Exar Kun is my absolute favorite Legends character. Such a BAMF - he acted with confidence, purpose, & sheer bad-assery. Walking into the Galactic Senate chamber, freezing all there, giving an epic evil monologue, then killing the supreme chancellor & his old master? Epic.

At a time when the Jedi were more powerful and had a more diverse range of Force abilities than they did in Palpatine's day. Palpatine, it should be noted, only *barely* won his duels with Mace Windu and Yoda. In the former case, with Anakin's help.

The greatest mystery of Exar Kun is how he managed to walk out of the senate chamber dragging his massive balls behind him. His apprentice is on trial awaiting execution, so he gets a few of his homies and heads to Coruscant, kicks down the doors, freezes the entire senate, does a ventriloquist act with Supreme Chancellor and walks out with his apprentice, like he owns the damn building.
Interestingly, Kun never had any need to "bleed" his lightsaber crystal. Hence the blue blade. That must have also terrified the Jedi Masters, since it might deceive somebody into thinking that the lightsaber itself wasn't the source of the Dark Side power surrounding it. Much like how the late-Republic Jedi knew that the Dark Side of the Force surrounded Palpatine (Mace Windu told the Council very bluntly), but they refused to believe that he was the actual Sith Lord until he did a spinning leap over his desk.

@@craigharvey-gurr337 - Exar Kun was mighty, but never noble. For example, he was quite a Human supremacist even when he was still a Jedi apprentice. He was open in his belief that Human Jedi were superior to "animal" Jedi.
He also had a lot of open disdain for his Master. Plus, he wasn't above sneaking around and lying about being an archaeologist/historian to investigate Sith lore on places like Onderon.
So he's really more of a warning that Jedi can become corrupt even before they "officially" turn to the Dark Side.
Exar Kun didn't bleed the lightsaber crystal because that's nonsense from the Disney era.
yeah, the "bleeding" thing is from the Disney era. I do not recall in legends, that sith needed to "bleed" their crystals. Crystals were just crystals as far as i can remember in legends. It didn't matter what color you had, unless you were Sam Jackson who wanted a purple one just...because. Jedi were much more Versatile in the legends and whilst they were still stupid in their views from time to time....they were ultimately good people for the most part. There was never a doubt that a jedi was a good person...none of this "oh, they took the kid away when they were children...that makes em a villain right?" you know....even tho the kid could totally destroy what's around him because of no training? you know because anybody with powers, especially the force, can absolutely destroy stuff when they don't know what they're doing? oh no, but that somehow makes the Jedi the bad guys. Most that they took away, they were doing for that very reason. and don't tell me that the parents begged em to have their kids stay....any parent with a kid that has powers freaks out over it. Look at xmen 2 (i know it's movie) "bobby...have you tried....not being a mutant"? People fear what they do not understand and in the world of star wars, the force is super mysterious even to the jedi and sith. Let alone a lot of people in the galaxy haven't even heard of the force. :)
In a universe where space travel is cheap and easy I'm continuously shocked by how often the solution to ancient artifacts that should never see the light of day and is inherently corrupted, is to just store it in the janitors closet rather than throwing it into a sun or a black hole.
With the way Dark Side corruption is portrayed, I can imagine an author having that choice resulting in an evil black hole.
Well they said it couldn’t be destroyed so maybe those options aren’t on the table for some unknown reason.

I ran a d6 campaign were one of my characters was gifted part of the Saber as a family relic. He was chased by a cult of exar who believed that the character was the resurrection of exar. His was also being chase by a sith master for his parts. Everyone had a part but never the whole. It was a cool campaign set right after episode 6.
I knew exactly which lightsaber you were talking about from taking one look at that thumbnail. Only one Jedi had a standard single blade length hilt with a double blade
I've never understood why people that were faced with protecting a powerful "artifact" didn't simply destroy it. Most every movie or books "object of great power" is either broken into pieces/left whole and "hidden" somewhere to be found again at a later date.
Throw it into a volcanoe, blast it into space, or into a star, or black hole...It grinds my gears that no one ever addresses that easy fix for getting rid of something that is ultra dangerous. It's a true WTF!?
A artifact, specifically a artifact of the dark side is really dangerous.
We see it in the real world like the egyptians and their tombs.
That it could be Cursed. And Bad things would happen if one would do something with the artifact.
That is pretty much how i would imagine for: What if the Galactic Empire succeeded in blowing up Yavin4?
With the Sith temples scattered around the place and the spirits of Naga Sadow and Exar Kun being on Yavin 4. I think Palpatine and Vader would be Haunted for their entire lives. 😂
One does not simply destroy a dark side Artifact.
I mean, it really depends on the universe. Star Wars where people can shoot lightning out of their hands, LIGHTsabers are only like 1m long and there's the entire variety of force abilities I wouldn't put it past us to just say "yup, it's protected by the force from being imbued with so much of it". Don't get me wrong, I still think yeeting it into the deepest lava pit on mustafar would be the best course of action. Even if it won't be destroyed hardly anyone could get it back up.
@@docmercy3660 Yeah, Indeed, but i get the Impression that Ancient Sith stuff like the artifacts and Tombs are Based ALOT on the Egyptians with their Tombs, Traps, Curses and dark Magic stuff.
Like Some Artifacts like Nihilus' mask just straight up take control of its user and the Lightsaber of Tulak Hord gives a huge boost to someone's lightsaber skills, And many holocrons of Ancient sith are verry manipulative and persuasive.
So while most Ancient sith stuff are Imbued with Ancient powers, i dunno if its wise to destroy it, the person who destroyed it could verry well be cursed for their entire life.
I'd rather put it away in a Vault with multiple layers of security so nobody can use it.
I mean, even if a volcano wouldn't destroy it, it's still in the bottom of a volcano. I'd call that pretty secure
@@Mr_Cognito Right? or Better yet, just throw it in a steel canister and jettison it directly into a star. The gravity well alone would ensure no one could ever get to it even if the millions of degrees heat somehow didn't obliterate it.
It would be cool to explore a scenario in which an increasingly disillusioned Anakin (towards the end of episode 3) found or learned of the lightsaber and was curious enough to investigate it against the wishes of the other council members

If they hate this light saber so much why can't the Jedi bring themselves to destroy it. Send it into a Blackhole or something.

so Darth Sidious takes over Coruscant, the Jedi Temple ransacked... how come he never thought to look for Kun's lightsaber at any point? It really would have cemented him in power plus amplified his own Dark Side Force powers
Sideous didn't like using lightsabers. He used it primarily to mock the Jedi. While most jedi used common and humble materials, his was extravigant and used many rare metals.
He has no real use for it in a practical sense.

Has anyone ever done a video on just how much Palpatine and Vader ransacked the Jedi temple?
If any evidence to go on it was sealed. Eventually hidden under buildings. The library was left alone as an archive. The exception was various lists and items removed for study. Overall they wanted access to the chamber below being a dark side nexus. Following Sidious and Vader's fall Kylo Ren was the last to set foot in its ruins.
This evil lightsaber cannot be destroyed and corrupts anyone who comes in contact with it. Me, a brainless toad: “why not try throwing it into a sun on the outskirts of bumfuck nowhere? If they brave a sun for a lightsaber they deserve it.”

Was it not possible to simply destroy it? There’s no need to keep it to study such a weapon if you already know enough to know that if it falls in to the wrong hands it would be extraordinarily bad. Just take another lightsaber and cut it in half or melt it down entirely.
it was made indestructible from all the dark side energy poured into it. but one could simply throw it in a volcano. you don't need to destroy it just keep it from others.
The room where the lightsaber is kept must’ve been sealed deep under the temple that only the Jedi Council knows about. But that’s just my opinion

I wonder if this had any hand in what happened to the Jedi in episodes 1-3 with the blinding of the lightside of the force on Corusant that helped Sidious to gain power and ultimately take down the Jedi?
the temple on coruscant is built atop a darkside well. in their arrogance the jedi thought that they could turn it, or at the very least suppress it, by their mere presence. ultimately, however, it actually corrupted them from within their own home. especially after they oh-so-intellegently decided that they would abandon all other jedi temples and make the coruscant one the only active temple. their arrogance and sense of justice and superiority was ultimately used against them by their very own temple... in fact it was probably encouraging those traits, subtly changing them to become more susceptable to the dark sides manipulations.
That is a pretty good theory and would make sense why they couldn't see Palpatine as the dark emperor.
This is extremely interesting. And scary. It's possible one Jedi took it and hid it somewhere during Order 66. And it's for the better. It's locked away,lying somewhere. May the Force be with you See you in the next holocron :)

There's always so much great content in legends they could use for movies instead of just making them feel like a cash grab with no imagination in the story. Exar Kun, Bane, Revan, Plagueis and Sidious, Traya.
Or even actual GL content he had planned for.

I don't think it could be. If it could, don't you think the council would have done so even if only to prevent it from corrupting others if it had managed to be stolen again? Maybe some force beings like the Mortis Gods might possibly be able to, but I don't think we'll ever know.

I think you missed the part where the secret Jedi cabal was secretly lead by and manipulated by a dark side user/sith.
Also if the blood of Jedi and innocents can taint a lightsaber, then Anakin's saber the youngling Slayer 9000 should be tainted and considered one of the worst lightsabers in history.

Maybe the lightsaber is literally indestructible by any other means than the Force. Who knows, it could corrupt the star, creating a Dark Star?

The thing is, Exar's lightsaber is purely geared towards form 6. He actually broke form 6 which is considered a weak form by making his weapon ludicrously powerful.

I don’t understand why Yoda wouldn’t have brought that blade with him when he went to fight Sidious because as soon as he saw his trickery to use that to strike him down with justice to save his Republic. I bet Sidious wouldn’t have even had a clue about it especially if Yoda would’ve put his lightsaber crystal in Exar’s lightsaber to try to be better matched to his saber. He could’ve easily smoked Sidious with this I’m fairly sure.
Because to do so Yoda himself would’ve betrayed the mandates of the order by wielding such an evil weapon. Evil begets evil.
@@thedrizzle899 yet Yoda already violated his code by going with the intent to kill Sidious so ensuring it by having the weapon that would barely fit both of Yodas hands on would be truly devastating attack form with his form IV.

If I remember correctly, Exar Kun's lightsaber would also corrupt whoever used it (being so steeped in the dark side), and that it would have been dangerous for Yoda to do so.
It's also part of the reason it needed to be sealed in resin, otherwise even it's presence could corrupt the minds of those around it.

Curious why they didn't construct sabers in the same manner, if the modifications were to OP. I believe they could've done the same without corrupting the blade itself.
The safest place to store that lightsaber is in one of the singularities in the Maw. Dump it in and it could never come back.
Random question ❓ I've been looking for questions Abt why the darksaber has a blade🙎🏾♂️ and the logical and stupidest reason imo is the hilt... All lightsaber hilts are built in the form of a beam/flashlight.
N the darksaber is in the form of a blade/sword if you notice where the beam releases, the regular sabers are circular and the darksaber is rectangular hence a blade jus a random thought. What if they started building lightsaber like old swords like the ancient sith.

Jedi, Sith and Force sensitive are telekinetic beings.
jedi are essentialy Monks who's role is to protect others who can't or assist in bringing peace; all Jedi are powerful enough to solve the nessesities of the situation. There are several Jedi who operate and behave like soldiers(Like Cal kestis); and help and bring justice, (Joke, some jedi may even do a dance off to win a bet to desculate situations)
On occasion a Jedi will refuse to join battles with their situational reason.
A True Jedi follow their intuition or carry out request from a cosmic energy that binds them (basically a consciousness that Jedi call "The force"), they use for knowledge to benefit anything like (building Lego bricks to solve puzzles), and basically what Cal kestis does in his Journey, and Defense(as protecting oneself by using any abilities that helps getting people out of danger or themselves, holding with telekinesis or walling out water). Using the force for Knowledge and protection in advanced and masterful ways, like psychometry, investigating, or reading information when recieving thought, or help with teaching survival essentials, tools or other stuff.
This story itself could really be a movie and what happened to it and who welds it now.

If he did something to make it indestructible it could be assumed that it is also preventing any changes to the original crystal.

Okay...I want to see this Holocron, this lightsaber, and this Jedi Covenant mentioned in The High Republic (inc. The Acolyte and SW: Eclipse), the 3rd video game starring Cal Kestis, SW: Outlaws, the adventures of Doctor Aphra, and The Mandoverse (inc. The Bad Batch). I want to see The Acolytes Of The Beyond seek this relic out, as well. Maybe Lor San Tekka, of The Church Of The Force, knows something about this artifact's history and possible whereabouts?

The Jedi/Sith/Emipre/etc. being part of a galactic civilization never seem to make use of the advanced tech they obviously have. Even with very simple space flight that is common to them they act like they are little more than 1900 earth. "We have something we can't destroy, lets just put it in a box next door", they could very easily have shot that thing into a black hole to get rid of it, this is of course a failure of creativity on the authors to make reasons as to why they can't actually destroy things or use the tech they should have all around them.
I would love to have a real type of Anime for star wars, like from the begining when there were first jedis... No cartoons...

🤔 Mace Windu
He survived, and obtained this lightsaber to keep it safe. Mace went to the outer rim into exile.
Maybe soon we will hear of either the discovery of the area of Mace windu. Maybe his remains or his purple lightsaber would be found in a dwelling. With a note saying he hide a few relics from the jedi temple to keep them safe. To inform us they didn't fall into the wrong hands.
Or the Exar Kun lightsaber Mace Windu took from the temple after he went out the window, Corrupted Mace Windu over a long Length of time.. in the outer rim area. Lengthening his life, making him a stronger Sith than Darth Sidious.. and Mace will become a Sith Lord in a later star wars movie. With a small group of trained followers attacking a planet, and then along comes ("Jedi") Rey and her school of padawans... and a fight ensues. The niew trilogy of movies is a focus on recovery and safe destruction of The Exar Kun lightsaber being ejected into a Sun. Also the "Redemption" of Mace Windu.. that leads to his death. Without the lightsaber, and the Sith darkness Mace's age catches up to him.
