more intense for them as actors.
Actually there was daughter's statue as well but it was broken down. You can see that part below the head of the daughter.
They will have to recast Baylan for season two... Ahsoka is the daughter ever since she received her life essence.
I think Baylin was seeking the Mordis gods.
They should certainly recast. RIP to Ray, he was phenomenal. But, another actor can certainly bring a similar gravitas to the roll... some similar depth to the character. I hope they recast and continue on.
I loved how Filoni the named of the sword in reference to Mother Talzin I was surprised at how few people have not mentioned that point.

Those turbo lasers on the Chimera where build for starship combat against major combatants, they have a hard time hitting smaller ships like X-Wing as it is,, hitting mobile human size targets is not in the job descriptions of the weapons or the gunners,
A couple of things I want to reflect with this episode and season as a whole:
Didn't like the idea of splitting Ezra and Sabine apart, they are mates. I wanted them to have more interaction.
I also don't like the fact that Baylan wasn't utilized much and his story ending on a clift hanger.
On a positive note, I like seeing Thrawn being competent and outwitting his opponents.
I liked the crew using light sabers. And I liked that there were consequences for Ashoka.
Overall, I grade the episode and the season a "B".
Zeb was in the mandalorean he’s occupied elsewhere in the galaxy.
did you guys not notice the way Sabine could jump in rebels? she made that kind of jump that ezra made on a daily basis. that wasn't even hard for her to do. so if she had done it, she'd only be staying in character. believe me look it up. the two best episodes i can think of to see this off the top of my head is s2e1 where they go to try to save minster tua. she does a standing jump of like 30+ feet onto the the ship gangway ramp. and then in trial of the darksaber where she makes another standing 30+ lead to jump passed where she kicked kanan down the ledge to win their sparring match. its not a natural jump.
but in either case, if you remember she told ezra i push you, you pull me. so she would have jumped and ezra would have pulled her with the force onto the ship.
I know Andrew is/was going thru Clone Wars; would be cool to see he and Achara at least watch the Mortis Arc together. Especially if it's are going to be a bigger part of the story going forward.

did you not notice how well sabine was using the lightsaber to block? yes she took a hit to the beskar there and ahsoka is quick to protect her but what ahsoka was doing in that seen was putting someone on offence rather than having 3 people on defense. but watch before and after that sabine is purposely blocking with both her lightsber and she's using her bracers like wonderwoman to block shots. that honestly is the most impressive thing ive seen her do, she literally raises her first to wonderwoman block a shot to her face!!! like thats actually jedi levels of deflection! and the way she's adoted the saber/blaster form is just awesome. there is a scene where she deflects a shot with her saber from the back and shoots someone in front of her at the same time! thats why sabine seems so bad she invested all her skill points on her passive skills like blasterbolt deflection and force timing, and genious level mechanical intuition, and super art insight. she just needed an extra skill point in so she could unloock her force push/pull skill
in all honesty though i think what finally got her to unlock her force powers was the combination of having found ezra and making peace with Ahsoka about their relationship. that Vow she made to Sabine to always be there for her. that meant so much to her. I just watched the episode where she goes home for the first time and the that moment where her mom vows to protect everyone in her clan and sabine is like "yeah except for me" it was so heartbreaking. cuz sabine is just 18 years old there and she's arleady learned that as much as she loves her family she couldn't depend on them she needed someone. Kanan was the first person to make that promise to her to always stand with her and now Ahsoka. and as much as she loved Kanan like a dad, she is literally force bonded with Ahsoka so to hear her make that promise to her it was Huge. plus she was finally able to lay down all the burdens she was carrying over Ezra. she was free and open to allow the force to work through her and sure enough she was able to use it.
I think that the mother of chaos is imprisoned on peridia and the fathers statue is pointing to its location and the sprit of the daughter is going to make asohka stop baylon from freeing her remember baylon said he wanted to put a end to the cycle of light and dark and chaos is how u do that

Huyang just sonnin’ Ezra on lightsaber construction…
It could be that the reason for showing little to nothing with Ray Stevenson in this last episode, which in itself was quite surprising, may be because they need to use all the footage they made, at a later point in time to wrap it all up, so it will make sense without actually replacing Stevenson with another actor. They can then just fill out the plot "holes" with a bit of deepfake.

And the incantation that they are chanting later on in this episode is also from that episode because I'm pretty sure that is the exact incantation that the old mother used on dathomir to raise the Zombie Army to fight against Grievous
I'm going to guess the turbolasers aren't even attempting to hit such small targets.
They probably have an orbital bombardment pattern they're following - you don't aim for a specific target, you calculate that eventually they'll end up close enough to an impact point and be taken out. Carpet bombing.

Star Wars is also part western, so The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly could also be referenced in the title. Especially since it’s referencing people.

I think Grogu has been trained by Luke, has Beskar armor, and had some shooting practice. Of course, due to his size he's not able to use a lightsaber.
I mean grogu has plenty of time to become a Jedi and he still uses the force he will probably train when din passes.

Fun fact: *There is actual Zombie exist in Star Wars called “Blackwing”* , you can find a book called *Death Trooper* which is non canon/Legend, it is pretty good story!
Literally, this is the closest “Blackwing” we have in Disney/Canon.
Weird how they all swapped. Everyone that made the trip to the new galaxy got left, everyone that was there came back.
no one should ask why there are 3 jedi's and a droid in a ship in pursuit of a deadly enemy and no one is piloting the ship monitoring and possibly warning everyone if any surprise attack like say tie fighters would come. 2 are making a lightsaber and the other 2 are just chatting outside on the ship's roof.

This finale was probably my Least favorite episode, but it was ok and I still LOVE the series. As a watcher of rebels and clone wars this live action adaptation is more than I ever hoped for. Can't wait for more!
Look close the daughter statue crumbled on the left
It was alright. But it heavily relied on the score and references to pull through. “Oh look, it’s Talzin’s blade! Morai! Father Son Daughter statues! That force jump tag team Ezra did with Kanan! Hooyang mentioning Caleb! Anakin’s ghost!” etc, etc. the fight against Morgan was well choreographed though, better choreographed than most fights we’ve seen in this show

3:30 True. However, some of her ideas were out of arrogance, out of assumption, and a little flawed. Grand Admiral Thrawn is always two or three steps ahead. Being in exile for a long time, he probably understands that he can't afford to make any mistakes. Plus, Thrawn isn't a vengeful person. He always uses logic. So, I don't think he's being rude, I think he's trying to teach her how to think like him in terms of battle strategy
lets be real, since we arrived in Thrawns exile, Morgan Elsbeths only pupose in the story was to ask stupid questions so that Thrawn can explain his plan/Thoughts for the audience out loud.
I would also add that he specifically explains how Jedi heroics have undone him in the past and that he's never falling victim to that kind of arrogance. And given the fact that he is intimately aware with the tactics of ahsoka's Master she would definitely not hold back in being able to try and end her to keep her from interfering in his plans. And much like Admiral Konstantine, Morgan has a terrible habit of under estimating her opponent( when she was Magistrate she just saw Ahsoka as a mere Jedi. She took Baylan at his word that she was dead. She insisted that thrawn was wrong for letting Ahsoka reunite with Ezra and Sabine. And here she arrogantly states that there's nothing that Ahsoka can do to stop them). Thrawn wasn't being disrespectful he was saying pull your head out of your ass or you're going to end up dying

Question comes. Why was Grogu not allowed to keep his lightsaber?
He may not have constructed one yet. Grogu was still a baby compared to most Padawans.
Luke gave him a choice based on the advice that he received from Ahsoka who at that point would have been his Superior in terms of training. Advice which at that point in the story had led her to abandon her own Padawan out of fear( the exact same fear that led her to not want to train Grogu to begin with).
We need a Darth Bane Trilogy.
Not watching the rebels, this show seemed more like a “Sabine” show than Ahsoka, presenting more of Sabine’s arc, and character development.
Looking forward to the next regardless.

@@Scharrer23 Ahsoka learned to let go and to trust her Padawan. Sabine had to let go not only of the past failings of her master but also of the things that were holding her back from being able to reach her full potential. In a sense this is a very literal representation of what Obi-Wan was saying to Luke when he was training Luke on the Millennium Falcon "let go your conscious self, and act on instinct". More importantly by letting the things go she was able to heal her relationship with her master and now the two of them are going to be working fully in sync just as Ahsoka worked with her master once they learned to trust each other after christophsis.

Am I the only one who thought the season started well picked up till episode 4 then after that it just started going back down hill. Yeah it was good and probably the best star wars we've seen in a while but but but basically all that happened was thrawn, ezra and ashoka swapping places and then introducing new characters. I feel like they could have done so much more but they just have to drag it out further for more seasons and more money

This was a great episode - but that is the problem it was a great episode but not a great season finale , I found it kind of underwhelming which is a real shame as the last 3 or 4 episodes were really fantastic maybe it has something to do with the fact that Baylen and Shin were in just one very short scene which did not really explain anything , obviously there will be a season 2 and they will have to recast Baylen ( Which for whoever gets the role has some very big shoes to fill ) Ray and Ivonna were amazing together and along with Lars Mikkelsen's Thrawn have to be the series highlight for me , love Thrawn and his whole calm and collected demeanour I find that way more menacing than someone ranting and raving great job Lars .
Don't get me wrong the episode was good but could have been way better I guess I would call it serviceable and it was fun we kind of got a Game of Thrones Hardholme Vibe with the Zombie Troopers being revived very similar to the Night King bringing back the Wildlings on the jetty in Hardholme plus Morgan fighting with a flaming sword also game it a Thrones vibe . the fight scenes were done very well and the stunt work was great as always .
I wonder if this Filoni movie happens that brings all the shows together how are they going to do Luke , Leia , Han and Lando or explain why they are not battling against Thrawn and the Imperial Remnant , putting a deaged Luke in a short scene is different to him being in a whole movie and how could these legendary characters not take part .
So all in all a very great whole season with a rather disappointing finale the finale episode I would rank at a 7 and the season as a whole a 8 but saying that I would absolutely catch Season 2 when it happens so Ahsoka would rank 3rd after Top Tier Star Wars Andor followed by Mando ( Seasons 1 + 2 at least ) and Ahsoka 3rd .
The more practical thing Thrawn could have done was undock from the pillar, rise about 1 km above it so a Jedi could not get on from the ground, dock with the Eye of Sion, and jet out. No need to sacrifice troopers and Morgan. Or even drop all those doors in the pillar, slowing down their ascent and using troopers to slow them down even more.
Making no attempt to kill the Jedi before he left would not have been a good move. Thrawn's primary focus was on escaping. He doesn't care about the lives of his underlings, so sending Morgan to her death was a risk worth taking.
Thrawn also needs to keep the bulk of his forces for his return to Dathomir. He doesnt want to return to Republic space without his army to protect him.
that was it? they just fight some stormtroopers and thrawn leaves without ever interacting with any of the main characters? so underwhelming
